Listen up, Pho T & Q customers... Pho Sunrise is the new business name and it's under different management. What remains the same is the quality of the dishes! From my review on Pho T & Q: "The interior is not much to write home about, but you come to these types of places for the food, and the food only, making it a great spot for lunch or a low key dinner. Bring an appetite. It's cheap, delicious and the portions are huge. A visit to a Vietnamese restaurant isn't complete without one of my favorite things in the world to eat and that's veggie spring rolls. Pho T&Q's are 2 to an order and 2.95. Insane, right? They are standard, served up with the sauces that make 'em as spicy/salty/tasty as you wish. I also had a vat, I mean a giant bowl, of vermicelli noodles with lemongrass tofu. Although I've only had the pleasure of experiencing this place once, I can vouch that it's a solid four stars on the vietnamese scale. My usual Pho hot spots are Pho Orchid and Pho Nola in Metairie but I wanted to travel a little further out of my way to experience some Kenner vietnamese favorites. We split an appetizer order of shrimp and pork spring rolls which where perfectly good just as they are at any other given vietnamese place (and it should be since it would be really hard to mess those up). I had the Bun Bo Hue and my dining companion had the same except he opted for the blood cake added to his. That's right....they actually ask when you get the spicy beef noodle soup if you want the blood cake in it or not. I was curious to try it but I figured I'd let my companion take one for the team so I could just just taste his the first time around. He ended up liking it pretty okay since it didn't taste "bloody" or "irony" or anything like you would expect something like "blood cake" to taste like. It almost tasted like a bit of tofu really as far as the consistency of it. So if you are wanting to experience a more authentic kick on a Bun Bo Hue than this is the place for you! Also, the broth of the Bun Bo Hue was MUCH more fragrant than the broth I've experienced at my other usual locations. I could taste a lot of lemongrass and spices that seemed more unique than what I was used to, which I appreciated. We also got Cappuccino and Mango Boba Teas. Both were excellent and I highly suggest either although cappuccino is certainly a flavor that I haven't seen many times as far as boba teas go so I felt compelled to have that one in particular. It was excellent. The atmosphere isn't anything special, but not many small vietnamese hole in the wall restaurants of that nature are. The service was very nice, only two young girls running the place but they did so very efficiently and smiled eagerly at us each time they passed our table. They were very eager to please and asked us just about 10 times if we needed anything else and if we were still enjoying our food. Perhaps because we were one of only two tables there on a Sunday at 11am (they open at 10am). After all, this was practically breakfast. I'd definitely go back again and try something different to see how it compares. I hear Pho Bang is the other big vietnamese pho competitor in the area, so I'm eager to make a few more vietnamese pilgramages to Kenner. read more

If anyone wants to eat good authentic Vietnamese food, I would highly recommend this place. I always order for takeout.

Living right down the street from Pho Sunrise, I find myself coming here at least 2 or 3 times a month. I usually start with either the Pork or Shrimp Spring Rolls and then move on to either the Phô Tai or the Pho Gâ (Beef or Chicken Soups respectively). Both are delicious and have a good helping of meat and noodles. They also serving a heaping portion of bean sprouts, limes, and basil on the side to add to your soups. Phô Sunrise also has a decent selection of beers, soft drinks, and juices to go with their meals. After my meal I usually indulge in one of their tapioca bubble teas. My favorite is the Thai Tea, but their mango or pineapple is also to die for. I highly recommend checking out this hidden gem in Kenner! He tells me that this isn't a clinic and he doesn't get why people come there and expect miracle medicine soup. A friend know how much I love my Bun Bo Hue that when she stubble in a restaurant all the way in Kenner, she knew I would drive there just to try them out and yelp my experience. So here it goes... I ordered two togo Bun Bo Hue since I was passing thru from shopping. Hands down my newest favorite place for Bun Bo Hue in NOLA. The broth was perfect. It has the taste of lemongrass that I like and enjoy from a bowl of Bun Bo Hue. For proteins, you get sliced brisket, thin slice of pork and blood cubes. They didn't have pig feet which I really don't care for it anyway. I do have a problem with their choice of veggie and herbs. A typical BBH would have cabbage, cilantro, onions, banana leaves and mint. What we got was chopped Roman lettuce, onions, bean sprout and some limes. We did not even got any hot sauce or shrimp paste Togo in our takeout. Lucky enough I'm Asian and we always have those on hand..lol I might have to order again the next time and buy some cabbage to add to my BBH. To me cabbage is a must in a bowl of BBH. read more

