I love pho. I haven't found any pho place that I haven't liked. I kept going back and forth on giving this place 3 or 4 stars but I had to settle with 3 and here's why: Pros: Parking- it's not easy finding parking in Philly and they have an awesome huge parking lot in front of this strip mall. Pho broth- duh, delicious as usual. can't go wrong really! Cons: honestly, pho is cheap everywhere but I've found cheaper for the portions they gave. Spring rolls were bland and the peanut sauce they give with the spring rolls tasted weird. Waiters uncomfortably hit on my table of 4 girls...constantly. New York City used to have good Vietnamese food... however, in recent years I have been disappointed every time i get my hopes up... Last weekend I visited some friend in Philly, and they drove us around and took us here for lunch. DAMN this is what Vietnamese food should taste like! Ingredients are extremely fresh, the pork was tender and juicy, the noodles were perfectly cooked, portions are generous (enough for dinner later!), and the price is right! Pho Saigon is one of the best places for pho in Philly. It isn't entirely out of the way, since it's really just off the Columbus exit on Interstate 95. I often come here with my dad and brother, and a bunch of my friends also come as well! The place is of decent size, and you can see the whole restaurant upon entering the store. Hosting organization is pretty lack, but they'll get you seated as fast as they could. Food Every time I come, there are 3-4 menu items I always get. First, I always grab a bowl of pho of some sort. I usually grab the one with rare steak, well-done flank, and tripe. When eating pho, one of the most important part of the dish is the broth, and Pho Saigon delivers. In most places, the broth tends to be tasteless, but the broth here is one of the tastiest I've ever tried. There are tons of herbs in there as well. Second, I'd get the BBQ pork roll appetizer. It's like the fresh shrimp rolls because it's made with fresh rice wrapper and vermicelli noodles, but instead of shrimp, there are BBQ pork slices inside, which makes it amazing. Third, I often grab the Bánh cuon. It is rice noodles with minced meat inside, and side of pork with fried onions sprinkled on top. Definitely a must try, but a word of advice: it's ONLY offered during the weekends. Lastly, I grab the Vietnamese coffee since I love Vietnamese coffee. There's usually a bunch of ice in it, though. I've had their rice and vermicelli before as well, but they are just average. Their friend spring rolls are really good too! They are sometimes too oily though, but that really applies almost everywhere... Service Very fast. Most of the servers are very friendly and very talkative as well, but there are some that don't really talk other than taking your order. There aren't assigned servers, and they just roam around or wait until they are called. The food also comes out quickly. It's unlike the traditional American restaurant in the sense that whatever is finished will be brought out. So appetizers won't always come out first and faster meals would come out before the dishes that take longer to make. They don't give you a paper check too, rather you'll go up to the counter to pay.If you order to go while eating, it will be up there waiting for you as well. This place is pretty good. I've been here 5 or 6 times now and have had a good experience each time. I usually get the pork chop with broken rice and a side of broth, which is great! I've been here only once. After our IKEA trip down in delaware ave, I was craving some Vietnamese. On our way to our usual spots on Washington ave, we saw this place on the corner of delaware and washington. We decided to give it a try for convenience sake. I got pho with flank (chewy, well-done, fatty), tendon, tripes (somewhat of my usual) and my wife bun bo hue. Both dishes came with a lot more meat than other places I've been to. It seemed like there was almost more meat than noodles. The broth was good for both dishes. Bun Bo Hue didn't come with any blood cakes, which could be seen as non-authentic to some folks. The bun bo hue could've been slightly spicier but it's easy to remedy that with a bit of chilly paste. Pho broth also required a bit of help from the chilly paste, but still pretty good. Small-size portions are great. But don't expect a lot of variety like Nam Phuong or Vietnamese sandwiches. The menu is somewhat limited. read more

The parking lot and the clean, high ceiling dining room make this place a clear favorite for my pho fix. The broken rice dishes were good as well. Vietnamese coffee is the cherry on top. Since Pho Saigon has become my favorite, go to pho place since my last review, I thought it was time for an update! The service here is still really casual, and even a bit rushed during peak hours (think Sunday afternoons), but they are generally helpful and attentive. They always return right away with extra limes when I ask for them. I just dislike it when a waiter hands me a steaming bowl of pho from across the table, instead of walking around to set it in front of me. (I start crying when the water I wash my dishes with gets a little too hot, so I don't think I'd be able to handle a hot, heavy bowl of soup). Their pho is glorious. Compared to every other pho place that I've ever been to, Pho Saigon is the most consistent. Not once have I ever disliked the quality of the noodles, the meat, or the broth. We all have that special food that we will go out of our way to eat and try no matter where we are because it's familiar and we always want to see how it compares to our favorite. Pho is that food for me. Pho Saigon has shown me another angle in which to view pho as an international dish which has become a great food phenom for all sorts of races and cultures. As far as pho houses are concerned, I usually order the same type of item because it makes it easy to compare and it has all the tasty bits that others tend to shy away from. The house special, the deluxe, the 'everything' normally consists of tripe, brisket, raw flank steak, tendon (either crunchy or fatty), and beef meatballs topping off a healthy portion of noodles, cilantro and slice onion. Throw in some thai basil, some sprouts (if I'm feeling healthy) and a 5 second squirt of sriracha and I'm in business. Compared to my normal bowl of deliciousness, i think that Pho Saigon's broth leans towards the spicier side of the spectrum. Not heat spice, but star anise, cinnamon and ginger spiced. It's very delicious and as with most places served quickly and always hot. The summer rolls are delicious (a bit noodle heavy IMO) but the sauce served with it is superb. If you're in the area and looking for a quick, hot bowl of pho, stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

