29. Mì Bò Kho / Beef stew w Egg noodle soup
Karen W.

First time in a long time that I've had lunch here and the menu has a variety of items from appetizers, to pho, to bun, to rice plates, several different kinds of drinks, fried noodles. Came here with family and friends today. Parking was easy. We ordered the chicken wing appetizer, beef stew pho, combination crispy noodles, pork chop plate with eggroll and chicken wing, combination seafood egg noodle soup, a 3 soursop smoothie. The chicken wings came out piping out and very crispy skin! My combination seafood egg noodle soup was very tasty and I took most my soup noodles home!

Ordered the chicken vermicelli and man, the serving was huge. Food came out quick and you pay at the front when finished. The chicken was tender and I swear it came with like 5 chicken thighs lol. Fried egg rolls are as expected. Can't really go wrong with it.

Haven't been back in years, it's still ok, but close to home. Dinner Mon 5.26.25 Memorial Day. Got: Fresh spring tolls 2 rolls cuz to have 4 pcs for $9. It's ok, just pricey. Hu Tieu small $14 - it's ok, chicken too dry, other stuff ok. Husband got the pho dat biet medium $15.45 - he liked it. You can use credit card over $15. Why I still pay cash, omg. Total was $45.85 and I gave tip.

Our favorite Phó spot. Our go too. They have the best Phó, Beef plates and the best fresh spring roll. And the food is ready super fast

Bún Bò Huế ($18.78 w/tax) - Very good; tasty broth.

Pho Pasteur - Home of what HM and I proudly call the "Big Bowl." Don't let my three-star rating fool you - this spot is one of my top go-to places for the "Big Bowl," aka the large #1 special combination. I have great memories of when Pho Pasteur first opened back in the day, and it's nice to see they're still going strong. Back when I lived in the area, this was the go-to spot to meet up with friends over a delicious bowl of pho. Restaurant front - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&start=24&select=bqn7Fz81qHb_WFk4dlWzyQ I was in town for a few days and it was cold and rainy, perfect weather for Big Bowl. However, instead of my default, number one special, I opted for a spicy order of Bún Bò Huế... 'And it hit the spot. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=ka16GFrQCktxRWvDEZ0zGw The menu is relatively expansive, featuring a variety of pho and other Vietnamese specialties. I appreciate the generous portions of noodles and meat, making it a solid spot for a hearty meal. The service is fast, ensuring that even on a tight schedule one can enjoy a satisfying dining experience. I wasn't trying to rush through my bowl of Bún Bò Huế, but I still managed to be in and out in just 30 minutes. After a 6 1/2 hour drive from Orange County, what can I say? I was starving. Clean caps please - Nothing kills my appetite faster than grimy, crusty condiment lids. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&start=0&select=dnW874GwHFPOoVO-HUkobQ The ambiance is simple, straightforward, and unpretentious, perfectly fitting its modest strip mall setting. Despite its simple setting, the restaurant maintains a clean environment and offers ample parking, making it accessible and convenient for patrons. Interior - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ&select=kHdvQkBG3SNbL8XfbUmuWQ In short, if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine with flavorful pho and speedy service, Pho Pasteur is a commendable choice. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and treat yourself to a Big Bowl. Note: The restaurant is no longer CASH ONLY. Now accepting credit cards. - Big Aloha! After watching a movie my niece and I went here for early dinner. It's cold and there's no best way to eat but noodle soup! It's my first time eating here but Ive been seeing them whenever I do grocery shopping across them at Seafood City. The food was good and service is great plus the place is clean too. There were not much people since it was only 4 oclock. We got the shrimp cake, bunbohue for me and beef pho for my niece. Price was couple dollars more than the one we go to but it's Definitely recommendable!

Decent place for Vietnamese food in the area. They have an expansive menu and good selection for Pho soups. We've been here a few times and this place has plenty of tables for dining in and a quick order for takeout. Typically, the wait time is around 10-15 minutes if your order in. We ordered the rice combo and they were good and flavorful. The prices however, were steep compared to San Jose prices. Overall, not bad Vietnamese eatery for the area. Cheers!

