Updated review since trying their beef intestine hotpot. If your taste buds are feeling adventurous, definitely recommend their beef hotpot with intestine. Loved everything about it. You can call ahead to order before you arrive so that it's ready to go when you arrive.

Bun bo hue dat P1. Pho Ha Noi Dac Biet - Regular
    Phoenix P.

Last time I ate here was 5 years ago and even then I wasn't impressed. Since then it has changed ownership so I wanted to give it another try and sadly I won't be back. We ordered the bun bo hue dat biet (comes with a sad pork hock) and hu tieu nam vang. The bun bo hue is on the sweeter side which threw me off as typically it should have a more savory, hearty taste. The hu tieu was decent but could have been a little more generous with the meat portion itself. If you're looking for a no frills Vietnamese restaurant offering basic dishes that won't make a dent in your wallet, I guess this is the place to eat at.

The thing I like about this place is they serve a decent variety of Vietnamese soup dishes. My go to is the bun Bo hue. They have all the cuts of meat I like including pork blood cubes. I do wish they gave you shrimp paste on the side. Instead I think it's partially mixed in with the sate chili stuff they bring you. I also wish they gave you basil with it. I've had their bun mang vit and bánh canh here as well. Both are good. And I always grab a Thai tea as well! The interior is just no frills, but no complaints. Service is always super fast. I never have to wait to be seated and the food comes very quickly.

This hidden gem seems to be on its third change of ownership. We're loyal customers, and happy that the food has been consistently good. We only ever order two things here: pho & ap chao. Both are always on point and served hot straight from the kitchen. The veggies and herbs are always fresh. I also love their homemade chili oil, which comes as a standard table condiment alongside the requisite sriracha, hoisin & soy. Pho Ha Noi seems to be the only place in town that has ap chao on the menu--it's absolutely delicious. One of my favorite crispy noodle dishes of all time!

Great hidden gem! Food taste authentic and flavorful. They serve the specialties that are not offered widely in Austin, that I love: Bun Bo Hue and Bun Mam. Easy order out and pick up, plenty of parking. Yet, you must prepare: they take Cash or Venmo/Zelle ONLY!

I haven't tried many dishes here but the Ca Kho To and Canh Chua were pretty decent for the Austin area. The fish was well flavored, tender, and fatty enough without being too overwhelming. The soup was so refreshing, although I wish they would add okra. Good service. Everyone there was very sweet. Chill vibe inside, very lowkey. My fiance liked the pho here but I haven't tried it myself. Will return to try their Bun Bo Hue at some point.

    Beef vermicelli bowl
    Mark F.

Had the beef vermicelli bowl today. I have to admit, I wasn't the biggest fan of the taste and texture of the beef. I am much more partial to beef that has a really tender texture, this was more chewy and not as appetizing to me. They do give you a lot to chow down on so kudos for that and the rest of the ingredients were plentiful and good. Next time pork maybe? My dining partner also ordered spring rolls with very (VERY) specific instructions that I am allergic to shrimp. Like ER room allergic. I also emphasized this and we both felt they clearly understood that one has just pork and one has pork and shrimp. Guess what I got? Pork (with shrimp under the pork!). So my first bit was a spit out and I had to explain (again) that unless they have an epi pen handy I cannot eat shrimp. 2nd order was correct. Phew.

Great local Vietnamese restaurant. I love how friendly the staff is. Prices are very affordable. There's parking in the parking lot. I got the fresh pork spring rolls and the beef lettuce wraps. Just try to appetizers here, but they brought it to me in 10 minutes as a to go order!

Hu tieu ap chao Bo/ crispy pan fried flat noodles with beef and veggies. So tasty!
    Phuong C.

