Ok, I didn't expect much from this place but both the chicken and beef pho were pretty good! I was especially surprised by the chicken pho-- the meat was ok (just shredded white chicken meat) but the broth was so tasty. I ordered 2 separate times to-go and finished the entire thing, broth included! I have yet to try dining in here, but so far I am impressed. I picked up vegetarian pho from this place along with fresh spring rolls. My friends who tried this place earlier do like the place but for my order I felt the vegetarian pho broth seemed highly bland and unflavorful. It seemed like it was missing the spices in the broth, I couldn't taste any salt, star anise, or other seasonings. I would be a bit reserved in going back to this place. read more

After spending the entire day at the hospital, my stomach was growling and needed nourishment. I'm glad I saved room from the sad hospital food to enjoy some Viet cuisine from Pho LA. On the night of our visit, they had two small tables situated outside that were made available for dining. Their entire interior is currently unavailable so takeout is likely to be your best option. We ended up sitting at a table since we were the only customers dining. Although we had to go inside to get the staff's attention, it was still nice to "dine" inside a restaurant again after resorting to take out for the greater part of our year. I ordered their Beef Vermicelli Bowl w/ Egg Roll ($12) and it was delicious. The tender cuts of meat were nicely seasoned, grilled, and definitely plentiful. Vermicelli noodles were cooked well and fresh vegetables combined with fish sauce was great. I ended up taking home about 1/3 of my order since it was served in the same bowls they'd normally reserve for pho. I'm happy I decided to go with their dry noodle bowls which made leftovers a reality. Free parking is available in their shared plaza. read more

Great food for an affordable price. Their Banh Mi sandwiches are all great. Rice plates are also great choices for dinner. Pho #1 is a comfort food for colder nights in winter . Service is alright, they're family and asian owned which is a huge plus. Nice quaint shop near the Nob Hill with a place for an easy dinner. Ambiance is for a nice evening out. DEFINITELY cheaper than fast food and tastes miles better. Also serves boba which is alright if you're into that. Egg rolls are meh in my opinion, tastes like any other take out place. I do like this place a lot for good Viet food. There is ample parking as the place is in the corner next to Nob Hill grocery shopping center. Starbucks is also nearby. For us service has always been great whether we eat there or get food for pick up. The vegetarian tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce is amazing. We also usually order the Lemongrass tofu over white rice dish. The folks here always give us extra fortune cookies for our 3 year old Izzy. Good pho, not great. I ordered a mixed meat one with meatballs and beef for pickup. The portion was huge, as is typical, and the broth was nice and hot. There just wasn't a ton of flavor. The girls and I were on a lunch run and met up here. My friend got there beforehand and was seated at the front table. The tables were so close together it made it difficult to move around. The man sitting behind me had his chair pulled out all the way making it hard to sit comfortably. My friend had to move spots as the leaves in the divider between tables kept hitting her arms. Once I got settled I couldn't shake how this place had no vibe. It was very quiet and I had to initiate all conversation with the staff. We ordered the egg rolls and were served four egg rolls with a sauce. The egg rolls didn't have any flavor even with the sauce. I will pass on these next time. I ordered a #2 that has a selection of several cuts of beef. I really liked the meatballs because they don't have tendons inside them. (Not a fan of that in my meatballs). The meatballs tasted good and were a good consistency. I think I only had three meatballs in my pho which was disappointing. The other cuts of meat were okay but I will order just meatballs next time. The broth was really delicious. It was flavorful and hot. The noodles had a good consistency. Overall a solid bowl of pho. In the middle of my meal I got up to use their restroom which is past the double white doors. Single stalls for men and women. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. This place has decent Vietnamese food. There aren't Vietnamese food places in south side San Jose. I recommend getting the vermicelli bowls. The marinated meat is quite tasty. The egg rolls I had were fried for too long so they weren't that good. If you get a soup, it's better to stick with pho. With the weather, turning winter-ish, both of us thought that going out for Pho , especially because it's within walking distance at the house literally right around the corner, was a good idea. When we arrived shortly after noon, there weren't that many people there and so we could pick our own seat. There is a decent amount of space in between tables, and the isles are relatively wide, so that well someone may be coming up from behind. Certainly it's not such a big place that you can't grab your mask if you're so inclined. But the place is very clean, attractive, and the atmosphere is welcoming. We were given menus, and they gave us ample time to look over them, and make decisions . Pho La had only one employee wearing a mask; I stopped going to eat there when I realize that they were not wearing masks during the pandemic. My friend really wanted to go and so we went. That's the only reason why there are only four stars. I ordered seafood noodle soup, and she ordered wonton soup. Everything came out, hot, fresh, really delicious. Ample amounts of ingredients to mix in as well as sauces to add were provided. We had hot cups of tea and enjoyed our food. Immensely Their prices were very fair; the atmosphere was very comfortable, and the food was really great. they had a sign that apologize for the recent rise in prices; I did not think they were high at all. We went here on a whim late on a Sunday while waiting for a prescription to get filled. My mom thought it was the best pho ga she had ever had: Good chunks of white chicken, delicious, very clear broth, and all the fixings. Very pleasant experience here at Pho La, the service and quality of the food excellent and the warmth of the resturant along with the Pho broth is top tier. I came here in the area with my cousin after I picked him up after school. And the ambience was nice. The traditional pho resturant really stood out and If you're in the Santa Teresa area I highly recommend this spot. Prices vary but it is overall cheap. read more

