I asked my coworker who's a Vietnamese chef, that when she's tired of cooking all day, but wants to eat good Vietnamese food, where would she go? And her answer was this place and it did not disappoint! Located where the old Rice Paper and Pho My Lan used to be in Chinatown. Dining tables and chairs that can be combined for bigger or smaller parties alike. Note that it may be a little tight in some aisle ways, when maneuvering through. The service here is quick and efficient. And even though they can get really busy at times, they're still cranking out the food and beverages in a timely manner. As for the food, it's definitely comforting and delicious. The different pho broths (chicken, beef, etc) are all just right, not too oily, not too salty. I didn't even have to add in any condiments to enhance the flavor. The Banh Xeo is a huge portion, that can be shared amongst a party of 2-4. Street parking is located right out front, there's also a parking structure out back, with an entrance into the establishment directly from the parking structure. I will definitely be coming back here for more!
I haven't braved any yet, but you know this is a legit place if it has goat dishes on the menu. We've tried many different dishes and each one has been delicious! The ingredients are so fresh, especially the veggies. The rare beef salad and steamed duck salads were yummy. I've never had steamed duck before, and the meat was very tender and not as oily as the roasted style. Their pho is top notch, as well as the dry noodle fried with sauce meats served with broth on the side. The banh xeo (rice crepe) was immense, must have been about 1.5 ft in diameter! It was so huge it was served on a platter, along with lettuce and veggies. It was also nice and crispy on the edges, filled with the usual pork and bean sprouts. So far this place ranks in my top 2 Vietnamese restaurants that I've tried on Oahu. I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes, of which there are a huge selection, and maybe even one with goat soon!
Dangerous Raw Beef Caused Severe Food Poisoning!!!! I'm a returning customer who has ordered takeout here 5 times before. I always order the same thing which is the combination, I brought my pho home in 5 minutes and ate right away, but the raw beef leached massive amounts of blood and turned the whole broth red. I took a sip but through sway the rest instead. That turned out to be a huge mistake. By last night, I developed a severe case of acute food poisoning with violent diarrhea, nausea, and intense body aches. I have been completely bedridden and only just started to recover today. To confirm, my friend had the chicken Pho from the same order and they are completely fine. Since the only difference was the raw beef and the lukewarm broth, there is no doubt that the contamination came from their beef. Food safety is a non-negotiable standard. Serving improperly stored meat is incredibly dangerous. I am extremely disappointed as a returning customer and will NEVER order from here again. Avoid the raw beef Pho at all costs!
I think I messed up. I really wanted pho, but I didn't explore the menu pasted the first couple of pages. I wanted the spicy beef soup but I didn't care for what else was in it. So my dumb safe self ordered the won ton min. Asked if it could be spicy and the man said yes, but it came out regular. Ok, then my dumb self realized why one of my friends put siracha in his pho. And that's what I did and it was perfect! However, I should've looked through the menu more because the other customers coming in were ordering pho and I feel like I really missed out. Service was cordial but not overly friendly. I will have to come back and try the pho next time.
Heavy congested self craving for comfort soup and the excellent YELP reviews brought me to Pho Que Huong. Once I entered their doors I was reminded I had already been once before, led by Terry K and in good company of a bunch of other yelpers..! Food is still consistent and of good quality. The combination pho the other day really hit the spot. Location is convenient when I am doing my shopping in Chinatown. Situated on Maunakea St, there are metered street parking spots as well as multiple lots surrounding the area. I even noticed a side door leading in from one of those municipal lots!
It's been raining so much all week wanted was a hot bowl of noodles. Cravings satisfied! My husband ordered the Bun Bo Hue and I got a large combination pho. The soup was flavorful and we loved all the extra veggies and condiments. The only feedback we had was the soup wasn't hot on the Bun Bo Hue, it was warm but my husband likes it HOT. Also the tendon and pork hock was a little tough to chew. Overall still a great experience and we enjoyed the authenticity.
Solid Vietnamese restaurant one of my Go Tos to satisfy my Pho cravings. They have Med, Large and XL sizes! They have a pretty extensive menu so theres something for everyone. Service is efficient and they have a lot of seating so you rarely need to wait and they can accommodate larger parties. Parking is meter on the street and other public parking lots throughout Chinatown. Its usually busy for lunch and dinner convenient location on Maunakea street.
