Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken Bowl
    Daniel G.

Came here an hour before they were closing, and just as I got closer the smell was great. Small hut; simple menu. Delicious food and portion. Will come again and I'm sad I took this long to find this spot sooner. I will also add an egg next time looks exquisite!

    Hours.

I had the 1/2 chicken and 1/2 rice bowl which is chicken over rice and salad in soy garlic (flavor) and I really enjoyed the meal. The chicken, salad and rice were portioned very well. The menu is simple and I will come back. There is free parking entrance on Virgil with outdoor seating.

Stopped by Chick+Rice and grabbed one of their signature bowls. Full of rice and crunchy chicken topped with nice sauce and scallions. You also get a few different sauces to go with your order. If you like Korean fried chicken you will love the presentation. Sauces have variety of heat so be prepared. For me, no worries as I love the hot spice. Restaurant is on the corner. There are a few bar seats. Parking was available on the street (metered).

    Signature bowl with spicy mayo

One of my favorite places in LA. This place is way better than most Korean chicken places. The wait is short, the bowls are always piping hot, and everyone that works there is so pleasant. The food is delicious and it's only $11! It is heavier on the sauce but I personally love it. My go-to is the signature one though soy garlic is also delicious. Must try!

It's my first time trying here and let me just say it is good , great flavor and if you love spicy this is the bowl for you . Only thing I would change is using white meat instead of dark but I would def come back and order again

My first time coming here, and if I'm ever back in the area, I will return!!! Super good food and excellent service from Alirio! He went above and beyond to create a positive experience for not only me, but the customers after me as well. I hope management sees this! I got the chicken bowl with 1/2 salad and 1/2 rice, soy garlic sauce, and oh my gosh it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was perfectly flavorful, crunchy, and the meal was a filling portion. Highly recommend, truly a 5 star experience!!!!!!

Signature sweet and spicy chicken rice bowl and grape sac sac

Very underrated place, was pleasantly surprised. Food was amazing, spice level was great, price was more than fair and portion was generous. We were so glad we found this hidden gem!

Really good 치킨! The…read moreserver we had (I think it was the owner) was really attentive. This was my 3rd time there and the food and service always stood out. We always get the Bulgogi Fries (Fries with Cheese, Spicy Mayo, Jalapenos, a creamy salsa, onions, and LOTS of sweet bulgogi), and the Honey Garlic Wings. Also definitely recommend the original marinade or even plain (anything but boring). Seating is plentiful. Lunchtime is never too busy, which really surprised me. I love that they give us gloves. Alcohol is served too, so I think I'm gonna have to come back for a 회식 with my workplace.

I've eaten from there before. It's well cooked, juicy, with a good crunch, and light flavor. If you're gluten-free, like myself, you can only have two different sauces, and of course you have to pay for those separate. Not a fault, just an observation. Having any Sauce at all, is awesome... My complaint and withholding of a star is that The Only individual sized portions you can get is a chicken sandwich (I'm one of those dreaded * duh..duh..dunnnnn,* "Gluten-Free" peeps. After that the next size is half a chicken (to much for me to eat in a sitting.) and it Doesn't come with any sauces or sides. I'm not saying that's it's a bad price, for the amount and quality... It's absolutely fair. But an individual option, be it wings, tenders, something easy like that. Something comparable to the chicken sandwich, would be really appreciated. That's Star worthy to me. To add insult to a sour moment, I had to pay for parking... for only 3 to 4 minutes. While not truly a fault of the restaurant, it is a part of the experience, and should be noted. Lest others find themselves in a similar situation. And a final note. The manager was never anything but courteous and professional. He put up with my braty hangry behavior like a champ.

This place has certainly changed since I last visited. Here's the general flow of things:…read more 1) Wait to be seated by the owner (may take some time if he is busy cooking, you'll have to wait for him as he doesn't have any other staff) 2) Once he points you to a table, have a seat (if there are leftover dirty dishes from the previous party that haven't been cleared, that's normal; hopefully he comes to move them out of the way quickly for you and gives the table a wipe-down) 3) Speak your order clearly (don't expect the owner to give you much acknowledgement once he has your order, he might just nod and walk away). If you want a soda, it's self-service. The vibe of the restaurant is just OK; you have a lot of people looking around (either at their tables or at the door for take-out) either wondering what to do or where the owner is so they can be helped. Lot of TVs on with kpop MVs or sports playing (but no volume); nothing special there. 4) Chicken should only take about 20-30 min, he'll bring it out soon enough and it'll be hot from the kitchen. The fruit is a little...different, but kind of works with the dish and cuts through the grease a bit. Unfortunately, no radish like your usual Korean fried-chicken place would offer. 5) After you've finished eating, wait for him to come over and assist you with the check (again, you'll have to wait till he's done with other tasks so he can help you in-between his workload) The chicken used to be worth the wait, and the owner used to have a little more courtesy for his customers. After my most recent visit, I can no longer say so. The chicken comes out faster but is no longer as crispy, and the sauce isn't doing it any favors anymore. And the owner's attitude made our whole visit unenjoyable; gave off the feeling like he felt he was doing us a favor by letting us eat there, and seemed annoyed at any questions we asked (and then was very unavailable most of the time). I understand he does this alone, and he has more tables now than when I last was here (4-6 now instead of 2). But if you can't handle the work load alone then downsize or get some part-time help, or at least be a little more humble with your attitude. I was originally very excited to recommend this place to my friends and took them here to eat, but by the end I was a little embarrassed at the service we received. Don't get me wrong, we're not strangers to the usual "Asian service" where you kind of get the first-gen treatment and don't expect please/thank yous with your meals...but this was really something else, and the quality of the meal couldn't even make up for it anyway. Sorry to say it was unacceptable to us; as visitors from out-of-town we used to look forward to making this one of our stops, but we won't be returning. A good meal/service can make someone's day, and the same could be said for the opposite. Good luck to anyone who might catch him on maybe a better day.

I ordered the quarter chicken with rice and salad, and I was really impressed with the portion sizes. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and gave me the kind of authentic Latin food vibes that I love. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. If I'm in the area and craving their chicken, I'd absolutely return--just with different expectations regarding the seating situation and service.

My hubby grabbed me an order of the chicken bites (forgot the name but it's those small pieces of chicken), and it was not how it used to be. It not only was super dry and not fresh battered like it used to, but also had something resembling gum in it! It visually looked like gum and tasted like gum . I had to spit it out and decided instead of complaining, Im just not gonna go anymore. It has been noticeable that their service is not as good as it used to be. The cashiers and staffs used to be so much more friendly and always made us felt welcomed. I have been eating Dave's since they first started, and unfortunately will no longer return or recommend to anyone. It could just be this location since it's right on the corner next to a terminal and there're often a lot of vagrants hovering in and out. I wish they hired a security guard so it feels safer and nicer to sit inside to enjoy the food. Anywho, chewing on old, dried chicken with gum completely turned me off of this place. I know they got a rubber chicken mascot, but I dont want to eat actual rubber.
