I was really craving vermicelli and wanted some place that was very close and convenient. Waimalu shopping center is full of a lot of eateries, but the one thing I really wanted was Vietnamese food. This pho restaurant is right down the road from my boyfriends house and seemed to have good reviews so we decided to check it out. We usually do opt to go eat pho/vermicelli at cuu long in pearl mai shopping center, but driving down kam highway in the middle of the afternoon isn't the smartest idea! So we ended up here and decided to try it out. I ordered the vermicelli and my boyfriend ordered the pho combo with spring rolls as his appetizer. Our food didn't take that long & when it came out, it smelt amazing!!! When my vermicelli came out the presentation was nicely done, the chicken looked like it was perfectly cooked & I was ready to dig in. As I started getting to underneath the chicken there were a lot of veggies with the noodles which I appreciated! My boyfriend enjoyed his pho combo + spring rolls. He said the broth was very tasty & the spring rolls were very crispy, and paired with their special sauce was perfect! It did take a while to flag someone down for the check, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. Mind: Let's try Vietnamese. Stomach Pho sure. First time I have gone to this place and it will be awhile when I give a follow up review. I don't like giving less then three stars but when you get the experience I got it's tough not too. First parking is great and their location is great also. Inside was clean and plenty of seating. My server sat me at seat #1. How did I know, well there's a #1 in the center edge of the table. Anyway she handed me the menu and when I open it. Ta da. One long strand of hair that just stands out. At this point I knew it was going to be a challenge. So I ordered the Pho Special Combination medium size. And waited for my order. I had to wash my hands. Remember what your parents say "wash your hands before you eat". Anyway I asked the server were the restrooms were. She handed me a key and told me outside to the right. Ok plenty of restaurants do this and I'm sort of leery going in but what the heck. First the place stinks like someone exploded inside and then tried to cover the smell by smoking. And the sink was ugly. Ugly like it's was once covered white. Anyway I left quick and waited for my food. The pho was pleasant, the beef broth was fantastic. The only saving grace to this meal. The fish balls were just lukewarm but over all ok. I was actually looking to see if there was hair in my dish. I know that bad but I was looking. Overall two stars. This time around I got #3 (vegetarian roll) and #42 (BUN pounded shrimp on cold vermicelli) - for whatever reason I assumed my vegetarian roll was going to be fried spring roll style but it's really summer roll - not a deal breaker but something to be aware of! Pho 97 One is a little hidden in Waimalu shopping center in Aiea. It's straight across from Safeway and has one of the best broths I've ever had. The service is always quick and due to Covid-19 they have a sign in right in the front. They have menus that are constantly being wiped down and cleaned after each person. And they also have a large area just for takeout! We got here and we were the only ones in here so our food only took about ten minutes (if even). They're efficient and ensure each table is cleaned and taken care of before seating anyone on it. As you walk in they greet you and help you find a seat (maintaining social distance). The brisket always has a good amount of fat and meat, giving it such a tender bite. The rare steak is always amazing and they always give so much meat. The medium is just enough for me, only having to leave a few bites left, but if you're feeling hungry they have a large! Their broth is a deeper broth with a less cinnamon tasting flavor like some may have. I usually let my meat sit in it for a little bit and the taste of the broth is perfect. First time trying this family restaurant in Aiea. A busy hustling location and definately a great place to rehydrate after walking the swap meet. The service was fast and attentive. I ate #41 which is a dish I have probably eaten 30 times a year. Skippys downtown, which unfortunately has closed was my fave..but this one comes in a good 2nd place. We visited on Sunday for an early fix and the place was busy. Dont have super high expectations as it is a local family style restaurant so ok to bring loud kids. Try it. read more

