Came here for the first time today and ordered the Bo Ne (Sizzling Steak & Eggs Skillet). I enjoyed the portion to cost ratio, the amount of steak they provided, and absolutely loved the pate flavor! The location is great. The restaurant itself is spacious, ambient, and provides a great atmosphere to dine at. Parking is free at the local retail garage, just a short walk from the restaurant. Friendly service and my food came out in a timely manner. My only critique is the baguette. You could tell it was not fresh and just heated up. Which isn't a deal breaker, but it was pretty stale and chewy. The salad was okay, but I still enjoyed it overall. I absolutely am a huge fan of Bo Ne, and will be back in the future to get more. The pho here is honestly pretty solid by Austin standards, especially considering the limited competition. I'd say it's above average, and I'm happy to come here on days when I don't feel like making the drive out to Pho Phong Luu. They also offer bún bò Huế, which may not compare to some of the spots I've tried in Houston or Garden Grove, but it still hits the spot when I'm craving it locally. The crawfish fried rice, however, fell short of expectations and is probably the one dish I wouldn't recommend. Overall, this is a decent Vietnamese restaurant and a convenient option if you're looking for satisfying pho or bún bò Huế without traveling too far but I wouldn't go out of my way to come where. read more

Finally made it north to try this mom pop and it did not disappoint. Been wanting to try this place as they have authentic unique Vietnamese dishes you don't see often in other spots like the street fishes (snails, goat curry...etc.) . Nice staff. Pork egg rolls crispy and on point! Bun Bo Hue spicy goodness with extra fixins to make it as pungent and strong as you like. Goat curry was plentiful and so flavorful! I've tried both the bun bo hue and bo luc lac. The steak/bo luc loc I recommend. The beef is tender and the veggies are fresh. Service is fast and there's plenty of seating. We ordered through DoorDash and the food arrived in about 40 minutes. Fried Taro Cake / Bot Chien ($14.40): This was just okay. The sauce was good, but the bot chien itself was not crispy. Definitely not worth the price. Banh Mi Xa Xiu / BBQ Pork Sandwich ($12): The bread was not crispy, the BBQ pork was a bit dry, and the flavors were very lackluster. I did not taste any pate or egg mayo and the veggies were sparse. It was so underwhelming that we ended up dipping it into the bot chien sauce just to give it some moisture. We also added Chin-su sauce to help with the flavor. The sandwich was not cut in half either. My friend shared this place with me and said, "you have to go for their lunch special," so I did! The seating was "sit wherever you'd like" and, once I was seated, the solo woman brought out my menu and my utensils. Cheap napkins, chopsticks, and clean silverware were in the basket. The menu is sort of confusing...but navigating it is easy with the server. I ordered chicken pho with a tofu spring roll. The options were only beef, chicken, or tofu. I wish there had been shrimp! The pho broth is always how I rate a restaurant like this. Their broth was above average & I was really pleased. Their bean sprouts, Thai basil, and other toppings were super fresh. The iced tea was unique but I only got one refill. The Sweet N Low was old and crusty. My biggest gripe was the price (I almost walked out spending $25 on lunch) and second gripe was the chicken in the pho had some tendons and crunchy parts as well as having some hard to chew bits. I wasn't that hopeful coming to a new place because I am often skeptical of fusion and not like "traditional" places. But I will say, this is one of the best phos I have ever had. I got the brisket and steak pho, and the tenderness of the brisket was genuinely shocking. The sizing was a little smaller than what I am used to (I think there was a large option that I missed) and there wasn't any basil that I could add. But yeah the flavors were so good, the broth, meat, noodle, everything legit tasted so good. Okay, i just tried my girlfriend's short rib pho, and THAT one is it. So tender and juicy, you borderline have to get that one. I also got spring rolls and they were pretty meh, pretty standard, nothing to write home about. They weren't wrapped tightly enough for my liking and the lettuce was really strong. But the pho, man the pho is special. Okay, I just went up to pay, and holy cow that was expensive. I guess adding the spring rolls really made it expensive. The short rib was also like $7 more. I guess that might just be how expensive short rib is. It was definitely good so I guess I'm not too upset about it. They definitely lose some points on the TPD rating (taste per dollar). Still overall a good experience. I've gone twice and it's still one of the more underrated Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The name might make it sound overly modern, but they actually serve a strong lineup of traditional Vietnamese dishes, including hard-to-find đồ nhậu (drinking food). Last visit we had the goat hotpot, basil clams, and coconut snails. This time, we stuck with more typical lunch and dinner dishes: Bò lá lốt (beef in betel leaves) - moist, flavorful, not overcooked. The best I've had in Austin and I never usually use the word "best" Bò lúc lắc (shaking beef) - tender, buttery, and can be served with egg noodles if you want something different. Bò né (Vietnamese steak and eggs) - same great beef on a sizzling plate, served with pate, butter, salad, and a sunny side up egg. Chè ba màu - surprisingly rare in Austin. This one was close, just missing the beans. Salt & pepper calamari - big chunks, tender, well-seasoned, served with salt, pepper, and lime. They've also got $4 draft beers and happy hour specials and TVs, which makes it a solid casual spot for drinks. Huge space (great for group events or corporate dinners) and they even have claw machines. They're more well-known in the Vietnamese snd ATX Asian Food Facebook groups. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for Vietnamese food beyond just pho. read more

