I have some conflicting feelings about this place. I got the #19 (which basically has a little bit of everything - tendon, brisket, steak). They serve the pho with a plate of veggies (leafy greens and bean sprouts only). The servings are large for the price - an XL is only $10 and is insanely huge. I thought the broth was broth.... nothing insane to write home about. The meat was also VERY fatty. I had to rip off pieces of fat because it was just inedible. Definitely wasn't a fan and was the part of the pho that was most disappointing. I wanted the meat to be more tender instead of tough and fatty. I got the Thai Iced Tea - good, but very rich and sweet. The people I were with also got iced coffee. They said it was very strong and very good. Location is very clean and bright. Forks and spoons are at the front of the restaurant if you can't use chopsticks. Overall - wasn't a fan but that may be partially that this was my first time having pho (and I discovered I wasn't a huge fan). read more

Pho Danh specializes in pho. If you are looking for a hearty noodle soup, come here for a bowl. The noodle is fresh with the right firmness, and the soup is flavorful and clear. Pho Danh has always been a safe place for quick, friendly Vietnamese food. They have a diverse menu with soup and dry dishes. Their Pho Noodle Soup is usually consistent and flavorful. The food is great and the pho is amazing but the staff is so RUDE, i noticed how the staff was kind and consistent with the other customers but being the fact that me and my sister are hispanic we got terrible service. When i asked for a refill on water i got a stank face and i didn't care but once my sister asked for a to go container they got noticeably mad and annoyed. My favorite place to eat phở! Whenever I go here or any other phở restaurant my go-to meats are gầu, gân, sách, and vè dòn depending on which place and what meats they have. Normally when I dine-in here I would order a small bowl but for to-go they said if I like more broth then I get a large order so I got a large order and later cut back about 2/3 of the noodles that came w/ it. The broth is hot and warm whenever I had it heated on the stove and it was tasty and flavorful w/ the extra nớc béo added. By all means, this is definitely not what I wanted to rate this restaurant based on cleanliness and taste. Here are my deets. I love pho. It's healthy. It's hangover cures. It's affordable. It's just simply tasty. I definitely do not get a ginormous selection out in The Woodlands as I would in Houston, so I have to cook a few "from scratch phos" in my adult life. With that being said, the broth has got to be the wow factor. Everything was perfect, except the chicken. Part of the reason I do not get chicken pho, usually is that white meat overcooked tends to be a little dry. When pho is served right to order, the broth is extremely hot. Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the thin sliced white meat chicken as much as the dark meat chicken with skin. Dark meat was more flavorful and juicier than the white meat pieces. I appreciated the generous amount of basil leaves, bean sprouts, and fresh jalapeño peppers. Besides the first time taste experience at Pho Danh, the servers were respectful, quick and social distancing. I hope to enjoy a different dish here next time. read more

I normally don't do pho reviews because there's just so many good places out there, especially when we're visiting in Houston. But today, this place felt almost a solid star above the many places I've been to my whole entire life-- that's saying a lot ! On our trip departing Houston to go back to north Dallas, we decided to stop by and change it up a little. We always stop at Buc-ee's to and from. And maybe not having to stand in what feels like a "Black Friday" gas station would be another excuse. It's Summertime in Texas, but it was overcast and intermittently sprinkling so pho sounded perfect. Yes, I know it's a pho restaurant and I should have gotten Pho Bo (beef pho).... but I ALWAYS have my own "test," and it's to order Pho Do Bien/Thap Cam (seafood/combo) to see if they are able to make another broth/soup and not "cheat" (like using canned stock, reusing beef broth, is etc.) Let me tell you, their #24 was one of the more delicious ones I've had. It had the right amount of saltiness for the stock, a generous amount of a combination of proteins: thinly sliced pork with not too much fat, chicken, shrimp, and even surprised me with a slice or two of liver (traditionally in combo seafood.) At some other places where I've enjoyed the same dish, they would skimp on that, and... I'd get just ONE shrimp.. no liver, pork was dry, maybe some imitation Krabb