The place usually fills up by noon time with a long wait. So get there early if you don't want to wait. Service is spotty, somehow they seem to forget you after they gave you the menu and tea. Twice now we have to get their attention before someone stop by to take our orders. But if you let the service put you off, then you miss out on some good pho. The chicken pho is very good. I always have the dark meat with skin on which is much more flavorful than the white meat. The ben bo hue is excellent, not too spicy but enough to make you sweat a little. Big chunk of pigs feet! The mix beef pho was also very good with lots of meat and flavorful broth. After a bowl of that yummy pho, you can go shopping at the mall or better yet go home and take a nap. So torn....I live in Chinatown and travel 2 miles to visit Pho Saigon. I absolutely love this place, the service is incredibly fast and everything that we have tried on the menu is fantastic! It is clean inside with a decent amount of seating and can accommodate a larger group as well. The Pho is definitely the best that I have had in this area so far (been living in Chinatown for 2 years so that says something). The servings are the largest around which means I get at least 2 meals out of it....and how can that ever be bad. I didn't know I was getting sub-par meat in my pho until I came here and tasted how it's supposed to be. Now I'm spoiled. Definitely in my top 3 pho destinations. Why? Tons of meat, noodles, and fixings, to the point that you have to be really careful not to spill as you mix up your perfect bowl. Fresh, flavorful ingredients that leave you at or near food nirvana when you finally stop inhaling whatever's in front of you. Quick, pleasant service and great prices. I came to Pho Saigon with my family the other day and I thought it was pretty good. The ambiance is more fancier than your typical Pho restaurant. The host was quick to show us our table, and the waiter was quick to take our orders. I ordered the spring rolls, pho tai, and a pineapple smoothie with tapioca. I did not like their spring rolls at all. The rolls were stuffed with 98% vegetables, and the remaining were the meat portions. The pho, however, was quite delicious. It was hot and fresh, and they gave a generous portion of meat. Their pineapple smoothie was great since there was an absence of condense milk and it was lightly sweetened. The tapiocas were soft, fresh and chewy! The great thing about coming to Pho Saigon is the parking convenience. There's less frustration trying to find parking as opposed to going to Nam Phuong or Pho Hoa. Overall, good service and good food minus the spring rolls. read more

This place is where I always go for consistently good pho, rice plates, eggrolls and vermicelli bowls. It's quick in, quick out and gets the job done. Alot of this is also due to the free and easy parking in the ample lot. Unlike going up the street to the cluster of restaurants on Washington Avenue, I don't have a heart attack trying to get into and out of a teeny parking space, or roadblocked by an idle car, that is blocked by a delivery truck, that is blocked by the endless stream of people leaving the shops and restaurants who then dart dangerously in between road raged drivers in the overly crammed parking lot. I swear I spend more time in the parking lot than in the actual restaurant eating. For all the above reasons this is my go to for pho. read more

I havent had Pho in quite a long time so I decided to have a bowl the other day. I've been here a twice since its opened and never failed to disappoint, except this time. The pho ga, is what I got and was disappointed. The broth was great! The noodles on the other hand turned to mush. The chicken in the pho was good. I didnt return it for I dont do that unless its really really bad. I also got the summer rolls, they were good, the sauce wasnt. I ended up using the hoisin sauce that is on the table. The cousin that was with me ordered the pork chop rice dish. Look good, smelled good, tasted good. No have complaints about that. Only disappointment was that they dont have beef wrapped in grape leaves lol. This place is ok, not the best not the worst. I would still eat here though. Happy Eatings!! read more

