Best Vietnamese iced coffee here, no contest. Good price, cold, perfect nutty Chocolatey flavor just from coffee beans!!! Not too sweet and perfect pick me up during the work day. I have not tried any other food here but I'm trying a banh mi today and I know it will be delicious. The people I've met behind the counter are very nice and helpful. Always so nice :)

Delicious Vietnamese food. Not certain where my original review went. I've been dining here for 10 years. Over the years, I've had the Bánh Mi sandwich, chicken pho soup, the vermicelli noodles, rice and meat dishes, and spring rolls. Service is always consistent. It's family owned so you get that authentic-family feel. Casual dining. You order and they bring the food out to you. Then you pay at the counter in the back before you leave. Delicious food. Always piping hot and good portions. Highly recommend.

This review is only for the pho. I ordered the rare steak, with extra rare steak. My usual pho. I ordered a large bowl. It wasn't very satisfying for my taste. The broth just wasn't it. I'm sure they have other great things on the menu. The restaurant was very clean. The workers were attentive. There's plenty of parking.

I have been to other locations and this is good just not as good as Centreville. I got a large pho with brisket and rare steak. The rare steak was not good but the brisket was. I liked how the place had a large space for seating so it was really easy to get a table. I would still say a solid place for pho.

Don't let the name Pho fool you - the menu is vast with yummy Viet dishes. Stop here often as it's mid way after visit to dad's grave (FFx memorial) and mom's house. Bonus, right next to Traders Joe for quick grocery stop. Portions are generous even the apps. They have five different locations, so obviously can cook very well. Service friendly and quick.

One of my favorite spots in the DMV for Vietnamese cuisine. Ordered the summer rolls, broken rice dish with pork chop, and bun mam. Their bun mam soup is insanely delicious.

My go to for door dash for no ratings for service or ambiance. Big portions for the price, lots of meat. The broth is just a little oily but otherwise this place is delicious and the best value out there right now. I always get the combo. Happy eats!

Nothing exceptional but good quality, good food And a fair amount of steak in mine for $16. I wish I could say the same about the service or lack there of provided by the two young female servers. For starters, they have zero communication skills. They drop things at the table and just stand there without a word. I did not receive the Vietnamese coffee that I ordered until I asked for it nor was I asked whether or not I wanted it with whipped cream - there's was no description on the menu so I wasn't aware it came with whipped cream. When we placed our order we asked for extra cilantro and received no cilantro at all. Once the runner delivered our food no one came over to ask how everything had turned out, if we needed anything else etc. The lack of communication, lack of attention to detail and quite frankly complete lack of personality turned a pleasant afternoon meal into a disappointment. It's a shame because I saw several other things on the menu that I'd like to try but I'm not interested in being in that unpleasant atmosphere again

Service was prompt, with food delivered shortly after ordering; however, the staff seemed unenthusiastic and unfriendly. Portions were generous; the Grilled Pork Sausage and Fresh Spring Rolls were freshly prepared and flavorful, with fresh cucumber adding crispness. The house specialty, Pho Dac Biet, was generously portioned and served hot; however, I could detect traces of MSG in the broth, which caused a lingering tingling sensation in my mouth, and I kept drinking water afterward. The sauce bottles on the table and the table itself were sticky, indicating a need for cleaning to enhance the overall dining experience.

Wow, we were really impressed by Gao's chicken pho and crepe! Absolutely we will be back…read more When we came a bit before noon there was just one other customer. But by the time we left, most of the tables were taken. Service was excellent with our orders prepared correctly. The conventional wisdom around these parts is that Pho 75 has the best pho, but I think Gao's delicious chicken broth just might have an edge over Pho 75's broth. The shrimp crepe was amazing. With the perfect texture it was delicious. Next time here I'm going to order this baby. We also ordered the crispy party wings. They had a perfect level of saltiness and the wings were only lightly seasoned with five spice. Lastly, we opted for the Vietnamese coffee. Gao's coffee is so tasty. Paired with condensed milk it's excellent. Love it!

