Absolutely the VERY best Crawfish I've ever had. You have to go. We drive 26 miles to enjoy the crawfish.

This is an update, as per my latest visit to this establishment today 9/2/2015. I came here after a little after 1pm with my friend and kiddo. The servers seated us after a few minutes because we asked for the table by the window. Once we sat down and had time to read the menu, the server came back and took our orders. Once the water and food came to the table I went to eat and noticed there were no spoons and the bowl of soup was missing the second meet I ordered. The waitress looked annoyed, once I alerted her to both issues. It took her a while to get back to our table, but she did bring the spoons......but when I asked her again about the meat, she told me to look under the noodles, which I had already done before asking about the missing meat (I'm no novice to pho). I assured her that there was in fact, NONE of the 2nd meat I ordered. She said something, in a low almost inaudible voice, and left. A few minutes later she returned with a tiny serving of the second meat (about 4 tiny thin slices, even small for pho standards). And walked straight away. I didnt say anything and proceeded to eat my food. Well guess what interupted my meal???..........a lizzard! I think it was an anole, it scared me and my friend and we had to beg the wait staff to attend to the issue. A glass of water was spilled from our table and they took their sweet time to bring a mop and help us out when the mop did finally come out, it had a roach on it!!! Yuck. Now I know why they have lizzards in the place!! Their there for a roach meal!! I'm so dissapointed in this place. The soup is very very light on flavor....they could do better. Another note...if they are going to charge 7 bucks for soup, then they are going to have to stop being super cheapo and add some more meat....gosh..even 3 pieces would make a difference in their skimpy meal. My friend was craving some pho on a Saturday night, and seeing that this place was nearby, we decided to give it a try. The interior was like the interior of most noodles houses, nothing extravagant, just simple decor. It was pretty dead, and we were helped immediately by an older gentleman, I am assuming maybe the owner since it is a family run business. We ordered a pork banh mi to split, and he ordered a pho with assorted meats, while I ordered a chicken and rice dish. The banh mi came out first. It was rather tasty and contained well seasoned pork, cute crinkle cut carrots, and bit of daikon. It was a bit smaller than what I am use to, and being $4, more expensive than I am use to, but I would probably get it again. My friend enjoyed his pho, though he prefers the pho at Pho Saigon. I had a taste of the broth. It was pretty good, not oily, and it had a good flavor, though I found it a tad salty. My entree was a little disappointing. It wasn't horrible, but it was something I would expect at a buffet line or maybe as a home-cooked meal. It consisted of some generic tasting dark meat chicken with a strong satay flavor, with bits of crinkle carrots, onion, and celery... The food was also swimming in grease that puddled on the bottom of plate. I wish I had ordered some steak dish that the server had accidentally dropped off at our table before returning promptly after realizing his mistake. It looked and smelled really good. I'm glad that I now know of a place to get banh mi on that side of town, but that is the only big draw for me here. read more

This is the place my worker and myself frequent quit a bit. But after today. I will frequent no more. Here is what happen. The long and the short of it. I ordered the lunch combo special because the waiter is in a hurry and he kept asking me what do I want and I had just sat down. But anyway i went ahead and ordered the lunch combo. But when my food arrive and I proceed to put the bean sprout as usual in my soup. There was a dead fly in the mix of the bean sprouts. I didn't want to make a big deal so I figure I will inform the manager/owner lady that walks around the resturant. She just stared at the plate and gave me a look. So the waiter walk by and see what she was doing they both stared at the plate with the dead fly in it then they gave me a look as if I put the fly in the plate. I don't mind so much the look but they didn't even say "Sorry" or nothing. I think in their minds is that I put the fly in the plate so I get a free meal. If I wanted to do such a thing I would have made a big deal and demand another bowl of soup since I have put all the bean sprout in the hot soup already. To top it off I have to go up to the cashier and ask for my bill. They still didn't say a word about it. I don't mind paying for food. But at least keep it clean and be nice about it if the customer pointed out to you. Offer an appology or exchange for another bowl of noodle soup. I will not be eating in that place any more since I really don't want to get food poison or anything that a dead fly can carry. Or worst yet is what kill the fly and landed on the bean sprouts. Since the manager won't appologize and still think there is no problem. Then eaters beware. They will not clean up or do anything. read more

I'm a native Houstonian and live in the area but have had Pho and Banh Mi at so MANY authentic restaurants in the Bellaire area and other parts of HTown. Having traveled all over Viet Nam and other countries in Southeast Asia and in my opinion, this place has THE BEST Pho, Banh Mi and other dishes in Houston!! I don't know if they've been putting MSG or crack in their broth, but the past few times I've come here for pho, it's been super super delicious. The broth has been sweet and extremely flavorful. Portions are pretty average. I can't vouch for any of the other items because I only come here to eat pho. It's typically not very busy, but there are those super random days that it gets pretty packed. Service is not too shabby. Random walk in after a quick research around Yelp. It's funny how random places in Houston are better than the pho in DC. Anyways, onto the review... This is actually more of a 4.5 Stars. But the pho was actually really good. What I noticed was a really strong hint of star anise (pro or con, depending on who you ask). Also, the lunch special of a large bowl of pho, egg rolls, and iced tea is a great steal! The service was actually pretty good for a Vietnamese restaurant. I live by the mantra for Vietnamese restaurants that if the service is good, the food is bad. Here, you don't get that trade-off. So why didn't I round up? My thai tea was severely under-sweetened. I love something sweet to round out pho, but this was lacking. I want my high fructose corn syrup dammit! Just kidding, but seriously, check this out. read more

