The place was packed. Gavin wasn't feeling too hot, so we left football practice early to grab pho for him. I was delighted to see they have vegetarian options since I was not eating meat that day. We stood at the entrance for sometime before being acknowledged. After a while I spoke up to ask if we can seat ourselves. The service was short. The food came out pretty quick. I remember Gavin enjoying the pho. My banh mi dau huu was very dry. The pickled daikon and carrots needed more time in the concoction in my opinion. Served with potato chips. Not my cup of tea.

Genuinely surprised, I was here a 5 years ago last time and wow has this place improved. I did get the banh mi this time, rather than a pho because I've already had the best pho in San Jose and there's no beating it (spicy beef broth at pho luc luc). But this Pho Spot did have a smackin' banh mi. The chicken was fresh, the portion sizes were GENEROUS, and I felt like I really got my moneys worth, which at the end of the day is the most important thing (to me). Definitely give this place a shot, I recommend the chicken banh mi!

My friend and I have been coming to this pho place for years. The service has always been great - friendly, quick and efficient. The presentation is wonderful; our food looks delicious and very appetizing. The portion is great and I can never finish my plate. It used to be much smaller, but has recently opened up and there is more space for people to sit and eat. We usually don't have to wait for a spot, even when it was smaller - unless it's the weekend. While I still enjoy the food, I have to say that I think it doesn't quite taste as good as when we first found it. There's a lack of depth of flavor - as if it's missing something that would tie it all better together. The ingredients are fresh and it's cooked well - it's just missing that extra something to make it 5 stars in taste. Overall, not a bad place to grab some lunch/dinner. Everything I've tried is decent, but I usually stick to the vermicelli bowls because of the fresh veggies.

TL;DR Great food, ENORMOUS portion. Great: Chicken skewer appetizer - juicy and flavorful even without the provided sauce. Bún with grilled pork - My go-to at any Vietnamese spot. Pork is tender and well marinated. They effectively serve this in a mixing bowl, so show up hungry! Service is attentive and friendly, and the place is comfortable and clean.

The soup noodles here are great. The broth is flavorful without being overly sweetened and the large portion is huge. Service is quick and friendly. Clean, casual and bright interior. Highly recommend.

I give this place a 3.5, but if you ask me why didn't I just give it the 4 stars? Well.. it's hard to say. The food here is delicious, but not memorable. It's just missing the something special. My partner and I ordered the chicken salad and Vietnamese coffee to share. He had pho while I got the vermicelli bowl with chicken and eggrolls. Pho - meat was tender and plentiful, broth was aromatic, yet overall it missed the last pow of flavor. Chicken salad - plentiful and fresh, but it was bitter for some reason. We were not able to narrow down what made it bitter. Vermicelli Bowl - also plentiful and fresh, but the chicken was a little dry. The egg rolls were not seasoned enough. The fish sauce was not salty nor tangy enough. Overall, it had all the elements I like in my dishes. They definitely hit the ingredients check list better than most restaurants, but something about the flavor just missed the wow factor for me. Combined with the distance since I do not live in the general area, I probably wouldn't be back. Fun fact: I have been here before pre-pandemic but I did not realize.

Come prepared to eat!! We ordered the Large Chicken Pho and it was enough to share between the two of us and take some home. We also ordered the Lemongrass chicken with Crispy egg rolls and let me just say WOW!! Both plates were so delicious we left that place more than satisfied and full!! *Non-Pho Review* As someone who doesn't like pho, I can't speak to the namesake dish of the restaurant but for all those who are often dragged to Vietnamese restaurants by their pho-loving relatives & friends, this one's for you. Pho Spot absolutely knocks it out of the park with one key item, their Grilled Pork. The flavor-packed pork at Pho Spot is far and away the best I've found at any pho restaurant. Combine great meat with generous portions, fresh veggies, and a high-quality crispy french roll and you have yourself one of the best Banh Mi in San Jose. The pork is good enough to stand on its own, so if you are feeling a different option I can definitely recommend the Grilled Pork Rice Plate as well. While I can't personally speak to the pho, my wife really likes it and she is quite critical of pho overall so I would say that's definitely a good sign. In terms of ambiance, it's a very clean and inviting space and they've always provided us with excellent service. If you are looking for your next bowl of pho or just craving some Vietnamese, I would definitely recommend checking out Pho Spot.

What I LOVE from SJ Eggrolls is the garlic noodles with the garlic butter shrimp. IT SO DELICIOUS! One of the best garlic noodles I've ever had and the shrimp was tasty. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the shell was soft to eat. Another item I love here is the banh khot! So crispy, fresh, and fried well. Very limited seating, this is more of a take out spot. I was especially hoping the spring rolls would be similar to the ones I love from Brodard in Southern California, so I came in with my fingers crossed. They have some nice combo deals, but I wanted to sample a few different items instead. I ordered one of each of the fried egg rolls (only $2 each) and originally ordered the pork and shrimp spring rolls. While I was waiting, I changed my mind and decided I wanted to try the Nem Nuong rolls instead. They were incredibly nice and changed my order without any issues, which I really appreciated. The place was extremely busy, so I ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes, but it was definitely worth it. The net-wrapped egg roll was excellent, super crispy with great flavor. Just be sure to eat it over a plate or with a bag underneath because those crunchy flakes go everywhere! The regular egg roll was slimmer than I expected, but it was also very tasty. The Nem Nuong rolls were good too. They didn't quite reach the level I was hoping for compared to Brodard, but they were still very enjoyable. The house dipping sauce was delicious and really complemented the rolls. They also include a small container of hot sauce for anyone who likes a little spice. I tried it, but honestly preferred sticking with the house sauce. The restaurant itself is small and simple, with only about three tables, so it seems like it's geared more toward takeout, which was obvious from the steady stream of takeout orders while I was there. Next time, I'll probably call my order in ahead of time to save some waiting. Overall, a great spot for Vietnamese appetizers at reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.
