My family and I finally decided to check out this place when we were in the City of Bellaire area. The name sounded cute and the indoor casual/chill decor made it feel inviting & homey. The employee seemed like he was the only one and there was a couple dining in who seemed to be regulars after their farewells. I didn't realize it was a build your own bowl/sandwich/salad concept which I thought was unique! Everything was packaged nicely to go since we had to eat at home. I did make the mistake of not checking the order because we realized the pho broth wasn't included which was disappointing! I ended up not going back or calling to report it since I knew it would be too inconvenient to drive all the way back. After the kids refused it, I did try it vermicelli style but the steak was little too salty. The beef banh mi was good but the portion was much smaller than I expected compared to a traditional size. The eggrolls were also on the smaller side but were decent typically eggrolls. I also ended up trying the lychee lemonade but the flavoring wasn't as well balanced. Overall it was not as satisfactory as I would have hoped but wouldn't mind giving another chance to try other menu items like the pork banh mi or viet coffee. So went to this place to grab a quick meal at lunch before grocery shopping. Not a soul in the place a 12:30 on Friday. When I walked in had to use the restroom so I asked for the code. Answer - "sorry we can only put that on a receipt." Well - I will order after I relieve myself. Answer - "Sorry we can't do that. We have had too many problems". I am thinking WTF kind of problems?!?! So, while about to pee myself, I ordered a Bhan mi pork and I'll just have a cup of water to drink. "Sorry - we only have bottled water (which I don't drink due to microplastics in the environment). " So I get a receipt (not mine) with the restroom code scribbled on back WHICH DOES NOT WORK!! I am 60 years old and my bladder is not that strong!! Luckily a bus boy saw me and had mercy with his code. Jeeze! I felt like I was in junior high school!! I beg these guys to change their policy if they want adults to eat here. Got my sandwich which was hot and adequate but nothing to get excited bout for $11. Roostar and Pho Prime have no competition!! So thought I would round out the meal with some soft serve. $5.50 for soft serve ? No thanks. I'll stop at Chickfilet $(1.80)! Will not be back. It felt like a dating game. I heard some great things about Viet Nom Noms. So, I came here few months ago after a long day at work. Got here about 30 minutes before closing. But came to see the lights were turned off and it was closed. Because of airline mile rewards, I had to come by at least once. So, I came back couple of weeks ago during lunch time. I didn't want to miss them again. The restaurant was really busy with takeout orders, not so much of dine in customers. So, I enjoyed being there staring at the wall decor and waiting on my food. Not my cup of tea. The ominous empty parking lot in the middle of a bright Sunday day should have been a small hint for me but I decided to try this cute spot anyway. The decor is immaculate and the space is very clean, however, the food was the outlier. There is no shortage of amazing banh mis in the Houston area but what I was served felt like the Chipotle-equivalent of banh mis. The bahn mi bowl was a deconstructed banh mi in a bowl; so quite literal. You don't realize the tiny portions until you finished paying for the food and seeing it deconstructed in your bowl. The bread tasted a bit old and stale, and the meat/vegetable portions in the banh mi were on the lesser side throughout. The flavor of the meat was just okay as the fish sauce can do the rest. I would suggest adding more vegetables so that the portions do not look so lackluster. Overall, it was just mediocre for the price. I received an email for a free nombo for my birthday. I didn't understand that meant I have to BUY an entree to get two tiny, I mean tiny egg rolls and a drink. Take out, so when I try to take a coconut water ($1 at store just like a soda) mgr says oh no only a can of soda. Email says egg rolls and a "drink" not soda. Ok, I get home and the egg rolls are 1/2" wide and 2" long. Really? If I had eaten in I would not have accepted them nor if I had had paid $1.99 accepted them either. The pork vermicelli bowl tasted decent, but I feel like it should have either been a little cheaper for the size or contained a larger portion. Not bad overall though. I came here for a quick bite after running errands. The worker was friendly, but I was disappointed in the Banh Mi and Thai tea that i ordered. I paid $3.50 for the drink, which was cheap compared to what it costs nowadays, but I definitely got what I paid for because it was watered down. I paid $5.50 for my pork Banh mi and I was even more disappointed to see that I only got half of an original sized Banh mi, which is not worth the price. It was also terribly crusty. By the last bite, the entire outside crust of the bread was all over my lap. Those 3 factors