It's been awhile since Lu e since I had Pho at Pho 97, but I was craving it and was in the area. I ordered their Large Combination Pho, which was not that large. They were generous with the tripe and meat toppings. The rare beef was nice and tender, but the brisket and the cooked meat was extremely tough. Another stay-at-home order thanks to Uber Eats and my recent craving for pho! This place got me my order quick and it was definitely better temperature when it arrived at my house than other times I've ordered in soup. This is the spot where I get to arguing with myself on if this is a four star or five star move: I got my rare beef separate from the noodles and broth, and it was by far the most meat I've ever gotten in a pho order. Having it wrapped in tin foil and still a little bloody was offputting, but it was quite cool so I knew it wasn't bad. The only problem is, there was so much and it was too cold for the broth to cook it like I expected. The noodles had been cooked ahead of time so they were warm, but I eventually gave up and microwaved it for a few minutes to get the meat to cook. The other add ins on the side were extensive - far more basil and bean sprouts than I'd ever use, and even though there was only one slice of lemon, it was very juicy and worked for the amount of soup. Overall, flavor was great and portion was filling - I didn't even try my summer rolls yet because I'm still waiting for the soup from 3 hours ago to digest! The thai tea was also a great flavor and still cold when it got to me. The dining experience for this restaurant was surprisingly good for takeout, I have a feeling that in store, with all the ingredients for the pho together, this would be a five star spot. read more

Was craving something hot after a cold day at the beach. Came to try this based on the Yelp reviews, but sadly, was a bit underwhelming. The soup was much blander than most pho places I'm used to. It didn't have the richness of pho broth. The meat slices were also on the chewy side. The one pro is that the veggies were fresh. The spring rolls were a bit on the smaller side as well. Actually Pretty Good! It is not hard to find decent Pho in Hawaii, but it is hard to find Good Pho! There are a few, and this one is a good one! My complaint is that the prices for this place and all places in Oahu so far is ridiculously high! I swear in Vietnam 2018, Pho is around $1-$2 and it is awesome! But I guess rent and supplies in Hawaii must be crazy. Anyway the broth is very clear and full of flavor. I love that! They put a lot of meat in the Pho, but it is a bit on the touch side. First thing we got was USED paper menus, mine had stains on it! Would have took a pic but the server took them back with our order and placed them back with their menu stack! I'm sorry but the point of paper menus is to throw them away after each customer to decrease the spread of bacteria. At least inspect and throw them away if it's soiled! Kids will be kids but if you run a family restaurant during a pandemic please watch them. As cute as she may be, the young one was coughing and sneezing without a mask on or covering her mouth while doing homework in the customer dining area. Sneezing and coughing projects airborne pathogens further than 6ft and thus we were in range. Wonton soup base was mildly sweet and bland. I ordered wonton soup with thin lookfun but it was more like a seafood pho with shrimp, squid, fish cake and wontons. There's nothing like eating pho on a cold, windy night in Aiea/Pearl City area. This nice little place is located across from Safeway. Parking is free and plentiful. Who can ask for anything more? It was my first time here at Pho 97 One. Dining area is very clean and service was right on the dot. They were consistently busy with dining in customers and phone orders. That's always a good sign. I ordered beef pho with flank. You can get medium for $10 or $1 more for large. It's always nice when you can choose a size especially for first visit. read more

My office was freezing and I needed some pho. This place was conveniently located at waimalu shopping plaza so decided to try. I was immediately seated and ordered a medium pho and summer rolls with tofu. The quality of the food was good, nothing ecstatic. Satisfying but nothing spectacular. I think the service turned me off the most. My water wasn't refilled, I had to call someone to get a container for my food. She gave me the smallest one , when I asked for a bigger one, she seemed annoyed. When I went up to pay, I asked for a bag with handles and she places the bag on the table beside me instead of handing it to me. She swipes my card and puts it again on the counter beside me instead of handing it to me. Nobody said a word to me except for what my total was. My total was $21. Portions were ok. Quality was ok. Service was horrible. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend. read more

