Pho is a beef broth Vietnamese noodle soup with meats and greens that will help cure any hangover or a cold day! This location is right around the corner from my house and it's delicious! As you walk through the doors...it's a brown decor! Pho restaurants are always casual...as soon as you walk in, you can choose to sit wherever you please. In the back of the restaurant is the counter where you can order to go or pickup and they have a small display of desserts. A little hallway on the left back will take you to the restroom and going straight back is the kitchen. As soon as you sit down, they give you water and ask what you like to order. It's not a big menu and people usually walk in and order pho. They have other great dishes such as...banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) other soups and rice dishes. You really can't go wrong with their pho! I typically order the small #1...it comes with everything and I add meatballs. My other favorite dish is the hu tieu! It's a pork and seafood Vietnamese noodle soup. It is so refreshing and also will make you feel good. Closest pho place to my sister's apartment! I ordered the bo kho which I thoroughly enjoyed! It had the right amount of noodles and beef. My sister got the meatball pho because she has the palette of a 10 year old lol Broth was quite herby but more so in a flower-y way. Didn't seem like it took several hours to cook. I guess you could say like a packeted broth. It wasn't terrible! She ordered a large and it had plenty of noodles and meatballs. She also ordered a Thai tea and I already knew it wasn't going to be like how the Thai do it. But it did the job :) Spent $46, tip included on 2 bowls and 2 drinks. This restaurant has probably the most authentic Vietnamese flavor to their menu items, compared to others in the Rockville/Gaithersburg/Germantown area. Portions are better than most local places, including the garnishes that come with the noodle soup entrees (extra points!). Their Banh Mi and entrees are excellent. While tasty already, the Bun Bo Hue should offer to add the pork hock/knuckle and pork blood for the authentic experiene. To that point, the rice dishes should provide the option for 'com tam' (broken rice). The desserts are great -- wish they could add Che Ba Mau. They also package the to-go items very well. Overall, great menu of items and great flavor and portion make me wish for more items to be added. read more

Located in the shopping center next to the Lotte Supermarket and Zips Dry Cleaning. The restaurant has plenty of tables to accommodate about 25-30 seats. We ordered their Pho (#1). Price was reasonable. It was $7.95 for small and $8.95 for a large. The broth had a lot of herbal taste to it. Also, I felt like it was seasoned with tons of black pepper. Nothing wrong with that, however its something that caught my attention. Also, the plate of bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeno, and basil were very fresh. We also ordered the lemongrass grilled bahi mi sandwich. It was about $5 p/ sandwich. The bread was nice and crispy and the pork was good. They do have a deal where if you buy 4-5 sandwiches, you get 1 free. Customer service was average. The staff here were friendly, however I wished they would be more attentive to check on their customers. Overall, the food is decent here. It is worth giving it a try. Just discovered this place a month ago and have been going once a week for a large white meat chicken pho and garden rolls but today they not only lost my order gave me the smaller size (paid for a large). I always have to start reviews with a caveat that I'm picky about my Vietnamese and Thai food. I spent 6 months in the countries and lived in the OC near Little Vietnam. Most VN restaurants aren't geared towards those who want the real deal. This is why I'm so excited to find Pho House. Its truly a hidden gem. I've had several things: bun bo hue, pho tai gan, grilled pork chop with rice, crispy rolls, cafe sua daand banh mi. Only the crispy rolls were a miss. The wrapper waa too thick, greasy and chewy rather than the paper like crispy I like. The lettuce it came with got all wilted. I wrap my rolls in the lettuce with a bit of pickled carrot and daikon so it matters to me. The pho broth is amazing. Bun bo hue was good but would have been better with shredded banana leaf. The pork Banh Mi was out of this world. Crunchy light bread, lots of pickled veg, cucumber and cilantro. The iced coffee was a perfect match. Not too sweet and so much depth! I will be getting banh mi and iced coffee on regular rotation. I felt like I was transported to the streets of Saigon. read more

Ever since we came to the area we've been lacking a solid pho place. This was our first try, and it wasn't a bad one. We ordered steak pho and pork spring rolls to go. The spring rolls didn't ravel well, but tasted nice. The pho remained remarkably piping hot and tasty! The broth was worth sipping. This place deserves credit/praise for being the only Vietnamese pho place in the upper montgomery county area that serves other noodle dishes besides pho. Some other locations have rice dishes with grilled meats, but Pho house serves bun bo hue, bun rieu, hu tieu and bo kho (beef stew) as well as Vietnamese sandwiches. Critiquing the pho - the meat is tender and tasty, noodles are good and veggies were fresh. The broth was mediocre, not as aromatic in my opinion. Critiquing the bun rieu - all aspects were honestly medicore; however it should be noted that this noodle soup is more challenging and definitely less well-known, so to even have it is praiseworthy. Critiquing the bun bo hue - very delicious spicy broth; meat, noodles and veggies were fine too. I would gladly comeback for more of this noodle soup. They have wide selection of traditional Vietnamese beverages. Ambience is modern decor but it shows signs of age. Service is average score; it is mixed Latino and Vietnamese staff. read more

