My friend was feeling a little under the weather and thought eating noodle soup would help. My friend hadn't had vietnamese food in months, so we decided to come here to eat I ordered a small bowl of Pho and my friend got Bun Bo Hue (Hue's beef noodle soup). Our dishes came out within a few minutes. Very fast service. I thought their pho was good. There's an ample amount of meat. My friend thought the Bun bo hue was good. However, was disappointed that it didn't comes with congealed pig's blood! (It does sound nasty and gross, but i heard it's good?!?!) Overall, the place is good. They have good broken rice dishes for those who don't like noodle soup. Also, this is a good place to go to on the weekend if you want Vietnamese food. Plenty of parking. Not like those Vietnamese restaurant on Washington street. It does not really step outside of the realms of the run of the mill vietnemese restaurants; however, you will get quick service with high quality food at an affordable price. The FAPS Breakdown: Food Quality - The food was pretty spectacular for the price. I ordered the Com Tam Thit Nuong Dac Biet (Broken Rice Combo: Charbroiled Pork, Shredded Pork, Egg Quiche & Omele) and my buddy got the same thing but the pork chop. Both were excellent. The pork was well seasoned and grilled and had a lot of flavor. The egg quiche had some vermicelli noodles in the inside which gave it a weird look, but it was pretty bomb. The "omelet" is just a fried egg over the rice, great side but dont expect a mom and pops ole fashioned omelet at this vietnemese restaurant.... you should probably go to a diner for that. Ambiance - Big open space great for casual lunch/dinner with a small or big group. The restaurant is a little out of the way from the main hussle and bussle of philadelphia. Its located at a strip mall by the water front so you will have easy parking. There are usually a decent amount of people here although I wouldnt expect a line. Price - $-$$ seemed appropriate for this restaurant. Had some solid entrees at a good price and we were pleasantly surprised by the great price for the food. Service - Classic Vietnamese restaurant, they wont spend any time for idle chit chat, youre here to eat and they are there to help you accomplish that goal. Just had lunch at Pho Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant At 1100 Christopher Columbus Blvd. in Philly. Wow! Really righteous Pho. Giant Summer rolls great peanut dipping sauce. Unfortunately, their Vietnamese coffee is like pre-made....Unlike a tall glass with Sweetened condensed milk and ice with a mini coffee strainer resting on top slowly dripping into the glass as you eat your meal. Literally the best tasting pho in Philly, possibly the world. The broth in the pho is just so flavorful, and doesn't taste greasy/oily/MSG-ish as other places are. The noodles are always fresh, never frozen. The meat is fresh and also not frozen. This is my go to spot for pho. The appetizers and coffee are decent, (their iced coffee is not too sweet, which is good!), but it's their pho that shines! Tip: If you're getting pho tai (steak), ask for it with the steak meat on the side. You can throw the steak in yourself and cook it to your perfection in the broth! Just do it while the broth is piping hot! Bun Bo Hue is a favorite here for the wife. She loves it and highly recommends. Ask for satay sauce on the side for dipping action! read more

They didn't look at the ceiling while taking your order like most places around here. I dabbled between pho and rice while here and both were quite good. I used to hate pho until I came here. Throughout my first couple years of college, I was dragged to different pho places around the city. Then I finally came to this place, absolutely loved it, and never went anywhere else! Pho Saigon is also the go-to place to cure hangovers. I don't know how, but it always works. My general assumption is that any medium to large restaurant on Columbus is going to be in business simply due to location and sheer numbers, rather than good food. I will say I've been surprised once before but not nearly as much as by this place. After eating here for the fourth time, I decided it's finally time to write a review. First off, it's clean. Okay, okay, it's clean "appearing" and that's good enough for me. I worked in a few restaurants including a high end, thousand-dollar bill restaurant and a 4 star hotel restaurant so I know clean is a very charged word. However, as mentioned, it appeared clean. Floors were obviously cleaned regularly and our table wasn't simply brushed off by the waiter. Chopsticks seem to have gone through a sterilizer before being wrapped. More importantly, the food has always impressed my wife and me. From the ph to the broken rice dishes, we've always walked away smiling. If you're in the mood for a non-soup dish, I strongly suggest either one of the porkchop/charbroiled pork and broken rice combo dishes (don't forget the fantastic Vietnamese quiche). My wife recently decided to switch it up and get a shrimp and broken rice dish. Neither of us were disappointed. It was by far one of the best shrimp dishes I've tasted. Service is above par for similar establishments. Our waiter, despite not being the best at English, did check on us right after tasting the food to make sure it was okay. His colleagues often surreptitiously cleared empty plates and refilled waters. The atmosphere is generally welcoming. I've never been at a time when the place it packed to the brim, so I'm not sure if it ever gets that way, but it seems to be able to handle it. I've also never opted for dessert here (or at many restaurants) so I can't speak to that, but I can say that we'll continue to go back as long as we live in Philly. read more

