PadThai has the most delicious and closest to authentic Thai food in LA. They have the friendliest, most welcoming, and attentive customer service in LA. My family and I discovered this beautiful establishment in 2013 when they were first located near Hollywood. And when we found out they moved to Glendale, so did we. We are always on the hunt for new spicy meal serving restaurants. We had cravings for some Chicken Pad Thai which is my favorite Thai dish. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall joint but with comfortable seating and great service it's well worth a visit. While in Glendale, I had a craving for Thai food and this place was nearby and had decent reviews. When I arrived on a Sunday evening, I was surprised to find the place empty. I was seated quickly and proceeded to order a couple of things from their Thai/Chinese menu. I chose the Crab Rangoon Sticks and Pad See Ew with chicken. I rarely eat Crab Rangoons but several reviewers mentioned how good they were so I made an exception. The menu had two versions, wontons and sticks. I was told they were identical except for the shape so I chose the sticks since that was new to me. They arrived in lightning speed in a small wire basket. At first glance I was shocked at how skinny they were, like pale crispy cigarettes. They came with a clear-ish sweet dipping sauce. They were interesting, a bit on the chewy side, with a crispy exterior and a distinct cream cheese flavor but virtually no crab taste at all. I ended up adding Sambal to the dipping sauce to add a little spice and to cut the cloying sweetness. The Pad See Ew was run of the mill with nice wide noodles in a light brown sauce with fresh Chinese broccoli and sliced chicken breast. It had that distinct char flavor that I expect. My only complaint is that the slices of chicken breast were cut with the grain instead of against so they were a little tough. Overall it was an okay meal. Not great but not bad. I'll pass on the Crab Rangoon Sticks but I'd order the Pad See Ew again, perhaps with a different protein. read more

I've never thought to mix curry and udon before, but let me tell you, it is delicious! While mostly a take out place, you can eat in as well. Food was ok - we ordered our usual: Basil chicken - was good. Panang with chicken - was ok, a tad watery but flavors were ok; prik king was disappointing. It tasted one dimensional, but portion was generous. Service was - well perhaps she needed time to settle into a rhythm. This place has historically done a ton of take out orders. At around 8:20pm on a Saturday night we were the only two sit down customers. Somehow, the waitstaff we knew from before was so efficient - everything came at us super fast: drinks, plates, rice, food... this time we waited a tad longer than usual and two dishes came out, but no rice for another little while. Granted she was the only one there, and dealing with take out deliveries and walk in take out orders. She was friendly though. Anyway, we're a bit disappointed to lose our favorite Thai place. I spent $60 at this place and I was about to order more food but the server was being so rude I had to leave. The server took 25 min to get me water. Then the server said that the "free Thai tea for orders of $25 or more" was for online orders only. Like okay but I just drove here to spend $60 and you just made me wait for water so maybe you could apologize or bring me free Thai tea. Guess not. And then after trying a dish and not liking it, the server said he wouldn't take it off the bill because I didn't tell him fast enough...? I've been looking for a good Thai spot in the Glendale/Atwater area and I'm so glad I found this place! It's tucked away in a shopping center with plenty of parking, which is always a bonus in Los Angeles. The inside was casual, like a mom and pop shop. It had about 8 small tables. My partner and I started off with the crab rangoon sticks. They're like little crab spring rolls, and they were delicious. The sauce they came with paired really well. I ordered the special, their udon curry. It came out piping hot and absolutely amazing. I'm not usually a big udon fan, but the noodles in curry with cilantro and hard boiled eggs was the perfect combinations of flavors. I ordered mild and it had just a little kick in it. I ordered the pork with it. It was good, but it really didn't even need a meat. My partner ordered the yellow curry, which came with white rice. She said it was flavorful and creamy. She also got mild and hers didn't have any spiciness, which is how she prefers. Flavor-wise, everything hit just right. The service was great. Our server was attentive but not hovering. We'll definitely be back soon to try the other curries and noodles, but it's going to be hard not ordering that udon curry every time I go. So so good! read more
