We wanted to try a different Vietnamese food place that wasn't in our area. We were already in the Cambrian area doing running some errands and decided to look up some Vietnamese food nearby. We noticed Pho Spot and luckily it was after lunch so it wasn't busy. We were sat down right away and we noticed the menu prices were very reasonable compared to some of the popular places in our area. We ordered Fresh Spring Rolls, Rare Steak Pho, and the Beef Stew with Bread. The Fresh Spring Rolls came out pretty fast! I really loved their peanut sauce! Some restaurants put too much hoisen and then you can barely taste the peanut flavor, but the peanut sauce here was really good! The rest of the food came out shortly after and we were really impressed with the portion of the food! The pho broth was pretty good and tastes very clean. I really liked my beef stew, but I wish there were less onions. There was a lot of onions and I took some out. But I really liked how the bread was toasted since some places will just microwave the bread instead of toasting it. The portions were actually so much that we ended up taking it home and eating the rest for dinner. Overall, it's a great little restaurant but a little far for us. If we're in the area, I could see us coming back to try other dishes. read more

The place was packed. Gavin wasn't feeling too hot, so we left football practice early to grab pho for him. I was delighted to see they have vegetarian options since I was not eating meat that day. We stood at the entrance for sometime before being acknowledged. After a while I spoke up to ask if we can seat ourselves. The service was short. The food came out pretty quick. Genuinely surprised, I was here a 5 years ago last time and wow has this place improved. I did get the banh mi this time, rather than a pho because I've already had the best pho in San Jose and there's no beating it (spicy beef broth at pho luc luc). But this Pho Spot did have a smackin' banh mi. The chicken was fresh, the portion sizes were GENEROUS, and I felt like I really got my moneys worth, which at the end of the day is the most important thing (to me). My friend and I have been coming to this pho place for years. The service has always been great - friendly, quick and efficient. The presentation is wonderful; our food looks delicious and very appetizing. The portion is great and I can never finish my plate. It used to be much smaller, but has recently opened up and there is more space for people to sit and eat. We usually don't have to wait for a spot, even when it was smaller - unless it's the weekend. While I still enjoy the food, I have to say that I think it doesn't quite taste as good as when we first found it. There's a lack of depth of flavor - as if it's missing something that would tie it all better together. The ingredients are fresh and it's cooked well - it's just missing that extra something to make it 5 stars in taste. Overall, not a bad place to grab some lunch/dinner. The service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. The staff who showed us to our table were unfriendly and expressionless. A male server was serving our food, and when I asked for an extra bowl, he said it wasn't his responsibility and told me to ask another staff member. Later, the same male server suddenly asked me to pull my chair forward while I was in the middle of eating, even though there was plenty of space behind me and he could have easily walked around our table instead. I give this place a 3.5, but if you ask me why didn't I just give it the 4 stars? Well.. it's hard to say. The food here is delicious, but not memorable. It's just missing the something special. My partner and I ordered the chicken salad and Vietnamese coffee to share. He had pho while I got the vermicelli bowl with chicken and eggrolls. Pho - meat was tender and plentiful, broth was aromatic, yet overall it missed the last pow of flavor. Chicken salad - plentiful and fresh, but it was bitter for some reason. We were not able to narrow down what made it bitter. Vermicelli Bowl - also plentiful and fresh, but the chicken was a little dry. The egg rolls were not seasoned enough. The fish sauce was not salty nor tangy enough. Overall, it had all the elements I like in my dishes. They definitely hit the ingredients check list better than most restaurants, but something about the flavor just missed the wow factor for me. *Non-Pho Review* As someone who doesn't like pho, I can't speak to the namesake dish of the restaurant but for all those who are often dragged to Vietnamese restaurants by their pho-loving relatives & friends, this one's for you. Pho Spot absolutely knocks it out of the park with one key item, their Grilled Pork. The flavor-packed pork at Pho Spot is far and away the best I've found at any pho restaurant. Combine great meat with generous portions, fresh veggies, and a high-quality