Ordered a chicken banh mi and a pork vermicelli bowl to go during #covid19. Not super stoked that I had to touch the door and go inside to pickup. The order took 10min to prepare. The flavours in the banh mi were great, good rating of pickled veg to chicken. The bun was fresh. The vermicelli was very impressive, packed well. The pork was well marinated and flavourful. I will preface this review by saying I've only had their vegetarian and seafood dishes, so I can't speak to the quality of the meat. That being said, I love this place for a warm bowl of pho or noodles. Just pure comfort food. Quality is consistently good, and the portion sizes are large (the small sizes are very filling to me) and fairly priced. They give you lots of protein and vegetables in relation to the noodles, and a good assortment of vegetables. Everything seems fresh, in particular the Shrimp Salad Rolls are so good for this reason, just the quality ingredients is enough to make these fantastic without dredging them in sauce (although they do come with dipping sauce which is of course a nice finishing touch). Yes, there is oil in the soup broth, but I honestly don't find it to be too oily, and I'm usually sensitive to oil. The complimentary tea is very nice too, and their special drinks are definitely worth a try. The service is fine. They take your order at your table but you go to the counter when you're ready to pay, and the staff will pretty much leave you alone after they bring your food out unless you make an effort to get their attention. They're really polite though, and it's not hard to get them to come to your table if you need something. read more

Came here for a quick dinner and I was impressed with the service as they were friendly and speedy. I ordered a specialty dish called "bun bo Hue," (a type of noodles originating from northern Vietnam), spring rolls, and a durian smoothie. The durian smoothie was somewhat diluted - although the durian flavour and scent were there, it wasn't enough to make me think I'm drinking a durian smoothie. And it was diluted compares to the other vIet places. The spring rolls were a bit dry for my liking and the shell was a bit tough. I was excited to eat bun bo Hue as it's one of my favourite noodle dishes. It came out pipping hot, and again, the specific bun bo Hue taste fell short. I have a mild tolerance but it wasn't spicy for me. I didn't think it was special and found it to be too oily. * This is the review for their Hu Tiu* Best hu tiu Nam Vang I have had so far, outside of Vietnam. It's very authentic and delicious. They even have proper herbs/veggies to go with the dish. Do my weekly grocery shopping in this area every week and finally decided to try out this spot after passing by it on my way to Persian foods from the 99 stop. Honestly the outside never made it look too appealing but I had tried the other stuff in the area, and needed to give this a chance. The service wasn't amazing but I was surprised by the quality of the dish. I ordered the House Special Noodle Soup ($13.25) which came with a couple cuts of beef brisket and other various meats in a broth with green onion and vermicelli noodles. It also came with a side of mint, bean sprouts, and very slightly hot pepper. Although it wasn't much in terms of presentation or taste, for the price I was paying it was a pretty good deal for the amount I got. I don't really have many complaints aside from a pretty basic noodle soup dish. I would come here as a safe pick in the area as I've had bad experiences with the Indian place across the street. Although I wouldn't seek this place out, it's a light 4 in my heart. Would be willing to come back to try something else on the menu again. read more

Was craving Vietnamese food so badly so my friend and I decided to get Doordash from here. I ordered the rice platter with lemongrass chicken and spring rolls. It came with shredded iceberg lettuce which I really liked, it was chopped nice and thin and had a nice crunch. It also came with cucumbers, pickled carrots, and fish sauce. They used regular rice instead of broken rice which was fine, still tasted good. The piece of chicken was pretty big too and tasted flavourful. It came with 2 spring rolls cut into 4 pieces and was so good and filling, it wasnt over fried or dripping in oil either and the seasonings were really good. Overall, for $13 it was really good and filling but I'm only giving it 4/5 due to it being good but nothing too crazy and special. read more

