This place was awesome! We heard about it from Mike Chen's YouTube channel and had to give it a try. When you walk in you just seat yourself. The waitress was very fast despite the dining area being pretty full! She got us water bottles and took our order within a few minutes. The food came out QUICK. And it was delicious! We came for the BBH and it did not disappoint! :) the spring rolls were also pretty good. I added a bit of sriracha to spice it up. When we ate the BBH it's like it kept getting better and better. I love it when I find a place where the food makes me feel good. I ordered a small bowl and it was a perfect size for me. There was plenty of meat. I like to dip mine in fish sauce, which there's a bottle on the table. It's rare for me to lift up the bowl to my face and finish the soup. That's how I knew it was good. Was told to come here for their Bun Bo Hue (the spicy sister of beef pho) and I wasn't disappointed! You know it's best when every table in the restaurant has a bowl of Bun Bo Hue. The soup was hot, rich, and flavorful but not too spicy. I especially love the fresh and thinly sliced purple cabbage, combined with the equally fresh bean sprouts, which added extra texture and elevated the presentation of the dish. Unlikely in some restaurants where some of the basil and the bean sprouts look dry and wilted, the veggies at Pho Tay Do look like they just took a spin cycle after being plucked from the field. I have heard so many people recommend this Bun Bo Hue place and so I had to come and try it out. The place was clean and the service and decorations was typical of a Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered the extra large size, which was massive! The extra large size was certainly not for the faint hearted as it was a lot, but I managed to finish it, including all the soup. The broth was the savory kind, with no hint of sweetness or pineapple. If you prefer the broth with pineapple, you might not like this broth. Previewed the reviews before coming, I was a bit put off by some. Luckily I didn't let them get to my head. Went on a Sunday afternoon, the smell of cigars filled the restaurant but that just convinced the food was going to be tasty. I was a little put off by the floor being messy but that's more on customers being messy. It was a Sunday after all. The young man who served was very polite gave us bottle water as we sat down. I looked around saw a school photo of the boy on the wall and knew the food was being cooked by aunties and that this was an authentic family restaurant. I ordered the Bún bò Huế, which was so delicious not oily which was fantastic. The meat was tasty and fresh. The broth was so flavorful and filling. The plate with fresh purple cabbage and bean sprouts was generously sized. Egg rolls were delicious and made at the restaurant. I couldn't finish them because I wanted to focus on the BBH! If you've never tried it before it's a spicy beef broth soup, it takes a while to make Once we finished, the lady who gave us our dishes, gave us another water on way out which was such a kind gesture for this hot weather. I wouldn't say their pho is great-- chicken pho was kinda salty, beef pho was ok, com tam was good but not exceptional, bbh was great ( though we didn't get the blood cubes). We also got bo (avocado smoothie), not enough avocado to taste it. Their customer service was great and it's a clean restaurant. This time was pretty flavorful, but still lacked the richness we expect from a great BBH broth. I read online somewhere stating that Bun Bo (spicy Vietnamese beef and pork noodle soup) is their specialty thus I have to try it because it's my favorite Vietnamese noodle soup. I stopped by on the drive from San Antonio to Oklahoma City. The soup is good but lacks the spice and a little of the umami flavor on that particular day. Wow, when people told me the Vietnamese food was good in Texas, this is the kind of food I imagined. I think I've only given 2 or 3 five stars in my 50+ reviews so this is saying something. They're known for the bun bo hue and it was obvious as soon as we walked in because everyone there was eating it. Price wise, it isn't on the super cheap side as a small bowl of BBH was about $9 but man was it worth it. So I had the small bowl, my bf had the grilled sliced pork rice plate, and an iced coffee to go. BBH: the small was filling on its own. It came with a plate of cabbage, bean sprouts, and lime to garnish your soup with. The noodles were nice and chewy, and the broth was spicy, rich, and so good. They put a lot of different meat in it as well as the blood (if you don't like blood then ask for without). I've had a lot of bun bo hue before and this is definitely my favorite hands down. The best surprise was definitely the rice plate. I didn't think it would be THAT good. The pork was nicely charred, Smokey, and full of the salty and sweet flavored. It came with cut tomatoes, cucumbers, rice, and of course, fish sauce. Man the fish sauce was delicious. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Definitely come! read more

