First time trying this place, very friendly and good was yummy! The plates are huge and shareable. Will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I decided to give this restaurant another try. The other dish we used to always order was Chicken Pan Fried Noodles. OMG! What a huge disappointment! The noodles were hard and tasted stale. I had to literally break them apart with my hands! The owners are NOT the same! I'm Chinese and can honestly say that these were the absolute WORST pan fried noodles I've ever had in my entire life. We will NEVER, EVER make the mistake of eating here again! I would ZERO stars if I could!

Came here for the first time for a relatives birthday. It is such a hole in the wall I can't believe I've never been here! The food was very well priced - ~$17.00 per person and includes soup of the day, rice, wonton and shrimp + an entree. I couldn't even finish my entree because of how big it was. The food was delicious and came out in quick time. At one point we did have to remind the owner that we were missing some egg rolls/wontons but I think it's because we had such a big party. I would definitely stop by here if you're looking for great Chinese food.

Your favorite Yelp correspondent loves it when he can add a new, well-run Chinese restaurant to his roster of "go to" staples- a list that includes Red Lantern in Glendora, Happy Kitchen in Chino Hills and, if I'm ensconced near Newport Beach, Mandarin King. My friends and fellow Yelpers- ADD Walnut Tree Restaurant to the list! Walnut's original Chinese restaurant planted its roots in 1979, when Disco was ebbing, Jimmy Carter sat in the Oval Office and gasoline had surged to $0.86/g in the wake of the Iranian hostage crisis. Forty six years and three family generations later, the folks who run Walnut Tree are still delivering fresh, tasty Chinese cuisine at affordable prices. I arrived at 2:57pm, scarcely in time to score their nifty lunch special- (lunch-portioned) entree plus your choice of rice, accompanied by soup, egg rolls + tempura shrimp...all for $12.95 ($2 less if you go with lo mein instead of rice). The egg flower soup was good, though I'm sure the stink eye stare I got from an elderly guest seated across from me was because I'd violated his sense of dining propriety by dousing my soup with soy sauce! The egg roll was piping hot with a pleasant crunchy exterior- ditto for the shrimp. The kung pao chicken was serviceably good, not the "Ivy League" of Kung pao dishes I've enjoyed through the years but did the job. The fried rice was, however, a wee bland. Served with no slivered scallions, fried egg or proteins. You can upgrade to its beefier cousin, but with the lunch special you get the basic version. My server Kloe was pleasant and her service was lightning-quick! No sooner had I consumed three spoonfuls of my soup and she'd materialized with my entree! She also kept my diet coke replenished. The Walnut Tree Restaurant is cozy but clean. My bill was $17, incl soup/appy/entree, a drink, taxes and tip. Bravo!!! Can't wait to bring my family back.

Food was very good the prices seemed a little steep but once we got the food the portions were big. The chicken and Low Mein and two steamed rice were enough for two adults and two small children.Service was very good the waitress was very polite.. Ambiance is simple and clean. We will return again.

All the food here is so good, but when I'm sick I run to go get their wonton soup. It's so so good, wontons, bok choy, water chestnuts, baby corn, bamboo, bbq pork AND fried shrimp? OMG it's phenomenal. Don't wait to be sick though, it's so good on a rainy soup day, or just when you want something cozy and comforting.

Small whole in the wall. Good food. The orange chicken was the best. Dark meat. Not too sweet. Sweet n sour had white meat. So it was kinda dry. Mongolian beef very chewy and kind of sweet. Has a lot of onions. Good portions though.

    Cream-Cream Cheese Fried Wontonscheese

Food: Cream cheese wontons were so crispy! Mild flavor for the filling but the sauce was sweet. Service: Very sweet and kind server! Overall: I would stop by to try other items and get the cream-cheese wontons

This time, I came with my family to Fu restaurant, a casual Chinese restaurant with a huge menu that's perfect for ordering a bunch of dishes and sharing family-style. The first thing that caught my eye was their $9.99 Colorful Rice Plate ! I heard they're the first to serve this style of colorful rice plate. I've honestly never seen rice served like this before . There's rice in the center, surrounded by mapo tofu, tomato and egg, minced meat, vegetables, and seaweed. You get several different flavors all on one plate--perfect if you can never decide what to order! The restaurant also told us that members of their culinary team previously worked in food service during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in China, which might explain why their menu has such a wide variety, from homestyle dishes to snacks. We also ordered the Salt & Pepper Shrimp . The outside was fried until crispy, with green peppers, garlic, and lots of savory flavor. The Three Cup Chicken smelled amazing as soon as it arrived, and the rich sauce was perfect with rice. I also really liked their Beef Roll. The outside was nicely pan-fried and crispy, while the inside was packed with beef and cilantro. Super satisfying in every bite! We also tried the Pickled Mustard Fish, Oyster Omelet, Satay Beef Chow Mein, and their fun "Mix It Up" dish. Our table was completely covered with food . They also offer catering and boxed-meal delivery for meetings and events around Los Angeles, with generous portions and budget-friendly options, which can be really convenient when ordering for a larger group. After trying everything, the dish I still remember most is that $9.99 Colorful Rice Plate. I never knew a simple rice plate could be served in such a fun way!

On a hot summer day, this colorful rice bowl was exactly what I needed -- refreshing, flavorful, and only $9.90! I ordered the popcorn chicken rice, and the portion was huge -- the chicken was literally piled high and spilling over the edge. Perfect for sharing, and such a great deal. It also hit me that I'm basically eating the same meal served to athletes at the Olympics and Paralympics in China -- how cool is that? They also offer catering for office meals -- bento boxes at affordable prices with generous portions.

The sesame peanut noodles have been disappointing the last three times I've ordered them. They barely add any sauce anymore, so the noodles taste bland. Instead, they throw in a ton of minced garlic and especially minced ginger, which completely overpowers the dish. It doesn't taste anything like it used to. The service has also gotten worse. I asked an employee in Spanish if I could have a straw. She acted like she didn't understand me, so I asked again in English, and she still said she didn't understand. I just said never mind. But a few minutes later, my aunt asked the same employee in Spanish for more water, and suddenly she understood perfectly. That honestly left me confused. The employees also come off as rude and unfriendly. Then, when it's time to pay, they practically shove the tablet in your face while standing there watching you. We were a party of four, yet there was a $16 gratuity added, and on top of that they asked us how much extra tip we wanted to leave. It feels like you're being pressured into tipping twice instead of it being your choice. It's honestly sad because this place used to be so good. I've noticed fewer people eating there lately, and if the food quality and customer service keep getting worse, I can see why. I hope management takes this seriously and brings Thumbling back to what it used to be.
