This used to be one of my favorite places to eat when they were at the market. The place where they had all of the karma working for them, and the long wait times, that were well worth it. But, since they have moved to a brand new space, the place has taken a 180 in the wrong direction. The food just isn't as good as it used to be. I'm not sure what that is due to, the new cooks, the new pots and pans, the new atmosphere not having the grit and ambiance of the old restaurant. It's a shame, because they had something really special at Findlay Market, but that is gone with the new space, and food that simply is not as good. Thank you Pho Lang Thang for expanding to a much larger location! This was the perfect upgrade of space. I always enjoyed them, but I felt a bit crowded in the other space. Not to mention, it was a bit old. This location has a lovely, fresh, new look with plenty of space for larger groups. The menu is still the exact same, which I also thank them for because I've always loved it. What is added though is a cocktail bar! I wasnt exactly missing this at the old space, but the addition is nice should you choose to have a cocktail with your meal. The service is great as well. I had zero complaints, as everyone has always been great and informative. Thankful that this carried over into the new location as well. My favorite item to order is the Lemongrass Grilled Chicken Noodle Salad with Fried Spring Rolls chopped up on top. Delish!!! read more

The Goi Cuon is a tasty appetizer- rice paper wrapper filled with crispy vegetables, sliced pork and vermicelli - peanut sauce on the side. The salty, fish sauce was also a nice complement with the rolls. I don't have much experience with Vietnamese cuisine - but, this offering delivered the double whammy of value and taste. I lived in California for a couple of years and got addicted to Pho. Since moving back to the NKY/Cincinnati, I had been looking for place to go have some. This place was very disappointing. I ordered a vegetable broth with bamboo shoots and tofu. It was just okay, the broth had very little flavor. The dish was served at room temperature and was cold halfway though eating it. My friend had a bowl with meat and said it was good, but wasn't more than room temperature. The garnishment served with the Pho was pretty sad and looked old. The amount of flies in the restaurant was a little overwhelming and they landed on our garnishment so we did not want to use them after that. I gave this place three stars because the waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She did a great job and I left her a good tip even though the food wasn't very good. I don't know if this place is authentic by any means. Maybe have someone's grandma make you some but if you're desperate this place may work. read more

We came here on a Monday so Findlay Market was closed. Barely anyone was here so there was no wait to order. The staff were very kind and patient as we were browsing the menu. We ordered the cold noodles and Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk. They were both very satiating in my opinion. The coffee was pretty strong since I drank it around 4 in the afternoon and still couldn't fall asleep around 4 in the morning. It would be nice to get it in the morning. The noodles came with the Vietnamese fish sauce. The fish sauce gave the cold noodles flavor. It grilled pork was also cut thin, which was a bonus to me cause it allowed me to chew it easily. read more

Very authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Located right in the heart of Findlay Market, this place is definitely one of a kind in the area. I came on a week day which was a good idea since this place gets packed on the weekends. Interior design is nothing special. The menu offers everything from rolls, sandwiches, to a huge selection of pho. I got the Vegan Spring Roll and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. The Spring roll was very well put together and the vegetables inside the roll were finely selected and raw. It also came with a peanut sauce. The Grilled Chicken Sandwich was unique as it had a very Asian-Testy taste. Both of these items together were about 10 bucks, so the price is very reasonable especially for the area. Staff was very friendly. It took some time though for the food to come out and the place could be a little cleaner inside. I will definitely come back again though because the food is very good. Coolest spot ever, even the parking is awesome. Located in the Findlay market in downtown Cincinnati, this restaurant instantly became one of my favorites. The whole street is filled with fun and whimsical art and designs. This is one of those places where the food is equally as amazing as the location. We drove from Philly and before we even set foot in the restaurant, our waiter Lukas was already greeting us and smiling from inside. If that's not a welcoming sign when you come to a brand new city, I don't know what is! The restaurant itself is very spacious and scattered with fun decorations. The menu is also very unique, it's reminiscing of old school Vietnam where they used to write their menu on old news paper and magazines. We had the beef brisket and rare steak with meatballs pho. The beef brisket is the highlight here. They taste fresh and full of beefy flavors without any of the frozen meat residue. The meatballs were tender as well. The broth was very aromatic but could have been a bit sweeter. One improvement necessary however, I wish the broth was much hotter, it was only lukewarm. With that said however, it was still a very tasty bowl of pho. The star of the show here however, had to be the grilled Vietnamese sandwich. I opted to get extra meat and extra garlic aioli. The bread itself is not traditional baguette but more akin to a pillowy cheesesteak bread. I didn't think I'd like the change but it actually worked better. The between the really buttery aioli and the super moist grilled pork, the bread was the perfect vessel to contain all those flavors. I was very blown away with this sandwich and I would drive 10 hours to drive another one. In all, beautiful spot, exceptional service (shout out to our waiter Lukas) and terrific food. First impression: not a traditional Vietnamese place Plate: a lot more traditional than I what expect it to have been. I ordered pho bo tai nam (steak and brisket) and a Chinese BBQ pork banh mi to try out. Both tasted very good. Good broth and meat in the pho and the banh mi was crispy. Bad news: I got food poisoning from this place and felt terrible a few hours after I ate. What? I haven't written a review of Pho Lang Thang? How could this be? Pho Lang Thang was the first Pho I ever had and it is still my favorite Pho in the city (and there's some decent Pho here, too!). The aroma in Pho Lang Thang is always foreshadowing to the delicious bowl of Vietnamese-goodness to come. On the weekends, you'll definite need to be ready for a wait unless you get there early. Pho Lang Thang also makes for great lunch-time fare throughout the week if you work in close proximity to downtown (You can event get it delivered via the 53T courier). If you're hungry, I'd recommend getting at least a medium sized bowl of Pho, the rolls make great appetizers as well (the shrimp and pork is my favorite). If you're sick, hungover, or just in the mood to warm the soul, Pho Lang Thang is a must-visit in Cincinnati. Also, if you're visiting, it's a great excuse to explore Findlay Market, the oldest continually operating public market in Ohio! read more