How have I not written a review about Pho Saigon yet?! We only discovered Pho Saigon a few months ago, and have been back five or six times since. Pho Saigon has got this whole Pho thing down to a science. You walk in, and within 5-10 minutes (depending on how fast you order) you will be served a piping hot, ginormous bowl of pho. I'm not even kidding. It's that fast. Dave and I order the same thing every time, and I don't see changing this any time soon: The BBQ Pork Spring Rolls and a #69 Pho- Well Done Brisket with Rare Beef. The BBQ Pork Spring Rolls are so good and come with the most amazing peanut sauce. I could drink this stuff! Now onto the Pho- the #69 is the best. You order the rare beef on the side. It comes on a separate plate- raw. You put it into your soup just before you're going to eat it. The hot broth cooks the beef in a minute or two. WOW! Don't forget to drown your broth with the giant bottle of hoisin sauce and Sriracha. read more

Pretty good pho, and some of the other options are a bit atypical for Philadelphia Vietnamese restaurants. I haven't had a chance to explore a lot of their menu thus far. Pho ga is outstanding and one of the best I have had in Philly; chicken meat is very lean but filled with the juice from the soup. Broth is also quite good Regular pho is very good in terms of the broth; thicker broth than Pho 75, with more star anise(?) in the broth. Leads to a stronger flavor which is really nice on a winter day when it's snowing. The meat itself is a bit of a mixed bag; the basic eye round is quite good and is your normal pho meat, but the flank and brisket (including the lean versions) were still too fatty for my taste. Nice mix of veggies on the table, including culantro. Beef is layered, which is kind of neat if you like eye round on the rare side. The menu itself is fairly large, and the place is fairly clean with pretty good service. Can recommend, although not my absolute favorite. read more

The #34 or 35, whichever is the pork and shrimp noodle soup is amazingly flavorful! It is hands down a five star dish! The broth was packed with lots of garlic and shallot flavor, and even herbs. You could really eat it without even adding anything. I have never had a soup so flavorful just as it is sent to your table, adding absolutely nothing. I would go here for this soup over and over and over again! Yum! Service is super quick, menu is huge, and the place is clean. They also offer bubble tea and a wide range of other traditional Vietnamese sweet drinks. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I tasted my boyfriend's pho and the broth is much sweeter than normal, although flavorful. I think broths here tend to be a bit more on the sweeter side. This is my goto place for pho and vermicelli. It is located on Columbus and is one of the few places in the city with dedicated and free parking spots. The pho soup is clear, tasty and not overly salty. You can ask for some extra veggies and they bring it out quickly. My goto is the vermicilli bowl, a giant bowl of noodles with pork, egg roll, and some pickled veggies. Another bonus is that there is a beer store next door and since this is is BYOB, you can have a gourmet microbrew with your pho! read more

As of so far, I think that this has been my lowest rated bowl of pho. The interior design itself is your typical Vietnamese pho restaurant feel. The servers do the standard expected service. However, the quality of pho here, relatively in comparison to what I've had, is not all that great. The texture of the noodles was on the soft side and it seemed to have a sort of slimy coating on it. Most of the fat brisket in my bowl were tough and very difficult to chew. The broth was half decent but not clean tasting. Overall, I would definitely prefer to go to the many other pho options that are available around this area. Update: I tried their pork with rice and it was more noteworthy than I had expected. Thinly sliced so that it wouldn't be too tough to chew, it had a good balance of seasonings. It was grilled to just the right amount and complemented with the right amount of broken rice. Definitely more enjoyable than the first time around! read more