I have been going to Lam's kitchen for a long time. We had planned to go there again, but then I heard they were remodeling. Phở Quê Hương was suggested since it was right next door. OK! I love Pho! Ordering was SUPER EASY - the lady came by, and I was seriously impressed that she did not write anything down. Look, we only ordered 2 pho and their chicken with fish sauce but still..... we both ordered combination pho with different choices. I ordered a large and my friend ordered the regular. The pho came really fast YAY!!!!!! The server mumbled something about brisket - which I ordered and I said YES and he passed me the bowl. I was ready to eat when my friend said, "hey, check your bowl because I ordered tripe". I looked and YEP a curly piece of tripe was staring me in the face. OK no problem. We traded bowls. We were both eating and enjoying our pho. BTW it came with lots of sprouts and basil, lemon, the usual. The pho was DELICIOUS! I was enjoying and enjoying and then.... what? Both bowls had tripe. Both bowls had various pieces of unknown meat. We couldn't tell which bowl was the large.... So, yes it was impressive that she didn't write anything down; that's because they put in anything they wanted to! What the ????? hahahahaha Was it good? YES. Was it worth the price? YES. Would be 5 stars but I need to dock one star because.... please, give us what we ordered not what you want to give us. BTW the chicken with fish sauce was really good!
Super tasty food, we're introducing new people to this restaurant every other week lol! The newbie picked won tun??? And the soup was delish! Returnees tried the appetizers: the Lup cheong/egg roll, (envision a summer wrap with different ingredients), and I ordered the bbq chicken summer roll. Alas, they brought the grilled pork version instead of the chicken, and were apologetically going to take it back. (Being a nice guest, I said I'm sure it's good like everything else you serve, but if I don't like it, can I get my original order?). Of course I thought it was tasty, so of course I ate the whole thing;)! We all ordered dessert-one ordered the coconut jello jelly cup and the rest of us had to try the three bean dessert. All were refreshing, and the three bean is filling, so plan accordingly;). Not sure why they add the ice at the top, I think I would have enjoyed it more if it were topped with shaved ice instead of ice chunks. Designed to be mixed, the blend of ingredients makes a very picturesque cup (quite the beautiful floral landscape)! Love the service and food here so we'll be sure to return to try more dishes!
Pho Que Huang never disappoints! My 2nd visit to this Chinatown treasure in downtown Honolulu. Best pho I ever had! You can choose the size of your bowl, medium all the way to XL! You can choose from chicken, to steak, brisket, tendons or if you're vegan, opt for Tofu and Vegetable pho which my friend got. They give you a generous portion of bean sprouts, lemon, jalapeño slices, Thai basil and use hoisin sauce and Thai chili or garlic oil to spice it up a bit! I always add black pepper too for the extra kick for my sinus. The crispy spring rolls is a must. Roll it in fresh lettuce, pickled carrot and daikon and mint and dip in the Thai chili sauce! I got Freshly squeezed orange juice and for dessert, I got my yummy coconut jello molded as a rose and my friends enjoyed the tapioca and flan! All the staff is family and you know it's good when you run into die hard local support! Never disappoints if you're looking for great pho on Oahu!
Clean with an extensive menu. Just got done with a procedure at Kuikani so can't be too adventurous with what I order, but planning to come back for the goat hotpot. Service was simple and to the point, like most Chinatown joints. The combo and oxtail phos had good flavor, just the oxtail could've used some more time. It was a bit tough. read more
I wanted to stop here because it's become popular amongst foodies on social media. I wasn't actually too pleased with the pho it tasted pretty basic in my opinion it wasn't a "wow" i would come back and try this again kind of broth. It tasted kind of watered down the meatball was a little hard and the pieces of tendon weren't cooked till soft so they were really chewy and i eat pho religiously (1-2 times a week) yum yum pho or pho vietnam is usually my go to. but anyways this place was mediocre not sure if i would go back but it was good to try at least once. read more
Thanks to my lunch buddy for reminding of this place. Pho Que Huong has been my to go place for Vietnamese food. Their pho is always good, but you have to try their Vietnamese crepe that's loaded with shrimp, pork belly and mung bean. Their spicy beef noodle soup is also good and has the right vegetable toppings. I usually get this with pho noddles. Service is ok as well as the ambiance. Place was busy but they welcomed us with water and menu in hand. We ordered summer rolls and 2 bowl of pho. Within a few minutes the pho arrived with a dish full of vegetables. Half way through, the summer rolls arrived. LOL, I don't know why Vietnamese restaurants call it appetizers when the item always arrives after the main course. Ambiance was typical, loud, noisy and you smell like what you ate after you leave. Overall a good visit at a pho place. read more

