Don't try to get take-out at this place. My hubby and I came in about 25 minutes before their closing time and they blatantly did NOT want to serve us. The waiter was trying to convince us to leave. We insisted on getting food, because we were so hungry, so we got some take-out. (Note: We went here before 30 minutes before closing time in the past, and they still snubbed us. So if you're a late eater, don't expect to get served.) I ordered a small and my hubby ordered a large pho. When we got home, the broth wasn't even enough to cover BOTH our meals! It was enough for one large meal. The pho was "meh". This was our first time ordering take-out pho from them, and we were highly disappointed. Normally they serve pretty good broth here, but I guess take-out is a different story. I've ordered take-out pho from other places, and there was never any problem about broth portions. Speedy service! I walking for lunch on Sunday and the waiter was ready for my order before I knew what I wanted! After ordering, my food was brought out quickly. I ordered the vermicelli with beef. The meat was flavorful and cucumber crispy. The egg rolls were hot and crispy. I went back the next day for a sandwich to go! It was delicious as well! Just walk in, sit down & someone will approach you with a menu and drink orders. They keep it clean and always straight forward about what you want, in case you want to switch it up. This is my go to pho place in the Spring Branch area. It's clean, service is quick, food is good, and prices are affordable. Of course nothing beats my mom's homemade pho, but the pho here is consistently solid. The broth has good flavor and spices, noodles are soft and chewy, and the bean sprouts, basil, and cilantro are always fresh. The large bowl of pho here is smaller compared to other pho places. The noodles and rice dishes here are also quite tasty. The BBQ meats are charbroiled so you can actually smell the charcoal when eating a piece of meat. There are different combinations/varieties of vermicelli bowls and rice dishes at Pho Huy and they will be more than happy customizing an order if it's not on the menu. I recommend adding a sunny side up egg for an extra $1. They also serve che (Vietnamese dessert) and Vietnamese coffee if you have a sweet tooth or need an extra boost of caffeine to continue your day. read more

As of this moment (well, really as of 3 months ago when I first found this place), this is my favorite pho place in Houston. The prices are good, the servers are attentive, the portions are perfect, and most importantly, the food is phenomenal. I love getting the dac biet pho combination, and at most other pho places I've visited, the proportions for the various meat things are always off. You know, only one piece of eye round steak with half a pound of tripe, etc. But not this place! They get the combination RIGHT. Big thumbs up for that. And another big plus is that the broth is flavorful without being overwhelmingly pungent. I've also had the bun here, which is satisfying, but if you're interested in getting a non-pho item, I'd recommend the rice dishes -- particularly the charbroiled pork/chicken ones. The shrimp ones are kind of lacking in that you only get 4 shrimp (seriously?), but the others are perfection. Finally, one other reason why I frequent this place -- the iced coffee. I could drink that stuff all day long. I mean, I'd probably get incredibly sick afterwards (caffeine and dairy overload, anyone?), but IT'D BE SO WORTH IT. read more

Ordered food here through a 3rd party app. I ordered 2 phos, spring rolls and a cafe sua da. I asked for fish sauce for my rolls instead of peanut sauce but it still came with peanut sauce. The vegetable bag only came with 1 lime when I asked for extra. There was also a long strand of black hair in the vegetable bag. I doubt these people wear gloves or hair nets. Don't waste your time going here! This is long sorry. Wanted to try Pho in this area. Customer service was bad and rude except for one server. Skinny Asian with glasses. She was the only server that wasn't rude to me. An older short Asian and a young blonde Asian, were rude for no reason!! I had a long black hair, (my hair isn't long or black), in my Pho, got up and told the older woman at the register if a server can come to the table. The kind server came, apologized, and offered me a new one of course. I was a server too so I'm not gonna be a Karen about it even though I lost my appetite. So I had to get a new plate of the garnishes for the soup as well. It only had one lime so I got up again to go ask the older woman for limes, and she literally screamed "NO" in my face and said she's going to charge me. I had a whole new soup BECAUSE IT HAD HAIR TANGLED IN THE FOOD IN THE OLD ONE and she wanted to charge me LOL. When she screamed at me I was really shocked. As a past server I would never scream and be rude to a customer no matter what. So I asked the kind server to give me another lime. Blonde server slapping the receipt and pen, giving me attitude, rolling her eyes, and making faces. Also had to get up for napkins and get it from another table. No one checked on us, not even once. I understand if you get stressed out but they weren't even busy. Honestly I could've handled all the tables myself and it was about three of them there. It's not even a big restaurant. I don't leave reviews this is actually my first one, but this was a disappointment. First and last time. Food taste, 8/10. Pho sizes are kind