The food came out fairly quickly and the service was alright. It's not small inside and it was spacious. Why the 2 stars? flavor. I was sourily disappointed that it lacked flavor in every dish. I just don't like asian food that is catered to certain groups. People should like food for what it originally tastes like. I was surprised there was a vietnamese restaurant here near my hotel while visiting denton. I may be a bit harsh but I've had a lot of pho everywhere and this is the worst tasting one I've ever had. It tasted like water. My com thit nuong has 0 flavor, however the nuc mam was decent. The shrimp wrap was OK. A nice hole-in-the-wall with good quality for the price. The food alltasted fresh and tasty and was served in a good amohnt of time. The staff was nice and friendly. I am knocking a star because I do think that the location could be easily spruced up for a nicer dine-in experience. The tables felt small, the plates barely fit on them and my group was a bit crowded. While it was clean, the furniture and decor felt kind of cheap. It really hits the spot on a cold day for pho or beef stew - or a warm day with their grilled pork vermicelli, served cold with a nice vinaigrette. Today, was an overcast and cool day so perfect for lunch. We have been coming here for years, as soon as they opened, and this place is the best in this area if you don't want to drive to Carrollton. It's family owned and I like that a lot! We popped in a little before 11a. The wait person immediately stopped by for orders. Starting off with one grilled pork spring roll and one shrimp spring roll, waters, a root beer and coconut boba. We went ahead and ordered the small seafood pho and a beef stew with egg noodles. The rolls came out quickly. The peanut sauce is good and today, I used the spicy chili sambal sauce in a bottle on the table. That was very yummy. Grilled pork at a pho restaurant is so different than I'm used to. Nice and tender. The fried shrimp wraps are also good but there is only room for one appetizer today. My hubby's pho came out steaming hot. This was the first time I tried the beef stew with egg noodles. I was expecting big, American style, egg noodles and was pleasantly surprised to see they're more like thin vermicelli (rice noodes) with more chewiness to them. It is not surprise, I Pho sure love eating Pho! However that makes me more pickier than the average person when it comes to pho. It's all about the broth! Pho Asian Star nailed it!! It was so delicious and you can tell they cooked it for at least 24 hours. I also love that they have all the different spices at the tables: Chili oil, Siracha and Chili mix Most places I ask for Angry pho but they let me make it to my liking. It's a mom n pop pho restaurant. All the pho places are very similar! Good quick service. Tasty soup. Why do I drop a star? It's just...a bit pricey. Pho is supposed to be cheap quick food, but ten+ dollars for a bowl of bottom of the barrel noodles and bits and ends of meat is too much. Also, perhaps it's new but the broth is a bit less flavorful than I'm used to, but I dump hawt chili sawse all over the soup so it's not a big deal. Maybe I'm the one that's wrong here. This is a simple and bare bones location that is pretty popular with a lot of the locals. The menu is diverse enough to include several Vietnamese dishes as well. My wife and daughter were with me. We had Vietnamese egg rolls, shrimp spring rolls. Wife had a white chicken meat pho and I had the number 25 with some extra tripe. Bill came in around $30 and I'd say worth it. The pho is good and we met the owner when she came out of the back. She's definitely Vietnamese and it appears to be a family run business. They are very friendly and quite frankly they never miss an opportunity to fill up your water cup for you. It's pretty good, but not that mind blowing or soul fulfilling broth. But's pretty good and I would say a fantastic representation of Vietnamese cuisine. It was a pretty busy day as people kept coming in, getting soup, paying and leaving. Quite a system and the food was out in less than 5 mins nearly every time. Comes out nice and hot, with the steam pouring off the top. I requested the meat to be sent out rare and they were accommodating. What can I say? I like watching it brown in that hot soup. They do have red chili oil which is a must for me. read more
