This Pho Super Bowl, although it shares the same name as the one at Alhambra, is not the same. The prices here are slightly slower because they are currently offering a 20% discount for dine in or take out. I can see why because it's like a ghost town. There aren't many customers here. The interior is just okay. Nothing too fancy but it looked okay. Not too many decorations either. Pho Super Bowl is known for their large pho bowls, hence the "Super Bowl" in the name but when I got it here, it was like a normal large at other Pho restaurants. It also didn't come in those stainless steel double walled bowls either. The pho itself was pretty mediocre, like it didn't come out very hot and it just didn't have enough meat or noodle in it. The soup was also a bit bland unfortunately. After dinner, there was no dessert provided either unlike the Alhambra one. Service is pretty much nonexistent here. It looked like there was only kitchen staff and one wait staff. Overall, I would pass on this Pho Super Bowl and only go to the Alhambra. There wasn't anything super in my Super Bowl. read more

It was a cold Sunday night after a long day out, and we were craving something warm. After searching Yelp, we decided to try Pho Super Bowl - Diamond Bar. We arrived as a party of four and were seated quickly, as we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. The place felt very quiet. One thing we noticed right away was that it was hard to locate the order taker/server -- he was sitting on the other side of the bar on a low chair and partially hidden, which made the space feel even more empty and disconnected. We ordered: #53 Charbroiled Meat / Egg Quiche / Fried Shrimp Patty - OK The charbroiled meat was unfortunately tough and lacked flavor. The egg quiche and fried shrimp patty were better, with decent texture and taste, but overall the dish felt average. #32 Special Combination Pho (2 Regular / 1 Super Bowl) - OK The "Super Bowl" portion was overstated. It appeared to be mostly extra broth rather than more noodles or meat compared to the regular size. The soup base itself was just okay -- nothing particularly rich or memorable. Thai Tea - Good Smooth and enjoyable, probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, I don't think the name "Super Bowl" fits the portion or presentation. I was surprised when digging into the bowl. I can easily name at least three pho places that serve much larger and more generous portions -- not just in bowl size, but in actual ingredients. With the 20% discount, drops it to about 4.50 a piece or 9.30 total. Spring rolls should NOT cost that much. There are spots near by that sells FOUR for about 10 bucks. The inside was slow but the service was good. I sign that I use to judge the service is if they are attentive of refilling your water, which they do. The inside has a good amount of tables, albeit one is used to refill condiment jars and sauce bottles. But what pho spot doesn't do that? We ordered eggrolls, chicken stir fry with butter rice, and short rib with noodles. He had to repeat the order multiple times but in the end he still messed up the orders because both entrees came with plain white rice. He quickly fixed the dishes without much of a sorry. The food was just okay. The egg roll filling was not memorable and on the blander side. The chicken tasted old. The short rib meat also tasted old. We weren't huge fans of the quality of food. Lastly the credit card machine didn't work so they asked for cash or venmo. I'm not sure if that was true, but regardless is highly inconvenient for patrons. Got the Large Combination Pho to go and it was definitely a good deal! There was an especially a generous portion of super tender brisket. The tripe was also nice and crunchy, paired well with bites of noodles. The broth could use some beef fat perhaps for a better mouth feel, but was still quite flavorful and balanced. My order was ready pretty much two minutes after paying and came with more jalapenos and bean sprouts than I have ever received for take-out pho. Came back recently during happy hour and we were very satisfied. Positives: -taste, the galbi with butter rice was very tasty with just the right amount of fat. My go-to items are their #32 regular size Phở Dặc Biệt (special combination) and #2 Nem Nướng Cuốn (charbroiled pork patty rolls). Parking is in a private lot of the small strip mall, but can sometimes be busy because of the East West Bank. FOOD: For starters, we always share an order of the Crispy Vietnamese Eggrolls ($14.50), and then I usually get their House Special Combination Phở ($15.50) which includes rice noodles, round steak, flank, brisket, tripe, tendon, and meatball. Their broth is one of the better ones around, and the meat is fresh and tasty. I've also had the No. 54 Charbroiled Meat & Shrimp (choice of pork, beef, chicken, or pork chop +$2), as well as your choice of base: Vermicelli, Butter