I really wanted to like this place as they're really affordable and they have a parking lot which is great for Pacific Beach. I didn't eat there but I did sit down in their dining area while I waited for my order. There's a few tables and chairs and I would describe this place as "hole in the wall" kind of establishment. My to go order started off great, the spring rolls were so fresh and was perfect (5 stars for those), however the 2 banh mi sandwiches we got were the worst I've ever had-0 stars for those. We got 1 chicken and 1 pork... the bread was dry and the sandwich did not appear to contain any condiments- ie no mayo, no pate, literally nothing. It was so dry that I had to swallow each bite with a sip of drink. If you're only trying to order spring rolls- this is the place, if you want a banh mi- definitely go elsewhere. read more

I love this place, I go all the time, especially when the weather is cold or I am sick. It fixes everything. I love all of their phos, rice dishes, spring rolls are good, you can't go wrong. Today was the first time I places an online order, I wasn't feeling good so I didn't want to sit inside and eat, just wanted to take it home and lay in bed. But I ordered off the website attached to this yelp. When I got there they told me the site is fake and is ripping us and them off charging more and not paying the restaurant all the money, the site has been reported but somehow can't be removed from this yelp page. Came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was almost empty. Didn't matter, that pho broth was hitting. It's rich too. Prob the smallest bowl of pho I've eaten but it's packed and theyre not light with the tripe and tendons thank goodness. I upgraded to the large bowl and the price was still very reasonable. I'm unsure if they use beef or chicken broth in the chicken pho since my stomach started hurting immediately after eating. Pho So Muy Bien!!! By far the best Pho spot in Southern California. Nestled in Pacific Beach, pho sao bien offers delicious variety of pho options. My go to is the #11 steak and brisket. Bowls come in regular or large but regular is certainly enough. Add some chili, Jalapeño, mint leaves and you're on your way to a wonderful meal. Pho Sao Bien is a good solid stop for vietnamese food. I have been going for years and really like their soup stock. They give a generous amount of noodles and veggies on to go orders as well. My two small cons are the parking (Garnet is busy and their lot in front can be hard to get in and out of) and the packing for to go. Pho Sao Bien became my backup choice for an evening meal after the first spot I visited had decided to close their kitchen early because of low business... ugh. This place is quite a small Vietnamese eatery with only about six spaces in front for parking. The inside can seat maybe 30 customers. The menu had only four pages so it was much less than many other Vietnamese joints. I decided on a bowl of bun (rice vermicelli noodles) with chicken. The portion size was very good, but for some reason the noodles were overcooked. They were soggier than I had experienced elsewhere even without adding fish sauce. I couldn't quite finish everything so I took home the leftovers. I did like their late closing time for a weeknight. Overall, I gave Pho Sao Bien three stars for my dining experience. read more

Best beef broth in the city, I swear! I am so picky about the complexity of flavors, the right oiliness, the saltiness... this one hits all the bullseyes. Authentic perfection. I wanted to update my review to 5 stars This place has been open for a long time (15-20 years). It's stays open for a reason & deserves support!! For one thing, their Vietnamese egg rolls are some of the best in San Diego. Their vermicelli bowls are also really delicious, again some of the best in the city. The place is average size & laid out well with plenty of spaced out seating. The staff & owner are super friendly. The place has a cute vibe. The Pho game is fierce in SD but this place is a contender and worth checking out for sure! It will be easy on your wallet as well. Prices are very reasonable (Most entrees are $10 or less & 10x better than fast food.) The owner brings awesome authentic family recipes. Ultimately this place is definitely worth it, whenever I'm somewhat close to Pacific Beach I go. I highly recommend trying this place if you haven't before, get the egg rolls & the spring rolls.