of small. If you want to try a better place try Pho and Crab on 11660 Westheimer Rd. Way bigger portions. The small here is the large over there. Love their Pho, even my kids love it. We always get some for them when they aren't feeling well and wont eat traditional chicken soup. We probably eat here 2-4 times a month. Found two bugs. One in my Pho (Number 12) and one in my friend's pho (Number 15). Got new soup but we will see if there is another bug or not soon. Interior restroom area has no A/C. This place started off well but after a good run, its starting to lose quality in service and food. The lady didn't even believe I found a bug at first and was quite rude. Place is nicely designed, very clean, a bit loud don't expect a quiet meal. Even though this is a pho restaurant I went and order a rice plate. I asked if they could do a 50/50 grilled chicken grilled pork plate (not on menu), they kindly obliged and took my request. I was very hungry tonight and also ordered an order of spring rolls, a grilled beef banh mi and to top it off an avocado smoothie. So the review: the rice plate was very good - the chicken and pork was great, the springs rolls - well you can't really mess up spring rolls, the grilled beef banh mi was to my surprise excellent - the bread was so soft it melted as you bit into it (imagine the scene in ratatouille when he crunches the French bread and his ears curl up bc of the crispy sound), the avocado smoothie - very good as well, they don't offer tapioca as an option but I don't like tapioca anyways. OMG is all I have to say, the food here is great, the service is help full and accommodating but there English isn't the best. The price is so affordable, and it's also very healthy, I highly recommend the steam rice plates and noodles. The lunch crowd also seems to be very trendy and new age, a varied mix of Asians, Caucasians and some Hispanics. Seems like a good place for a first date since it's not too loud or too intimate. I use to like this place. Dining in is ok, but don't order to go. Found out they charge for to go containers. But they won't give you everything that comes with it cause it will cause more. Just pho k place is super busy and the serving system is just strange to me. The staff wasn't rude but also didn't go out of their way to be friendly. This is a small family owned restaurant. If your coming for lunch be ready for a small wait because a lot of professionals from the near by businesses come and have lunch here. The food is good and it comes out fast most of the time. Best pho place around in my opinion. Only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because of the service at times. I usually get the 72 which is rice with beef and it even comes with a small bowl of soup. Overall this place is tasty, affordable, fast and somewhere to frequently visit for your pho needs. This place is AMAZING! I'm not a big fan of pho but this place has the best pho in Houston. Once you enter the people that work there immediately greet you and take you to your table. One thing that sucks about this place is that the tables are like all put together so sometimes you're eating right next to strangers but that doesn't stop me from giving them 5 stars! I usually get the 21 small and it's always on point they bring you a plate with bean sprouts, mint, and other leaves to put into your pho! Don't hesitate to put all of it in your pho because it intensifies the flavor or it! Add lime to it and siracha and that other sauce that they have there and BOOM you have the best thing to cure a hangover! The two times I've eaten here it almost felt like a problem each time with me asking for an extra sauce to go. This time he gave me what I thought was an extra sauce, was actually soy sauce. So not only are my lips burning a little but my soup is salty. Why wouldn't he just give me two of the same sauces that are put in a to go bag? This place is usually my go to spot for pho since its right around the corner from where I live. But I've been noticing that they have been getting a whole lot skimpier on the complimentary items. Maybe it's a carry out issue but it shouldn't be one. No limes, light on the sprouts...... So now I just head up the street to Pho Saigon. If you dine in you probably won't experience these issues. There are three pho restaurants in this part of town, but Pho Huy is my favorite. Pho Saigan is good, but their vegetables are not always as fresh as they should be, and Pho Chin has had some consistency problems with their broth the last few times I visited. While there are, truth be told, two are three other places around town I'd rather eat pho (Pho Binh is probably my favorite), Pho Huy compares favorably to all of them, and it has the great virtue of being within ten minutes of my house. The pho bò is consistently well above average, and the other items on the menu (the few times I haven't ordered either pho or a vermicelli bowl) are also acceptable, though I'm not sure why one would stray away from their specialty (just like I wouldn't order pho in a standard Vietnamese restaurant). Grilled meats have a good smoky flavor (I'm really fond of the grilled pork vermicelli bowl), spring rolls are fresh, and the Vietnamese egg rolls are also recommended. Service is standard for an Asian restaurant catering primarily to other Asians (utilitarian at best), but they are very efficient, even during the lunch rush. Cleanliness is not an issue here; even the restrooms are spotless. read more
