Pho Barr is kind of a cool pho place near nasa. It has cool neon lights on the wall to enjoy. The pho itself was average. I was a little surprised that a pho place only gave three choices of pho. But there are other viet food dishes to choose from. Also had the bo luc lac was pretty good and came with rise on a hot sizzling plate. That was pretty cool cause it made the rice in the end crispy. Wish that it had more meat on the plate. It was mostly just onions, other veggies and rice. Still wanting to go back and try other dishes and teas. Pho Barr is raising the bar for Vietnamese food in the Webster area. I would put the restaurant up there with some of the top restaurants in the greater Houston area. The humble front of the building conceals one of the coolest decorated restaurants I've seen in a while. While keeping true to the Vietnamese roots of this cuisine, there is something distinctly Texan and H-town about this place. I'm loving the aesthetic from the Vietnamese murals to the neon wall decorations and lighting. I was feeling the ambiance and vibe of a place you can hang out and have a great night. The service was prompt, being greeted and shown to a seat right away. Drinks were brought to the table immediately and the food arrived what seemed like mere minutes after ordering. I ordered the Cơm tấm sườn bì chả (Broken rice with grilled pork chop) and the Vermicelli bowl with grilled ribeye. To drink I ordered Bạc Xỉu (Vietnamese White Coffee). The Cơm Tấm Sườn Bì Chả was exceptional. I had planned on just getting a bánh mì until I saw this on the menu. It says its seasonal, so I'm not sure if its temporary but you need to come get this asap. The pork chop was tender, juicy and incredibly flavorful. The rice was good and the shredded pork skin was an amazing addition. It added a nice little crunch to the meal. The egg cake (Chả Trứng) was delicious . It was like a quiche with the consistency of meatloaf. There was a hot sauce that accented the meal perfectly. All around the dish was astounding and astonishingly good. The Vermicelli bowl with ribeye was really good. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and the nước mắm was really good. I couldn't believe the portion size. I'm not usually paying attention to portion size but the sheer amount of meat in this bowl was impossible to ignore. It definitely put some other restaurants to shame. The Bạc Xỉu was very good. This was my first time trying it. I usually get cà phê sữa đá or cà phê muối, so this was a nice change of pace. It had a smooth, delicate flavor and almost reminded me of chocolate milk with more of a coffee flavor but lacking the strong bitter coffee taste of cà phê sữa đá. I enjoyed it. The menu here was quite large with an impressive variety. I cannot wait to come back and try some of the other dishes and drinks. Please show Pho Barr some love. My friend comes here often and recommended that I go with her, and I must say that once you walk in, it really is an aesthetic all on its own. There's neon signed hanging, they keep it pretty dim inside, so multiple photo ops. The seating is spacious and open which I enjoyed. They also have tvs in multiple areas to watch. We were quick to be seated and answered a lot of the questions that I had, they also serve alcohol there as well, beers, ciders, and wine if I remember correctly. We ordered some pork spring rolls, she had the pork Bahn mi, and I ordered the Chicken pho. We also each got a glass of their sparkling wine called Golden Love. The sparkling wine was okay, it seemed a little dry and more bitter than I like. The spring rolls were a good size and had a lot of flavor, it also was packed with a lot of vermicelli noodles though which, to me, made it more chewy. The chicken pho had a lot of, green onions, which I don't mind, but the broth was very sweet for me, I couldn't get the flavor right for my taste when I had added the sauces. Nice find in Clear Lake! Loved the cool feel of the decorations inside and the friendly + accommodating staff. Food was excellent. I've never had Vietnamese food with meat that was as saucy as what was in our dishes, but it added positively to the experience. I think I'll skip on the vietnamese coffee next time (was made differently than I'm used to at other places, but I'll chalk it up to personal preference) Overall, definitely a good choice in the area at a great price point. After reading so many good review, I was excited to try this place. We ordered the Pho Tom (chicken broth with shrimp), pho ga (chicken broth with chicken) and the grilled ribeye rice plate. Both pho bowls taste very bland, the soup didn't have much taste to it at all, it was just plain rice noodles with plain chicken and clear tasteless broth. I was quite disappointed with the pho. For a restaurant with the name Pho in it I expected the pho to be better than this. For $12 it was mostly broth and barely any noodles and meat compared to other places. Tasting the broth before putting in any hoisin and siracha sauce it barely had any flavor and was basically just water at that point. I recommend going to Houston if you're looking for a good pho place and get your $12 worth. We asked them to take it back and they were nice enough to do so and we asked for the Shrimp Banh Mi instead. I didn't take a picture of it but it was $8 and I understand the shrimp was extra but the portion size was so small. It tasted good but overall not worth $8. The Takoyaki and Fried Dumplings were good though a little pricey than I expected. I also got the Thai Milk Tea with boba and that also tasted good. This place is pricey when you could get the same thing for cheaper at other places and the portions here were small like I said when other places