And just like that, we got a new favorite in our household! And it's not because of its' pho! Every Vietnamese restaurant, sure has a variety of soups, noodles, rice and meat dishes. And you know how one place is really good, is when you find a lot Vietnamese people. Found in this somewhat sketchy neighborhood close to a gas station, is this hole in the wall, a place that I'm about to rave about. I recall visiting here once before, and their Northern pho did not beat the Southern pho down the street. But on this particular Father's Day, we were on a quest to find his requested dish: Hu tieu ap chao thit Bo. The entire place was filled with Vietnamese people. I guess Vietnamese fathers love Vietnamese food! And my old man was craving for a crispy pan fried flat noodles with beef, that has not met his standards yet. A somewhat rare dish, and places have failed in crispness, or seasoning. Well, we got a winner! If you want that crispness (pan burnt pieces because that's what is wanted) and yet the softness of silky flat noodles, with a savory seasoning and sweetness of veggies, than this is it! Highly recommended! Now, their traditional BO LUC LAC is a MUST, too! Their beef was so soft and tasty! But the absolute winner....is... Tatum tadum.... Salt and Pepper Shrimp! Guaranteed, better than other places that tried for sure! We had 2 orders, and oh it was gone in a flash, as we were all picking from it. (family style) Let's talk about their prices and serving sizes. Worth every penny! Yes, you pay a little more than the usual restaurant. BUT you get large portions! Served on large (maybe 16") clean white plates! AND You get quality food! Worth all the 5 stars.

Those circles of white were the chao. The few slivers of beef were tough and tasteless.

Good service, good presentation. Questionable food quality. Ordered the beef ap chao and the shaking beef. The beef was such poor quality it was like chewing on shoe leather with just as much flavor. The ap chao was particularly sad. Back in the day, the dish took 20 + minutes to make. This time the chao was presented in dollops pf quasi crispiness, sadly lacking the the nuances of flavor this dish could have. Apparently one of the reviews mentioned that this place has changed hands 3 times. That's not necessarily bad, but in this case, it's not working out. Such a shame.

    Pho Ha Noi Dac Biet
    Manuel C.

I really like this place, I had the Pho Dac Biet - their "everything but the kitchen sink" pho : rib eye round steak, well-done flank, beef balls, marbled brisket, soft tendons and beef tripe. (đặc biệt means "special" so one place that has this name may be completely different from another place, just a heads up) I've never had soft tendons so I was a little confused when I first had this. If you're an all-meat kinda guy or gal then I suggest perhaps one of the other options :) nevertheless the broth was of good quality and the meat was delicious. The second time I came here I had the Ap Chào, since I saw so many reviews about it. It was good but I've never had it before so I didn't know what to compare it to but it was tasty and I will try it again! (I had the one with chicken, beef and shrimp) The third time I came here I got the bún măng vịt (some kind of duck noodle soup) - but I didn't expect it to be with bones - Tony checked up on me to make sure I was doing okay haha I think he could tell it was my first time eating that dish, but it was still delicious! He's a cool guy, and I think he adds to the experience at Pho Ha Noi.

Pho (Hu Tieu) Ap Chao ($16)
    Rebecca L.

One of the best Hu Tieu Ap Chao in Austin. It's definitely the cry crunchiest but the noodles are broken into small pieces. Very large portion though ($16) although I suppose you're paying for it. Uniquely to other places, it comes with a sweet, soy, tangy dipping sauce that I ended up using quote a bit. Then their Bo Luc Lac Shaken Beef is not that bad. They're cut the thickest. Not too tender but still good and although it looks like it's sitting on pale vegetables, the sauce dressing that it's in, is addicting! Conducted themselves safely during our experience.

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

I had my boyfriend pick up the food and he forgot to check for the hoisin sauce. I can't eat pho without it, so I called the store and was told it was offered but that he must not have heard the employee asking. I tried to eat the pho anyway, and it ended up being one of the worst bowls of pho I've ever had. I'm Vietnamese, so I know what good pho should taste like. The broth was extremely bland and watered down, with no aroma or real pho flavor. Without hoisin sauce it was even worse. I tried adding seasoning to make it taste decent but nothing helped. The noodles were also hard and clumped together in one big chunk. I had to microwave them for about three minutes just to get them to separate. In the end, I gave up and threw away our 2 -$18 bowl of pho. The broth tasted worse than instant pho. Very disappointing. I should have known better than to order pho downtown.

The service is amazing as well, the servers are super sweet and are very quick to serve you and get what you need. The menu offers a bunch of things, appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and the drinks! Most of all, there's a bunch of vegan dishes which I absolutely love. The food is always delicious I've been trying the vegan dishes recently and I love them a lot (as someone who doesn't like vegan dishes normally)!