Gao actually deserves 4 stars, but I had to deduct a star because I left hungry!…read more We found Gao after running errands in the Microcenter shopping center and came in around 6pm today on a Wednesday evening for dinner. There were plenty of open tables but no staff in the front when we arrived so we stood around for 2-3 minutes waiting to be seated. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated with a subtle hint to Vietnamese culture. Like many casual Viet joints around here, there was a TV showcasing Vietnam tourism, although the TV in the back was also showing Japan tourism which was odd. We were brought two cups of water with no ice and had to request ice, which was also odd considering it was in the upper 80s outside. The menu has many Viet cuisine classics like pho, bahn mi, bun, bun bo hue, ba cua, and com tam. Although we're in peak heat of summer, I could never turn down a bowl of pho! I was a little confused as the menu was entirely in English and I usually know my order in Vietnamese and couldn't tell which English option it was as the English descriptors were kinda generic. It's a little saddening that the owners thought that a bilingual menu would be more of an obstacle than an opportunity for their customers to learn and connect with the food and culture. There might be something more there but I'll let my therapist unravel that one lol. I customized to my usual pho tai gan. Herbs, especially the basil, was very fresh and I appreciated the big leaves. The lime was kinda dry. Noodles were al dente and I like mine a little more done but the texture evened out as the hot broth kept cooking it while I was eating. The soup was good and flavorful, well balanced and not too "clean" and not too "dirty". The soup was the highest ranking component but the soup to noodles ratio was off, with too little noodles, hence, leaving me with almost half a bowl of broth and a half empty stomach by the time I finished the meat and noodles. The flank was cooked well-done and I would have preferred the traditional way of serving the meat raw in the boiling soup. My favourite ingredient in any pho is tendon and the tendon here I can only describe as displeasurable. The texture was too soft and goopy and the taste was very bland like it was added to the soup before serving instead of absorbing any of the soup flavour. It's like how honey or brown sugar boba is the norm now so when you go to a place where the tapioca isn't soaked in sugar it is a bland and unsettling taste. Overall I would rank the pho well, beating out local places like Pho Duong and Pho 4 ever, but not able to topple the OG, Pho 75. I'm hoping these quirks from my visit today are addressed to improve the dining experience and add more commitment to the Vietnamese culture.

Having grown up with fine Vietnamese cuisine thanks to Bethesda's Green Papaya, my dining companion and I had felt over a decade of void (of exceptional Viet cuisine, in general) since its closing nearly 14.5 years ago. Recommended to us by one of our students who volunteers as a community organizer for Eden Center and other Vietnamese-owned small businesses, NUE with its incredible first impression has us beyond thrilled to have found a spiritual successor to our dear Green Papaya (albeit a bit more modern in style and even fancier). Since it was our first time visiting the Founder's Row mall, it took us a moment to get our bearings (the biggest parking entrance is on the southern side of the development but there are elevators that lead to the main area further northwest along Broad Street (including NUE, Ellie Bird, and Fish Taco) as well as the QR Code-based parking system. After scanning the QR code for parking, it was not too difficult to utilize it (NUE provides a code for 2 hours validated parking). Upon entering, we were greeted warmly by our server Joshua, who took great care of us throughout our celebration lunch and is very knowledgeable about the food as well as the restaurant group. Also, kudos Kyung at NUE's parent group (Happy Endings Hospitality) for acting super promptly (just over an hour later on a Saturday!) to an query I came across regarding their membership rewards. As for the restaurant's ambiance, it is decorated with a beautiful mural and the artistic direction reflective of Co-Owner Tuyet Nhi Le's heritage (her grandfather who was a famous painter). Upon sitting down and being served our requested hot water+lemons, we could notice the attention to little details (metal chopstick holder, bamboo lids atop our hot water glass, and later, the onyx-handled knife for the Fried Fluke). Speaking of the fish, our favorite celebration entree at Green Papaya was a Fried Flounder, and wouldn't you know it, one of NEV's "Iconic & Shareable" entrees is their Whole Fried Fluke with a bouquet of Fresh Herbs, Rice Noodle Rolls, and Pineapple Nước Chấm! This alone got us to slog through I-495 traffic across the river (congested even on a weekend for lunch!). In addition to the quality of ingredients (fish and herbs), Executive Chef Daniel Lê's thoughtful touches really stand out. For the fish, he debones the fluke's central bone while retaining its structure to make nearly the entire fish edible. As for the execution, the fish was prepared with optimal salinity, a delicate hand to let the innate flavors stand out, and superb texture (especially loved the crunchy dorsal fins, collar, and tail fin that were easy to eat completely). The abundance of fresh mint, Thai Basil, cilantro, and red leaf lettuce added a refreshing contrast together with the dynamic dipping sauce (slightly viscous to cling to the rice noodles and herbs), plump limes, and savory toppings (fried garlic-peanuts & fried scallion+oil). At $98, it represented a good value as the outstanding quality was matched by generous portion, satisfying both of our appetites (we purposefully ate very light yesterday) and left us with just enough room for dessert. To conclude our absolutely delectable meal were the Tropical Chè (~fruit parfait with coconut milk tapioca pudding, pineapple-mango-passion fruit sorbet, Thai Basil Seeds, mango, lychees) and the birthday treat of Fried Sweet Yuca with Salted Caramel Ice Cream and Waffle Feuilletine. The duo offered a lovely contrast of temperature (former being ~ fancy Halo Halo, latter being warm and comforting ~more substantial Mochi Donut-meets-steak cut fries), textures (tender, crunchy, QQ, and crisp) and flavors (floral, fruity, neutral-savory, salty)! To top it off, they included a Birthday Card featuring their signature artwork and a generous gift to welcome us back for our next visit! All in all, NUE is what we had been starving for the nearly past 15 years: a fine Viet restaurant that delivers fantastic food; warm, attentive, and welcoming service; classy ambiance for a special occasions, entertaining VIP guests, or just a fancy meal to treat yourself! With Joy by Seven Reasons having closed earlier this year, we had lost a dear favorite that starred fancy Fried Fish (Dorade) in a tropical culinary backdrop (Pan-Latin). NUE also fills that void. Now, if only NUE open a second location in the Bethesda-Rockville area like Joy!