can give it to you for the same price but bigger. (Biggest pet peeve is not receiving something I paid for!) The tofu spring rolls were good. My husband liked the ultimate fries, I thought they tasted old and of course they were soggy. The chicken is cooked in some type of sauce, it's a little sweet. Different from any chicken rice plate I've gotten at any other restaurant. It was good though. I highly recommend Pho Barr! The food is always hot and fresh, consistent, and staff is very attentive. When I dine in I always appreciate how clean the restaurant and all of the condiments are. I've been to a lot of pho restaurants or just restaurants in general that the table/floor/condiments aren't clean, or feel sticky. It makes me not trust the cleanliness of the kitchen. I never question that here! I feel like the prices are very fair and portions are a great size. I've had a variety of things on the menu but the Pho Tom, Vegetarian noodle soup, and shrimp spring rolls are a few of my favorites! I love to add Chili oil to my dish which just kicks up the flavor! FBQ Filipino Barbecue is sadly no more, but thankfully, an equally amazing eatery took its place figuratively and literally in Webster's Challenger Plaza. I didn't have any expectations of Pho Barr before my first visit other than to get some lunch/dinner in me, but I'm very glad to be leaving the fairly new restaurant impressed. When I go for Vietnamese, I always order a rice plate. It's essentially my go-to meal. I do like pho, but I have to be in the right mood for it. So, going back to the subject of rice plates, I ordered the grilled pork. It consists of grilled pork (obviously), rice (duh!), cucumbers, and carrots. Presentation-wise, I applaud the kitchen staff for making the meal look worthy of an Instagram post. The meat, rice, and vegetables were nicely laid out. A really nice surprise was the complementary soup. I don't know what the soup is called though I've had it before at another Vietnamese place, but it was aromatic and rich in greens. I dug it. As for the main - for lack of a better word - course, it was excellent. There was a generous amount of tender, nicely sliced pork that tasted even better with hints of sriracha and peanut sauce. I ate the cucumbers separately, but combined the carrots with each spoonful of rice and meat. As someone who cares about portions, I just wish that there had been more rice. But I was satisfied with Pho Barr's version of the rice plate. I mentioned peanut sauce a few sentences back. Let me tell you, your dining experience here must start with the grilled pork spring rolls. I tasted the freshness with each bite, making me wish they were bigger. The peanut sauce was thick, consistent, and packed a spicy punch thanks to the sriracha mixed in it. Decent! Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised with the ambience. The decorations are well thought out and creative. The service is mediocre as the waiters didn't seem very experienced. I recently tried Pho Barr for the first time, via DoorDash. I am pretty used to not always getting the right order, and am mostly understanding of DoorDash-I just submit the wrong items and get my refund/credits applied. This particular time, I ordered traditional Vietnamese egg rolls and a Honey/Lemon Black Tea. There were no wraps enclosed-one tiny shriveled piece of lettuce, 2 egg rolls, tons of carrots, and the traditional fish sauce. They sent a pale cream colored milk tea. After submitting my feedback, I received an email from the restaurant, telling me they sent me the correct tea, and a lecture on traditional egg rolls. My items were wrong. This was beyond unprofessional and I will never order from them again. You do not email the customer who was sent the incorrect order, and argue that they received it. Gyoza: deep fried and flavorful. Wonton / egg noodles soup: the broth was fragrant and savory, wontons are home made, thin egg noodles. Generous amount of wontons too! Pork bahn mi: Bread was crusty, but softer than most places so much easier to eat. Flavor of the meat and toppings was great. The staff was super helpful in answering our questions and was truly interested in our feedback. We also really appreciated that they were fine in accommodating our special requests. I recently visited Pho Barr with family and had an enjoyable experience. We stopped in for a late lunch after a visit to the Space Center Houston, which is only a few minutes away. We started lunch sharing a couple of appetizers: Mama Special Egg Rolls and Shrimp Spring Rolls. The egg rolls were lightly crisp with flavorful meat inside and the spring rolls were filled with soft savory noodles, tender shrimp, and crisp lettuce. The pairing of rich creamy peanut sauce complimented the rolls nicely. Next I tried the Banh Mi. Tender pork marinated in a flavorful sweet sauce, crisp veggies, and spicy jalapenos were housed inside a fresh baguette. This place got all the feels and vibes down to a tee. To their mural, their vibrant lights, to their decor, and most importantly the food. A comforting vibe is the first thing I noticed about this restaurant. Kind of reminds me the Harry Potter tent. Ordinary on the outside, but inside is magical. Now food. Ordered their Pho Bo, shrimp spring rolls, and the butterfly lemonade. LOVED THEM ALL. The shrimp spring rolls come with sauce mixed with the peanut butter sauce and the chili paste. It tastes wonderful and I have no regrets. The Pho Bo consists of 3 types of meat. Filet mignon, meatball, flank. The broth felt clean to me and very delicious. I love how they give your meal in individual trays. I will definitely come back here! The Butterfly lemonade tastes just like lemonade with a hint of a herbal taste.
