It's located inside a shopping center, easy to find, and we were greeted right away when we walked in. The service started off great. The gentleman let us pick any table and brought menus over promptly. We had already scoped out a few dishes from TikTok, so we ordered the chicken egg rolls, shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce, pork chop plate, pad see ew, and combination chow mein, along with their glass Coke bottles (which were a nice touch). Everything came out piping hot with generous portions. Since it was our first time, we shared everything and honestly, every single dish hit. The flavors were on point across the board. If you like a little heat like we do, definitely try the chili oil and chili paste on the table. They take it to another level. We left completely full and still had leftovers to take home, which tasted just as good the next day. Great food, great portions, and a solid first experience. I'm Vietnamese so my review might be biased on their pho tai. The broth tasted good although the color was a little dark rather than clear. The clear / golden broth takes a little mastery (parboiling the beef bones to remove impurities and slow simmer rather than boiling) but it could be that they char the onions and ginger which darkens the broth color. Or it could be the fish sauce and toasted spices. The other thing that I immediately noticed was the beef slices didn't come rare, so it was chewy rather than tender. They probably precooked the beef slices, which is the opposite of how Pho Tai should be prepared. Otherwise, flavor profile was not bad but perhaps it's due to this place being Thai/Viet fusion so there's less importance on authenticity. The service was good and the overall decor was cute/ place looked clean. Parking might be tough as there are other businesses in the same plaza. read more

I liked it. Was craving some pho in this cold rainy weather and this place hit the spot. Inside is simply decored, with a few tables for seating. A good place for small groups. I got the rare steak pho and it was good! Exactly what I needed. Their fried rices are pretty good too. They also have a few Thai dishes, rice and noodles, and even some banh mi on the menu. I went in hoping for a comforting, authentic bowl of pho, but the broth was bland and lacked real flavor not what pho should taste like. It wasn't as hearty or beefy as some other places, but it was flavorful enough to satisfy my pho cravings and definitely hit the spot! It's served with a nice platter of beansprouts, basil, and jalapenos, along with the usual array of sauces at the table. The portion of meat wasn't as generous as I would have hoped for but still filling after I had finished the bowl. The service was friendly and attentive. The staff checked in to see if I needed anything and made sure to refill my water, which was much appreciated. The prices were a little on the higher side, but considering I wasn't in the mood to drive all the way to Chinatown or the SGV for pho, this place was more than adequate. It was fairly busy for a Sunday afternoon, but I think there's plenty of parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. I finally got a chance to try this place and ordered a variety of items: pho, papaya salad, sausage fried rice, spring rolls, chai tea, and Thai iced coffee. Starting with the pho -- the broth was a bit bland on its own, but once I added the condiments and herbs, it came together nicely. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10. Next was the sausage fried rice. The sausage itself was sweet and flavorful, but the rice lacked a bit of seasoning. Decent, but nothing standout -- 6/10. The pot su was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Solid, just not special -- 7/10. The spring rolls were large and filling. Paired with the peanut sauce, they were enjoyable, though still fairly standard. I'd rate them an 8/10. The papaya salad was my least favorite. I've had papaya salad many times before, and this one was a bit too hard and crunchy for my taste. The acidity was there, which I liked, but the spice level was very mild -- I could barely taste any heat. Overall, 5/10. On a positive note, the interior aesthetics were really nice. Wow, we were seriously impressed, 10/10. Ever since our trip to Thailand last fall we've been on the hunt for the best Khao Soi, going as far as OC. We've tried a hand full of well known, highly reviewed, popular spots, but Pho District Café blew them out of the water. We came in for lunch on a Wednesday and the place was quiet, which was surprising considering how good everything was. The pork jerky was tasty (especially with the chili sauce), and the fried wontons were insanely crunchy, the perfect texture. We got a side of rice too, and it was a big sharing portion. My husband got the coconut palm drink and it honestly tasted like Southeast Asia in a bottle; sweet, nostalgic, and sooo refreshing over ice. I ordered the Vietnamese drip iced coffee and it was super strong but creamy! Now for the main event: the Khao Soi. It was perfecttttt. Broth was spot on with flavor, not too peanutty or too thick like some versions, and not too overly tangy or thin either. It had a solid level of spice already, but we added a bit more heat and it took it to the next level. The noodles were thick and al dente, just like what we had in Chiang Mai at our favorite Michelin guide spot, and all the toppings were also right. I got the beef, comes with sliced brisket thinner cut, but still super flavorful and honestly better than some "fancier" versions I've tried. I'd just ask for the crispy noodles on the side next time to keep them crunchy longer. Service was great! Super friendly and checked in with us a few times asking if we were happy, full, they went out their way to make sure we were satisfied. Interior is so cute with the spray painted lanterns art and signage, I would come in just for nice coffee and book tbh. I've seen a couple reviews about wait times, but honestly, they're still relatively new, so I say give them a little grace! Good food is worth the wait in my opinion! So they gave me 5 small pieces. Then barely any tendon! Upsetting since its $18. They packed it with tripe. My 16 yr old daughter felt the exact same. She had barely any meeeeeat and tendon!!! She said it was ok, but Not good. The veggie rolls were only ok nothing special. I had the iced Vietnamese coffee it was good. She