Definitely the best place in the Metairie/Kenner area to get Vietnamese food by far. Better variety and pricing compared to some of their competitors. Atmosphere: 4/5. Very clean and spacious with a number of tables to sit at. At many other Vietnamese places, they're set up to accommodate mainly parties of 4+, so I always feel better when I walk into a place and they have 2 tops so I don't feel so lonely when I'm having "me time." They do have TVs in the restaurant that usually show CNN or current events. Knocking a star because decor is a tad outdated but I really don't care about that. Lol. Service: 5/5. Always nice and welcoming. Prompt and get the job done quickly. No fuss and will answer whatever questions anyone may have. Food: 5/5. ALWAYS get the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup). Don't hesitate. Don't even ask why. It's just probably one of the best bowls of BBH I've had in the New Orleans area. Some places make the broth entirely too sweet and some aren't savory/spicy enough. Theirs is nearly perfect. Only thing that would make it better is if they added actual pig feet/trotters to the soup or they made the bowl free. (: They do serve it with huyet (blood cubes) and saté/mam tom (shrimp paste) upon request. Menu is diverse and has more than just pho, bun, and appetizers. Visiting from Los Angeles, CA and was craving something not fried. We arrived 30 mins before closing and was still welcomed inside by the staff. When we placed our order, though, the waitress was so damn pushy we almost decided to leave and go elsewhere. My boyfriend ordered the small bowl of pho and the waitress insisted that he get the large bowl of a different pho. I ordered a dry vermicelli dish with charbroiled pork and shrimp and even pointed at the words on the menu. Then she insisted that I get the pho dish two more times until I said firmly that I've made up my mind. WTF?! She was way too pushy, and it made me and my boyfriend suspicious about the pho soup. I had Pho Sunrise to-go tonight for the first time. Their prices are so affordable for the amount of food. I got meatless pho; while it was missing the usual bean sprouts, jalapeños, lemon, and thai basil, it had onions and cilantro instead and was equally as delicious as any pho I am used to. My cappuccino flavored bubble tea hit the spot, and the shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce was amazing, too. The workers are very sweet, and the restaurant appeared clean. So this is an update on my last review. The last time I couldn't give it the 5 stars I wanted because there was always a huge language barrier when placing an order over the phone. They have corrected that. This place has the best and I mean the BEST pho ever. I literally come here every chance I get and they are always so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is in a strip mall which seems unappealing, but the food is where it's at. If you're questioning an item on the menu just ask and they will work with you. My go to is shrimp pho with the spicy beef soup broth. Omg my mouth is watering as I am writing this. Their spring rolls are so fresh and delicious. Hands down my favorite pho place. Absolutely amazing. No less delicious than the best pho and Vietnamese (fried) spring rolls I had in Viet Nam! Fast, courteous, and truly fantastic food. The pho is highly complex in terms of flavor, and the noodles are perfectly cooked. The spring rolls are lightly fried, flaky, but not at all oily. The filling is savory, but, commensurate with most Vietnamese cuisine, has a strong, complex bundle of flavors without being overwhelming. It also is not at all oily, and instead juicy and incredibly satisfying. These are the only two items I've eaten here thus far, but I'll be back as often as I'm in New Orleans! I had to waste an hour on my Friday lunch break, and came across Pho Sunrise tucked away in a strip mall. I wouldn't say hidden, as their sign is obnoxious yellow/orange, but not something I would have noticed had I not been searching for a new food place to try. Anyway, the first thing I noticed was the pricing on the spring rolls. As others have mentioned, $2.95 for two. Awesome deal! Even though I didn't really *need* spring rolls, I decided to try an order of Tofu rolls and was not disappointed at all. In fact, I think next time, I may just get 2 orders of takeout Tofu spring rolls and call it a meal. This time, though, I also ordered the grilled pork bun. It was a huge serving (couldn't finish it after the spring rolls) but it was very, very good. With iced tea, I think my meal was about $12 pre-tip, so that's about on par with other Vietnamese restaurants in the city. When staying by the airport, this is now my go to place for Vietnamese cuisine. The food here has not been tailored to the taste of the Louisiana population. It's close to what I would get on the west coast (Little Saigon in Garden Grove, CA or East San Jose, CA). The only complaint I have is that the ratio of meat protein to noodles is skimpier than what I would expect. Otherwise the Pho broth is on point, the fresh rolls (Goi Cuon) are also delicious. Pho Sunrise provides a decent dining experience in a neighborhood filled with mostly uninspired cuisine. I wouldn't recommend you make plans to stop in, but if you are ever stuck waiting near the airport, this knocks the socks off food from the airport. I love pho. It is one of my favorite foods, and if we are going to have Vietnamese, you can count on me ordering a large bowl of pho, unless it's not my first trip to a Vietnamese restaurant that day. This time was no different. I ordered the Pho Tai Nam Gan Sach, XL for $8.75. Now the pho at Pho Sunrise was about average. The bowl comes out hot and steamy, which in addition to providing pleasing visuals and aromas, is important to "cook" the rare beef that it often comes with. The noodle soup is also served with a plate of fresh vegetables, which is customary. Pho Sunrise provided a plate of mung bean sprouts, fresh basil, cilantro, lime wedges, and jalepenos. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh the veggies on the tray looked. Nothing was wilting, and it all looked very fresh (mung bean sprouts can wilt within a couple days, so kudos, for having fresh pickings). I tried a bit of the soup, which was satisfying, but I was disappointed as the broth was not very flavorful. IMO, great broth is the key to having a great bowl of pho. Though you can spice things up with sriracha, hoisin sauce, lime, etc, these are complementary and not a replacement for good savory broth. I just got water with my meal. Nothing wrong here, except the cups are HUGE. They were so big, that the straws doesn't go over the lip. Maybe they expect some thirsty folks coming in or want more time between refills? Despite the large cups, my server was quite nice and stop by my table a few times. As far as the restaurant, there was some decent décor inside that gave the place some character and some TV's on either side that also make waiting around a little easier. The bathroom did smell pretty funky, so that was a turnoff. Note: I currently live in Baton Rouge, but I was spending the day in NOLA before picking someone up from the airport later in the evening (a little after normal dinner time).