This is my friends FAVORITE pho spot and after some drinking, you know pho is always necessary. We came here in the afternoon and they have a designated parking garage that you can park in. It was so busy, every single table full but we were still serviced immediately. I got the rare steak pho in medium and their portions are huge with lots of meat! The broth is super good alone so that's always a plus. I wish I lived closer because this place is probably one of the top pho places I've eaten at! read more

I love Pho and I'm glad I come to this Vietnamese restaurant. Food and service are good, and portion is also pretty big. I start with Pho Cuon rolls, it is ok but I like Nem Nuong Cuon better. For main I have Pho Suon Bo and it supposed to be a meal for 2. Soup is very nice and short ribs is soft and delicious. I'm so surprise that they have flan in the menu, and I like it a lot. If you like Vietnamese food, this place is the real deal. read more
This place gets busy! We thought we'd show up a little earlier than the lunch rush, 11:30am, but that is the lunch rush! Took us about 10 minutes to get a table, which is not bad considering there were 4 of us. Our order was taken quickly since we used our wait time to peruse the menu and select what we were eating. We ended up ordering the pan fried pho with beef, pan fried pho with seafood, Bún Chả Giò Thịt/Gà Nướng (vermicelli w/pork and spring roll), and a vegan fried vermicelli with tofu. TASTY!! Food had great flavor and was just the right spice for my coworkers. Obviously I needed to add a lot more chili but itsnot perfect unless it's burning your insides! Servings were large and we all had leftovers. Our service was okay, we only had to ask for water refills once. There is a dessert menu but we didn't have enough time or space to do dessert. Definitely next time! If you like Vietnamese food, you'll enjoy Pho Que Huong! read more
I LOVE THIS PLACE... I eat here a few times a month - well of course I do because I love their food and drinks!! I don't know Vietnamese food in Hawaii always seems so fresh! Here is definitely fresh and yummy!! They have such a wide variety of items to eat. I have been trying to eat different things when I come here ok everybody loves Pho - there is always a table with people enjoying Pho. I will admit I do eat raw beef salad once a month! It is a must try!! Their chicken wings are always tasty, their vermicelli bowls are filled with fresh veggies, noodles and protein of your choice. I tried 2 beef and chicken sooooo good! Their Bahn Mi sandwiches is good for a quick eat! I can't comment on parking because I walk here. The restaurant is always clean! Oh even the restroom! The service is excellent! They always friendly and it's not cause I am a regular they just genuinely nice I will warn you their food is so good - they are always busy around lunch time from 11-2 M-F not sure about weekend or evening I am telling you this is a bucket list restaurant in downtown Honolulu! This is the best spot to get authentic Vietnamese food. The one thing that sucks is the parking but I don't mind because the food is that amazing. The service is always quick and attentive. I've had the best bahn mi here and I've had some great ones before. The bun bo hue is full of flavor and they give you a side of shrimp paste to give it that extra twang! Our office ordered a group order as two people in my office said this place was the best. With all the rain this week, I was definitely craving some soup and was looking forward to this. I was impressed by the amount they gave, which made the price worth it. Lots of thai basil, culantro, and bean sprouts. I liked the amount of meat they gave. Lots of tripe, tendon, and meat. It was enough for 2 meals! The broth had a good flavor and the noodles were cooked well. I will definitely be back again next time i'm craving pho! read more

Quick service and yummy pho. It was my first time here and the pho was delicious. Very tasty broth and good meats. Located in China town, parking is minimal but they are easy to find next to all of the lei shops. The special shortrib pho was so tasty and also the dessert Che! I ordered the Pho Tai Nam and enjoyed it. The broth was very flavorful, the meat was good quality and probably the most amount of meat I've ever had in a bowl of pho at a restaurant. The serving size was plenty for a full meal. The service was very quick and friendly. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and has plenty of indoor seating. I came on a weeknight after 7pm, so street parking was free and easy to find. read more

