Wanted to try out a new pho place and picked this one randomly off of Yelp. Very spacious interior and no wait time during dinner on a Saturday which was nice. Service was friendly and fast, giving it another plus. Unfortunately, I found the prices to be on the higher end for pho places in the area and portions were smaller in comparison to competitors as well. I've had a lot of viet food and would say this was nothing special. The pho broth had decent flavor but appeared cloudy in color vs the clearer color you'll normally get with a good pho broth. My husband and I have been attempting to find a pho place closer to home since we have moved and we were pleasantly surprised by Pho Lyfe! The spring rolls had meat which is not something I had tried before, but they were good you can't really mess up spring rolls. Visited for lunch for the first time since it moved from Homestead, replacing Pho. No. 1 (who remembers that one?); we ordered popcorn chicken, Phở P4 Tái Nam (rare steak and flank), and C3 BBQ beef short rib and rice. Popcorn chicken pieces were very small; maybe that was the standard size when the snack first debuted in the US but most offer larger pieces now. At Pho Lyfe since the pieces were small, I didn't have much chicken taste, and the fried batter covering was rather thick and hard. It is served with a side of Thai chili sauce. I would not order this again. The pho broth was decent, with maybe an even stronger flavor than what was offered at the old location. The meat tasted a bit dry though As for the short rib, the rice plate comes with two slices. I found the marinade to be uneven; one piece had a sweeter taste (too sweet for my preference but most places are too sweet for me) than the other. Overall it was good but maybe not worth $19 (probably I would think the same of any other place with a similar offering on the menu). I didn't notice any big changes to menu other than the addition of popcorn chicken; I think the price did go up slightly since the move. It doesn't look like many renovations were done to the store; the bathroom could be in better condition. It also seems like it isn't as crowded with tables as before, but there are still a lot of tables. Standard service (?) and experience for a Phở place, if you'd like a water refill, ask. Honestly, this is some of the better pho I've had that's not in San Jose. This is a lowkey spot, located next to the large Korean grocer Kyo-Po. You'll always find plenty of parking and no need to reserve. Get a treat at Tous Le Jours next door afterwards! I always order Pho Tai, a thinner cut of the flank steak that is my favorite. Very clean broth and not too oily. Service is very fast and there's not usually any line or difficulty. I've also ordered to-go before and everything is nicely packaged for you to re-heat at home. I order the small size, it's more than enough for me to finish on my own. Unless you're really, really hungry, I wouldn't opt for the regular size-- it's pretty big! I've never tried any appetizers here, I just stick to the pho. The price here comes out to about $16-17/pp incl tax for the small bowl of pho. I wanted to try this pho place out. They are located inside of a plaza right next to a korean market. When you enter inside its pretty dark and gloomy. They have booths and tables for seating. The owner is right in front at the register. He's super friendly when we entered he asked how many people and he seated us. Be asked if we want the booth or table. We opted for the booth. The staff are super nice but there was a language barrier. I asked for a bowl but the staff didn't understand. And luckily the boss was near by and assisted. I also asked for the shrimp past for my bun bu hue. They offer two options for size. They offer two sizes. The large size for $14.95 and the smaller size for $13.95. I opted for the large size for p1 the combo and the bun bu hue. The bun bu hue sadly was not spicy at all. I added half of the shrimp paste and 4 scoops of hot chili sauce. And added the alternative sriracha sauce. The p1 comes with a variety of meat, but the beef ball was oddly not even a full beef ball. It seemed like it was only 1/4 beef ball. The broth was nice. But I have had better honestly in san jose area. They offer different options, such are just beef flank, just beef balls, or just steak or tendons. I don't think I would come back. Prices are somewhat decent - 1 large pho bowl + set of spring rolls will set you back ~$30 with tip. Fast service with TV playing in the background. Super casual and quick. Keep note that KP employees get a small discount. My pick is the dac biet (combo of steaks etc). There's ample parking around the place early on but I'm not sure if it'll fill up later in the day as it's next to a Korean supermarket, but the lot is pretty sizable. As it is fast casual-esque you just place your order at the table and then pay up at the front. Didn't take long for food to come out. I went with the Pho Dac Biet (combination beef noodle soup) large, which came with all your beefy fixings including rare cuts to be cooked in the broth, meatballs, and tripe. As someone who grew up in a Vietnamese household and in the Bay Area. I felt like I was spoiled all my life by delicious and authentic Vietnamese dishes. San Jose is by far one of the best places to go for good Vietnamese and Mexican food. I was honestly blown away by this spot. Although $20 for a bowl of pho is kinda insane. This hole in the wall pho restaurant really hit the spot! While the space was plenty spacious, they do close a little early at 8 so no late night meals to be had here. However, whatever you end up ordering will be sure to be packed with flavor and satisfy any noodle cravings you may harbor. I got my favorite, bun bo hue (spicy noodle soup with pork blood), and it was one of the best I've had. Broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly complemented by passion fruit juice on the side. Portions are generous enough, though I was famished and ordered a large. Service was great, they took our orders quickly and didn't try to kick us out even after we had finished eating. Pho Lyfe is my go-to when I crave a quick meal of hot pho. Among different pho places I tried, their broth is served the hottest. The restaurant space is pretty big so usually there's no problem with seating, and parking is decent since this is located in a large plaza. They kept some decor and seating the same from the previous establishment, so it's relatively comfortable in there. Like other pho places, you order and then pay at the counter when you're done. I typically order a small combination pho, and it's enough for me (as a smaller eater). Prices have gone up over the years, but portions are still reasonable. The tendons and some meats are a bit tough and hit or miss sometimes, but overall still a reliable spot for a quick meal. read more

I met a friend here for lunch as the reviews were great but I was disappointed. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot, that's a plus. I got there first and was seated immediately, since it was pretty empty, I was able to choose my own table. Good spot for homey / casual Vietnamese fare if you're in the area! It's a pretty big space inside the restaurant with lots of tables so you likely won't have to wait. We came on a Friday evening and there were a good number of open tables. The table we sat at was a little bit dirty though... We started our meal with the fresh spring rolls with shrimp and pork which is a classic that I almost always order at Vietnamese restaurants. These were quite good and perfectly refreshing :) Then, I got the P3 pho (with rare steak and beef meatballs) and my boyfriend got the P14 bun bo hue. We both opted for the large since it was just $1 more than the small size but the portions were HUGE; we could have easily both gotten the small and been full by the end. Both the pho and bun bo hue were solid, and the bun bo hue definitely had a good amount of spice and umami flavor.