The service is absolutely terrible... as the staff are all very unfriendly, couldn't be bothered and don't offer a smirk or smile to share hospitality. It gives angry lady vibes all the way... but the food is good. Now on the food. This is as authentic as it comes. You know the food is good when there are other people of the same ethnicity eating at a place and enjoying the cuisine. It's advertised as a Vietnamese Restaurant with Hot Pot but you kind of have to ask for it 3Xs if you want the hot pot. Mainly the basics like pho, vermacelli, spring rolls and etc are all solid. The dishes are good portion size, loaded with fresh veggies and classic in vietnamese taste. The hotpot you have to ask for and has a special menu. Then the burner is actually a portable one that they place on table. The hot pot we ordered was seafood in tom yum ($50) and spicy beef ($40). The sides and accompaniments were huge and the seafood was a large platter of prawns, mussels, calamari, crab, fish cake and more. It was absolutely jaw dropping to see how humongous the portion was, but it is good to know that for the price you are getting a great portion. The spicy beef was great value, full of flavor and the beef was insanely tender. The spice level was not too spicy and it was excellent. The tom yum was so delicious and made for some divine leftovers. The only thing was in the end the surprise of how much it cost was a bit shocking as the bill was over $100 but you have lots of leftovers and the broth with ingredients was abundant. I guess they retired and nobody in their family wants to take over and they are not turning over their restaurant to anybody so they shut down it was soo sad! I saw this driving through to drop my husband to get his haircut near city mill. We went in and surprised it's very clean, friendly staff. Food is amazing. My 3yr old loves this place. Not only affordable and budget friendly, they are delicious. Portion is bigger compared to pricier pho restaurant. We usually needed to get extra noodles in the past but here was not necessary. But I think on our next visits, we would need to order extra as our little is getting bigger. My new fave pho place outside of town... in Aiea. Ordered the large combination pho and it was generous portions of noodles and meats, even the veggie accompaniments...I appreciated that sawtooth coriander was included as not all pho places offer it. Hubby and I probably will split this in the future along with an order of summer rolls and it would be enough to satisfy our hunger. Prices were very reasonable considering the amount they give. I have eaten here twice in a past couple weeks. I love pho and my go-to place on this side is Stadium Pho. This place is a pretty good substitute as well. First time, I had a spring roll appetizer and a bahnmi. Their spring rolls are really good and they give lots of vegetables and noodles for their dish. Their bahnmis are really good too. I got the BBQ pork bahnmi and it was Winnas! Their Pho is good too and they give a lot of meat! A Lot of Meat! I needed to reheat my soup because there was so much meat to cook and it made my soup cool. They also gave a lots of vegetables too which is great because I love my vegetables and jalapenos. The restaurant always has people dining in when I have gone here but it never packed. They have a huge restaurant with two sides so they can seat a lot of people if they are busy. I haven't seen anyone eating hot pot but maybe that is the other side of the restaurant that serves hot pot. Overall, a really good restaurant for taking out or dining in. Really don't care to write these types of reviews, but here goes: Arrived and there was a bit of confusion on whether I should seat myself or wait to be seated. Several of the Pho establishments are a mixed bag so I didn't think much of it and ended up just deciding to seat myself anywhere after we were waived in. Took a bit to get someone to take our order but it was a little bizarre when the host showed up -- most Pho restaurants give you a myriad of options like size and meat in or out of the broth...well, as soon as we barely uttered a breath of the type of Pho she was gone. So "ok, I guessing she's getting me a Large bowl?", I thought. And she was seriously gone, peddling all around but very difficult to wave down. Maybe they were low on staff that day? At least I had gotten my iced coffee with condensed milk in. Well, unfortunately it gets bad as she briskly walks by us (no stopping mind you) 10 min later and I believe she tells us our orders "are coming." Well another 10 min goes by and then she finally stops at our table, only to ask us what we had ordered. At this point, mind you, we still don't even have a glass of water nor the coffee I ordered. Meal comes another 10 minutes later and well, meh. The broth was bland and far from anything special, but I've seen that style before at others and left happy. More importantly, the meat was horrid. It was spotted grey and extremely tough -- we're talking rare steak slices AND flank were bad. It's almost as if they had thrown old meat in the pot last night and tried to serve it up after it had overcooked. Side veggies and noodles itself were standard and fine, but I have to say I'm fairly disappointed. Place was clean and presentable; so in a pinch, I guess you could venture here. But don't come expecting more than a low-key dining experience and consider ordering their hotpot or other dishes instead. It's just that, you know..."pho" was in their name so..... read more

