Not what it used to be! We used to love this spot years ago for a casual dinner in Burbank. We decided to come for dinner yesterday to see if it was still the same. Upon arrival we noticed a busy server that seemed to be by herself. We were asked to seat ourselves wherever was open. We sat by the window at a table that wasn't properly wiped down and seats full of crumbs. While waiting for our order we were getting attacked by gnats. Service is average (because of it being short staffed which I totally understand) and cleanliness seems to be last on their list. They also don't have fountain drinks and soda comes in bottles. The coke I ordered was flat lol. Thank you to whoever removed that from our bill. Overall, food is decent and definitely not as good as it used to be.

Pho lunch with the hubby!

Pho is a great dish to eat at any time of the day. To me, the most important part of the dish is the quality of the broth. If the broth doesn't taste great, then the other food items in the bowl won't taste as good since they won't absorb the flavor as much. I'm happy to say that Mama Hong's has that trait in their selections of pho. The restaurant is in the heart of Downtown Burbank and is close to the AMC Burbank 16. It's very convenient to walk right on over for lunch or dinner if you're done watching a movie. Customer service is good as well.

A super solid place to stop by, especially before catching a movie at The Burbank 16. I literally walk pass by this place all the time on my way to the movie theater. Finally got a chance to come-in & I'm glad that I did. Although, I have my "go-to whole-in-the-wall Vietnamese" place in the SFV, there's always room for more businesses to support & Mama Hong's Vietnamese Kitchen - Burbank definitely deserves your patronage. It's a welcome step-up from your typical no-frills Vietnamese place, so the vibe / decor is especially great if you're introducing someone to Vietnamese cuisine for their first time. FOOD **PRO TIP: Go "Family-Style" = split multiple dishes amongst your table so you can have the opportunity to try multiple delishes dishes at once. That's the move. Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles - 9.2 / 10 **GET THIS DISH!!!!!** I did my "due diligence" before coming here & I 100% knew that I wanted to try this particular dish as soon as I came into the restaurant. In fact, the person whom I came here with wanted this too. (She didn't tell me in-advance). Needless to say, when multiple people have the exact same dish in-mind, you know that this is a good sign. Strips of lean, tender, juicy, quality, tenderloin steak, well-sautéed onions, plenty of garlic, served on top of a bed of al dente noodles. What's not to love? It's like eating a big, bowl, or spaghetti, but without the overpowering tomato sauce. Don't let the simplicity fool you. Yeah, I could very, well likely make this dish as home, but sometime it' just nice to leave some things to the pros. You can't go wrong with this dish. It sounds delicious in theory & it delivers on all fronts in reality. Spicy Garlic Chicken Rice - 8.9 / 10 A nice counterpoint to the heavier beef dishes that are offered, the well-seasoned, not-overly dry, but not-too spicy chicken is substantial. Round that off with an adequate portion of perfectly-steamed white rice & some fresh veggies (your standard pickled carrots, daikon radish, & lettuce), & you got yourself a solid chicken dish. Grilled Ribeye Steak Sandwich - 9.1 / 10 I hadn't had breakfast, so I was definitely craving a bit more to satisfy my hunger. This beef variant of a traditional Vietnamese Bahn-Mi hit the spot. Since I'm used to eating more economical + fattier cuts of beef for my bahn-mi, it's a rather welcome + modern twist to be using more premium cuts of steak (I honestly might steal this move the next time I whip-up a bahn-mi at home). It was hearty & you can definitely tell that the quality is there. I could be mistaken, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some fish sauce that was used to marinade the steak. It makes for such a well-rounded, savory flavor. The crisp veggies, & aromatic cilantro round-out all taste sensations on a fresh baguette. In many ways, this is the fancier, upgraded, "Rolls Royce", of a typical whole-in-the wall Vietnamese spot's bahn-mi, & that is sometimes what you want. I would definitely get this again, especially if I was on-the-go. DRINKS Mango Jasmine Iced Tea - 8.9 / 10 Don't sleep on Mama Hong's handcrafted beverages. The mango jasmine iced tea provides everything that I want in a thirst-quenching drink. You get the tropical tones of the mango offset by the herbaceous jasmine of the tea. I really appreciate that it's not overly sweet. I especially dig that their handcrafted beverages come in customized branded plastic packaging with that soda-can lever-opener-style lid. You just don't get that anywhere. The staff is beyond accommodating. Shout-out to Mariska for being such a friendly & warm server. Granted, I came on a Sunday afternoon (around 2pm-3:30pm), don't be surprised if you have to wait because I can see this place being quite the trendy spot. Granted it's casual, it's still feels a bit nicer/fancier than the more relaxed bars, fast-casual spots in the surrounding area. You can't go wrong with Mama Hong's Vietnamese Kitchen - Burbank. A solid choice, indeed.

