For the pho combo they only have two sizes now Small 9.95 and large 10.95 The small bowl was more a medium sized bowl You can also chose the type of meat you want now, which is a good option. To my surprise I think they may have had some major changes outside of the appearance of the building. I believe management or ownership is different. They are rebranding themselves and I am here for it. I felt super safe coming in during the time of Covid, wiping things down wearing face mask the whole social distancing was in play. My food was everything!! I have never enjoyed my food this much from here. Everything was made to order fresh and packaged nicely. (not easy to find entrees, placed in wrong categories). it's situated in a dining space that's decades old, still functional. parking lot at side. offerings: salad/appetizer, pho, porridge, rice/egg noodle, vermicellici, rice plates, chow mein/fun, banh mi, sides, milk tea. eats: bun rieu(8.75) -semi salty broth with lots of salty ground pork, rice vermicelli. random pieces of pork blood, tomato pieces, cilantro, onion, cilantro, shrimp. lettuce. no prescence of pig feet, beef slices, pork loin, crab/shrimp paste. -bean sprout, cabbage, jalepeno slices, lime squeeze, -'po boy version authentic bun rieu. leftovers: -one server for dining room... -no meaningful check in. -prices just look cheap, not really. you get what u pay for. read more

Coming from a different area it has been immensely complicated to find a bowl of decent pho... I have found my go-to spot for savory bowls of pho in this location!! The selection is slightly lacking from what I am used to, but each bowl and its broth are unique and that alone makes them stand out. I recommend always tasting your bowl of pho and really letting the broth ruminate in your mouth before going to town with additions of jalapenos, sprouts, house made chili paste, sriracha or hoisin sauces. It's worth that extra moment of savoring. The fried chicken appetizer has a mouth popping flavor in the chosen batter... great with or without the provided dipping sauce. There are only a few gripes that I have - 1. the shakes (with or without boba) are much smaller than advertised on the posters - complete overpricing for the size you receive. 2. most of the servers do not come around often enough to refill water glasses. 3. they do not take american express, since I am here often enough it would be nice to be earning points!! LOL I have read some of the other reviews about insects being found in dishes and on our many visits we have never experience such things. I used to like coming here but after today I will not be returning. We were barely done eating when we saw a fat cockroach at our table! I killed it as fast as I could and told manager and all she did was swoop it up with a napkin. She was not fazed at all and I'm assuming it's because this is common for them. I didn't want to make a scene and just went to pay and didn't even want to give a discount. Needless to say my stomach is turning now just thinking about roaches touching my food or where they prepare it. I stupidly still tipped because of this ridiculous tipping culture and instantly regretted it because why would I tip them the service was terrible they kept giving us the wrong food. Very bad customer service. Rude lady and unfair prices. I came in with my girl friend to order take out and I ordered 2 bahn mi. The sign says it's 4.95 for one and some how my order came out to 15 dollars. My girl friend then orders their milk tea drinks with NO BOBA. She charged us for boba anyways and when my girl friend clarified with her before paying she says "yes no boba" but it says on the screen boba + 0.95 and proceeds to just ring us up with out explaining why we're getting charged. We're hungry... we don't mind paying an extra 2 dollars for a drink, but this place is just money hungry. I know times are rough but lying about prices when you know people are hungry and willing to pay for it then, is just wrong. After last night's visit, never again! Food taste has gone down while the prices have gone up. Ambiance was depressing, condiments' containers were yucky. The rice plate was no longer prepared the way it used to be. The grilled chicken and pork were reddish/orangey...what's up with that? The egg yolk was more orange than yellow. I always finished my rice plate in the past. Last night, I couldn't even finish half of it! My husband's vermicelli came in a plate instead of bowl. We like to come here mostly for the milk teas with boba. Our favorite is the honeydew melon flavor. They do an excellent tasting milk tea here. What would make it perfect is 1) if it didn't take sometimes 15 minutes to mix some milk/powder/ice in a blender, add boba, and collect money for it; good grief. 2) it costs too much, too much enough that we've started to find them elsewhere. We also have had pho here a couple of times too, to go. The quantity was plenty sufficient, the taste was OK. When we do come in for a milk tea, there are always patrons sitting inside having a meal. Delicious food and fair pricing for what we ordered. My issue is for 2 extra fees on the receipt. Out of a $32.45 order, we were billed an addition "to go" fee of $1.00 and an SC fee of $1.47. I appreciated that the plate that came with the soup had basil as well as cilantro, and I don't want bean sprouts- they were on the plate with the jalapenos so I didn't have to pick them out. I didn't wanna do this but my conscience is tellin' me that I have to! So one fine Friday after I got my haircut in El Sobrante, I was pheenin' for Bo Kho (Vietnamese Beef Stew) but since my friends were already indulging themselves at another pho spot I was left to go eat all by my lonesome. I've been to Pho Hoa Thai quite a few times (usually on Sunday afternoons to get over my hangovers) but this time it just felt different! I don't know if they changed owners but here was my recent experience... I walked in, sat myself since I didn't see a host available, finally got a menu, knowing what I wanted already I folded my menu and waited for the waiter (typical so far)... Waiter came & took my order by memory, I stated I wanted Mi Bo Kho, he insisted something to drink so I say Soda Chanh (lemonade w/ soda water), now he insists an appetizer but I say "no thank you", he walks off muttering "du ma"... Little does this little man know that I dated a Vietnamese chick for damn near a decade so I knew that was not a nice phrase but I brushed it off b'cuz I didn't know if he was talkin to me or just upset at something else. The stew arrives and I taste the broth.. Mmm, good so far. Add my bean sprouts, mint, sriracha condiments and begin to dive into the bowl. Aside from the decent broth everything else went downhill! The beef was tough and full of fat! Didn't melt in my mouth like any other stewed beef! Did I say I ordered Mi Bo Kho because I barely had any Mi also (egg noodles) not to mention my soda chanh transformed itself to a salty lemon soda drink (totally different beverage) but that's just the icing on the cake. My friends then decide to meet up with me so we can go pound a few drinks at our local watering hole but when they sat down at my table they were instantly badgered to order something so we ordered a Thai iced tea just to get the host off of our backs but he consistently tried to have us order an appetizer but I said NO! I rushed through my unappetizing meal, paid the inflated tab (I didn't bother to dispute the charges) and bounced out of there faster than someone running from a drive-by shooting without leaving a tip. I haven't visited this restaurant in years, but I do get their pho occasionally as carryout (picked up from my father after work). We were seated and given our menus promptly. What I particularly like about this restaurant is the variety. I've had it before as carryout and I love it! Originally I was just going to order pho, but since this is the only restaurant that I know that serves bún bò hué, I might as well enjoy it while I can. Also, as a staple for whenever I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, I just HAVE to order a durian shake. I swear I'm addicted to that pleasantly rotten onion taste, haha :) Like other Vietnamese restaurants, the soup came out quickly. My bún bò hué was good, although I do wish it came more spicy, but that was easily fixed with a spoonful of chili sauce. My lovely durian shake came soon as well and, honestly, I was disappointed at how the durian taste wasn't as strong as I would like. It was sweet, but I like my pungent flavor, thanks. The soups were a bit more expensive than what I'm used to, and the lack of variable sizes for each soup was disappointing sinc*e I have such a small stomach and I couldn't finish all of my meat.
