Can't pronounce the name of the dish I got but the number was P7. If you like rice noodle soup with little over cooked beef ( very thin) then this place is for you. The menu was very hard for me to read and understand ( my first time there). Service was ok, we had ten people and one server. I will not recommend going back. The restaurant looks as if it is a fast food joint. It is clean. read more

Pho 99 is clean and has nice waiters but the food doesn't really blow your hat. It doesn't taste very authentic and I feel like there are better places near the Sarasota area. The broth is a bit bland and you don't really get much meat. The food is just ok and not really anything crazy or special. read more

Dropped by for quick bite & check out their Vietnamese spring rolls. They were horrible - full of lettuce!! Asked twice for fresh peppers - first time they said yes. 2nd time they said they didn't have any. When paying - had to order extra since total bill under $10.00. Place smells like incense/temple. I prefer to go to eat and have the place smell like a restaurant versus a temple- incense. Service was below average. Food below average. Ambiance - not my type of Asian dive though it is somewhat clean except for trash on the floor around the bar area where the customers are seated though overall it was clean. WOW! So glad we stumbled onto this small Vietnamese restaurant for lunch on the way to Myakka Valley Park. Ordered the fried egg rolls served with lettuce for wrapping them before dipping (very traditional and uncommon in the US), spring rolls were perfect and the vermicelli noodle bowls were soooooo good. The owner is rude. We waited 30 mins on a week day, understandable if you're busy. We asked if we could get waters since we had to wait outside in the summer heat. The owner said no and complained that we had too many people and too busy to serve us. Should have left then but we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. So we waited and waited until I peeked inside and there were tons of tables available. We left. Guess they forgot about their party of 10 that was sitting outside in the summer heat and had already been denied water. Places like this don't deserve your money, go to little Saigon bistro 10 mins away (family owned). Edit: LITTLE SAIGON bistro is SOOOO GOOD. If I could leave less than one star - I would!! We are regular customers of Pho 101, but decided to give Pho 99 a try. Boy are we SORRY we did. The customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE. I have never in my life been to any restaurant where the staff are so RUDE!! When we walked in at 6:30 on a Friday night there was only 3 tables. The rest of the restaurant was completely EMPTY - I kid you not, there was approximately 12 empty tables. The 3 people working were just standing around doing nothing, yet no one would greet us at the door. About 5 minutes later, someone finally walks over and tells us that she can seat us at a 2-top until the SINGLE 4-top in the entire restaurant leaves. We asked if they could push 2 small tables together (since there was only 8 people in the restaurant and no one waiting for a table) they actually REFUSED to do it! Why we asked?? Because they were waiting for groups of TWO to magically appear out of nowhere for those tables, instead of servicing the customers that are already standing there ready and willing to spend their hard earned money. We said if they couldn't seat us we'd go somewhere else to which we were told - "go ahead GOODBYE"! I was absolutely appalled at the way we were treated and cannot believe this restaurant is still in operation, having read many other reviews where people had the same experience. Needless to say, we left straight away, and drove over to Pho 101, where the restaurant was packed! We were graciously greeted, sat, and had the most DELICIOUS dinner. We will never again try another Vietnamese restaurant in the Sarasota area, because WHY?! When you know a place that is always consistent, always grateful that you chose their restaurant and serves the most AMAZING Pho, there's no reason to ever try another subpar restaurant. If you're looking for excellent Pho, and Vietnamese food, stay FAR AWAY from Pho 99. We will NEVER be back, and will tell everyone we know of the terrible experience we had!! read more

This is ridiculous. This place, the soup base is too sweet. As a pho shop. There was no such spice as the basil, saying it had run out for the day. Stumbled upon this place on their grand opening day with the family. We were warmly received and the owner helped us understand the items on the menu so that our meal would be a great. We ordered spring rolls which were refreshing and elegant with a hint of mint. My daughter didn't like her spring roll and the owner replaced it with an egg roll/lettuce wrap in a dipping sauce which she devoured. We each bought a different noodle meal, all of which were tasty. I tried all four and found them to have unique and delightful flavors. The bowls were sizable and I was quite full with the meal I had. We will be back to this brand new gem. read more

