I Went here to have a lunch date with my daughter. Kid friendly and cozy atmosphere. I ordered the miso soup and Godzilla Roll. Great lunch for $10. The miso soup had cilantro and onion in it and I enjoyed it. I happen to love onion and cilantro and have never had miso with those ingredients so if you do not like cilantro be prepared. The Godzilla roll was great. I asked the server if the tuna was a whole chunk or ground up with the spicy sauce. She said it was ground up which I do not prefer but I ordered it anyway. It actually was a chunk of tuna with the spicy sauce on top. I was really happy when I saw that...most spicy sushi I have had comes ground up. We ate here the first Time today. My salad was so overdressed that when you lifted the lettuce up the dressing dripped off of it. I got the teriyaki steak and shrimp with fried rice. The rice was gummy and thick and the steak was grizzly and over cooked. I my husbands vermicelli bowl tasted nasty needed salt and the shrimp were tough old and overcooked. When we told the gentleman checking us out he did not take any money off of our ticket and we ended up paying $40 for a meal my husband did not eat and I only ate half of I do not record mend pho Shiki to anyone read more

This place has excellent pho. It was as good as the best indy has to offer. The pho tasted great without adding hoisin sauce (if you have to put hoisin sauce in your pho, go someplace else), or any of the basil, peppers or lime they server with it. We did add those after savoring the flaver as is and they bumped the flavor yet another level. The noodles were also cooked perfectly. Often these get overcooked. but they were al dente when served giving them a bit of room to further cook as you ate. the mi xao don also had a good flavor. We liked the crunchy noodles which often disappoint us on this dish. but these were thin, light and crunchy, softening as they soaked in the sauce. There were plenty of veggies. We got this with chicken which was all dark meat. Some of the pieces were stringy and some just unappetizing. We would have preferred white meat here. Usually this dish comes with beef, chicken and shrimp. but they only let you choose one. Next time (and I hope there will be a next time), we'll go for the beef. the only disappointment was the goi con roll. Usually we love these but it's hard to find a good peanut sauce. This sauce was a bit runny. But the roll itself we didn't like and weren't sure why. Maybe it was the pork which instead of being bbq'd tasted like a dry roast. Or the shrimp which was flat and tasteless. or the cheap iceburg lettuce cut too large. not sure. but it was a miss. the wait staff were great and attentive. The service was fast. the restaurant was maybe a third full. We got our apps in a few minutes and our mains in less than 10. read more

This was my first time having vietnamese food. I was not disappointed. I had the hibachi chicken with fried rice. They put this random red spicy sauce on the side... idk what it even was... but I put it on my rice and mixed it in. Tasted like everything I never knew I needed. The restaurant was super clean & modern. The multi-colored lighting made me feel like I was about to rave. I was here for it. I need more practice with the chopsticks though. read more

The best sushi in Columbus bar none. My favorite is the spicy crab roll! The steamed shrimp dumplings are wonderful and mouth watering as well. Hardly any wait, the prices are affordable, and the ambience is low key. You can get better and cheaper sushi here than most places and this is where I'll be going to get my sushi fix from now on! I had a great meal with my dad at pho shiki! We tried the vegetable spring rolls (with fried tofu) for our appetizer. They were amazing! He ordered the alaska rolls and enjoyed them and I (vegan) ordered the vegetable rolls they were delicious!:) I got a water with my meal and he had the Thai ice tea and enjoyed it. We jumped at the chance for a Vietnamese dinner, though I'm always a little wary my first time at a new pho place. We had a short wait (they told us 10-15 minutes, but it didn't end up that long), so I hoped that was a good sign. Speaking of signs---only in Indiana would a pho place offer a "Hoosier Bowl," an XL serving of pho. Hilarious! My husband and I started with fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, which is hard to ruin. Delish! We're bun (vermicelli noodle bowl) fans, so we opted for bun rather than pho. Both bowls came with fabulous, crispy egg rolls, and I chose the sweet grilled pork while my husband ordered (or I accidentally ordered for him when he went to wash his hands, but whatever) a bowl that included shrimp and a barbecue-sauced pork. The BBQ pork wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad. The grilled pork tasted good but didn't look like it was grilled at all---I like to see those lines and have some crispness. Our server was very friendly amd attentive, as was the other staff. We did witness a moment where a staff member unintentionally came across as rude to some patrons, and she was very apologetic. She was just harried in turning over tables and getting guests seated and sounded short. All was well! As soon as our meal was over, my husband commented, "I want to do that again!" I ate here once and saw a cook change a baby's diaper in the lobby, not wash his hands and take the baby back to the kitchen. The sushi is garbage and the food sucks. Heard that the back is absolutely disgusting from the city fire inspector who was in the back inspecting the fire suppression system. Coming from California, where Vietnamese food is abundant, it was great to have something familiar because one can only eat so much pizza, hot dogs, or steaks. The spring rolls are very good. Yellowtail sashimi w ponzu sauce and jalepenos were second to none. We also had the fried rice as an entree and that was very authentic and tasteful. read more