Great pho place that's open 7 days a week from 10AM until 10PM. Tried this place not too far from me and happy to have found it. Broth was nice and the portion size was just enough without going completely overboard. I got the No. 1 - Special Combo - that had rare slice of steak, well done flank, brisket and tendon - it comes with tripe but I skipped it. My kid got the No. 12 - rare steak and well done brisket. He's a growing boy and loves his meat. The medium size is $8.45 and the large is a buck more. We will be back for sure. read more

WORSE VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT IN SAN JOSE! People of Santa Teresa; build up some courage, and drive over the tracks to the Dirty South and the East for some real Vietnamese cuisine! I should've known to stay on my side of town--from the name. I've been eating Bánh mì in San Jose since it was $1.50, and have tried just about every restaurant that makes them. Pho LA is mostly bread with tasteless fillings. The Bún thịt nướng is dry and tasteless; really tasteless. You can tell the meat is cheap as well as the produce, probably because the rent is higher by Santa Teresa--which is why you don't see many non ethnic minorities from the Santa Teresa area on Senter & Story i.e. THERE'S SO MUCH BETTER VIETNAMESE FOOD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS! Pho LA understands the cowardice of the residents of Santa Teresa and are taking advantage by serving them garbage! Any return customers of Pho LA must not know what they're missing. read more

Opens earlier than some of the places I was looking at. Arrived back from San Antonio, TX this past Saturday at 9:30AM. After my quick stop over at Costco, I knew it was time to eat. The kids have been up since 4AM and I have been up since 3:30AM CST time. I didn't buy anything to eat during my flight. The kids enjoyed the complimentary biscuits and juice on both flights to San Jose. Anyway. I searched and saw mixed reviews of this place but I never take any reviews into consideration except for Cherylynn's reviews because she is awesome and so is TT! Saw that they accept Visa/MC = score! I'm the type that go not carry cash. Menu is pretty standard like the other Vietnamese pho places. They have vermicelli bowls, rice, and pho. I am sure there was more but I wanted to hurry up and order so I can hurry up home. Tess ordered the pho bo vien w/o any hanh/ngo (onions and cilantro). I ordered their #2 which is essentially a pho dac biet w/ bo vien. Got a large so Gavin and I can share. Service was fast and friendly. I didn't try the broth w/o the Sriracha contamination but I can tell you that it was very good and comforting. I gave Gavin more than half of the noodles and some of the steak and all of the meatballs. Pro tip: if you are hungry, add noodles to your bowl but do not order a large. I have been experimenting and I can tell you that a large pho will only give you a large bowl and more broth. read more