Wow I wanted something other than soup today so I tried the steak skewers and they were great. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. The good thing about this Pho place is that they serve a lot of other Vietnamese dishes aside from Pho. They got pretty good Banh Mi; the baguette's really nicely made. Their stew noodle soup's not bad either, but it can be quite greasy. Their Bun Bo Hue isn't all that; I wouldn't get it again. Lemongrass Beef ($12) - The beef's quite delicious. However, the portion is quite small; I was still hungry after. Conclusion - A pretty decent Pho joint. I feel like this place's overpriced. Portion wise, they really need to step it up. #11 reminded me of a 1982 hit by the Gap Band "you dropped a bomb me". My dinner was PHOnomenal! The explosions of flavors couldn't have been better. This is definitely one of the better Pho spots around Montgomery County. The decor is nice and clean. Everyone is super friendly. There are a bunch of additional menu items. One of our favorite Pho restaurants in the Rockville-Gaithersburg-Germantown area. Fresh ingredients, flavorful broth, generous portions. We normally order Pho along with some rolls, and occasionally the lemongrass beef. Not sure how their other platters and sandwiches are, but for years, this has been our go-to Pho restaurant. Like most noodle dishes, I recommend eating at the restaurant instead of take-out. If you do get take-out Pho, I recommend reheating the broth to a near boiling temperature before putting everything in so they simmer slightly in the hot broth as they would in the restaurant, and also allows the dry noodles to properly untangle. read more

Pho House has an optimal location right next to the Lotte Market. It is impossible to shop at Lotte without turning one's eyes toward the marquee at Pho House. What is inside? Their grilled pork, served with rice vermicelli, is genuinely aromatic, smoky, and tenderly moist. This is one dish that I frequently order at Vietnamese restaurants and that often fails to impress. Usually, it is because the grilled flavor is missing or weak or because the pork has been grilled well in advance. Take note of the grilled pork. However, there are some less than stellar moments. First, their fried spring rolls--a staple at pho restaurants--is made with a thicker than normal wrapper. When it is fried up, it is crispy; but, it is not lightly crispy. The spring rolls do not have the characteristic gossamer skin that ultimately defines a Vietnamese spring roll. Instead, because of the kind of spring roll wrapper that they use, the wrapper itself has a rather uncommon interplay with the hot oil that it is cooked in. The hot oil "bubbles" the spring roll wrapper and creates broken air pockets all along the skin so that the result is a crispy yet coarse and lumpy product. Furthermore, the banh mi, the Vietnamese hoagie, is made with the wrong kind of bread. Instead of using a French baguette roll (the kind that is crusty on the outside and airy on the inside), they use some sort of American hoagie roll that does not do the sandwich justice. The banh mi is not all about the bread, obviously; but, the bread plays a major role. Here, the banh mi suffers because of the bread. The namesake pho itself is average. The broth is not very vocal. It is "shy" and kind of half-hearted. When eating it, I wonder where the cardamom is or the cassia bark--or, the star anise. It is not a bad pho--just not particularly noteworthy. Here, I would say that the bun bo hue, the spicy beef noodle soup, is better than the pho. It offers a good kick, tender pieces of beef, and a broth with more personality than the pho. There may not be a better bun bo hue amongst Pho House's immediate competitors; but, it would probably not be able to compete against the bun bo hues at Eden Center or other establishments in Northern Virginia. Overall, Pho House is one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I'm sure. Coupled with a trip to Lotte next door, visiting Pho House could be a worthwhile excursion. read more

#15 Large raw meat is the way to go. Trust me on this. You will love it. The meat will literally cook in the already amazing broth. Pho house is not the hole in the wall, nonexistent customer service establishment I'm used to. They are clean, the seats are super comfy and the service; exceptional(especially for a Pho restaurant) On an off day, I've tried their Banh Mi and its quiet fantastic and so are their grilled pork on noodles. I've tried every one of their boba shakes and they are all equally good. The avocado was a real surprise for me; I actually liked it a lot. All ingredients are real and fresh(not the powdered crap!) We visited Pho House the first time several months ago, maybe around Sep 2022 (can't remember exactly when). We liked the food there. It was authentic and the restaurant was packed. We visited again for lunch before dropping our daughter off at her tennis class. We got there noon-ish. The restaurant was almost empty and the waitresses were different from last time. It used to have mostly Vietnamese waitresses. It felt like a completely different restaurant. After we ate our Pho and several other dishes, we were very certain that this restaurant has a different owner. It doesn't taste authentic anymore. All dishes we ordered were different from our last visit. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee again as it was so impressive when I last ordered. They didn't even have it (the waitress didn't tell us but the coffee never came). Sad to see this happens as this restaurant used to be authentic and reliable. read more

They were decent if you're itching for pho and happens to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.