This is late review post. This was a place I go for lunch on the weekends when I was working at Best Buy in Katy. The service here is very prompt and great. There Pho here is awesome. The shaking beef here is so delicious! The meat is tender and the sauce is great so tasty. This is my first time trying to shrimp, but I'm sure I'll like it. I see the owner running around and helping out all the time. She checks people out, helps make the food, and is just so friendly. Speaking of the service, everyone here is nice and polite. I eat Pho at least once a week and I think most of the Pho restaurants in Katy are OK. For me it is usually about the broth and I thought they were all pretty good until I visited this restaurant a month ago. They have a great broth and they have something that no other Pho restaurant in Katy has, friendly service. For instance at Pho Mia you walk in and sit down and hear "Wat yu wan" and you they never stop back (I also watched them reuse basil from a table that left) . At Pho Saigon it is "wat number please" and if you died at the table they would never notice. At Pho 88 it is the same kind of thing except they have their kids fighting in the dining room. When you go to Pho Tan you have a smiling waitress that asks what you would like from the menu and she also comes back to check and make sure you have everything you need. Came here for lunch and ordered the Egg Noodle with Shrimp. Since this place had Vietnamese servers and a Vietnamese menu I expected it to be a pork base broth, to my disappointment it was just the beef Pho broth that they used which was slightly salty to my taste. If they were going to use the Pho broth at least let me know since I placed my order in Vietnamese. No napkins provided at the tables when they brought me my food and the ice water lacked ice. It's 10:15 AM on a Monday. I'm stranded in the area waiting for my car to be serviced. So figured I'll go get some breakfast. I wanted to try the Korean Kimichi place or the Mediterranean grill but of course everything is still closed so I went to the only place that was open. Half a star for opening early. My husband ordered the classic shrimp spring roll to start, Thai tea and Pork Banh Mi (french bread); I ordered the Taro tea with tapioca and Chicken Banh Mi. A place like this, I don't expect real service. The older man can barely speak English, I asked recommendations that are NOT Pho (It's 95 degrees outside!) he just pointed at the menu page that said Pho. Yes, I can read. Oh well, poor guy. They did not give us water and served the spring roll first. Husband and I both agreed that there's a weird taste to the shrimp. Like it's freezer burned. Since it's not going to kill us, we ate it. Then they brought us our drinks. Both of the tea were fine. It's hard to mess up tea, milk and sugar syrup. However, the tapioca is disgusting. I wasn't expecting a melt-in-your-mouth boba, but if you are going to put that on your menu, I expect something edible. It texture is like separated curd and throw up. My guess is, it's an over cooked 2 day old batch of crap. I should never order boba in a restaurant without checking Yelp first! Banh Mi - The bread was good. The general flavor is there. *big bite* crunch and I bite into a long unseeded Serrano pepper. I can take heat, so it's not a problem. I just thought they were suppose to be cut in to little circles and spread throughout the sandwich. The sandwich was really nothing special and the ingredients were not layered very well so every bite was a different ingredient : Yum Serrano pepper with bread, cilantro with bread, pickled veggies with bread, AH too much salty chicken with bread...repeat. Anyway, it was a let down. Maybe their Pho is tasty but next time, I'll pick a later car apt. so I can go to another place for lunch. read more

Highly recommended! Had the shrimp spring roll and vegetable egg roll for appetizer both had beautiful presentation and great taste. My dad and I both ordered the Shrimp Pho but substituted the rice noodles for egg noodles was delightfully aromatic and great taste. For dessert we were recommended the milk tea and did not disappoint. The waiter was very patient, very helpful and extremely polite. Can wait to go back. read more

The absolute best round eye beef pho I have ever had! Ordered a shrimp spring roll appetizer and a rare beef pho for my entree and both were delicious. Most importantly the pho broth was super flavorful and dark (indicating less msg and actual marrow broth like it should be). The owners wife was my server and she was very sweet and attentive to all my needs as a customer. She was on top of refilling my iced tea multiple times and made sure I was satisfied with the meal. It was very obvious that this is a family owned business and they take real pride in their service which I appreciated. My favorite spot for Viet cravings in Katy. The pho has a good blend of salty and sweetness, just enough body for a gentle draw. They bought my husbands food out 1st and I had to flag down a server that wasn't ours and ask her if she can check the status of my soup. I almost always get the vermicelli bowl with grilled shrimp and egg rolls. And it's usually more than enough for lunch! My office moved from the Westchase area to the Katy area recently, and it's been a struggle to find equivalent Asian restaurants to those in Chinatown. Fortunately, for Vietnamese food, Pho Tan An is serviceable enough for me and my buddy to frequent during lunchtimes. Found this hidden restaurant by Katy freeway. It's a bit odd that they have "bo nè" at a pho restaurant but, mannnn best "bo ne" I've had. It came in a good portion and a side of salad with homemade sauce. I exchanged the rice for the bread and ordered pâté on the side cus that's how you supposed to eat it but they don't always have it so you have to double check.