Rice, or Steamed Rice. As of the recent few years, the San Gabriel Valley has been a location for many up and coming Vietnamese restaurants. But with many of the newer places gaining the attention of people here on Yelp, many of the locations that have served the community for decades have fallen under the radar. Driving through the Diamond Bar area, Pho Souper Bowl has always been a place I've eyeballed as a potential place to try. So I finally decided to give them a go. I came in to the restaurant on a Sunday around 1:30PM. And to my surprise, there was not a single person eating inside. Although this was unexpected, I proceeded to sit in and take a look at the menu. Pho Souper Bowl had a large selection of beverages, pho bowls, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates. Furthermore, each dish ranged from $13-15 which leans cheaper than many other restaurants in the area. For this visit, I chose a Charbroiled Pork, Shrimp, and Eggroll Vermicelli Bowl which was $15.50 at the time of this review. As the bowl arrived at the table, I was happy to see a good quantity of ingredients inside. With two egg rolls, three pieces of shrimp on a skewer, and a generous serving of pork; as well as a medley of sliced cucumber, pickled carrots, and beansprouts, there was plenty to eat. So much so that if I was not hungry, the food could easily have lasted for two meals. With the ratio of protein to vegetable and rice noodle balanced at 50-50 for each, the $15.50 price tag was more than justified in the Diamond Bar area. Definitely good value for those who have larger appetites. Looking at the the taste of the food next, the quality was not bad! The vegetables were moist and fresh while the rice noodles were somewhat slippery. For what they are, they were done just fine. As for the egg rolls, the inside contained mostly meat which tasted a tad sweet. I found the exterior shell to be the defining ingredient as it was crispy and lightly salted. Moving to try the shrimp next, it leaned more on the dry side and did not have much moisture compared to the other ingredients in the bowl. However, the charred shrimp still had a light sweetness to it and paired well with the vegetables. The charbroiled pork also leaned more dry than what you might find in a typical vermicelli bowl. But nonetheless, it was sweet, rich, and sharp from the green onions on the top. Value is the name of the game at Pho Souper Bowl for sure. With a variety of dishes at a lower-than-average price point, the amount of food given in the bowl, and the taste of the ingredients inside, there really isn't too much to complain about. And with that, I'd argue my experience at Pho Souper Bowl is an easy 4/5. Yes, the food has its areas of improvement. Yes, the price is mid-pack in the Diamond Bar area. Yes, the restaurant could specialize instead of offering a wide selection. But for a Vietnamese restaurant that has been in the community for a long while, definitely don't sleep on Pho Souper Bowl. I'm not sure if we came on an off day or what, but the food was not great today. Let's check the boxes first. The place looks clean, open, has some simple decorations, it's fine for what it is. The service people were nice and friendly. We ordered pho tai and rice dishes this time around, I'll give a quick general review of the pho then the individual items. Pho Tai - I personally think the pho was fine. It was a standard pho, what you would expect out of a pho place, though my wife wasn't a huge fan. The price is fair for pho in the area, though if you want to pay a bit more, there's better pho in the city. Price to value, this is ok. Egg Loaf - Their egg loaf is on the softer side, but tastes like a standard egg loaf. I have no problems with this. I wouldn't come here specifically for this, but as far as I'm concerned, this was one of the more enjoyable parts of this meal. Charbroiled Pork / Beef - The marinade on these was simple. I want to say mainly just soy sauce and sugar? I didn't taste the lemongrass that I think would've taken it up a notch and overall I thought it was just ok. The problem with this dish was the meat was just a bit off. It's hard to describe... the pork wasn't dry, it was soft, but there was this ashy texture at the end that was a bit offputting. My wife's thought was that it reminded her of Astronaut food, you know the freeze dried stuff? I think maybe it's just the blood wasn't washed out completely so you had a bit of that powdery texture. The beef felt like it wanted to be crisped similar to the texture of crumbly Chinese jerky, but had the same issue. I still ate this, but it just threw me off. Rice - Their rice... again maybe an off day. The white rice is ok, it serves as a vehicle for the other flavors. I've written about rice I'd want to eat just by itself in other places, this wasn't that today; it reminded me of fast food rice. The yellow rice though confused me. So