Not to be cheesy, but this place is "pho"nomenal!!! Yes, one of the best tasting Vietnamese places I've tried locally. I tried the pho with beef, vietnamese pastrami sandwich, and summer rolls and downed it with some Thai ice tea. The tea was great, I think they mixed in the tapioca balls with mint leaves and green grass jelly. The soup base of the pho was excellent, didn't taste any msg. If they used any, I couldn't taste it. The sandwich wasn't huge but it was very flavorful and can't beat the price ($3.50). The rolls had a lot of lettuce which was great, but wish they added cilantro and basil leaves too. But next time I go, I want to try the bahn cuon, I heard good things about it. I only had one complaint and that I was sweating like a pig (do pigs sweat?) from eating all the chili peppers and chili paste. But that's my own fault! read more

The space here looks super shady and isn't the cleanest; my cousin found a dead fly in his lemonade tea...he told a waitress about it and she said they would check it out. We assumed that meant he'd get a replacement drink...instead, he found a dead fly in it once again...either this place packs their lemonade tea with extra protein every time orr...they just didn't bother to do anything about it. I ordered a lemonade tea as well and it was super super sweet which I didn't like. My mother and aunt bought their own water bottles from home and we were mistakenly charged for them, which was fine since they took it off our bill after we addressed it. The banh Cuon dac biet wasn't at all special in any way, even though dac biet means special. The rolls were super thick and didn't taste fresh and also, the cha hue was really miniscule. read more

I had also tried their spring rolls but they were a bit burnt. Service was quick and staff is very nice. You also need to cautious, only street parking in the area. There's very few Vietnamese restaurants in CT but I must admit this is by far the best Vietnamese Restaurant around, I don't need to drive to NY anymore now I know there's 1 better than NY Vietnamese restaurants, clean and very healthy for their customers. I walk in feeling very welcome. Employees are very flexible; My vegetarian friend wanted Pho soup with no meat and I requested shrimp on my Pho soup, everything was absolute well prepared! As a chef for over 18 yrs; I notice how my Pho broth was so fresh. I didn't taste any Monosodium glutamate! 2 thumbs up for PHO HONG THOM! This must be the only Vietnamese restaurant I've ever devour an entire Pho soup's broth in my life. I know it's safe for me, my family, and friends. I will most likely recommend this restaurant. Excellent service! I often order a real hass avocado smoothie here, there's no other place I can think of to have my hands on 1! Wow, this location is terrible. The place is situated in one of the most dangerous inner-city sections of Bridgeport and looks downright unclean. There are over 5 security cameras in the place. The place is small and designed like a simple mix of take-out and sit down convenience. All bowls are handwashed by an older lady, so I assume the same fate befalls the utensils. The food is average for a pho place, but the quantity is reasonable. The soup tastes of a lot of MSG and salt, and I experienced a headache afterwards. Self-serve complimentary tea is available from a dispenser with the available styrofoam cups. I did not find bubble (boba) tea on the menu, but only drinks offering jelly. Not for families!! More for the budget-conscious and very adventurous. Anyway, if you can get past the appearances, safety, hygiene, and can't find a better place to grab pho/Vietnamese, then you can try this place out. Good luck. Food was well priced with good portions and tasted fairly good - until I came down with the worst case of food poisoning that I've ever had in my life. I'm 100% positive it was from this place, as I had eaten nothing else out of my ordinary diet for weeks (yogurt, vegetables, fruit, chicken), I ate lunch here and by 3am that night I was stuck in my bathroom. I had ordered the seafood pho and it came out suspiciously fast, within about five minutes tops, and I should have known better at that point. It had probably been sitting around for a while and then reheated - seafood is a sensitive meat that can easily go bad. I'm still stuck on a diet of saltines and water and it's been over three days. It's really too bad, because the flavor and everything else really was on point, but I can't say I'll ever go back here or that I would recommend to others - Not worth the risk, I don't want you to go through what I'm experiencing. read more

I've eaten in some hole in the walls before and this place gives any place I've been to a run for the money as a dive. Bathroom is in the kitchen next to where they prepare food and you need to wash your hands in the same sink they wash and prepare meals. It's basically a converted first floor of a home but appearances can be deceiving. This place doesn't have the menu that the Viet places in NYC have but what they did have was surprisingly decent. Total of about 11 items on the menu and they told us on a Sunday that they had sold out of their best seller, the beef ball pho. Apparently the pot was sold out....but seriously, maybe you should make more than one. So here's the good: Grilled pork was really tender and fragrant, bun bo hue was also decent but could have been spicier. Summer rolls were really fresh and got a thumbs up all around. Spring rolls were really good. Here's the not so good: Seafood noodle soup used yellow noodles. Would have been better if they used pho. They advertise smoothies and a large selection but the "smoothie guy" didn't come in to work on Sunday. WTH??? I didn't know you had just one dude making smoothies. Not a bad experience but probably better suited for the more adventurous. I wouldn't bring my first date here but I'll come here by myself to chow down. read more

The food was pretty tasty at this Hole in The Wall, not too far off Fairfield Ave in Bridgeport. We got a couple sandwiches and spring rolls to go. The bread could have easily been of a high quality. And more of a let down was the portion, which was rather small. The contents of the sandwich were tasty and the spring rolls petty good too. One strange occurrence during our visit, was being given the wrong amount of change back. When this was pointed out, they took a dollar out of my hand (they in fact had short-changed me). Finally, we got that straightened out back, but it was weird. All in all, the staff was nice despite that snafu. This place is AMAZING! Authentic meals made by even better people. I ordered the #1 Pho Special and it arrived at my table fast, piping hot, and with a side of cold veggies and sprouts. The chili paste is outstanding but be careful- it's hotter than the store made chili paste you'd find at a grocery. Additionally, the portions were huge for such a "cheap eat". My favorite pho spot in Bridgeport. Family owned and run, makes it authentic. I ordered take out but even for takeout it was great, still fresh and hot when I picked it up all the way to my house. We orders the shrimp summer rolls and they were delicious and you def taste that they were made to order instead of the fridge kind you find at Whole Foods ( no offense). This place is just heaven! I came here and had the pho with chicken. Their broth is so full of goodness, I'm going back often. The chili sauce on the table is the bomb, too! Don't let the location or the simplicity of the place fool you, the pho is 10/10. I could eat this once a week easily haha. My wife and I have been to many places all over CT to try the pho and this is the baseline we compare to and have yet to have better. I like the menu, smoothies, catering service, mostly the customer service! There Pho is the best I've tried. After finishing up everything inside the huge bowl. I asked for a container for the Pho's broth to take home, the service was great, they asked politely for the bowl, bring it back to the kitchen, returned with my Pho's broth ready to be enjoyed with rice when I get home. I didn't have to do it myself. Awesome! All my friends know I only come to Pho Hong Thom for their excellence of high quality fresh dishes. There's a huge screen TV customers can watch, or connect to Free Wi Fi while their meals are being prepared. I can't do that with the other restaurants nearby. They are often really busy during the weekends hence they have their own catering service which I've ordered 100 Crunchy Spring Rolls for a family reunion. Relatives at the table enjoyed them at the last bite. I will try out their Summer rolls next! They make them fresh for you! Also if your a vegetarian, they'd make you a "Summer Vegan roll". We also ordered coffee and tea and you can tell both were imported from Vientnam. This place is legit. I would rank it as the best out of the 3 Pho restaurants in that area (I've been to the other 2 places dozens of time). This place is family owned and operated, the owners were friendly and attentive.