I can only judge on their take out, but let me tell you.. it was gooooood! I know I know, "Michelle, you always say this is the best ____" BUT THIS IS THE BEST PHO SOUP & BAHN MI IVE EVER HAD! Hahaha, you read right. These guys take-out pho soup and bahn mi trumps all dine-in Vietnamese pho places I've ever tried. The bahn mi bread is crispy on the outside, fluffy in the inside, perfect bread consistency. I had the pot roasted pork bahn mi, so the meat was tender, melt-in-your-mouth goodness! The pate and fresh veggies also made this bahn mi a winner! I only had the pho soup to dip my bahn mi in and it perfect. Fragrant broth, nice and light, not oily at all! Usually come here in the past with no concerns, but with new mandated guidelines I noticed 2 of the employees came out of the kitchen without a mask. By then, we were almost done with our meal. So now I'm thinking are they wearing a mask back there while cooking our food...hmm. Also, our host wore her mask below her nose almost the entire time there. Upon leaving, tables were wiped down but with a reusable cloth. Don't know if any disinfectant was used. No temperature check or name or address was taken for tracking purposes. We were craving Vietnamese food this weekend and decided to give this place a try. It's super close to home and parking is convenient. When we arrived just before 1:00pm on Sunday it was super busy. The pho broth aromas were making my mouth water and I couldn't decide between that and a rice plate.. decided to get both since my eyes are bigger than my stomach. We ordered the large combination pho, BBQ pork chop rice plate and large veggie and tofu pho Combination Pho - the broth was a little murky/cloudy compared to other places but still good nonetheless. There was a good variety of each meat and the veggies were nice and fresh. Pork Chop with Rice Plate - two scoops of delicious broken rice served with about two good sized pieces of BBQ pork chop. The pork was a little fattier than I'd prefer but still tasted amazing after trimming the fat off. Veggie and Tofu Pho - extremely healthy option where you can still have the satisfaction of tasting the beef broth. I didn't try but my future father-in-law seemed to like it. The veggies were nice and fresh and the dishes for sauces were brought out to us as opposed to just sitting on the table for anyone to touch and breathe on. Our waters were refilled regularly and we had no problems; just ate, paid the bill, and left. If I had a choice, I'd probably prefer the broth to be strained to clean out the murkiness, it was still tasty. I thought the broken rice was more flavorful than some other places we've eaten at, so for the convenience we will definitely be back. read more

Lots of parking and 20+ tables for dining and can accommodate large parties. Food is good, but wished the broth was stronger in taste, and comes out fast. Service is good disappears during the meal. The prices are higher than what is listed in Yelp. What sets them apart from others is the generous quantity I thought. I had the pho with flank steak and brisket @$14 large and there was more meat than any Vietnamese restaurant I have ever eaten at and I have visited many around the island. The pho with ox tail was very good @$22 and had 5 bones plus flank steak. The BBQ pork sandwich @$10 was tasty and cooked well similar to BaLe restaurant. They also serve hot pot. As an essential employee it's very challenging to juggle work and home during this unprecedented time. When I'm at work, I worry about my health and my children. When I'm at home, I worry about my employees and our operations. Since it's been absolutely crazy to venture out to the local grocery store, I thought it would be a nice treat to get takeaway as a means to get a bit or normalcy in an otherwise current chaotic world. I was craving pho and while I do love the Chicken Pho at Piggy Smalls, I was craving Rare Meat Pho and for me, I satisfy that craving by getting a #23 large from Pho 97. I know it sounds weird and crazy and possibly killers on my stomach in the years to come, but I love eating the meat drenched in garlic chili sauce or sriracha AND then scoping up noodles in hot broth, allowing me to still eat pho but the meat pretty much raw. Due to COVID-19, the store hours have changed from 1000 - 2000 (1000 - 800 pm) and it's strictly takeaway only. While the dine in experience is on a hiatus, the ladies that operate the restaurant are still very welcoming, polite and friendly. To help other patrons, once you've placed your order (if you hadn't already called ahead) let the ladies know that you'll be stepping outdoors to wait so that others can go in. They're super cool with ensuring that you get your order quickly and package it so it's stable for the drive home. read more