This place has great service, they don't check often but also they greet you and super nice when they are interact with you. The food was DELICIOUS and the coffee is SUPER strong which we love it. Missing the comforts of home, I was in search of bun bo hue, my favorite noodle soup dish in Vietnam. Luckily, I came across this spot which is only a few minutes from where I work and the reviews sounded great and the food looked even better. When I took my first bite, the broth was both refreshing and filling. The broth is aromatic, sour, and perfectly hot. The noodles are abundant along with a generous portion of meat. Always garnished with a fatty pig's foot and my own blend of bean sprouts, cabbage, and a squirt of lime on top. At the end of the meal, I always feel full with a tingly feeling on my lips from the spices. I always ask for a side of chili paste and mam ruoc to enhance the seafood tanginess of the broth. Each time I come here, it's been perfect and well worth the drive. I wash everything down with a strong cafe sua da to go. There's never a wait and the service is fast. Pho Tay Do had a decent parking lot and the place was fairly empty (probably due to covid) when I went. It was super clean with very nice chairs and tables. The tables had more sauces and spices than other places I've been to which is good cause I don't have to request a ton more stuff when fixing up my bowl of pho. Love that before anything, they gave me the menu and bottle of purified water. Which doesn't sound like a big deal, but just think about it. Many places seat you, might immediately give you a menu or ask if you need time to look at the menu. Then they ask what kind of beverage you would like. At that point taking a little more time to go back and forth. Little difference, but really nice to just get seated, menu, and water (Purified; I'm kind of a water snob. Yeah I know, weird.) all at once. I got the Pho and the broth was good. Many restaurants' pho broth has a similar beefy bone flavor, but this doesn't quite taste like the others. It has a beefier and saltier taste, which I prefer over the more sugary other places I've been to. Although I just said it was saltier and beefier tasting, it was still super light. I could actually drink all of the broth after finishing the noodles and meat. I really enjoyed the meatballs. They were tasty homemade and pretty damn near perfect to what I'm looking for in a meatball. The Brisket wasn't anything spectacular, but at least it was included. It didn't easily fall apart like other places I've had or melt in your mouth, but it wasn't bad either. Just a little better elsewhere. And the noodles were good as well. Not amazing, but good. The large was ~$1 more, but for ~$10 bowl of pho, it's not that big. I was able to finish it and not feel overly stuffed. Going off that assumption, it's probably a little smaller than other places for the price. Although nothing was bad and the pho came out fairly quick, I'm not sure I love this place. The pho is good, but in a place where you can get really great tasting pho this is okay. Also if you like your broth on the saltier side rather than sweet, I'd say try this place. Additionally, looking at the pictures the Bun Bo Hue, it looks Amazing! I didn't get it, but this is the first time I almost regretted ordering the pho over BBH. I can't give this place enough praise. They welcomed me before closing and were patient while I reviewed the menu and placed a to go order. They gave me my tea while I waited and gave me a refill before I left. Meanwhile the pace was fast and the menu prices were very reasonable. I was happy they had the option to order a small batch of spring rolls instead of the standard 6-8 pieces so I could have some But the pho itself was fantastic. Food was great. But definitely the worst service I've experienced in a restaurant. Not one time did I get checked on. My waiter had a horrible attitude when I asked for the egg rolls that i ordered that he didn't bring me. When I went to pay for my food, it was $19, I gave him a $50 bill, and he hands me back 2 quarters and tried to walk off. I said, "I gave you a $50?" He says "yeah?" I had to ask for my change back.