Their prices increased to $8 but that's inflation for you...can't expect it to stay $4 forever lol. They have other food items but I don't get it that much. Service remains top tier as the workers hustle their way to pushing our sandwiches at top speed. They now offer Zelle as an option to pay but just have cash ready bc signal is not that great.

Bread was 5 stars, toasted and soft inside. 5 stars overall - egg rolls, wow, surprisingly good since it was on the deli and who knows how long it was sitting there. Still crunchy and very flavorful - stuffed bitter melon, wasn't sure if I wanted to try it since the color wasn't vibrant green, but a customer in front of me ordered one so what the heck, I love bitter melon. Wow, full of flavor, the pork filling was excellent, 5 stars Service - took 20 minutes to get our a simple order, not the most efficient, but one must accept this for the price point and quality, but still slow so only 3 stars I would average this out as 3 stars but the food far outweighs the service, just be prepared for a long wait.

My husband came back home and explained the worker was giving him an attitude. No one had bad intention here and there was no need for such treatment. As someone who has been drinking Vietnamese coffee since I was 12 (Im much older now), I am very picky with my Vietnamese coffee. This place knocked it out of the park with their coffee as well as offering flavors that I never tried other than the original. The phin set I ordered is for dine in only and understandably so. The pandan cream topping was definitely new for me and I would give it the compliment of saying that it wasnt too sweet. Not pictured was the pandan waffle and the two pate chaud I ordered, which I ate before taking the picture, I am sorry. It might be on the pricey side but hoenstly these days, what isnt? Im not complaining, I would come back next time I am around the area. Lastly, I wanted to shout out the workers there on that day. You guys seemed understaffed and getting slammed, but everyone did their job and delivered.

My recommendation is to order your drinks less sweet. It's the perfect level of sweetness. The only tweak I'd make is adding an extra shot of espresso to the coconut coffee. The food, unfortunately, didn't live up to the drinks. I tried a few of the bánh mì sandwiches, and the bread-to-filling ratio was way off. There just wasn't enough filling, and even after ordering extra veggies, it didn't seem like there were actually any extra added. If you're specifically craving a Vietnamese sandwich, I'd recommend driving about a mile up the road to Huong Sandwiches instead. That said, I still want to come back and try more of their food menu because the drinks alone keep bringing me back. The café itself is adorable. I love the modern design and all the greenery throughout the space. It's clean, quiet enough to study or work, and has about 7 small tables, making it ideal for solo visits or small groups of up to four people. I also appreciated the powerful hand dryer in the restroom (it's the little things!) and plenty of parking. Come for the drinks, stay for the atmosphere.

IN THIS ECONOMY??? hell nah. i've never been truly disappointed but the food is obviously quite mid, not mid enough to get 3 stars though. service is okay! located in the plaza near to crackhead center (mcdonalds) and others. easy to find parking, seating not bad i guess spring rolls - good! in an average way. peanut sauce is good but a bit watery and salty. rolls were not like fat but also not malnourished so i suppose that's a good thing. nonetheless i chowed it down because i eat whatever is in front of me 8/10 house special vermicelli bowl - had some shrimp which had no taste aka devoid of flavor! that's pretty crazy in a vietnamese restaurant. pork was kinda burnt, flavor on point. not enough nuoc cham, lots of veggies. despite its flaws the bowl is good and hits pretty hard when you're constipated 7/10 overall this place is around 3.5 stars. if they fail me ONCE i will drop it to like 3 idk. sometimes mid food hits the hardest because you always know what to expect!

