Super convenient if you're staying at the Fairfield. It's a no frills, simply decorated joint with solid pho. Menu is limited but clear. Pricing is decent. Service is mom and pop vibes.

Pho Bel-Air is located in a small strip mall with 3 other tightly bunched restaurants, like Starbucks, Slice Pizza, and Sam & Curry. Parking is really challenging in this small parking lot. The service was friendly and prompt. [Disclaimer] This review is only for a drink. I got a Thai Ice Tea. It was flavorful, with a strong tea taste, but mellow and creamy once you stirred it together. I'll be back to try a meal.

During my business stay in San Jose, my cousin, Ryan, met up with me at my hotel, the DoubleTree, for a late dinner on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Most places around the area were closing soon. Through yelp, I found PHO' BEL-AIR. Kudos to them for keeping later hours than others on weeknights. We actually could have walked to the restaurant from the hotel as it was not even a five-minute drive. There was sufficient parking in the lot of the small shopping centre and we found a space right away. The venue looked tiny from the outside, but once we walked inside, the place proved to be pretty decent in size. From the stacked chairs outside the front door, I assumed that they offer outdoor seating, but patio seating was already closed when we arrived. We came in past 9 without reservations to a dining room with only a few tables occupied. We were welcomed and seated to a table immediately. The single dining room has rows of marble top tables and wooden chairs. On the night of our visit the place appeared to be clean and tidy. Pho Bel-Air's menu is short and sweet with four APPETIZERS, 1.5 pages of NOODLE SOUP options (choice of BEEF, CHICKEN, VEGETABLE), and a last page of BEVERAGES, SMOOTHIES, and PEARL DRINKS. Below are what we ordered. 108. AVOCADO SMOOTHIE (SINH TO BO, $7.25) - Yummy! 109. STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE with Boba (SINH TO DAU, $7.25) - My cousin, Ryan enjoyed this beverage of his. 3. FRIED EGG ROLLS (CHA GIO, 4, $9.60) - Very good! These Vietnamese egg rolls were fried to a perfect golden crisp. I was super happy that they didn't use the weird wrapper that bubbles up and gets chewy. 2. VEGETARIAN SPRING ROLLS (GOI CUON CHAY, 2, $9.60) - I loved how the tofu slices were the same length as the rolls instead of small, cut up pieces. 11. RARE STEAK (PHO TAI, SMALL $17.25) - Yay for offering size options for pho! Is it just me or have most other Vietnamese joints gotten rid of bowl sizes for pho? I really appreciated the opportunity to be able to order a small bowl here. The soup was not bad, the broth was just a little weak in flavour. Service was extremely friendly and warm. If in the area again, I definitely wouldn't mind coming back for more rolls and a smoothie.

everything about this place is just as awesome as the owner! walking in, he was very welcoming and kind. we had the rice place with chicken and shrimp, presented beautifully and the chicken wasn't dry. the place was pretty packed and had a good space for seating, but we were still taken care of fast. Would come here again for a comforting meal.

The server was super nice and sat my group (12 ppl) almost immediately. The place was pretty spacious for a small restaurant. I got the chicken noodle soup and the flavors were simple but perfect. I added some sriracha and hosin to my bowl which added even more flavor. The broth was flavorful and the shredded chicken was nice and tender. This was a solid bowl of pho but didn't really wow me.

First off I saw very good reviews for this place plus it was right by the hotel I was staying at. I ordered pho, chicken and rice and some shakes. I was disappointed because the pho noodles were extremely soggy and overcooked. The shakes were just okay tasting. Service was okay as well.

This is some of the most delicious Pho I have ever eaten. My daughter and I were in town for a dance recital, and were thrilled to see restaurants in the same parking lot as our hotel. She had never tried Pho, so I thought it was a great opportunity. The food tastes so incredibly fresh and the portions are giant.

I needed something for lunch because the hotel restaurant was closed and I'm so glad I came here!! If you're walking to this spot don't make the same mistake as I did and go to the back! The entrance is across from the Fairfield, opposite the Main Street. It's a small building but still with plenty of seating and feels very homey. You can tell this is a family owned business and I love that vibe. I only ordered to go, but the customer service was great. I got the small chicken soup with rice noodle as well as fried vegetable egg rolls. It was ready in about 10 minutes so very fast! Even though I ordered to go I had to see what the egg rolls were about while they were fresh. They came out piping hot and fried hard which I like! They were very crispy and I really enjoyed the sauce they came with. Even after my 10 minute walk back to the hotel the rest were still amazing! It's hard to tell from the pictures but considering I got the small it came with a lot of noodles which is a win for me. Maybe it could have used a little more chicken but the serving size was more than enough. I thought the broth was very flavorful and had good "body". It was ~$30 for my meal which was pretty expensive to me, but also I am not used to the California prices. Still worth it and would come back if I'm in the area.

I arrived about 10 minutes prior to my estimated pickup time and the egg rolls (netted and regular) were ready but the Banh Khot were still being cooked. The estimated pickup time on the website was pretty accurate. Everything made the 35 minute journey and stayed crispy!! The regular egg rolls were tasty but nothing special. The netted egg rolls however, I'd come back for. They were crispy all throughout and the filling was well seasoned. The Banh Khot were very crispy with a nice and pleasant chew from the coconut batter. My husband loved the flavor and texture. I wasn't a huge fan of the coconut flavor being so prominent but I know that's a staple of Banh Khot batter. Next time I'd skip the regular egg rolls but I'm happy I tried them!

The hubby and I placed our order & we picked up on a Friday night to bring back home. It was not too busy & they had our food ready pretty immediately. I ordered way too much food, but I was excited to try everything. I would have loved to have had everything fresh & hot, but we live a little ways away, so by the time we got the food home, some things needed a quick reheat. I ordered the pork & shrimp eggrolls, banh khot, pork & shrimp net eggrolls, chicken wings w/ garlic noodles, & the pork spring rolls. Needless to say, we had leftovers - it was a lot of food for just 2 people! I really enjoyed the banh khot & net eggrolls - they were flavorful & I enjoyed the texture of the net eggrolls. I had to save the print rolls for the next day, but I enjoyed them (though, I know they were probably perfect the same day.) I just couldn't make room for all that food. I think the one surprising disappoint for me were the garlic noodles. I expected more of a kick and generally more flavor from the noodles, but they ended up being relatively mild. Don't get me wrong, we still ate it all, but I just expected more umph. All in all, I enjoyed the food & would love to order from here again!

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. I wish I had the stomach capacity to try more of their dishes at once, and I 100% recommend that anyone give this place a shot.