As an update, we have been back to Pho Shiki twice since my initial review...both times, just as great! I tried the Nigiri/Sashimi combo #3 (8 nigiri, 9 sashimi) and a drunken lobster roll. Tempura lobster pieces in a roll with a garlic sauce on top...heavenly...but make sure whoever you're with takes a bite, too....its pretty strong garlic! It's the best pho in town but I think it's the only pho in town. Pho is also the best item on the menu. The sushi is very Americanized. The rest of the food is as well. A strange amount of cream and mayo for Vietnamese and Japanese food. This is the kind of place to take people to think Japanese food is very exotic and "foreign". I absolutely love this place. Everything I've ordered has been delicious and the wait staff is wonderful! Our typical waiter is John and we come in so much now that he knows our order by heart. The first time I went, I tried the hibachi and it was simply delicious. I tried a few other items before settling on my favorite, the Pan Fried Noodle Combo (Pho ap chao Thap cam). Also, I usually get the house salad and the ginger dressing is NOMS. I wish I could get a bottle of it to take home, seriously. The dumplings and sushi are also good. As good as it gets and more when you take into account this place is in Columbus IN, the home of fast and for the most part (99.999%) crappy food. A family run business that works hard (and succeeds) putting fresh, delicious and interesting food on your plate. Amazing considering many of the ingredients have to be trucked in from Chicago and still the prices are inexpensive (aka cheep). The eclectic dining crowd is a testament to Colombians desire and need for fresh, well prepared food. Hopefully more restaurateurs will realize there is a market for good food in Columbus and more restaurants will open following the owners model. This restaurant is a happy place and all should be grateful this family picked Columbus. There are no levelheaded reasons to diss this business unless.... you like the fake Mexican food at Riviera Maya, standing in line at Wendys/McD/Greasy food or eating at any of the many food service distributor restaurants (Gordon/Sysco, boxed food heated up) that proliferate throughout the city. If you don't like Viet Nam or Japan food why are you reviewing this place? And reviews that profess to love the food, but beat up on the service make absolutely no sense to me. The heart of a restaurant is what happens in the Kitchen, end of story. Restaurants are selling food not service. You wont' see a service price list on the menu. From watching the contrived TV restaurant shows, we've confirmed our own experiences, if the kitchen is putting out garbage, the service is then often garbage and the owners are worse. Bad service can always be fixed and most times, right on the spot but you can never fix the kitchen or an owner. This place does not need to be fixed. Just saying. read more

Yummy! Had the spicy tuna roll as usual and tried a few others and they were all good! I am usually not a huge fan of Japanese fried rice, but I loved it here! I had their pho as well and it was very very good! Hit the spot when I was sick. When you order take out for pho it's nice that they give you the broth and everything else in separate containers that you put together when you get home so it's fresh and not soggy or anything. It's quite awesome! It's right near where my in laws live so when I am in town and want some awesome pho I always go there! Good price and fills me up completely! Delicious! My family enjoyed the variety of choices available on the menu, from the eponymous pho (a beef broth rice noodle soup) all the way to sushi. My husband enjoyed the well-done beef pho and some lovely firm salmon rolls. I adored the shrimp and pork vermicelli (bun) - beautiful presentation and incredible taste.