crispy french roll and you have yourself one of the best Banh Mi in San Jose. The pork is good enough to stand on its own, so if you are feeling a different option I can definitely recommend the Grilled Pork Rice Plate as well. While I can't personally speak to the pho, my wife really likes it and she is quite critical of pho overall so I would say that's definitely a good sign. In terms of ambiance, it's a very clean and inviting space and they've always provided us with excellent service. I used to love this place but it all turned around on a visit last Tuesday. Walking in, I was created by a sour smell. It was mildew from whatever old rags they were cleaning the tables with. I mentioned it to the waitress who seated me, but she just shrugged. They must go nose blind or something. I should have just left at that point but I was hungry. I ordered the mixed fried rice, chicken and shrimp. They brought me pho soup instead and I waited another ten minutes to get my food. It was bland and I took half of it to go. Shortly afterwards I began to feel nauseated and that persisted for a day. I didn't want the leftovers and the person who consumed them also became ill. Located within a small, outdoor strip mall next to an alteration shop, Pho Spot is on a quite part of Blossom Hill Rd near very nice residential areas. We found ourselves in Los Gatos yesterday in need of picking something up nearby, and found this place while searching on Yelp. Noticing the high ratings and simultaneous craving pho, it was an easy decision for us to stop by. Parking was readily available in the small, private lot. And despite its seemingly hole-in-the-wall nature, the inside was surprisingly clean, modern, and well-lit. Service was very friendly throughout, and we were allowed to sit ourselves wherever we preferred. My wife ordered a regular sized Savory Chicken bowl, while I opted for a regular Meatball Pho bowl. You can choose between rice noodle or egg noodle, but we both wanted to go the more traditional route for our pho, and stuck with the rice noodle. Regular sized bowls were $15.50 ea. And despite the name, was actually pretty large in nature and generously portioned with ingredients within. The pho's were satisfying and delicious, although slightly heavy on the MSG. Really enjoyed stopping by here, and look forward to making this a more regular stop every time we find ourselves in Los Gatos. One of the best pho spots I've visited in San Jose. The broth was rich and flavorful, the meat tender, and the herbs fresh and aromatic. However, this may be our last visit due to a concerning safety issue. For the first time, we couldn't find parking in front and had to park in the back of the restaurant. There, we noticed an electric vehicle being charged using a setup that looked improvised and unsafe. The charger was wired oddly, and there was a strange noise coming from the white car that was plugged in. What really worried me was the proximity of this charging station to the restaurant's kitchen and gas lines. In the event of a malfunction or fire, the consequences could be severe. This setup seems like a serious safety hazard, and it's not something that should be taken lightly. Charging an electric vehicle so close to a commercial kitchen is a major red flag. Great food, but safety has to come first. read more

The spring roll was so fresh , the skin of the roll was soft , and the vegi inside was so fresh . The rice plate was pretty big in portion , and the egg roll was so crispy . Overall I love their food and services . We were there around noon time Friday and the restaurant was full of customer without any empty table available , but the waitress cleanup the table fast , and defiantly efficient . No sauce or mayo or anything to get my NOM NOM on. The grilled pork was pretty good. 27 year old daughter enjoyed that one. Place is small and parking is a little difficult. The young help up front was excellent. They knew the menu and helped me decide. The bread was fresh. Jalapeno was screaming and cilantro gave me some serious craving for a COLD ONE!! I have tried other places and the flavor was missing here at this place. They need to moisten up the sandwich a little. Not too much. Came here a couple times when I was battling a cold and craving some pho. They have a small parking lot out front and currently they're only accepting cash only. I called in my order ahead of time and it was ready upon pickup. First time I ordered chicken pho, second time I ordered beef combination pho. HIGHLY recommend the beef pho, that was so good, comforting, and flavorful. The chicken pho wasn't impressive, the chicken was dry and it generally lacked flavor, but it's hard to master a good chicken pho. They give you scissors to cut up the chicken. I'm not familiar with this process, but it sure was efficient. The place was clean and friendly. The tables were spread apart.