My partner called in two orders of chicken pho soup to-go. We were working from home with a sick child, so he rushed to pick up the order on his lunch. When about to eat, we discover they gave us 2 orders of beef pho soup in error. We're short on time so it's annoying & inconvenient, but no big deal, we'll just call them & surely they will make it right. WRONG. The lady employee said to come back & she'd give us the right order & throw in an extra soup. Given our time constraints for work, we were not able to go back in that moment. We asked if they could door dash the correct order to us. NO was the answer. Just give us a refund, since we don't eat beef & can't go back right now. Lady TOLD US SHE COULDNT GIVE US A REFUND. "WE DONT DO THAT" she said. I work with credit card machine so I know she could indeed give us a refund without the card present, but maybe she meant as a policy they do not. She kept insisting we go back in that moment to get the correct order even after repeatedly telling her we couldn't. It was not an option for us with work meetings & a sick child. She then told us to come back later if we couldn't go now. With gas prices so high, this was just impractical. After spending 10 mins on the phone with the lady who wouldn't accommodate us, I told my partner we would file a credit card complaint & will eat the soup without the meat because we had no other food readily & had to feed our sick child. In the afternoon, my partner decided he would drive there instead of filing a complaint, high gas prices & all. We call the lady again to let her know. SHE ASKS US TO BRING HER THE WRONG FOOD ORDER FROM EARLIER. Are you serious??? This is the first time she mentioned this to us. We took pics earlier & could show her as proof, but we explained we had eaten the soup BECAUSE WE NEEDED TO EAT LUNCH, but could bring her the beef, but it was just so petty & gross (HOPEFULLY THEY WERENT GOING TO SERVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE 6 HOURS LATER????), I was outraged but kept my cool. I asked for her manager. She said the manager was not there. Again I asked for a refund, she insisted we bring her back the food. The conversation was so petty my partner told me to forget about taking her the old food, he didn't trust they wouldn't tamper with his new food at this point. I told the lady that we would be filing a credit card complaint to get our money back. She said "okay" and hung up. No apology. In fact, she never apologized for the ordeal. When this has happened with other restaurants they have made things right, EASILY. Which is what PHO MAMA should have done. Never going back again. We only went cus Red Chili in Hayward is currently closed. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Not to mention I'm still hungry cus that soup without meat was not filling. Plus, imagine the work environment there if employees are not at liberty to make things right in a practical and logical way.

TWO PHOS AND TWO RICE PLATES…read more The first time I came here was about a couple of months ago for Sunday dinner with my family. I'm not a fan of pho so I decided to order a rice plate, which was Combo Plate #2 that included one grilled pork and two fried chicken wings. The rice plate I ordered was ok. Even though the chicken wings were cooked inside the meat tasted bland. I wasn't planning to come back here anytime soon. On the menu however I saw a pho item that consisted of chicken quarters. The next time I came here was a couple of days later for lunch. I ordered the pho with chicken quarters. With the addition of the ginger scallion sauce the dish is basically Hainan chicken pho. I've had this type of pho at another eatery and is the best chicken soup I've ever had. Since the chicken isn't shredded, the meat isn't dry. Usually for Hainan chicken I would dip the chicken in the ginger scallion sauce. I did something different for the first time. I added the scallion ginger sauce in the broth. This brought more flavor to the broth. I'd rather have scallion ginger sauce in the broth than sriracha. I'm not a fan of pho. Having the chicken quarters pho provided me a different perspective on pho. When I started having pho I would order get rare steak and beef tendon. What I noticed is that the rare steak changes the texture of the broth, which becomes murky. Maybe that's why I never craved for pho. I find well done beef atrocious. After having the chicken quarters pho I thought why not try the well done brisket. About week later I ordered the well done brisket pho for lunch. From the outset I noticed the broth from the well-done pho is clearer than any beef pho before. How did the broth taste? The broth was the best tasting pho with beef ingredients. I think that has to do with not having raw slices of beef. The blood from the raw beef makes the broth murky. Since the brisket was well-done there was no blood that made the broth cloudy. Also the flavor of the broth enhanced due to the fat from the brisket. The well-done brisket give me a different perspective on pho. Maybe in the future I just order well-done brisket for pho. My last visit I had another rice plate. As I already ordered the chicken leg quarters pho I wanted to try the rice plate version. This dish is Pho Nation's version of Hainan chicken. Even though the scallion ginger was served this dish is different from Hainan chicken as chicken at Pho Nation is steamed and served hot. I ate two phos and two rice dishes. Normally at pho eateries I tend to like the rice dishes more, but at Pho Nation I enjoyed the phos more. If I want to eat pho with a clear yet tasty broth I would come to Pho Nation for either the chicken quarters or well-done brisket pho.