Veggie ingredients had a slight hint of acidity. Overall average tasting rolls with a good balance of flavours. The peanut sauce needs work as it lacks depth and peanut flavour. It was some average tasting Vietnamese food. I ordered the #75 and it was alright. I prefer the deep fried spring rolls in the traditional rice wrapper, but these ones were made in wheat wrappers. I would give this place a big miss. Front door is filthy with thousands of fingerprints. Disinterested server. Beer is expensive, not well chilled and, when we asked for glasses, they were 3 inches tall. Food... got the dipping sauce for our shrimp rolls first ( complete with whole peanuts sunk to the bottom) but the rolls came after we'd finished dinner and had to ask for the rolls twice. Great place for pho on a rainy day. I reached at 1pm for lunch and the place had a decent amount of traffic. Service was prompt and polite. I believe the waitresses are from Vietnam or neighbouring countries. The difference in price for small and large portions was just $1 so it's a no brainer that my Friend and I went for the large portions. It made us full but not bloated, just to help you gauge how filling the sizes are. I had pho with prawns, crab meat and squid. The seafood was fresh and tender. I'm really struggling with this review because there was so much potential. Overall I would give it a 2.5. Food - I ordered a basic pho tai. The both is absolutely flawless in my opinion, so delicious. The noodles were fresh and chewy, and the meat, although a very skimpy portion, was tender. This would be my ideal pho except for the huge problem of not providing the traditional garnishes. Whenever I order pho, I've always received bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños, lime, etc. on the side. I saw plates of this on people's tables in the restaurant, but I got takeout so I didn't realize this was missing from my order until I got home. Very disappointing. Service - This was another major problem. When I phoned in my order, the person picked up and said "Hi, what do you want?" The rude experience on the phone didn't phase me until I got there and realized they were going to be just as rude in person. A family with two young kids walked in just before me and had to wait almost 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge them. After they were seated, a server walking by me barked "5 minutes!" I politely told her I was picking up takeout and she just replied "oh". I had to copy the man behind me who pushed ahead and went to the back of the dining room to pick up his order. Would have been nice if they'd directed me to the right place for pickup, and generally just been more helpful and less rude, no matter how understaffed or stressed they were. I do see myself returning if I'm in the area, but I will keep my expectations for the service low and be very specific when ordering. read more

My go-to pho restaurants. The broth is the best in town and probably the best I've had. I always order #16 round steak, brisket, tendon, and tripe. I often order without noodles but they will give you carrot and broccoli to replace noodles (always perfectly cooked, never mushy). The service is good, The restaurant is clean and spacious. It gets busy around lunch and dinner time but there is always a table ready for you. The food comes quickly too, which is nice if you are rushing to work. If you order for delivery (through a service) make sure you ask for uncooked noodles on the side. Otherwise a bit too overcooked by the time it gets to your place. This review is Pho soup only. The place it self is a bit rough but it's a building that is likely going to be a high rise at some point so I can understand. But I don't come here because it's the latest, modern, trendy place. We come here for the soup. I order the spicy Pho, normally rare sirloin and beef balls, and my wife like the chicken one. I have closer places I can go, I live near Lonsdale, but the taste of their broth is great. I tried to make it myself one time and it was a disaster. Tasty pho! I got the large sized pho ($9.45 I believe) noodle soup with eye round steak and well done flank. Very fast service (came out within 10 min), although it was a bit odd they didn't serve us water until we asked after the food came out. I'm giving it a 4 because the service wasn't exceptional, however given how quick the food came out, pleasant taste, and how you can customize the bowl to your needs, I would recommend it. This gotta be the nicest pho place in town, but of course they've just taken over the interior from Tang's about a year ago. Lucky them. Not so much for us though, since you have to pay a slight premium for your pho here. Just to be fair, they do serve decent Vietnamese fare, not to mention they're pretty much your only choice in this part of Kits. But for some reason, I kinda miss the old Tang's. Yes, the original Tang's, way before all the renos and menu changes which ultimately contributed to its demise. read more
