I loved the chicken Pho and Richelle loved the soft noodles with shrimp. The crab Rangoon is some of the best we have ever had, very light crunchy shell and wonderful filling. Celebrated a late birthday lunch for my son. He chose Pho Shiki in Columbus, Indiana. We have been there several times and agreed to his selection. I almost always get the Rare beef Pho as my entree. It remains one of my favorites right behind Number 1 Eggroll in Beech Grove, Indiana. The ingredients are always the freshest possible. We had two appetizers and two sushi rolls. The appetizers and entrees were very satisfying and delicious. The sushi is something I would not order again. Not bad but presentation was sloppy and taste was average. The entrees were all sensational. Service was awkward. The waitress that started with us and got our drinks was allowed to leave early. And it took a lapse in time before the person who allowed her to leave early, notified another server that we needed help. THIS ONLY OCCURRED AFTER A WAITRESS NOTICED MY LOOK OF DESPAIR AND INQUIRED. That server did an amazing job filling the gap. The management is weak as evidenced by the unprofessional communication between employees in ear shot of diners. I was hoping to like this place a lot more than I did. You walk in, and there were boxes stacked everywhere. The place was not clean. I ordered the small pho. It was a very nice size for small. The broth was good and the vegetables were fresh. Where I had an issue was the shrimp. They were not deveined. I had to devein my shrimp before I put them into the broth. I got the well done, beef pho. My husband got the shrimp one. We both loved it!! Added a lot of sriracha to mine I love they they have them at the tables. The service was great! All the servers kind of work together and tag team so service is super good. And the speed of getting the food was very fast. I was disapppinted in this restaurant. I was hoping for great pho, being one of the few asian restaurants in Columbus. However, the food was not very fresh. My Viet iced coffee tasted like it was regular coffee moxed with some condensed milk, no strong Viet coffee flavor I had hoped for. Usually not a big deal but in aggregate with everything else it added to the negative revoew. The fried spring rolls were overly burnt which I'm guessing is from being frozen and refried. The veggies I got were old and not fresh (cucumber was not crunchy, and the pickled veggies were very old). What was presented as agedashi tofu was just some thinly fried tofu topped with sesame seeds and a side of chili sauce, instead of the traditional tsuyu sauce. Nothing close to what is considered agedashi tofu. The last thing negative thing i noticed was the beansprouts for my pho was black on the ends and again, not fresh. Perhaps it is inaccessability of fresh asian ingredients nearby but these things all negatively impacted my review. I did not try it but I was told the sushi was good by the people I ate with. read more

With the combination meal you also get miso soup and a crisp lettuce salad with ginger sauce. They also have lots of sushi rolls to choose from. I go to Pho Shiki a decent amount. I like the place. It's quiet and the staff are all very friendly and attentive. I usually get a sushi roll and teriyaki chicken with mushrooms and fried rice. It's always very good. My only complaint being the chicken is sometimes slightly over cooked, but I'd definitely rather that than undercooked. I will continue to eat here. read more

Service has gone down beyond belief. I hate to see this restaurant with great food the way it is. Workers don't know how to manage the influx of people coming in and out. Stopped in yesterday for a late lunch with the missus. It was after 2:00pm and the place was empty. That is usually a bad sign but we sat down and ordered anyway. I had not had sushi in ages and decided to try. My wife tried a vegetarian hibachi dish. Both were delicious! The wait staff was polite and professional. The place was extremely clean and well cared for. We decided to add this to our list of favorite asian restaurants and will certainly become regulars. read more

I love this restaurant! I was one of their first customers the day they opened as I know/knew the owners. Their food is still awesome! However, their original sushi chef has changed and opened his own restaurant. Now, the wait for sushi can be over an hour plus. When the sushi is served, you can tell the poor guy was hurrying. This is no review of the current sushi chef or his ability to make awesome rolls. He's great!! Pho Shiki is a rare gem in a town that is starving for quality restaurants. My wife and I have a tradition of finding the best pho restaurants in whatever town we go to, from London to Paris to NYC to Vancouver to LA, we've eaten a lot of great pho. I can say, this place serves a great, authentic pho tai (rare steak pho). They also serve Chinese and Japanese fare (including sushi), but, full disclosure, I've never tried any of those. They have very fresh and good food! I had combination beef pho & deep fried spring rolls when I went there for the first time for quick lunch during business trip. It was delicious and very affordable price. Toppings (basil, bean sprouts and jalapeño) were very fresh, too. Second time I went there was also for lunch during business trip. Vietnamese chef was on vacation, they didn't serve any Vietnamese food at the time. I had to choose Japanese food instead which was ok. (I can be particular sometimes about Japanese food because I am from Japan... ) I had Chicken and shrimp with mixed vegetables.