Typical Pho restaurant. Everything you would expect. My main issue with this restaurant is there are so many waiters with nothing to do. The venue isn't huge but they'll literally have 4-6 servers standing around (not even behind) the counter staring at customers. They're all very attentive and alert when someone needs service but it's so strange that so many servers are idling around with nothing to do. Is that even a complaint? I think I just want to enjoy a meal without 3 men hovering my table waiting for me to take a sip of water just so they can refill it immediately. read more

Did not enjoy food, drink or service (based on one visit only). Me and my husband tried this place for lunch and received prompt service. We chose this restaurant based on it being good parking and distance isnt far from our home. I'd start with the menu, it isn't huge by Vietnamese restaurant standards but decent. There was a full menu to choose from including apps, a selection of PHO, Rice Dishes, Vermicelli Bowls and Vietnamese banmi. We order one Pho noodle and an order of Grilled Pork Vermicelli Dish with chicken soup on side but they gave me beef soup. The Pho was just average with the amount of stuff and vegetables in it. The help while efficient wasn't friendly or helpful. The servers did not seem happy that we were there and didn't seem to be happy that we ordered their foods. Compared to Vietnamese restaurants in other cities this experience was sort of terrible. So we decided to tip them lower than minimum. The restaurant atmosphere was not bad but all of them just dont know how to smile or make people feel welcomed. AGAIN ! this is based on only one visit, so maybe we just came on a bad day! read more

Love this place. One old Philadelphian lady recommended it to us as the best Pho place in the neighborhood. I should say she is damn-right. The service is fast, if you regularly visit them, they remember your preferred choice. This makes me think they know their customers and value them. This is my go to place for pho. Their broth is very flavorful and they give a ton of noodles, greens, beans, jalapenos, basically anything that would make your pho "fuller". I don't like rare meat or meat with skin so I have trouble picking my protein but the broth makes up for it. Portion sizes are huge. They have plenty of seasonings, chilli oil and sriracha on the table to customize your meal. Don't expect too much from the service point of view but you do get your food very fast and for the price, that's all that matters. People who come here look like regulars. This place used to be my go-to! I've tried so many pho places in philly but after today I'm going to be taking my business to Pho Xe Lua over in Chinatown. I'll start with the service because it was honestly terrible and just bizarre. Our waiter wouldn't look at us while we were speaking, acknowledge anything we said, or write anything down. He forgot 2 out of 4 things we ordered, and didn't bring us any of the hot tea that usually comes out to every table. Then they have what seems like 8-10 employees just standing behind the counter and staring while we ate... super uncomfortable. Anyway, if a small guy with a ponytail tries to take your order, maybe ask for a different server. As for the food, the portions have most definitely gotten smaller regarding the pho, but the prices are still reasonable (for the food; it's over 5 dollars for almost all the drinks!) The broth didn't have much depth and tasted strangely sweet/overly spiced, maybe too much star anise. I will say the portion for the pork chops was good, and we were happier with that than the pho. The atmosphere is as I mentioned - uncomfortable. It was super cold, no music, just the sounds of an insanely loud coffee/tea/whatever machine behind the counter that sounds like a jackhammer. So good. I had the shrimp pho and the flavors were spot on. Like any good pho I was able to spice it up with some condiments and herb it up with some basil. The drinks include interest things like a durian shakes and pennywort tea. I had the rainbow ice which was a mung bean, condensed milk, Vietnamese jello and all kinds of other yum. A bowl of pho for $18? Yeah.. No way. That means if you walk in with a group of 5 people, the check would add up to almost $100! That excludes the tip, tax and drinks. On top of that, the menu outside still has the unrevised prices, so people are walking in thinking that you're pho is at a reasonable price, then to ultimately sit down and see a ridiculous price! Not only that, but the serving size is extremely small. If you're going to charge almost $20 for a bowl of pho, at least give people a decent amount of food so they don't feel like they are flushing their money down the drain. Our usual place for pho, pretty good pho and they give plenty of meats, pho, etc. We always order pho and spring rolls every visit. This time I decided to switch up and try the rice with grilled pork, patty, and fried egg. Well seasoned grilled pork and overall pretty good.