had water. Met some love you long time friends here for lunch. Same great vibe as the previous restaurant that occupied this space before. Tasteful contemporary decor and some really nice tranquil ambient music coming from the big screen with a zen image behind the service station. Our server was very pleasant and kept our water glasses full. We tried the pork jerky, a couple orders of different eggs rolls, the khao soi noodle soup, which I had read a rave review here on Yelp so had to try. Honestly it fell a little flat for me, but was too spicy for my friend next to me. I didn't care for the artist arrangement on the top that was both crunch and soggy. The fried rice was light and flavorful. It was a healthy portion and took some home and made a meal from the leftovers. Lunch for all of us including tip was $25 each which is a great value. None of my buddies were fans of eggplant, so we didn't order it. I will def come back with a dif posse to try that and some other items on the menu. Parking: tight parking in the corner of a very busy street, but surprisingly not bad. This location took over a regular Thai spot for me. Glad to say I'm happy with how this place turned out. Ordered the pho with rare steak and a beef fried rice. The pho wasn't bad, but the best part was the portion size. So much food and that for me makes up for some lack of quality(not to say it's bad, just not the best). Beef fried rice was tasty and didn't need extra seasoning and the portions were very big. Service was good. I only had to ask for water once and then the rest of the time they came and filled it up. Food came out in a timely manner. Went on a Sunday evening and it was packed. The server told us the food would take a while and it did! We waited 45 minutes foe the food to come out. Since it's a new place I decided not to be too harsh on the rating. Pho was OK nothing sepcial. Their Khao Soi noodles was pretty good! I recommend. W O W! THIS is an excellent addition to the already delicious selection of restaurants in the NELA area. My spousal unit is sick and needed a chicken soul for the soul and throat to soothe him. After reading the reviews here I called in a to go order for Chicken Pho Ga and Shrimp Spring Rolls. I wish k had taken more photos but my stomach was doing the talking. The BROTH was the most aromatic and flavorful I have EVER had. Wow. A little earthy, a little herbaceous, and seasoned perfectly. The chicken breast pieces looked like wings from a dove, Snow White and juicy. (Not that I have ever eaten a dove, ok I guess that is a weird comparison. But it was so good, and you are still reading, so...) I snapped a pic of the quasi-burrito sized shrimp spring rolls. Fresh, and delicious! I feel like a walking heath nut after eating it! The sauces also tasted fresh and multi-layered! I'm so into this place! I can't really comment on the service since I only got to-go, but the staff was very kind and no weirdness. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also nice enough that I would eat in as well. It's a no frills and simple spot in a strip mall on the corner of York and Eagle Rock. I didn't go with any expectations and it definitely surpassed it. The food was amazing. The restaurant was clean and looked good. The service was good and the food came out quickly. Not sure if maybe it was the end of the say and they had to quicly make some broth or had the stretch the broth, but I was disappointed with the Pho. To me, the broth is what amkes or breaks a pho. While ingredients in the pho was good, the broth was thin and lack flavor. I found myself adding a lot of hoisin and chili sauce to bump up the flavor. So, I changed the spark plugs on my car today - first time doing that. If you haven't done it before, just watch a few YouTube videos, take your time, pay attention to details and it should all go well. It did for me. Anyway, that's not the point of this. The point is: while taking a quick test drive through the neighborhood after everything was buttoned up, my wife and I realized we were quite hungry. She had been down a rabbit hole on her own project an we had both forgotten to eat - you know how it is... As we were heading south on Eagle Rock Blvd, about to take a left on York to head back home, I suddenly remembered that there's a Pho place on that corner that we had been meaning to try. So we swung into the little parking lot and in we went. First off, the atmosphere is perfect for a small Vietnamese/Thai spot in a strip mall: clean and casual with cool murals on all the walls; pleasant house music playing in the background at a perfectly reasonable level. There is a bench along one wall, with 4-5 tables, and a section of about 5-6 tables on the other side of there room, next to the cash/counter. The tables are spaced well enough apart to not be cramped in any way, while not feeling sparse or empty - it's really well spatially balanced and I appreciate that. Lighting was bright enough without being glaring. We sat along the wall (me on the bench, my wife across from me) and a perfectly pleasant woman - not sure whether she was the owner of manager - came by with menus for us. A quick perusal revealed a moderate selection of Vietnamese and Thai mainstays - Pho, Ban Mi, Pad Thai etc. Not an overwhelming variety, but certainly many great options. We were straight up looking for pho, so it was an easy order: one Pho Tai, one Pho Ga. She took our order, brought us a couple of ice waters and was back within 10 minutes carrying two large bowls of pho. Large. Like, I didn't fully finish my broth large, and my wife took half of hers to go large. Love it. The bowls were served atop big plates loaded with plenty of the standard garnishes of Thai basil, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeño. It was all delicious and fresh. The broth was exactly what I had hoped for: hot and flavorful, with a rich clove-y aroma. It reminded me of the pho at one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants back in Montreal..! Both bowls had plenty of light, thin, satisfying noodles - and they weren't all stuck together in a clump, as is sometimes the unfortunate case. I always mix a little dish of hoisin and sriracha, as I did this time, but the owner (?) also brought over a couple of little jars of homemade chili sauce. They were both quite spicy and flavorful - the paste was quite complex and the more saucy one was somewhat brighter. Try them!
