I was very pleasantly surprised of this restaurant. We went here for lunch, they have quite a few "lunch specials" which I think is a really good deal. For on average $13-14 you get the meal with soup and an egg roll. Hard to beat that price at a sit down restaurant these days. They have a lot of dishes to choose from but I ended up going with the Orange Chicken with Fried rice and hot/sour soup. The soup was very good, it's not the most difficult soup to get right but at least I felt it was promising that maybe the other dishes were good too. The orange chicken was amazing! One of the best Orange Chicken I have had in a very long time. Lot's of great flavors, it was deep fried just about right so that it was cooked well but still soft and not overcooked like it often is at some other Chinese restaurants. The fried rice was also very good and had some veggies like carrots and peas. The service was also great. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant around our area! read more

I liked having a choice between Szechuan and Hunan. We ordered blackened chicken. Hunan chicken and sake. The general tsao's chicken was crispy and tasted great! The Mongolian beef was so so. Too much yellow onions and not a lot of beef. This was disappointing. Probably won't order that again. Joy Chinese Cuisine is such a joy to eat at! The highlight of my meal was by far the chicken lettuce wraps, the filling was soft and buttery which paired well with the refreshing lettuce. The hunan beef was the perfect level of spiciness and was filled with beef and veggies. The chicken flat noodles blanced out the meal with a neutral and slightly sweet flavor. The service here was excellent, our server Abby was super attentive and friendly. The food came out quickly and was very fresh. The restaurant was colorful and lively yet classy, and there were multiple TVs playing different entertainment. I had a great time here and will return again! read more

We have never been here, but we live in Frisco and have shopped around for good Chinese delivery for years, never having found a place that we really liked until we found Joy on DoorDash a few months ago and it is now the only place for us. Everything we've ordered has been outstanding and we've run through most of the menu by now. Special recommendations for the chicken lettuce wraps and the hot & sour soup. My wife is Laos and a chef in her own right. Laos & Thai cuisine is pretty much the same. Thus we never order takeout Thai and I can't speak to that part of the menu, but as for the standard American style Chinese classics, Joy is clearly the best in this area, and we've tried them all. read more

I used to work over in the Richardson/Plano area, where there are a ton of authentic Asian restaurants.. and have not been excited about Chinese food in my hometown until Joy! Today began Lunar New Year! We wanted some great takeout to celebrate! We got egg rolls, handmade dumplings, tea smoked duck, shrimp fried rice and black pepper chicken. As soon as I got home, we ripped into it all. The egg rolls? Finally, light and crispy wrapper stuffed with cabbage and veggies. Nicely done. The dumplings? Not sure if they're ground pork or chicken, but very delicious! The tea smoked duck is one dish my hubby and I both agree on. It's a must have every time. My hubby added bean sprouts to his shrimp fried rice, it was good. Nice and light. My black pepper chicken was great! They use green and red bell peppers with onions. I ordered it, showed up 15 mins later, and it was all ready and perfect! I am not impressed at all. I have tried this place several times and I'm not sure what others rave about. Like others have reviewed, the food is okay but they skimp on the ingredients. Last time I ordered chicken lo mein with extra vegetables, I got no extra vegetables. This time I asked for the same but asked for more vegetables and less noodles. Not only did I not have extra veggies but no chicken either so my wife called to complain. They questioned her about what we said, and then offered a free order next time we come in. I was craving chinese so I googled "best Chinese food im Flower Mound" and the first restaurant to pop up was Joy Chinese Cuisine. It was AMAZING!!! I had the sesame chicken and lo mein. I've found most restaurants don't add enough sauce to the sesame chicken-there was plenty on this and it was so flavorful. And the lo mein was out of this world! My food was ready for pickup in less than 10 minutes. I will definitely will be coming back!!! read more

One dish was really good (orange beef), the other had no flavor (kung pao shrimp). I will try again to see if the king pao was an outlier.

Essentially, the food is basic-good, but the price tells me it's expected to be fancy. I'm not sure it's worth the cost. The people are friendly, the experience is not overwhelmingly excellent nor terrible. The lighting is a little cold/bright for a date. I had the moo shoo chicken, which was pretty good (good flavor, delicious pan cakes!), but my date had the general tso's and the chicken was like hard nuggets with molasses on them! The sauce was so thick and sticky, and super sweet. It was practically like orange chicken (no heat), and because it was so sweet, eating the entire serving would be unbearable.