Well, because I had actually been here before and ordered their vermicelli dish (and my friend had a rice dish). We were both underwhelmed. I've wanted to come to this location for two years. I love Pho and I could not wait to taste how this location stacks up to the other Vietnamese restaurants on nearby Washington Ave. I was not disappointed. Once I walked in, I noticed that this is the nicest location that I have ever eaten pho. Yes, this store is located in a strip mall, but the decor is nice. After placing my order, the pho came out five minutes later, piping hot, and in the huge bowl that is typical of pho restaurants. The broth of the pho was delicious! There was ample amount of beef and noodles. I also ordered a French iced coffee with condensed milk. The coffee was okay, but I've had better. I was impressed with the wait staff. Our server was excellent. He even took time out to make small conversation. I would be remiss if I did not mention that this store is in a strip mall with FREE parking. So... I wanted to love this place because my fellow Pho-enthusiastic Yelper Vy D raved about it. Perhaps I should have just stuck with regular Pho and would have had the same amazing experience. But they had Hu Thie Nam Vang on the menu, which is my favorite Vietnamese soup and it's hard to come by at most places. So I went for that. It was just OK. I will say that the noodles are just as Vy said ... fresh, tender and not too soft and plenty of them. There was also an abundance of pork, but it was both tough and dry. The broth was flavorful, but nothing tops this same dish at the place which bears its name in the northeast, Nam Vang restaurant, in the Adams Ave/Rising Sun plaza. The ultra disappointment ... the iced coffee :( Had to throw it out in the trash in the parking lot. Took myself down to my "go-to" Viet iced coffee spot, Pho Viet Huong, in the plaza at 11th and Washington. They make it strong, with plenty of ice and just the right amount of condensed milk. My first time eating pho and I LOVED IT. The prices are excellent, and the food comes out rather quickly. Paired with their table tea, it was a great Saturday brunch. The one thing was that I asked for no tripe in my pho,but they left that and other parts that I didn't want to eat. No biggie, I just skipped out on those pieces. The small pho is mislabeled- its pretty huge ( even for my normal sized guy friends who were with me and eat more than I do). Trying to finish the entire bowl would be a feat. But for a chilly afternoon, this was pefecto. Their shakes are awesome too and taste pretty phresh ( see what I did there?); again size is so misleading, because you think the shake is normal sized, but its very thick and takes a while to get through. ehhhhhh. went with my roomie for dinner around 6PM. the place was pretty busy, but not packed. my roommate and i shared and order of spring rolls. and i ordered the pho #60. the spring rolls were dry...like they were out for a long time. the ends were...no good. I just kinda ended up eating from one end, ate the middle, and just left the other end. my roommate said she had them before and they were not like this. shame. the pho was okay. the soup was good but the noodle almost seemed over cooked. I like extra limes in my pho, but the limes were dry so i had to use like 5-6 of those tiny things to get the flavor i wanted. one good thing i noticed was that they do not water down the hoisen sauce like other pho restaurants. the sauce is very thick. read more

Dined here twice so far. Got a standard grilled pork rice dish. Pretty good, I think I still prefer Nam Phoungs. On my latest trip here I decided to try the pho. I ordered a large with raw eye of round on the side, they brought out a small, no big deal it still filled me up. The broth tasted a little bland and came out hot, not boiling hot like how Pho should be served regardless of how hot it is outside. As soon as I added the bean sprouts, herbs and beef, the broth cooled considerably. Definitely wont be ordering pho here again. ill stick with Pho Ha read more

I really like the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very pleasant and uplifting. The bowl of noodles was good but I found the soup to be a bit more salty then the other ones I've tried. I ordered the mi bo kho however it didnt have carrots in it which is what most if not all restaurants have it in the soup. Kinda disappointed. They also come in small or large which is very disappointing because I ordered the small which cam with really little noodles. I think in every pho restaurant there should be ONE standard bowl size. read more

I'm in LOVE with their steak pho, it is phenomenal!!!! I love the portion size they give you enough to fill you up. They are very generous with the veggies which is awesome. I think this is the best pho I have had so far. I love the consistency of the flavor. It's not greasy. The first time I ordered a bowl of pho I ordered a large and it kicked my ass because I was not able to finish it. Thats after having a spring roll! They are delicious aswell. The service the not the best. Best pho ever!! It has so much flavor! And the food comes out so fast! Veggies are fresh also and there is so much too choose from!

Food isn't bad, but don't bother going after 8 pm. It says they're open until 9, but the seem to close whenever they feel like it.

This is easily the cleanest pho place I have ever been in. And I mean clean all the way- the dining room, bathrooms, and the way the pho tasted! Pho Saigon achieves the perfect balance of salty goodness in their broth. After eating I did not feel bloated at all, which is rare for me after eating pho. The broth had a clean, pure taste to it- really let the natural flavor come through. The meat was high quality and sliced nice and thin, it was definitely rib-eye, not the flank other places try to pass off in the Pho Tai. I also ordered the iced coffee with condensed milk. It was delectable and gave me the caffeine boost I needed for the night! This place is close to my house, and it may become my new favorite pho place. Hopefully it stays as nice and clean as it is now, because that is a big draw. read more

Pho was good, nothing amazing, but good, solid pho. The bean sprout/basil plate had an additional thing on it, long flat leaves. Sawgrass? It was good in the soup. Could use more lime slices, though. The spring rolls were mushy on the inside, but tasted ok. Decent place, clean, spartan decor, the lights could have been not so bright. read more

However, a few weeks ago, I found a rock, the size of a nickel, in my fried spring roll. The cashier refunded my order but the rock should not have been in my food.