First time here and when you walk in, you are greeted by a sign to wait to be seated. The restaurant is extremely short staff. There's one person checking out people, handling to go orders, and waiting tables and taking order. I genuinely feel bad for the guy. We came on a Friday evening for dinner. There were a few people seated but it definitely got busier as we dined. Good we ordered: * hot and sour soup- 4/5 definitely in the sour side. Filling to soup ratio is great. Not just broth. * crispy tofu-2/5 the tofu was not crispy but we enjoyed it with the dipping sauce. The perfect bite is the tofu with the red bell pepper. * bun Bo hue: 3/5 not best I've ever had but it's decent. The pork blood was tasty and I wish there was more than two small cubes. I love that they had the traditional pork feet in it. The meat was super chewy. The broth flavor was on the salty side but it needed more lemongrass flavor. The noodles needed 1 more min to cook to be perfect. * coconut milk snails: 1/5 the flavor of the coconut is great but the snails j couldn't even get out. Instead of the snails being in the front entrance of the snails they are all the way in the back and it was super duper small. I've had this dish where it's super easy to just get a tooth pick and pull them out. I'm wondering if the snails were frozen and not super fresh live ones before cooking. FYI: To go boxes and containers are located on the table next to the entrance door. Self serving station. And after eating you go to the cash register and pay or else you will be sitting there a while waiting on the one staff. Would I recommend The pho? They put beef organ meat in my Pho when I never ordered that. I had a terrible experience here and would not recommend ordering from this restaurant. My pho arrived with beef organs in it, even though that was not what I ordered or expected. The smell, texture, and overall presentation were so unpleasant that I couldn't finish the meal and ended up throwing it away. For the price, this was extremely disappointing. A restaurant should be clear about what is included in a dish, especially when it comes to organ meat. This completely ruined my appetite. Cute little restaurant near ACC. I have been a couple of times and it has not been busy when I've gone yet. They move fast. They will get you seated, take your order, and bring your food out incredibly quickly. As a vegetarian, I enjoyed that the back page of their menu was made entirely of veggie options. I have had the spring rolls and the tofu Bahn Mi. Both have these thick slabs of tofu in them. I have to admit I enjoy it them despite that the flavor doesn't go deep into the tofu cuts. The Bahn mi sauce is so good, and the bread is great! It's crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. The only thing I tried here was the pork chop with rice. I thought it was pretty good! The pork was just a little bit sour (I think from the lemongrass) but it didn't bother me as the overall flavor was good. Meat was tender. One thing that stood out to me was their fish sauce. I can't believe this gem has been opened 4-5 years and it is the first time I've known about it. We ordered bbh, vermicelli, rice plate, clams, and bo la lot. Everything was delicious and authentic! The bbh is probably the best in Austin, with robust flavors, the correct meat, tendon, blood, and pork. My husband even drank some of my broth because it was so good. They also have very hard to find dishes such as clam, bo la lot, coconut escargot, nem, and bo ne. They have ample parking right next to the restaurant that a lot of people miss. I wish we had known about it sooner! After one meal it is already one of my favorite restaurants. We will be back! read more

We got the Bo Ne (Sizzling Beef), basically the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs, and the Wonton Noodle Soup. I would say both dishes were okay, not stellar but not bad either. The sizzling beef was different from what I expected with beef chunks instead of the usual beef steak but the baguette that paired with it was very good, had a buttery taste to it. Perhaps come here and stick to the Vietnamese dishes or soup/pho dishes rather than the Chinese/Thai ones. Good for a quick pick-me up, seems like you can also get 10% off when you check-in. From the exterior, the restaurant has a modern, inviting vibe. Upon entry, the restaurant was eerily empty with only two customers, no one at the cash register, and two children running around and screaming. It took a few minutes for the workers to realize we needed to order and that another customer (who had ordered ahead) was waiting for his food. The worker was very friendly and the food came out pretty fast. But he did hand us a glass bottle of water that seemed to have floating particles (dust?) in it. The plastic cups also smelled like boba. Overall the food was pretty tasty (except for the fried chicken. for $12, it was not worth it) at a reasonable price point but the ambiance felt a bit off. This review is strictly about their crawfish during crawfish season. Delicious crawfish boil at The Pho!!! We visited The Pho for the first time and also to try their crawfish boil that they make for the first time and it was delicious! They're doing happy hour from 4pm - 6pm every day for $8.99/lb and buy 5lbs get a free beer. I love crawfish and have had the real one in New Orleans and some delicious Viet-Cajun style ones in Houston so I was a bit hesitant to try since I didn't see any reviews about the crawfish here. I finally decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint at all. Crawfish is big, fresh, juicy, and very flavorful without being over seasoned! They cook it in Cajun style and toss it in some light garlic butter. There're 3 spice level: not spicy at all, medium, and extra spicy. I got medium and it was perfect! It had the right amount of heat which made my lips numb a little (in a good way) and I was still able to enjoy it. I also love that it wasn't super saucy like many places, it just had the right amount. We ordered 3lbs to try, then had to order 3 more. Each tray came with 2 pieces of sausages, 1 corn, and some baby potatoes. If you want more of these, you can order more at additional charges. I'll be returning for more! Today was our first trip to The Pho for lunch and my friend and I both tried their Ox Tail Pho. It was delicious but the meat could have been more tender. We found ourselves having to use forks and knives to cut the meat out. My only other minor issue is the construction happening all around. But that's not their fault, of course, as this is a brand new community. They have a huge selection of Vietnamese dishes as well as Thai. I also want to come back to sample their Banh Mi sandwiches.