it looked like it should be flavorful, but it wasn't. The texture was mushy, the flavor was off, and the strangest thing happened in that I poured the fish sauce on it and it was still bland. I'm not even sure how that happens, it was like to took the flavor and transported it to Narnia. I actually ate more than I would have just because I was still trying to figure out how that happened. Fish Sauce - It's a strange thing to say but the fish sauce smelled fishier than I would have liked. The term in mandarin would be xing, but it's the type of fishiness that I think typically don't want in a dish. That said fish sauce is very, very much a personal preference (and my rice sent all my fish sauce to a different dimension). Fried Egg Roll(?) - This is the egg roll that came with the rice dish, not sure if they have a different one as a side. So the skin was crisped and honestly reminded me of chinese fried bean curd skin. I enjoy that, so I'm fine with that. The texture of the meat is what threw me for a loop. I don't know if this was intentional, but it was dense, without bounce to the chew. Normally you either have something softer, or something with more chew. In the words of my wife, this seemed more like the texture of one of those pink erasers, which I could kind of see actually even though it was an exaggeration. It may be a style that I'm unfamiliar with or personal preference if intentional. So, I know that grubhub has pretty decent reviews of this place and people like this place so maybe it was an off day or just not to our taste preferences. Unfortunately, there are a lot of good vietnamese places in the area so we're probably not going to check to see if it was an off day or not. If you want to try this place, I think it's ok for the pho. If the yellow rice is consistently made that way, I wouldn't recommend that one, but maybe this place suits your tastes better than it did ours. read more

Came here on New Year's Day and it was not too packed. I was a little annoyed at first because we waited for 10 minutes to get seated even though there were plenty of seats that were not taken. We got seated 10 minutes later and were offered ice water. We ordered a plate of egg rolls, a rice plate, and a bowl of pho. The egg rolls were very crispy and it came with veggies and vermicelli. The rice plate was not what I expected but it did satisfy my cravings. Normally, a rice plate does not come with steamed rice but with broken rice and a bowl of soup. Steak wasn't anything to write home about - but that's not to take away from how it all comes together. The egg rolls were just okay. Between 3 of us we ate 2 of the rolls. We wouldn't order them again. The Thai tea was nice! Tasted spot on! The whipped cream was genuinely a nice touch as well! Overall it wasn't too sweet, which Is my constant gripe with Thai Tea. I've been here a few times with friends and I always enjoy it here. The pho broth is good, service is fast and friendly, and they have real sriracha lol. I came here today because their bowls are cheaper than the other pho places around the area. However, the portion is also accordingly smaller than most places. I found myself hungry after getting a medium size bowl and don't think it's enough food for most adults - so maybe get the large. I always get pho tai, and today my brother got the seafood pho, but I was surprised that the broth tasted the same for both? If you can't eat beef maybe make sure with the restaurant that the broth isn't cooked with beef in itself. They don't offer the free bean dessert after the meal anymore, sadly. When I came here for an early dinner the place had plenty of to-go orders and a few tables sitting. I ordered a fried chicken hen and my friends ordered their pho. I had a little bit of their pho and soup broth and it was enjoyable. My rice dish was also great, something that I use to eat a lot when I was little. The Yelp ratings for this place is extremely skewed. If you look at the most recent ratings, you could tell this place has been going downhill and very fast. I took my family here based on the overall four star ratings, but quickly learned it was nothing but. I should have carefully reviewed the recent Yelp reviews, but just did a quick Yelp search for pho since we were in Diamond Bar,CA. First off, the customer service is horrendous. We asked if we could sit by the front and he ignored us and told us to sit in the back corner. The worst impression was when my dad had ordered a cup of hot tea, he gave us a cup half empty and my dad said, can you please add more tea, to which the waiter said, "Just drink it!" in a very rude tone. And that was our first impression of this place. The service is deplorable. In terms of food, we ordered a variety of dishes including the pho and a rice dish. The pho wasn't that good and for $10.50, it was okay and portion size was quite small. The food overall is just not good.
