What are the best pho I've had although I had a qualm about a lemon being served instead of a lime Over I would have this fun again. It was really good.

Pork Banh Mi Sandwich with OG Spring Rolls
    Sam J.

Stopped by this food hall while in town. Was in the mood for a sandwich and decided to get a bahn mi from district 1 pho. Saying I was underwhelmed may be an understatement but I will leave it at that. I ordered a bahn mi with bbq pork. 1) the pork was dry and very overcooked. 2) there was barely enough pork on the sandwich to consider the pork making it a sandwich. I got the traditional spring rolls as the side. Decent flavor but not enough of anything to make it a real dish. Thai ice tea to wash it down. Its flavor was way off. And that all cost me $30. There's a lot of options in the hall and on the menu. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. At least I got a good picture from my visit.

If you want something hot to sooth the belly, District 1 Pho is the place for you. It is slightly pricey all things considered and although the Pho was somewhat standard, it was still enjoyable. Service was quick (took about 5 minutes to get the order) and it comes with small packets of hoisen sauce and hot sauce. Located in the food hall where seating is first come first serve. It gets pretty loud and busy on the weekend but it's a great place to hang out.

Please take this off the menu if this is the portion you're going to give people for $18. This is how the plate came out. I can understand the amount of steak, but like... more fries would be nice or even some rice and veggies? I side of pho broth? Anything. There's like 20 fries on here. Maybe less. We tried asking for a refund or an exchange and they couldn't do that. They could only give a DISCOUNT for another item on the menu... I'm not a person who likes to complain, but $18 for these fries in this economy?

This pho spot is located in the Windmill food hall in Carlsbad. It is a casual food hall with many options to choose from. Seating was not too hard to find in the afternoon and the food hall has both dim and natural lighting areas. I was craving something soup related so I was happy to see a pho spot here! They also have rice options and banh mi I believe. I ordered pho tai which was $16 and the wait was about 10 minutes. The soup is more on the sweeter side which I didn't mind but I felt like there wasn't that much meat in my bowl. I expected more slices of meat since it was $40 for 2 bowls of pho. They offer sriracha, hoisin, and chili packets on the side along with the usual Thai basil, bean sprouts, and lime.

Decent pho inside the food hall! Decided to try this and give it a shot and I was surprised how delicious it was! Went with the BYO pho which came with all the usual toppings of basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapeño slices. The broth was flavorful with a good amount of meat! The egg rolls tasted funny maybe because of taro and jicama and dry. Since we went on a Saturday night around 7 pm it was crowded af. Super hard to get seating btw. Service was mid and felt like a long time but they were really busy and doing to go orders also. Overall good food, just be prepared to wait in peak hours!

I visited District 1 for the first time, and it instantly reminded me of a gastro-food street back in my hometown Moscow -- a lively hall with several kitchens where you can explore different cuisines. I ordered Phở Bò (Vietnamese beef noodle soup), and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich, fragrant, and perfectly balanced -- exactly the way I like it. I came in really hungry, and this soup completely won me over. Honestly, one of the best phở I've had in the area. To drink, I tried a Thai Iced Tea, and it was just as impressive -- sweet, creamy, and refreshing with its unique flavor. A perfect combo with the soup. The service was quick, prices are reasonable, and the whole atmosphere felt cozy and vibrant -- it even reminded me of being back home. If you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine, District 1 is definitely worth a visit!

Husband ordered the classic pho for $19 today. Expensive but the flavors were decent. Noodles are enough.

Average tasting pho. Broth was too salty as well. I havent had too much pho in the area, but if you go north there are way better places.

It is located in a small strip with parking lot and has some indoor and outdoor seating. This is my second time trying board and brew in general and I am really underwhelmed with the sandwiches. This time, I tired the Baja wrap and it was really lacking flavor and was overwhelmed with guacamole. We ordered my son the kids grilled cheese, which was decent for him. We added a side of avocado for him and to my disappointment again, it was mashed avocado in a bowl instead of freshly sliced as I was envisioning. I will give it one more chance when I am able to eat the cold deli meat and see if those sandwiches are better for me.

Family-Friendly Escape Near Legoland…read more While staying at the nearby Legoland Hotel, a few of us moms decided to sneak away from our husbands and kids for a quick break, and this place was a fantastic find! It features a variety of food stalls serving fresh, high-quality dishes, which was a very welcome break from the typical fried hotel food. With options ranging from pizza and fried chicken to a great selection of Asian cuisines like Thai and Chinese, it is an easy way to accommodate different tastes within a family or across multiple families. I especially loved the fresh, piping-hot dishes (we got the pad see ew) from the Thai food stall paired with a delicious cocktail from the central bar. Before heading back, we also grabbed some mini donuts to bring to the kids. The space is incredibly accommodating, with plenty of indoor seating options including bar tables, cozy booths, and standard tables. On top of that, they have several arcade games on-site, making this a highly viable and fun dining option for families with kids. Would recommend as a viable option if you're in the area.

Well, if you're hungry but can't exactly decide how to satisfy that hunger, just follow the windmill to the Windmill Food Hall. That's what we did and were soon face-to-face with fourteen different food vendors, ranging the ethnic gamut from Thai to Chinese to Sushi to Burgers to Lobster to Pizza to Mexican and pretty much anything your hungry little heart craves. Our party of three scattered into three directions and reunited at a table for our eclectic lunch. My wife went with meatballs from Cacio because Craft Pizza didn't sell slices, just a 12" pizza. My brother-in-law went with a Honey Walnut Shrimp plate from Secret Sauce Wok, and I went with sushi and miso soup from Rolled Up Sushi. I loved my lunch, starting with a nice flavorful Miso Soup ($5) that was served in a coffee cup! My eight Spicy Tuna Rolls ($14) were most definitely spicy. Now, since I love spicy food I was thrilled because 98% of the spicy tuna rolls I've had over the years are ho-hum on the old spiciness meter. Not these. The food hall was packed, and we saw many families having lunch there. Kids were all over, including some uniformed sports teams. The kids were also at the many video and arcade games on the premises, while bigger kids were entertaining themselves at Windmill's big bar. What a fun place for a fun food experience.
