We went this Pho place in Chinatown for a quick lunch with relatives. The crispy noodle with seafood (extra $1 vice chicken or pork) was rather delicious! It was top with flowery cut squids, medium sized shrimps, a few slices of deep fried fish cake over succulent seafood and vegetables sauce. Vermicelli pho soup was another dish that would call for more. They also serve many flavor boba drinks and freshly cut and squeezed sugarcane Service was quick & friendly. Dine-in room was a bit crowded and noise level was bearable dB level when we were there at lunch time on Friday afternoon. Price wise, I was told that it was average. Compared to California, it may be a bit above average. But the delicious taste would make it justifiable to dine in or take out. The table was promptly cleaned once the party concluded their used, and most importantly, the restrooms were clean but no seat covers were available for those clean freaks, you know who you are; bring your own seat covers (BYOSC). Been here a few times throughout the years, I've always had a pleasant experience. Good food, quick service. Inside it feels like any other pho restaurant, decently large dining area and your typical sauces on the table. Once you start eating you quickly realize why this place is often busy. I enjoy the pho here but recently been trying other things they were amazing. Ive been trying to find a good grilled pork summer roll that I've been craving since a trip to Westminster and I finally found something comparable in Hawaii. My second adventure in my Bún bò Huế challenge. This time it's Pho Que Huong in Chinatown. It's delicious! It's served with generous amounts of beef, pork trotter and blood cubes. The side veggie herbs include a little container of fermented shrimp(?) paste. That's the difference here. I didn't want to commit the whole bowl at the start, so I added it to soup at the end. Their pho is always good, but you have to try their Vietnamese crepe that's loaded with shrimp, pork belly and mung bean. I wanted to stop here because it's become popular amongst foodies on social media. I wasn't actually too pleased with the pho it tasted pretty basic in my opinion it wasn't a "wow" i would come back and try this again kind of broth. This is my friends FAVORITE pho spot and after some drinking, you know pho is always necessary. We came here in the afternoon and they have a designated parking garage that you can park in. It was so busy, every single table full but we were still serviced immediately. I got the rare steak pho in medium and their portions are huge with lots of meat! I love Pho and I'm glad I come to this Vietnamese restaurant. Food and service are good, and portion is also pretty big. I start with Pho Cuon rolls, it is ok but I like Nem Nuong Cuon better. This place gets busy! We thought we'd show up a little earlier than the lunch rush, 11:30am, but that is the lunch rush! Took us about 10 minutes to get a table, which is not bad considering there were 4 of us. Our order was taken quickly since we used our wait time to peruse the menu and select what we were eating. We ended up ordering the pan fried pho with beef, pan fried pho with seafood, Bún Chả Giò Thịt/Gà Nướng (vermicelli w/pork and spring roll), and a vegan fried vermicelli with tofu. TASTY!! Food had great flavor and was just the right spice for my coworkers. Obviously I needed to add a lot more chili but itsnot perfect unless it's burning your insides! Servings were large and we all had leftovers. Our service was okay, we only had to ask for water refills once. There is a dessert menu but we didn't have enough time or space to do dessert. Here is definitely fresh and yummy!! They have such a wide variety of items to eat. I have been trying to eat different things when I come here ok everybody loves Pho - there is always a table with people enjoying Pho. I will admit I do eat raw beef salad once a month! It is a must try!! Their chicken wings are always tasty, their vermicelli bowls are filled with fresh veggies, noodles and protein of your choice. I tried 2 beef and chicken sooooo good! Our office ordered a group order as two people in my office said this place was the best. With all the rain this week, I was definitely craving some soup and was looking forward to this. I was impressed by the amount they gave, which made the price worth it. Lots of thai basil, culantro, and bean sprouts. I liked the amount of meat they gave. Lots of tripe, tendon, and meat. Your service is absolute garbage. This morning, I called to place an order. I initially tried using Vietnamese to order two PDBs, but the woman who answered couldn't understand me. I switched to English and asked for two "Pho Combinations." She understood that, took the order, and told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I also wanted to order Quẩy, so I asked, "Can I get one Quẩy?" Again, she didn't understand. So I clarified in English: "Add one Chinese doughnut." Guess what her response was? She condescendingly told me, "This is a Vietnamese restaurant, not a Chinese restaurant." What the hell is your problem? On your very own menu, that item is literally listed as a "Chinese doughnut." As a server, you don't even know your own restaurant's menu, yet you have the audacity to respond to a customer with such an arrogant, rude, and racially discriminatory attitude. It's disgusting. Everyone knows you are a Vietnamese restaurant. But Quẩy is widely known as a Chinese doughnut, and that is exactly how it is written on your menu. Learn your own menu. To make matters worse, when I arrived 20 minutes later, the front desk told me my phone order hadn't even been made yet and that I had to wait. What on earth was the point of me calling ahead? It's a complete joke. If you are going to be this arrogant and rude, and if you hate Chinese culture so much, why is your restaurant located in Chinatown? Why don't you move to a Vietnamese neighborhood? This is Chinatown. This restaurant has incredibly low-quality staff and a glaring issue with discrimination. It is absurd that an employee can work here without even knowing the menu. One of my favorite Pho places on the island. You know that you came to the right place for pho when the place is constantly packed and most of their customers are Vietnamese. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Their menu is extensive and authentic, and I'm yet to try everything on their menu. My go to is the steak pho and their summer roll. Their broth is very flavorful and their summer rolls are very full and thick. I understand that the servers are super busy, but I think they could do better on their service. This is my favorite Vietnamese place on the island. I came with my old assistant who was born and raised in Vietnam and she told me it was legit. I also went with a group of other Vietnamese people. I really like to come with a group so I can get the platter where you make your own summer rolls with whatever toppings/fillings you want in there. Although my wrapping skills are terrible, this is definitely my favorite dish of any Vietnamese restaurant. The grilled pork is my favorite although all of the things that you can put in there are good. The banh xeo is good too but it's not my favorite thing there. I have also gotten the pho a few times and the bean sprouts/basil leaves are quite generous. I do like their broth. The only downside is that it's hard to flag anyone down to refill your water. They are usually always busy so it's hard to get anyone to help you with water or anything else you might need. I usually park in the Chinatown garage since there's no dedicated parking as it is with most Chinatown restaurants. I enjoy coming here despite the parking and the water situation. This dish only has eight pieces of the wrapped beef. I could not taste the seasoning of the ground beef wrapped in the betel leaf. We had pre-ordered this dish because sometimes they run out. Rare beef salad $19 the thinly sliced beef is quite soft and tender. The salad dressing is quite good, which made this dish pop. Vietnamese grilled mussels $22 the size of the mussels were pretty good. Tamarind chicken wings $13 I didn't quite taste the tamarind on the chicken, but the wings were juicy and meat tender. Entrees: Special combo rice $19 includes broken rice, pork chop, shredded pork, shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd, an egg and romaine lettuce salad with fish sauce. Unfortunately, I didnt realize until after we left the restaurant that the dish came without a piece of meat loaf as was described on the menu. Very disappointed . Combo pho large $17 a popular pho dish. Spicy beef noodle soup $17 búnbòhuế many customers love this spicy noodle dish. Rice vermicelli $16 includes a spring roll and pork patties (nem nướng). Drinks: Vietnamese capuchino $6 was a very strong tasting coffee. Durian smoothie $9 had a mild durian taste. Dishes came out quickly. However, after that, no one came to check on us or refill our waters. Our wait help disappeared and we had to flag someone to pay our bill. Restaurant during this afternoon was not fully occupied. So many people recommended this restaurant when I was craving Vietnamese food when I was visiting Hawaii. Luckily, this is one of the spot my family chose to eat one day! It's located next to Lam's Kitchen on Maunakea St in Chinatown. There's paid street parking (free after 6pm) around the area which would be very difficult to find during morning, lunch, and dinner hours. You may have to park a couple blocks down to find a spot. I actually love the variety of noodle soup choices this restaurant offered because I don't really see much places around Hawaii as I was growing up. But I've noticed a lot of restaurants now offer these now which is amazing! I asked the server if he personally liked the Bun Bo Hue or Bun Rieu, and he said the former. I got their BBH and honestly really liked it! The broth wasn't as deep of a flavor but still a very nice spicy-ish pork broth that was very good. I never got tired of the broth as I continued eating it throughout my meal. There was also a TON of protein which was a huge plus. This was my mom's very first time trying BBH, and she really enjoyed it. I also got a Vietnamese coffee which was a really good pick me up the following day. I tried my cousin's combination pho and thought the pho broth was quite salty. It wasn't as hearty compared to the BBH. I didn't care for it - which means that I can try the other noodle soups next time instead of sticking to pho! My family also ordered their Green Papaya Salad with Shrimp and Pork, Chicken Feet Salad, Pork Banh Mi, Haianese Chicken, and Grilled Pork Patty Rolls (nem nuong). The papaya salad and chicken feet salad were sooooo good. Sooo much flavor and super refreshing. The chicken feet were especially good with the fish sauce. I personally prefer the cold chicken feet over the red chicken feet at dim sum places in Chinese cuisine. I don't generally see Vietnamese places with this so this was a pleasant surprise. The grilled pork roll was really good (something you can't find anywhere else). We ended up on Maunakea Street at Pho Que Huong, adjacent to Lam's Kitchen. This place has arguably the best pho in town. It was packed with diners, but we scored the last open table. They have a new menu and we all ordered #54: Bun Cha Gio - Heo / Ga Nu'ong, AKA cold vermicelli with spring rolls, grilled pork, and assorted vegetables (chopped lettuce, cucumber, mint leaves, bean sprouts, pickled carrots / daikon), topped with chopped peanuts and served with a dish of fish sauce. We order this dish at other Vietnamese restaurants and this one is excellent. There is the appropriate amount of noodles and toppings. One must mix it all together, much like one would with bibimbap noodles then pour on as much fish sauce as desired. This is a very refreshing dish; great on a hot day. $16 for a delicious lunch is a value in today's climate. Hah, when we left, there were twenty people standing outside waiting for a table.