Okay, I will admit that was a little food snob coming in here and seeing how modern the place looked. Hey, we're from Atlanta and I've been eating pho all my life (granted, I am not Vietnamese!). However, we were pleasantly surprised how good this restaurant was! My BF got pho and was really happy with the broth. I was expecting something flavorless but it was so good! I had the chicken vermicelli and O M G, the chicken was so good and tender! Chicken was made with lemon grass so it was super tasty and plentiful. What made this a 4 star instead of 5 was that our food took a while and the prices are a few dollars higher than the other pho restaurant in town. Yes, we went to both! We really like Pho 99. The pho here is the best we've had in Sarasota. If you come from someplace else with a large Vietnamese community as we do (Seattle),you will be slightly disappointed in the quality, but it's still very good. They COULD go a little easier on the salt here. Value is below average. I am used to paying $8.50 or so in Seattle for a bowl TWICE the size of what they serve here. Here they charge $12.25. My fiancé gets the chicken pho and really likes it, but I tease her because I don't think it's real pho. Vietnamese people eat BEEF pho! We've also tried their "broken rice dishes." I really like these, especially the pork with lemon grass, which is marinated nicely with what I think is garlic, soy, and lemongrass with other spices. But again, it's too much money for the portion...not a good value. I would order it more if the price was more reasonable. Btw, I'm not poverty stricken, I just like to get good value when I spend my money at a restaurant. If that doesn't matter to you, ignore that part of my review. The Shrimp Spring rolls are DELICIOUS. Shrimp,cabbage mix with other veggies, and lovely mint leaf wrapped in a rice roll. Mmmmm. Oh, and it's NOT FRIED. Served with peanut sauce for dipping (you'll want an extra peanut sauce-get it!) I can't recommend this app enough! We love it and in my opinion it's the best thing they make here. We live about 20 miles south of Pho 99 in a culinary desert known as North Port, FL. If I were a smart, young, Vietnamese chef/entrepreneur-I would open up a place like Pho 99 in North Port/Port Charlotte. There is literally NOTHING for 15 miles in any direction around North Port that resembles a restaurant that makes authentic PHO that I know of. You could take BARRELS of money to the bank every single day if you opened up a PHO place here. People crave good restaurants around North Port and a PHO place would clean up. I'd never had Vietnamese food before and decided to try it a few weeks ago bc it was walking distance from my hotel and I'm glad I did. I'm now in the process of working my way through the menu trying something different each time I visit. I've been back several times already. I love the egg rolls (A1 on the menu) and I've enjoyed almost everything I've tried. The service has been friendly and they've taken time to explain what things are. The only thing I wouldn't try again is the B8. BUN BO HUE (SPICY SOUP). They warned me it is made with pigs feet. I tried it out of curiosity bc I'd never tried pigs feet before and I like spicy foods. I think I would of liked the dish without the pigs feet which to me tasted & smelled like a pig pen. read more

I just met a friend for lunch here and had my first experience at this type of restaurant. I was (and really still am) a complete newbie, and probably would've found the menu a little overwhelming... BUT, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped me understand what I was ordering, and in the end I made a selection I was very happy with (some combination of rice noodles and a couple of types of beef in beef broth). Tastewise? OUTSTANDING. We also ordered some egg rolls, which came out of the kitchen hot and crisp. They were very flavorful. The main course was quite delicious, and the various sauces and add-ons that came along allowed me to adjust the seasoning (and spiciness) to my heart's content. I will definitely go back. Haven't been there for dinner yet, so I'm not sure what's different (if anything) in the evening, but as a lunch option it was fantastic. It was a little on the pricy side (my friend and I drank waters and our bill came to $30 plus tip with just our entrees and a small appetizer), but the food quality and overall experience were well worth it. If you are Vietnamese and thus- know good Vietnamese food and service- do not come here. The customer service is absolutely inexcusable and inappropriate. The service was off from the beginning when we walked in, a large party. The owner seemed less than happy to have a large group of customers. The male owner had passive aggressive statements all throughout our time there despite being a Vietnamese speaker himself. I recalled asking for water 3 times until he finally got them. Each time he forgot things (occurred several times with different items) he made excuses. Another person in our group asked for a straw 3 times as well- and it took that many times. Unfortunately, something I noticed is how when other customers- namely WHITE customers asked for a straw- it was given immediately. While I'm not suggesting the server or restaurant discriminates- his actions are coming off as extremely discriminatory. The food is subpar, and frankly- far too overpriced for what it's worth. It's basic and what you'll find at any run of the mill Vietnamese restaurant just nearly double the price. $13+ for a bowl of pho that's average and too salty? That's a stretch- and I've been frequenting Vietnamese restaurants my whole life. What really tipped me over was witnessing people getting lectured about tips from that same male server. If you're looking to support family-owned and authentic, quality Vietnamese restaurant- don't come here. The food and service are far too salty. read more

I am a big believer in supporting family owned business, so we (me, my wife and 16yo daughter) tried to stop at Pho 99 on our way to Miami for her soccer tournament. It's 630pm and we don't have a lot of spare time, but we walk in to find at least 6 open 2 top tables. After standing around for 2 or 3 minutes, I asked if I could pull 2 tables together to accommodate us. I'm told that there's a table of 4 getting ready to leave and we should be able to be seated in 5-10 minutes. I said "we're pressed for time... can't we just pull these together?