One of my favorite Pho places on the island. You know that you came to the right place for pho when the place is constantly packed and most of their customers are Vietnamese. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Their menu is extensive and authentic, and I'm yet to try everything on their menu. My go to is the steak pho and their summer roll. Their broth is very flavorful and their summer rolls are very full and thick. I understand that the servers are super busy, but I think they could do better on their service. Overall this place is delicious, and I love coming here when I'm in Chinatown! read more

Phở Quê Hương1160 Maunakea Street. Appetizers: Grilled beef wrapped in wild betel leaf $30 wrap this in the softened rice paper with rice noodles, cucumber, basil and dip in fish sauce. This dish only has eight pieces of the wrapped beef. I could not taste the seasoning of the ground beef wrapped in the betel leaf. We had pre-ordered this dish because sometimes they run out. Rare beef salad $19 the thinly sliced beef is quite soft and tender. The salad dressing is quite good, which made this dish pop. Vietnamese grilled mussels $22 the size of the mussels were pretty good. Tamarind chicken wings $13 I didn't quite taste the tamarind on the chicken, but the wings were juicy and meat tender. Entrees: Special combo rice $19 includes broken rice, pork chop, shredded pork, shrimp paste wrapped in bean curd, an egg and romaine lettuce salad with fish sauce. Unfortunately, I didnt realize until after we left the restaurant that the dish came without a piece of meat loaf as was described on the menu. Very disappointed . Combo pho large $17 a popular pho dish. Spicy beef noodle soup $17 búnbòhuế many customers love this spicy noodle dish. Rice vermicelli $16 includes a spring roll and pork patties (nem nướng). Drinks: Vietnamese capuchino $6 was a very strong tasting coffee. Durian smoothie $9 had a mild durian taste. Dishes came out quickly. However, after that, no one came to check on us or refill our waters. Our wait help disappeared and we had to flag someone to pay our bill. Restaurant during this afternoon was not fully occupied. Overall, food was okay. The restaurant is the typical asian restaurant where Vietnamese and Chinese languages are spoken. Street parking or municipal parking available. read more

So many people recommended this restaurant when I was craving Vietnamese food when I was visiting Hawaii. Luckily, this is one of the spot my family chose to eat one day! It's located next to Lam's Kitchen on Maunakea St in Chinatown. There's paid street parking (free after 6pm) around the area which would be very difficult to find during morning, lunch, and dinner hours. You may have to park a couple blocks down to find a spot. I actually love the variety of noodle soup choices this restaurant offered because I don't really see much places around Hawaii as I was growing up. But I've noticed a lot of restaurants now offer these now which is amazing! I asked the server if he personally liked the Bun Bo Hue or Bun Rieu, and he said the former. I got their BBH and honestly really liked it! The broth wasn't as deep of a flavor but still a very nice spicy-ish pork broth that was very good. I never got tired of the broth as I continued eating it throughout my meal. There was also a TON of protein which was a huge plus. This was my mom's very first time trying BBH, and she really enjoyed it. I also got a Vietnamese coffee which was a really good pick me up the following day. I tried my cousin's combination pho and thought the pho broth was quite salty. It wasn't as hearty compared to the BBH. I didn't care for it - which means that I can try the other noodle soups next time instead of sticking to pho! My family also ordered their Green Papaya Salad with Shrimp and Pork, Chicken Feet Salad, Pork Banh Mi, Haianese Chicken, and Grilled Pork Patty Rolls (nem nuong). The papaya salad and chicken feet salad were sooooo good. Sooo much flavor and super refreshing. The chicken feet were especially good with the fish sauce. I personally prefer the cold chicken feet over the red chicken feet at dim sum places in Chinese cuisine. I don't generally see Vietnamese places with this so this was a pleasant surprise. The grilled pork roll was really good (something you can't find anywhere else). Honestly, really good restaurant with a lot of Vietnamese varieties that you can find in OC and don't ever see in Hawaii Vietnamese restaurants. The Haianese chicken was one of the popular dishes here. It was good, but it didn't really impress me as much as the other dishes. I'm kind of bias as I preferred the Singaporean way of how it's made. The banh mi was HUGE and looked stacked with fillings. I didn't get to try it as I had a ton of food. Overall, lots of different food options which were all delicious. I can see why this was highly recommended! Definitely would come back here in the future for more of their other dishes! read more