I finally made it to Pho Lang Thang in Findlay Market after over 5 years of living in Cincy, and it was very good! If you've never had Pho, you need to try it. Pho always hits the spot on a cold evening, and it fills you up without making you feel too full. I ordered a Pho Chay (Vegan Soup) and decided to go with the Dac Biet (with tofu, mushrooms, bamboo shoots). My all-time favorite Pho in in the city is from Cilantro in Clifton, but this was a close second. One thing that I would say is that the broth was a bit blander than I expected. I ordered vegan/vegetarian Pho at other places that had much more flavorful of broths, so that was my only complaint. They have a pretty extensive menu, and I'd like to try more of their pho at some point! As for drinks, definitely try the Da Chanh (Vietnamese limeade) -- it really hit the spot! Another perk for all of you bubble tea lovers is that they have a few flavors from Boba Cha (mango with jelly and taro with tapioca boba, from what I can remember off the top of my head)! (Check out my separate Boba Tea review if you want more info about their bubble tea.) Overall, Pho Lang Thang was great, and it does live up to the hype! Not the best pho but also not the worst. The meat was a little overcooked to the point of being too tender but the flavor was not bad. Noodles were cooked just right and not too mushy. I would probably not go out of my way to visit this shop but after a week of camping I was extremely thankful to see this place to get my fix of asian food. Cold, snowy weather calls for a big steamy bowl of pho! The pho was good, but the restaurant was dirty, which kind of put me off. Overall, A-OK. Pho Lang Thang does their beef pho right...The broth is very flavorful (it takes almost a day to make it!), and they serve it with all the fix-ins. I like to put extra hoisin sauce, lots of bean sprouts, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime in mine. I ordered the small PH BÒ Tái (Rare Steak, $7.25) and my husband got the medium PH BÒ Tái, Nm, Bò Viên (Rare Steak, brisket, meatballs, $11). I would definitely order the small again, the medium was way too big. I didn't even finish the small! The rare steak was good, it was a nice pink when it was served, and continued to cook in the broth as I was eating it. I loved the broth, but felt the noodles were overcooked. The rare steak was the best meat by far, the meatballs weren't very good (too chewy). Overall, not my favorite pho place in Cincinnati, but still pretty good and a good value with the small bowl of pho. I was enjoying my pho, but the restaurant itself was so dirty it kind of ruined the dinner experience. The air was heavy with a fryer oil smell, almost like they had no ventilation in the restaurant and they had burnt something in their fryer. The floors were filthy, and there were flies buzzing around our heads while we were eating. We ended up eating our food for about 10 minutes, then asking for to-go containers to eat it at home. I was really torn between giving this a two star or three. I ordered their Special bahn mi. Bahn mi's are harder to screw up. Honestly I liked my bahn mi. For a good price they stack it too. And I like their bread. It was soft. My bf and our friend ordered the pho - after all, it's what this place is known for. Both were highly disappointed. I got to try some too and felt the same. The broth is not flavorful enough. Also, my bf and friend's pho bowls were not HOT when they came out. Their meat couldn't cook in it the way it's supposed to. Their pho was warm. Not hot enough though. To be fair I guess, they waived a $3 charge (?!?!) for an extra bowl of hotter broth they could use to cook their meat in. There were a few things wrong with their pho: 1. Not hot enough for meat to cook in 2. Not enough flavor in their broth 3. TOO OILY!! There is a visible layer of oils on the top of the bowl. This is never supposed to happen with pho. 3. They put pepper in it (??!?!). Instead of trying to use the pepper to bring out the taste in the broth, make better broth.. As a Californian it's hard for me to trust that pho will be good anywhere outside of a major city. This held true for this place unfortunately. I'd say, if you know what good authentic pho tastes like, you won't like their pho here. Get a bahn mi instead. To end on a more positive note, their Vietnamese iced coffee was pretty up to par. read more

