One of the biggest vietnamese/pho restaurants I've been too!.. Plenty of tables. Service is quick and there's always someone in the dining area filling drinks and walking around. I had my kids with me, and without even asking, they bring me scissors in a cup of hot water. (Useful, trust me)... Their pho serving is Huge (even the regular size). I always get pho ga (chicken) and it's all white meat. Husband gets rare steak and he asks for chili oil for some extra heat. Their egg rolls are tasty. And their Bahn mi are also pretty good. The French baguette it's served in is lightly toasted with a slight crunch, but still super soft and easy to bite. Prices are good! So this is the first time I have seen a Pho place this far south of San Diego. The service is fantastic, not once did I have to ask for more water just in case I made my soup too spicy (mind you I love spicy stuff). I am thirsty on this particular day and the staff never let my water get below halfway. Yes I counted how many times they refilled my water. You are immediately greeted on your way in and the place is spacious. I can see the kitchen area and it looked clean so I know the food will be delicious even before I sat down. We ordered the following: #15 which is the filet mignon pho; #44 Bi Cha Thit (BBQ pork, shrimp, and some meat loaf combo); #32 rare steak pho; Thai boba tea; and Vietnamese coffee. My wife enjoyed her order of Bi Cha Thit. The Filet Mignon Pho was a first for me and I was not disappointed. Service is great, they attend you quite fast and the workers are nice as well. It seems like a family owned restaurant and have got some good music as well as a fish tank. It's a beautiful place to eat at once inside. Only reason I give this four stars is because I would say its slightly overpriced. read more

Pros : the place itself is spacious, well lit and clean Cons: the food itself I ordered the bi cuon spring rolls which were double wrapped making them extra chewy the insides were gooey and the bean sprouts didn't look fresh. Decent pho spot. I ordered the special combo pho (comes with rare slices of steak, well-done brisket, flank, tendon, and tripe) and a iced thai tea on the side. The thai tea was very refreshing, and the staff was very accommodating of me and left the boba out per my request which was appreciated. For the pho, the broth was savory, but a tad salty by my tastes. Portions were generous, but if I had to nit pick, the bowl seemed fairly dominated by the noodles. I wish there was a tad more meat to balance it out. Overall though my bowl of pho very enjoyable. The restaurant is deceptively huge. There's plenty of seating in the inside, but parking on the outside is fairly limited. Service was fast and efficient. I got my water almost instantly, and my pho came very shortly after I ordered. Especially for for the price point (tons of value for what you pay), Pho Hung Cali is worth a try if you're in the area. read more

Food is what you pay for. Service when dining in isn't the best, no one really pays attention to you unless you call them down for help and even then some waiters will ignore you. Placed an order over the phone for pickup, the guy who helped me over the phone didn't ask for a name and when i told him he said "who cares." Honestly go to this place because it's the cheapest for good pho but do not come here if you're looking for good customer service, probably best to order online or pickup. read more

Came here for the first time today, and ordered takeout for lunch. I ordered the vermicelli bun with bbq pork and egg rolls, which was less than $10 (not including tip). The food is soooo good, and the serving size is amazing! I took a picture after getting full, which you can see there's still a lot left. The restaurant is clean and bright, and servers seemed pretty friendly. I was impressed with how they boxed up our takeout order, they gave us a nice large box and everything was very secure! They have good veggie offerings for the vegetarians out there, even veggie egg rolls. This is near a friend's house, so good chance I'll be eating here again if visiting my friend. *Update 6/17/18 Just got their Banh Mi Bo Kho, not impressed with that. Flavor was okay but the cuts of meat were really fatty and some were tough. Bo Kho in my opinion should be really tender, almost fall apart in your mouth. We have been coming to this restaurant for years. It was our favorite go to spot. The last time, a few months ago we noticed a decline in food quality and service. Today we tried again and this will be unfortunately our last. Upon entering we stood there and waited forever while several young girl employees chatted and ate right when you enter. Their table was full of trash, food, drinks and who knows what else. They should have an employee social spot somewhere else. There are tons of boxes and supplies sitting at the front wall that have been there since our last visit. The servers walked around in gym clothes and acted extremely unprofessional. The food was not the same quality. The sauces on the table were filthy with food all over it. My chicken pho had what appeared to be dried on food from the dishwasher. Chicken pho does not have dried red peppers in it. Not chilis. Or beef pho the meat was slimy and the noodles all little pieces. We barely ate. My favorite Pho place in Chula Vista. I have went to other places where the broth is flavorless but here it is full of flavor I typically get the shrimp pho or the vermicelli plate with shrimp and egg roll. Their shrimp is SO good and the egg rolls are perfect. I really like their peanut sauce too which was not just watered down peanut butter like some places. We've been going to Pho Hung Cali for many years now at this location. We were pleased before with their fast service. Unfortunately these past 4 months have made their service so bad. We came in and none of the staff greeted us. They sat us at weird areas when there's open booths. Their reason was to keep "social distancing" which doesn't make sense since a lot of the restaurants do not have this anymore. It was SOOO HOT inside the restaurant they only have a few fans on. If they really want to keep everyone safe, they should turn on the AC and/or open the doors wide open. The prices went up especially for a 6pcs egg rolls for $9!!! That is too pricey for some egg rolls and they make them thinner now. It's not worth it. Oh, they only had 1 guy for the whole restaurant taking orders. I asked for a refill of water it took him so long to get it. My husband asked him also if the meat was filet mignon because it looked like the BBQ beef vermicelli I order, and he got very defensive and answered us rudely. I feel the owners are getting more GREEDY that they overwork their staff and skimp on essentials like turning on AC to save on bills. Can you imagine 1 waiter for the WHOLE RESTAURANT?! They are not as friendly as before either. I wish they kept their old staff but I can understand why they left because the owners do not treat their employees right. We saw their old staff member at another Vietnamese restaurant and that's what he told us. Food is still decent, but the service sucks for the past 4mos! The bathrooms are dirty and the floors too. They have "storage" for their supplies right in front of the register. They don't have the decency to put a wall or cover it up. It's looking really bad as the days go on. It used to be our favorite place, but now after going there twice a month with bad service, we will take our business somewhere else. Hopefully the owners would see this and bring back how Pho Hung Cali used to be. read more