sticks. My plate of veggies/herbs toppings included the usual, lime, green leaf lettuce; and then the not so usual that gives it a notch above: chrysanthemum greens. I like chrysanthemum greens a lot and was happy there was a generous amount. And to add, it's a bit rare when a pho establishment asks if I want my bean sprouts raw/fresh or steamed. I usually have to be the one to ask if I had a preference. But I actually hesitated when asked, almost as if I didn't understand the Vietnamese coming out of her mouth. Lol. Already mentally gave it a two thumbs up before my soup even came out. When my soup came, "Mike" who brought our food to us made sure to even pronounce the dish correctly and set red vinegar bottles out for me. Typically I would have to ask for this since the usual toppings on the table @ other places are just Sriracha, Hoisin, garlic chili sauce. My "small" size bowl more than filled me up, all for a little less than ~$7. WOW. My boyfriend ordered a "large" size bowl of Pho Ga, his usual go-to. He was pleasantly surprised for the amount he got for ~$7.75. We had enough chicken leftover from his dish that we decided to keep a few slices for our dog waiting for us patiently. :) (he gobbled that up quickly !) We also ordered a Coconut Water. SO FRESH, definitely maybe been cracked open from a coconut. They had some coconut flesh in there too. So good. ~$2.50... would've been like $6 for an equivalent at Whole Foods. I definitely can't wait to tell more of my family and friends about this place when we're all traveling to and from Dallas to Houston ! I've never had pho before so I'm not to sure on the BEST or WORST tasting pho or honestly how it's supposed to even taste. But we will get to that in just a second. The ambiance of pho Danh, I really enjoyed, it was nice inside, clean and just a good looking atmosphere. Waitress was nice as well, felt as though she spoke limited English but spoke enough for me and her to communicate decently. Now the food. I ordered #17 with all meats and beef stock and added shrimp. It was veryyyy tasty. What I like about Pho Danh is that it's been around for a long time and is very consistent. I come here when I know I want a nice bowl of pho because I'm familiar with the taste and know I can't I go wrong. The broth is perfect to where you don't need any sauces. Now, I wouldn't say that this is amazing or the "best" pho but it is better than most. My favorite is the meatball because it gives a good crunch. I had seen this place forever (maybe even since I was in high school back in 2002), but had never tried it until recently. So glad I finally did! Was not feeling well and just wanted to get some pho to go nearby and heard some good things about this place. Picked up their pho tai (filet mignon), which is my go to at most pho places. Wow!! Broth is such good quality, almost as good as my mom's. The filet mignon was so tender and looked/tasted amazing. They're also incredibly generous with the extras like basil, veggies etc. Don't think I've ever been impressed by/craved a basic pho place, but love this pho so much!! I think also because they don't have so many items offered in menu like other places, that they really do well with what they focus on. Gonna order again soon from here. I actually came here with the intentions of going to the Thai place next door. I saw the sign for pho, and suddenly craved bun bo hue- don't ask me how that makes sense. Facility was very clean. And kinda empty- I came on a Thursday afternoon. They don't have any appetizers like spring rolls or anything. But when I ordered my bun bo hue, it came out incredibly fast. So good! There was a great ratio of meat to noodle to broth. The broth was savory and tasty, and they brought out chili oil and shrimp paste along with my bowl. It made for a cute display. I'm super picky about my bun bo hue because I grew up eating it cooked by my mother. And I can say that this place does it pretty well. Food is great, always at value however my issue is that when i medical was only able to have liquids only they limit you to two quarts an order and have an attitude when you order just the broth. There is no doubt that this place is clean and the Pho taste almost up to par. HOWEVER, jeez, the owner or anybody else who is in charge, please do something about the noise. Gosh, we came to the restaurant on Sunday very late afternoon. We intended to avoid the peak hour when everybody came at once after church because to us it was too loud and noisy. But God no, we were wrong, those noises compared to the noise that were made by their wait staff even worse. I could not stand it and I swore my ears were really hurt that day. Let me tell you how they cleaned