We came here for the bun bowls and desk spring rolls on a winter evening. The place is located in Findlay Market. It definitely smelled like a Vietnamese joint (aka you'll walk out and your clothes will smell of the grill) although it wasn't run by Vietnamese people when we were there. The food was closer to actual Vietnamese compared to Cilantro near UC. The rolls are 2 rolls an order and are decent sized. Sauce is ok. The bun bowls are ok. Wish they had more veggies in it and some salt at the table because the nuoc mam (fish sauce) didn't season the bowl too well. Overall decent place for Vietnamese food, at least the bun. read more

The first place I experienced Vietnamese food and one of my all time favorites! This place is hard to beat. I usually start with spring rolls and then finish off with the chicken Bun( not sure of the spelling) or the noodles salad and then enjoy an iced coffee to-go! Sometimes I'll opt for the Pho. Either is amazingly flavorful and so fresh! I certainly never feel bad for cleaning my plate but I usually leave with a little snack for later. Service is always attentive even when they are lined out the door. I have no complaints and will continue going back to this joint as much as I possibly can! read more

Pho Land Thang is 'doin' the damn thang!'. Amazing pho, best in town. Small space so I wouldn't recommend going with a big group. Every time I have gone I have had to wait for a table. I don't mind the wait- it is right in the heart of Findlay Market and there is plenty to do/see while you wait. I just wouldn't go if you were in a hurry. In the summer they put tables outside which helps with the seating situation. But I prefer to go in the cooler months, nothing better than some warm Pho on a cold day. A good spin on the Vietnamese pho - the broth is very rich and flavorful, and for those of you who love pho, you know that is what makes or breaks a great pho. For those looking for a more traditional take on the pho, you may find the broth a bit heavy and oily - personally I am more used to a more clear and light broth. I felt the noodles were right on point and not too chewy or underdone. I love tendon with my pho, and they were able to nail it - not too chewy. We also ordered the summer rolls which I felt were done very well - the skin of the outside nice and thin. Having spent much time in Asia including many pho noodle joins in Vietnam, I am used to the 'local Asian noodle shop' environment, however I can see how some may feel there is cleanliness issues at the restaurant, including dust on lighting and dirtier floors. Didn't bother me, but I can see some people being put off by that. Only other downside is that this place gets really busy during lunch time so you may not get the get the best attention during the visit. For me, it was the traditional basil, bean sprouts, and lime - it did not come out with the pho and I had to wait sometime before I had to ask the waiter to bring it over. Overall, this place is worth the visit while in Findlay market. Not sure about the +1 hour waits during peak times - but I guess it's a good reason to explore the market whiles waiting for your seat. read more

Very disappointed with quality and lack of flavor. Came here on a Saturday morning. Surprisingly no wait. Sat down quickly and order with my friend. I started with Vietnamese coffee was condense milk. Legit and no complaints. We shared the fried spring rolls. It was incredibly salty. I personally like my food savory yet was surprised by level of salty ness. My friend agreed and we both have to wash it down with water. I got the pho with rare beef it did came with good amount of garnish. However, it was less than 4 piece of beef which was over cooked and dried. I was disappointed also with overly oily broth that didn't not obtain any flavor at all. I had to discard layers of it before I tried it but couldn't even finish most of my pho at the end because it was too much. Our waiter came was super busy and came by the table to ask how it was. I complaint with disappointment and he said he will talk to the chef about it. At the end he told most of the meal charge away to apologize. Hence the additional star per my review today. Pho Lang Thang has been on my list of foods to try at Findlay for a while, and I'm glad I finally made it here. I generally gravitate toward Fresh Table, and I was somewhat turned off by how busy they always were. But I was pleasantly surprised that even on a Saturday they were packed that I was quickly seated and was given prompt service. Nice. I had the Dac Biet Pho. It was quite tasty. Not the best Pho I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. The 20 hour beef broth was the star of the dish; a little on the oily side but excellent. Bean sprouts, cilantro, basil, and jalopenos were served prior to the dish as a 'salad' - somewhat unusual since I wouldn't generally eat these ingredients separately, and threw them in the pho when it arrived. All ingredients in the pho were great. On the recommendation from my server I got a medium as opposed to a large - the medium was huge and definitely enough, I'm not sure how big the large is! The person I was with ordered the Bun Ga Nuong (Grilled Chicken Noodle Salad). I tried some and to be honest it was better than the pho I ordered! Chicken was seasoned great, and everything blended together perfectly! It came with 4 spring rolls and sauce which tasted wonderful. If I come back here, I'm ordering this! I was really close to giving Pho Lang Thang 5 stars, but I feel that the seating is somewhat cramped, it is always busy, and I've had better pho in other cities.
