Okay I tried their Banh Xeo....okay it's not traditionally made like my Ba's and my auntie's BUT it's still delicious and they had mint with this one! I've never had it served with rice paper, only lettuce and herbs so that was a new way to have it, I suppose maybe a region thing? I prefer traditional method but I didn't mind this one since the crepe was nicely fried -- there's a different restaurant in El Segundo that has absolute trash banh xeo (their batter is the consistency of American cheese and it's inedible). I get re-using the lemon grass steak for this one instead of using pork belly and shrimp. I will say my biggest regret of the banh Xeo is the sauce -- why you not give me nuoc mam? IYKYK that "peanut" sauce isn't the right sauce either...if you want to give me peanut sauce because of the rice paper, then it had better be made right and this was not it. The right way to make that sauce is with sweet rice and hoisin sauce and it's blended until smooth then sprinkled with peanuts. Anything else is just an abomination, sorry not sorry. It's labor intensive but then again most Vietnamese dishes are so... Again I still find this place to be an affordable gem and their herbs NEVER disappoint. And non traditional be damned bc that steak is delicious! Not a bad banh xeo, just not a traditional one and for the love of god serve it with fish sauce and not that imposter peanut sauce lol. We ended up trying this pho restaurant in Silver Lake because the wait at Silverlake Ramen was too long and we weren't in the mood to wait. The pho tasted okay, but the meat portion was very small and didn't really justify the $19 price. It felt a bit skimpy for what you're paying. Also, the straw they provided was very flimsy. When we first arrived we only got a couple min to decide what to eat and the waiter came over and started snapping in front of my face to get my attention when I was literally asking the others if they were ready or not. The portion was slightly less than what I'm used to, but I don't quite have another pho place in DTLA to compare it to. I have to say I've only had delivery from this place and I enjoyed everything I've ordered so far. My latest delivery was the chicken pho and it totally hit the spot. There was a ton of chicken and noodles and I got all the veggies and sauces. They are really fast. Sometimes I feel like 20 mins barely passed and my food is already here. Hot, fresh and tasty. Considering I'm usually ordering lunch for myself I feel like the delivery fees and price of food is reasonable. Me and my girlfriend decided to dine in and the quality was horrendous. The eggrolls were soggy, the fish sauce for the eggrolls tasted like vinegar instead of being sweet. The broth on the pho had no flavor. And the noodles were completely hard I couldn't even chew. The guy was very nice tho. Can't knock his great service and personality. But the food was no good. to start off, i'm not from silverlake, im from oc and i often get pho in little saigon. the pho from where im from is known for being good, so this definitely biases my review. i came in on a tuesday at noon and there was no wait with fast service. these prices are outrageous. 19 dollars for a bowl of pho... to make things worse, my noodles were undercooked and had just a tougher texture than usual. they give you a few pieces of meat, nothing to justify the 19 dollar price range. there were barely any pieces of tripe or tendon as well. on tops of that, the vegetables that came with my pho were very obviously not fresh. they had brown spots and i had to pick out quite a few bean sprouts that looked questionable. some of the meat in my bowl was also impossibly tough to chew thif you can make the drive i would definitely recommend going to get pho in chinatown la, much much better i gave this place 2 stars instead of one because the service i got was decent read more

10/10 food was made perfect. The noodles did not stick together like other restaurants. The spring roll was amazing made with lemon grass which not a lot of restaurants do. The lemonade is home made you can taste it. And the chilli has so much flavor we added it to our spring rolls and our pho. We haven't been here in about 4 years since they stopped in person dining during the pandemic. I guess to-go orders were enough to sustain my all time favorite Pho spot. I'm not a fan of assembling Pho to go at home as I just want to add my jalapeños, sprouts and herbs and get down. (!) It was good to be back and not much seems to have changed. Different staff and same food thankfully. We started with the Banh Xeo which is named for the frying sound of