Food wasn't great and service was horrible. Went here for the first time because some friends recommended us and it was not good at all. We were seated right away but we weren't greeted nicely. We barely even walked in the door and the lady was pointing to where we were assigned to sit which was next to the window by the hot sun, mind you the sun was setting so it was pretty hot sitting next to the window. We waited about 10 minutes for water and another 15 minutes to order, the lady who took our order couldn't even look at me while I was trying to order , she was so focused on other parties around us. Nobody checked on us to see how we were doing nor ask if the food was okay. When we got our food the pho we ordered barely had noodles and it looked like the noodles were all cut up and not full noodles. My chicken that I ordered did not have flavor and the rice was very mushy. The whole time we were eating nobody checked on us, we tried calling the servers but were getting ignored left and right, no one wanted to help us they just walked past us and didn't say nothing. Since it's now 2017 I'm still a big fan of this place! Lunch is faster than dinner but either way it's worth the wait. I usually see one younger guy and a older lady that serves and sometimes a younger lady but she does not smile. Highly recommend the spring rolls, crispy seafood noodle, meatball pho, wonton soup. Go to Safeway across the way and buy some pork jerky, boil some vermicelli, and cut up the veggies of your choice! The pork was thin, hard(er) and drrry(ier)!!!! like a piece of pork you noticed on your kitchen floor dropped weeks ago....The only edibles were the noodles and of course the veggies to make it look like you're getting more for the buck!! The order of eggplant and "garlic" chicken was pukey in color (seriously murky green) and tasted of cilantro, not a hint of garlic....which I guess will be great for the wild chickens we feed...until they realize it's "CHICKEN and EGG plant.... Bad review based on what we ordered. Place was super crowded and couldn't figure out why, from what we ordered. Perhaps their Pho is good, if so, best to stick to Pho only.... A few years later and have only been back a handful of times. When it is busy, service varies. I asked for extra lemons, didn't get it. Just kept eating because I wanted to get in and get out. I know with everyone getting vaccinated things are lightening up, but I thought parties are supposed to be socially distance and 6ft apart from another party. Not the case tonight. We were seated on the hot pot side of the restaurant, and by the end of our dining experience all the tables around the perimeter of the room were full with parties of 2-4. We finished our meal, put on our masks to wait for our server. Only then she came back and asked if I still wanted the lemons I said no, just a take out container and the check. Normally, I know we would go straight to the front to pay, but we saw another party receive their check and thought that was the standard practice. Plus our server didn't tell us otherwise. So we waited. We understood they were busy. Still waited as others got their food. Still waited as others got their orders taken. Another table was also waiting for their check. I told my partner to just go to the front already and he waited there. He paid and got the take out container. I like the spring rolls and the generous amount of veggies and meats, but the service is lacking. I think I will still to take out, or my other pho place. read more

Food wasn't too bad, but service could definitely be better. Tried the summer rolls, spring rolls, and the #24 beef/brisket pho. I really enjoyed the summer rolls...made to order and was a perfect balance of veggies and noodles with shrimp. Spring rolls were pretty good too, I believe it was a pork and shrimp filling, actually reminded me of Shanghai lumpia lol. Pho broth was fragrant, but murky in color and over salted with MSG, in my opinion. The medium size bowl was the perfect portion though, it had lots of meat and not overloaded with noodles. Maybe I'll try the veggie or chicken broth if we visit again, hopefully it won't be too salty. As others mentioned, the waitress didn't even crack a smile and had zero people skills. It's ok, the waiter was nice, and made sure we were good on food and water refills. The interior had a nice facelift (former establishment was dingy and dirty) and I almost never have an issue with parking in this lot. Overall we may come back but I'll probably try something other than pho. Not bad, but maybe just needs some tweaking (I hope!) since it's still new. read more

Since I was craving pho we choose to try this place. I'm really picky with my pho especially since I only go to my favorite place in Kailua but my boyfriend convinced me to try it here. I have to say it is better than expected. I got the rare steak pho and he had the combo pho. I would rate mine a 4 only because there wasn't a lot of noddles. My boyfriend rates his a 5. We also got a the BBQ chicken sandwich which was very good. The overall service was fantastic. The food came out very quick (not even 10 minutes) for the pho. The sand which was longer but it was okay since we were eating the pho. The guy kept filling our waters along with other customers. He was very observant :) Will definitely be back again. read more

I went here with family on a Sunday afternoon, around 4 pm. There was no wait, and we were the only table there. The menu had lots of options. They have a decent selection of vegetarian options, which was awesome! My family and I love our tofu and veggies! Service was ok. The guy who took our order was good with explaining the dishes. He also asked my mom is she wanted noodles with her plate, since it didn't come with any. She wouldn't have known if he didn't say anything. Nobody came to refill our waters, they were chatting near the cash register. But I didn't really mind anyway. I had the pho with rare beef. It was delicious, but I thought it could've had a bit more noodles. Other than that, I was very happy. Their broth is yummy! Overall, it was a nice experience. Good portions and flavor.