are what make a place an instant "go-to" for me and Viet Nom Noms really proved themselves to be triple threat as far as casual dining venues go. Whole bowls of food here are just around $7, which is crazy with the level of quality they're at. The proteins specifically are all better, leaner cuts than the typical Vietnamese place. Even their tofu is marinated beforehand, making it noticeably much tastier. These extra steps are what make a place stand out. If I lived in Houston I know it'd be a regular stop for me. It was honestly my favorite place I found during my weekend trip to the city. They were also gluten intolerant and vegetarian friendly, for anyone looking for that info. Lack luster food and environment. I came with my mother and wanted to try a different place, we should've read the reviews before coming. It was practically empty and you can't use their bathroom until you purchase your food. I ordered the strawberry green tea and it didn't seem fresh or taste very sweet. The fruit appeared to be sitting in the tea for longer than normal. I asked the guy at the counter when the tea was made and he said it was made fresh daily and that they cook the strawberries a bit to get the flavor. I hadn't heard of that before and didn't push further as he didn't seem to be apologetic for the poor quality nor was he friendly. Oh my-nom nom was it delicious! Everything was made fresh to order and tasted phenomenal! Okay, so I didn't love the shrimp and pork spring rolls, but the vermicelli trumps all! I ordered the spicy Chicken Vermicelli and to be honest I envisioned it being something else than what it was, so that influenced my thoughts on it. I thought it would have some sort of sauce on it and be served warm but it was kinda bland and cold... It was okay, it was far from being a bad meal, but also wasn't very memorable and I wouldn't order it again. The chicken flavor was good but it was severely over cooked. The person who took our order was a little snippy and considering we were the only people in the restaurant, I thought he could've been a bit kinder. On a negative note, especially in COVID times, the cashier used his bare hands (no glove) to grab the noodles to put in the bowl, which seems incredibly unhygienic. Definitely a small place but don't be fooled by how it looks with the food they provide! I came here with my boyfriend and manager and we definitely enjoyed the food! They're similar to chiptole where you can pick your own noodle/rice bowl or salad or sandwich (banh mi). I ordered a noodle bowl with grilled pork meat, a side order of egg rolls and a vietnamese coffee. My boyfriend ordered the same thing but got 2 eggrolls and a drink included with his order instead of the side order of 4 egg rolls. They offer spicy or mild fish sauce to go with the bowl. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to prepare our meal. The food was definitely refreshing. Inside the bowl (paper) was the noodles at the bottom mixed with cucumber slices, bean sprouts, lettuce and I added jalapenos. I was only given 1 small container of spicy fish sauce and had to ask for 2 more to add to my noodle bowl and my egg rolls. The table we had was kind of small, the floor was concrete and the walls did have some decoration/print on them but it was pretty bare. The bowls were kind of small in size so mixing was kind of messy. But the taste was definitely delicious. The fish sauce was definitely Americanized in taste in that it had too much lime juice and it really wasn't spicy because the peppers were cut too small and no seeds were mixed in to add to the heat. The descriptions of what veggies come in the bowls are on the wall so make sure you check - I forgot to check and ask for them to hold the beansprouts but that's on me. Had a tofu rice bowl and a pork vermicelli bowl, both were good and I feel fairly priced. You'll get larger portions in Chinatown/Little Saigon but if you're in the area, the flavor and service are hard to beat. I had a taste at the recent Yelp 15th Burstday event at the Children's museum. I was blown away by how fresh and authentic it tasted even though they were working out of a little booth. I knew I had to have a 2nd full helping. I was in the area buying parts at Microcenter and I Yelped lunch places and it popped up, down the street off Rice (ironic). It ended up being a bit of a detour because there was an accident off the service road and luckily, Google Maps led me around. It's in a tiny strip between a children's consignment and a smoothie place. I went in, jogged their memory about how appreciated their food at the event was, claimed my 7% check in coupon and ordered their "Vietnamese pizza" and noodle bowl. It's really rate to find Vietnamese snack foods like the "pizza" called banh tran nuong in Vietnamese in Houston. This place is one of the rate places that make it and I'm super excited. While waiting for my food, I used the restroom and was gratified to see that even in a small space, there were women and men separate bathrooms. Super clean and smells nice to boot!