Mama Hong's Vietnamese Kitchen is an Asian owned restaurant recognized for its contemporary approach to traditional Vietnamese comfort food. The restaurant was established in 2012 by Lan Pham, a third generation restaurateur. Lan Pham founded the kitchen as a tribute to his mother ("Mama Hong"), intending to share her "top secret" family recipes with the community. The business focuses on delivering a dining experience that combines authentic flavors with heartwarming family hospitality. The restaurant features a stylized olive-and-back facade and a modern interior with clean lines and rope-string mirrored walls, giving it a trendy yet relaxed feel. It's casual, family friendly, suitable for group, dates, or solo dining. Service is friendly and attentive, though it can get very busy during peak hours and weekends. Notable items include the Premium Sliced Filet Mignon Pho, Shaken Beef with Garlic Noodles, Spicy Garlic Chicken, Beef Ribs Pho, and Traditional Combo with wagyu steak, brisket, and tendon. Popular appetizers are The Ribeye Steak Spring Rolls and Crispy Chicken Wings. The kitchen also offers a wide selection of Banh Mi sandwiches, spring rolls, vermicelli dishes, and vegan/vegetarian options. Lunch specials are available on weekdays (11 AM-3 PM), featuring combos like an appetizer with pho or a grilled plate. They also serve a variety of iced tea, such as Oolong Milk Iced Tea and Mango Jasmine Iced Tea, often presented in signature custom bottles. Price ranges from $10-$20 per person, offering significant value due to the large serving size. We like all the food that we have tried here. Everything was tasty and delicious. Our favorites are the Shaken Beef with Rice, Spicy Garlic Tofu, Ribeye Spring Rolls, Grilled Ribeye Steak Sandwich, and Filet Mignon Pho. A large 5-story free parking garage is located directly behind the restaurant. Free street parking is available on N San Fernando Blvd and surrounding streets. Additional free public parking structures are within easy walking distance throughout the Downtown Burbank area. For a longer visit, you can also park at the nearby Burbank Town Center Mall and walk to the restaurant.

5 stars given for the food which has been consistently good from this location. 3 stars for take out service. While I can't say much about dine-in service, I will say that I've had a hit or miss experience with my take out orders. I believe this is the 3rd time I've received an incomplete order. Hopefully it's better the next time around. Maybe I'll take a chance with dine-in on a day off.

Not sure if he was the owner or manager but a very kind and thoughtful worker on Sunday 1/25 around 3pm made our dining experience one for the books. He made sure my daughter's bday was extra magical by bringing her ice cream (from a shop a few doors down since they don't have ice cream here). My daughter LOVES pho and this made it even better and brighter. The food was great. The service even better. Come give this place a shot. Worth the wait.

I didn't think it was possible to find yummy pho in the valley but it's here. We were immediately seated and our server was very kind. I wanted a comforting bowl of pho and ordered the one with filet mignon. It was delicious, I absolutely loved the broth(which is the most important part). The meat was tender and soft. It was balanced and yummy! Their tofu garlic noodles are also delicious (will be ordering those next time). I will be back for more pho for Mama Hong!

Mango and peach jasmine teas! Absolutely delicious!

This place has always been a staple for me when I visit the AMC Burbank theater and it still doesn't fail to disappoint. I went yesterday night before catching a movie and ordered a spring roll and a porkchop vermicelli bowl. Both were good and hearty. The service was fast and the waiter was very prompt with everything we asked for. Overall, another great experience at Mama Hong's!

My wife was craving some 'home cooking' on our way back to the valley from DTLA so we swung by Mama Hong's for some Pho for her & our boys, and a plate of bo luc lac for me. We got there at peak dinner time so, as expected, we needed to wait a bit for a table to accommodate all 5 of us. But, surprisingly, even with it being a small restaurant and them being busy, we ended up getting seated quite quickly. Service here was good, nothing amazing, but they did get our order quickly and did their best to get it cooked and out to us as fast as possible. I just wish we had one or two more checkins as we found ourselves in need of some extra napkins and some plastic silverware that's more suitable for our younger boys. The food here was good. For my bo luc lac, it was flavorful and the chunks of beef was large. I just wish there was maybe one or more pieces for the price I was paying. My wife, on the other hand, was really impressed with the pho. She is understandably quite picky on her pho as she grew up with her grandmother making it from scratch almost weekly but after just a few bites she said how good it was. It was one of the best reactions I've seen her have towards pho since we moved out of the greater Westminster area and up to Los Angeles. And if she is going to give it praise, then her word should hold infinitely more weight than anything I have to say. In all, while Mama Hong's isn't the closest of Vietnamese restaurants for us, I know for sure the next time my wife is craving the food she grew up on, she will look for an excuse to come over to Burbank for another bowl.

Food at Mama's Hong is really good flavorful and worth coming for. But the dust on the ropes right next to the tables is hard to ignore. If this is what's visible in the dining area, it makes you wonder about the cleanliness in areas you can't see. Great food, but hygiene needs improvement. Updating my review: I originally left 1 star due to a cleanliness issue. I'm happy to say they addressed it quickly and everything looks clean now. Food at Mama Hong's is really flavorful and definitely worth coming for. Because of how fast they fixed the issue, I'm updating my rating to 5 stars. Appreciate the effort and will be back!

So refreshing to have soup noodles after a day at the warner brothers studio tour. Great food and service here! We tried the pho soup noodle, pork chops vermicelli and shrimp rolls. Doesn't disappoint. I had the pho with chicken breast. The chicken breast is sliced thin and good quality meat. The spring rolls were fresh. Peanut sauce is a bit weak and subtle for my preference. Drinks here are freshly made and served in custom bottles. You pop it open just like any soft drink. This place doesn't take reservations. We came on a Monday around 6:30p in the evening. No need to wait for table. Service is fast and attentive. Food also comes out quick. Lots of parking options. Street parking if lucky. Or There are covered parking structures close by. Pretty convenient.

I was doing some errands in Burbank and decided to come in for a quick lunch. I decided to order tofu springrolls (they were 2 for $7.95) and an iced green tea. I wasn't super impressed by the spring rolls, they were pretty basic. The tofu was fried nicely but overall the spring roll didn't impress me, especially for the price. I don't think I'd order the iced tea again because it tasted like water. The service was pretty fast and the ambiance in the restaurant was pretty chill.

First time trying Mama Hongs. Place was busy, with all tables taken, but didn't wait very long. Service was great, waitress frequently checked in on us, but our pho took so long to come out. Pho was a good portion, just missing some flavor. Also ordered a grilled shrimp salad, chicken egg rolls, and a jasmine tea, which were all delish. Tables were clean, restrooms needed attention, prices were a bit steep, and playlist was bumping some hits (from electronic to 80's)
