Another winter night calls for some warm pho. We have never been to this pho spot in this South Bay area. I wanted to try them out. We arrived on a Sunday night for dinner recently. The Vietnamese restaurant is located in a nice area in a small plaza off Santa Teresa and Cottle blvd in south San Jose. Parking is accessible in the large parking lot out front. Pho Teresa has traditional Vietnamese modern decor. The restaurant is quite spacious and bright with plenty of tables for dine in. The atmosphere is welcoming and family friendly. We ordered a beef stew with egg noodle, beef balls with rice noodle soup, and a grilled shrimp over vermicelli. Everything was authentic and delicious. My beef stew was flavorful and soothing warm. Unfortunately some of my beef pieces were too chewy and tough. My son enjoyed his beef balls soup and said it was very tasty. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pho Teresa Restaurant. The staff were nice and accommodating. Price point was fair. I thought I knew this area well since I work out at the 24 fitness gym down the street but I did not know this pho restaurant was located here at all. It's good to know a pho spot is in this area. I came here with my family for lunch. It was just ok. Not sure if I will return. There was a bit too much noodles. And the broth was a bit off. I always taste the broth first at any pho place I try before adding condiments, and this one had a weird sour after taste. My first meal out since the 49th day has passed. I've been eating a vegetarian diet for 50 days to help my uncle in his afterlife. I knew I wanted pho, but it was an added bonus to have not just Gavin but my nephew, too. It was my first time taking him out. We ordered 2 Pho Dac Biet and a small Pho Tai w/o onions and cilantro. I asked for a small bowl and scissors. The restaurant was clean, service was quick, and nice. My only complaint was having to use disposable wooden chopsticks. Went here on a whim with a coworker for lunch and I could not have been more pleased. We didn't think that we had enough time for pho, so we both got rice plates and they served us some broth along with them. The broth was incredibly flavorful and my shaken beef rice plate did NOT disappoint. I also got a papaya salad, because whenever I see that on a menu, I can't resist. Service was pretty quick. The pho is done right here. I've tried the beef pho and the Bun bo Hue at this restaurant and they are both phenomenal. The soup stock is perfect and the part I like most is the beef tendons and tripe they add. Big hulking anabolic chickens they get these from. After deep frying they're briefly stir fried with some fragrant vegetables and mixed with a sweet and tangy tamarind sauce. Really worth the price! Good: Combination Pho #2: I honestly feel like most pho tastes pretty similar. This one is solid, but there's nothing that particular elevates it in my eye above the competition. The meats were good quality and tendons were nice and soft. Service is quick and efficient. Love a classic pho restaurant. I'd say this place is just a tad on the pricier side but I think it's worth the journey. The portions were so generous! If you aren't someone who eats huge portions, you could easily take half to go for a second meal. Lastly, I really want to highlight the service here. The waiters were super friendly and actually *smiled* at us when we walked in the door. They were super kind when we ordered, and were also on top of making sure we had water throughout our meal. For apps, their tamarind chicken wings were a bit overcooked and the flavor was just okay. Sadly, their Shrimp Fried Roll was dripping oil, so I had to stop early on that. I was happy to see the addition of sandwiches to the menu. Had their grilled pork Banh Mi with a good-sized, perfectly toasted roll. But the sandwich lacked the amount of meat. Fried rice was pretty average. Shockingly, it didn't look like the picture in the menu. What stood out was their Grilled Pork Chop over Rice. Everything on this plate made us smile, from the tenderness of the chop to the grilled flavor. What also had me at first taste was their Pho#3 with well done brisket, flank tendon, and tripe. This place has been here a year or so but was news to me when we were searching up pho places to eat at. This one took the place of the KFC that used to be here. It only comes in one size LARGE. Not too long after and our Pho was out. Before I added all my toppings I had to give the broth a taste. It was salty at least for my preference. Once all the toppings were in it helped try to cover that salty taste. Plenty of meat, tripe, meatballs, and other parts. A lot of noodles. Size was decent for the $17 paid for this bowl. I didn't finish the broth or noodles. We got water refills midway our meal. Plenty of toppings for the table. Table was clean and everything you needed was there. When it was time to pay the guy asked if we wanted to do separate and when I said yes he got annoyed. Shouldn't have asked if you were gonna get annoyed we would have placed it all on one card but you offer and it makes it easy for us. When we left the place was almost packed so it's a popular spot in this tiny plaza. Parking shared with other shops. Good place for pho in south San Jose. There are better places for dishes like the bun bo hue from Hue but Pho Teresa is also a very solid place for pho. The soup is very flavorful and portion sizes are fairly good even for the smaller bowl of soup. Bring your appetite if you order the large bowl! The meat inside the pho is fresh and there is also a very good amount of meat. I come often with my coworkers and the service is fairly fast. We found Pho Teresa per Reddit reviews and I was quite impressed with their pho. The broth has a specific taste which the hubby and I love! It takes us back to the pho we ate in Paris. The only downside is their service. I always requests "less noodles" and they nod to my request (I like to drink my broth over having noodles). However, they bring a bowl which consists of mainly noodles EVERY time. The noodles are nothing to rave about like other pho spots. They taste generic. The meatballs are chewy and have a lot of the tendon in them which I am not a fan of. As stated, the broth is what does it for me. Trying different items from the menu today. My husband got the Beef Stew Egg Noodles. He said he liked it better than the phở. My mother who was joined us today got the bún bò huế (BBH) said the broth was rather oily. The dish itself wasn't true BBH because it used the same meats for the phở rather than other beef cuts. When ordering, I'm quite sure our waitress heard me order the tamarind chicken wings (since she asked me to co firm it was item #A7. At the end of our meal, I realized our wings never came out. When I had gone up to pay, it turned out they missed the itemed so the kitchen never made it. My group came around 1PM. The store was pretty full with a few vacant tables. We were seated quickly in the corner by the door, which at first seemed fine. But throughout our time eating, there were flies that kept pestering us. Super happy that there's a good pho place in South San Jose, which saves me time from driving across to East San Jose.