the table. Those girls just kept slamming those poor chairs on the floor, then they slammed (or threw) plates and bowls in their cleaning cart. And they kept "scratching" the chairs on the floor, i wondered how hard it would be for them to actually pick up the freaking chair instead of dragging them like that. It was super noisy and very annoying. Seriously, please do something about this. As if they did not want to clean or work or let customers eat. Not to mention their faces and gestures. I understand sometimes after peak hour you were really tired, but please, if so then asked for a break, went outside, took some deep breath. Or simply just took off and went home. Not only the front, but back of the house was noisy too, I can literally hear what they were doing in the kitchen. I think because of the restaurant's design too, with all those glass windows and shiny marble floor & wall, noises bounce too hard and could not escape outside. It then is escalated by those waitresses who obviously did not give a (fill in a blank) about their owner's property. The noise and their rude service really turned me off, that was 30 minutes of torture, I'm telling you. Ah, by the way, make sure you have everything you want to order be ready when they come and take your order. Because after that, if you need anything else, it'll take forever for them to glance at you. This is not China town, not Bellaire, your legacy could not last long as soon as the area is crowded with more proper and polite restaurant. From the bottom of my heart, if you're the owner and you're reading this right now, please do something about the way they clean the tables. Best Vietnamese Pho environment place that I've been to! The interior is fabulous and clean, as well as the restroom. Before you try this place, you should know that Pho Danh is a Vietnamese restaurant that mainly serves Pho (hence the name of the place). They do not offer many other common Vietnamese dishes like Bò lúc lac, Bún riêu, or Com tam (or any rice dish for that matter). The only choices you really have is if you want a big or small bowl and if you want to add meatballs, tripe, beef, etc. The best way to rate Pho is by the taste of the broth. The noodles only varies in texture/hardness/clumpability (I'm going to copy right that word) by cook time in boiling water. The veggies/herbs are always standard issue. The broth however, has a chance to be sour tasting, salty, watery, or taste like it's instant. Pho Danh doesn't make it taste like any of those. I would say it's pretty good (but not the best I have ever had). I didn't walk out of there feeling super thirsty either so they probably didn't go overboard with the MSG. Another cool part about this place is that they accept credit cards. I don't know how many times I've been to Pho places that only take cash. read more

A positive lunch experience with Vietnamese food! Lunch can be a bit tricky around this part of town. But if you want some fresh Vietnamese food then this might be your spot. To date I have ordered the Pho Dac Biet and the Bun Bo Hue on separate occasions and I enjoyed them both. For drinks, I had the soda chanh muoi and the sua dau nanh. I liked the sua dau nanh more as the soda chanh muoi was lacking... in the chanh muoi department. In any case, it's a WIDE open layout where you will be seated ASAP when you walk in. During lunch this place is CROWDED but typically you will be seated in a short amount of time. So we just moved back to the area after having been gone for about a year or two, but we'd always seen this place when coming for some quick breakfast tacos at the place next door....a week or two ago after church, we decided to stop and try the place out because we'd always seen it full of people. Well, we walk in and of course, everyone turns around because we're literally the only hispanic people in the place...LOL...but no problem, we're used to the feeling since I love trying all kinds of new food. - We order a couple bowls of what we thought we'd like off the menu and literally not five minutes later, there's a guy coming over with a steaming trash of our stuff....if you've never been to a "pho" place, don't be afraid of the plate of mints & spices they bring right before your meal...it's all great stuff and to experience the full taste of the meal, you will want to break it up and add it to your bowl as soon as it arrives! I'm sure there are better establishments like these all over town, but this one is tops for me in our area and it's at a fairly reasonable price! So, if you've never had it, you'll have to try this place because you really don't know what you're missing! - FYI-They ONLY serve "pho"....nothing more, nothing else!