Tried their periwinkle soup noodle #70 the first time and it's delicious - a light and slightly sweet broth. The pork's blood cake they used was the smoothest I've tried for a long time outside of Asia! It wasn't the normal hard and grainy texture - amazing! I've been here so many times and every time the food was good. With so many choices on the menu, it's hard to not find what you like for everyone at the table. The service was straightforward and prompt. Sometimes there are people waiting outside, so it's good to be mindful about how much time spent at the table as well. Service good! Food good! I love noodle soups! So, had to come visit pho Que Huong while in Honolulu. Have to drive off Waikiki, but it's worth it! It's not too far neither. Bun Rieu is yummy! I like my food a bit more spicy so I added the chili oil in my soup. They provided a good amount of proteins, noodles, and herbs/veggies. Please go check them out. Pho Que Huong did not disappoint. The vibe is classic Chinatown, with no-frills décor and restaurant is spacious. We did a take out order so can't comment on the dining service but they were very friendly and efficient which made picking up a breeze. As for the pho, I went with the traditional beef pho dac biet (A): The broth had that deep, rich flavor you crave and expect of an authentic pho broth. It also came with generous portions of sliced beef, brisket, meatballs, and tripe. Can't complain about that! The fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and lime added that depth of flavor, and I couldn't get enough of the broth with every slurp. Definitely a great place if you're in the mood for some authentic, no-nonsense pho in Chinatown! Would come back anytime for a quick fix for my pho cravings. read more
Two co-workers and I had to traipse around downtown Honolulu to find a place not affected by the power outage (June 13); one with open tables. We ended up on Maunakea Street at Pho Que Huong, adjacent to Lam's Kitchen. This place has arguably the best pho in town. It was packed with diners, but we scored the last open table. They have a new menu and we all ordered #54: Bun Cha Gio - Heo / Ga Nu'ong, AKA cold vermicelli with spring rolls, grilled pork, and assorted vegetables (chopped lettuce, cucumber, mint leaves, bean sprouts, pickled carrots / daikon), topped with chopped peanuts and served with a dish of fish sauce. We order this dish at other Vietnamese restaurants and this one is excellent. There is the appropriate amount of noodles and toppings. One must mix it all together, much like one would with bibimbap noodles then pour on as much fish sauce as desired. This is a very refreshing dish; great on a hot day. $16 for a delicious lunch is a value in today's climate. Hah, when we left, there were twenty people standing outside waiting for a table. Overall a fantastic meal. We ordered the pho dac biet, bun rieu, BBH, chicken wings with fish sauce, pork spring rolls, and durian smoothie. Everything had great flavor, from the chicken wings to the noodles. The pho dac biet and bun rieu were great. Unfortunately, the noodles in the BBH were very undercooked to the point where they were still hard, which made the meal difficult to eat. The pork spring rolls were also tasty, though the pork was a bit salty. The durian smooth was huge and had great durian flavor. read more
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Honolulu, thanks to my sister who now lives here. We're from Southern CA so we've been spoiled with great access to amazing Vietnamese food and this is our go-to spot in Oahu. You'll find an extensive menu of noodles from the classic PHO to BUN BO HUE and PHNOM PENH as well as rice dishes, appetizers, and vermicelli. Fun fact is that there is a SECRET MENU on the weekends. If you are craving BANH CUON, ask the waitress. IYKYK! There is a paid parking lot located on the corner of that street. read more

Awesome spot for Vietnamese food. They have a large menu offering a lot of different dishes outside of the typical pho, vermicelli bowls, or rice plates. Service is fast and food arrives quick. Love the grilled meat options i.e. chao tom, heo nuong. read more

How hard is it to find parking here?
It depends on what time you're going. There is a public parking spot nearby and there is parking in front of the restaurant. All paid parking spots and it's for an hour. It's hit or miss really.