the omelette-like dish with beef, shrimp, mushrooms, sprouts etc. Then, you briefly soak your rice paper in hot water to soften it then race to fill it before it sticks to your plate. I like to add a layer of lettuce, pickled carrot and then the omelette with some peanut sauce and Sriracha. There's also some fish sauce for a funky salty bite and some sambal. Next up is my all time favorite Pho Ga which is chicken noodle soup Vietnamese style. Pile in your sprouts, jalapeño and Thai basil and add the garlicky sauce and give it a mix. So very good. My wife got the beef Pho for a change since she was feeling a bit under the weather. All in all, we were very happy to be back. We will be back soon and we're glad to be dining inside here again!! read more

The portions 10/10, flavor 9/10 and the extra care?! 10/10 I always make a note if i may please have extra limes and they never let me down. I love the broth of the Pho and only wish they offered cilantro and onion like other pho spots do. But anyways the meat protons are really where it's at! They don't skimp you. I ordered it extra hot with extra green onion. It was served to me in a large bowl with the veggies on the side (bean sprouts, mint leaves, etc) The flavors in the broth are there! Unfortunately, I wish I had more green onion and they were more attentive to dine-in guests. There is opportunity there. The space is very clean and condiments are already on the table. Vietnamese food. 1/10 banh xeo. Super oily. You'll find the usual bean sprouts and shrimp but instead of pork, it's paired with this super gamey heavily seasoned steak. Not a fan. It took away from the flavors and simplicity of the traditional banh xeo flavor. It didn't even come with fish sauce. I didn't even eat half of it. 1/10 spring rolls. Came here as a celebration for a college graduation lunch and food was delicious! 4/5 but service sucked! All staff were alright...idk if it was the manager or owner just kept staring at us definitely had a problem. At the end of lunch we paid 95$ for our meal all together. None of us had any change for a tip keep in mind he did not speak nor come up to our table throughout the whole 1hr we were there. He questioned us at the end asking about his service and we said wonderful....he then proceeded to question as to why we didn't tip and what was the matter in a rude tone. We explained we didn't have change and thought he took it out through gratuity but he said no we then apologized and gave him 20$ he just stared and he walked off and didn't acknowledge us as we left or anything. Thought the eggroll was better than the fish I grew up in the Bay Area so I have high expectations. It just sucks that we can't find any really good/authentic Vietnamese food in LA. Banh Xeo ($12.75): This was a different take on banh xeo where they put lemongrass steak and mushroom. I'm sorry to say, but this didn't fly with my husband and I. The steak just didn't go with the banh xeo. The shrimp wasn't cooked correctly either. We didn't use the rice paper which is also not typical for this dish; you usually use the lettuce leaf to wrap the banh xeo in. I don't think they gave nuoc mam either and provided a different sauce. Before the pandemic, this was a sit-down restaurant and a genuine community hub. And delicious. And reasonably priced. After the pandemic, they never returned to table service. Takeout only, and the prices are thru the roof, thanks to restaurant and Doordash fees. Forget drinks and appetizers. You can't get out of here without paying $50 (including tip) for just two dishes. That is just ridiculous. And when you go to pick up your order, they still act like there's a plague in our midst. It's all urgent and impersonal. This is a review based off Uber Eats: This is the saddest bowl of pho I've ever had. I just received two orders of Pho Ga from uber eats from Pho Cafe and I'm SO disappointed. There is about 1/2 ounce of chicken in each order. Instead of being packed with the noodles like most to-go Pho orders.. the chicken arrived, barely visible, swimming in the bottom of the broth. Also, I hate when I order two bowls of soup and they pack all the add ins (bean sprouts, limes, jalapeños etc) together. Please pack two separate bags so they can be given to two separate people with ease. I love Pho. It's probably my favorite food, but if someone offered me this bowl of Pho Ga from Pho Cafe, or a 2 cheeseburger meal from McDonald's.. I'd choose the McDonald's. EDIT (post consumption): okay, the broth is good. The 1 star is for the broth flavor. The extremely disappointing portion size of the chicken tho (almost non existent)..
