I've ordered from this place plenty of times before and they have never gave me any issues until today. We order for pick up and when I got there I gave them the name on the order which my wife had ordered the food for me pick up after work but oh boy they did NOT want to give me my food because I would provide them with the order number, giving them the FULL name was not enough and they rudely kept living me aside, going on to help other customers without any intentions to try to help me, or even telling me we'll be back. I am pretty disappointed with their service and won't be returning to their restaurant as it seems like they don't care for customer care but only to gain business at all cost. A nice and cozy place situated in "downtown" college park. It has a bar-like setup where one can peer over the counter to watch the pho go through the works (for like 5 min). Thus, this place is fast serving, reliable customer service, and comparatively affordable relative to other local pho places. As for the pho, the broth is meaty and has flavor (personal preference) and comes with the assorted side of veggies i.e. bean sprouts, jalapenos, basil, etc. Will be back to sample the vermicelli and rice dishes! Second time here this week. Deplorable customer service the first time but everyone has bad days. Came back this evening and was told the front area of the joint was closed and we could not sit there, we obliged and sat elsewhere. Fast forward 15 mins and a white guy and his Asian wife and baby come in and sit and are served right there. The guy told my girlfriend they sat without permission, but he also didnt ask them to move since the section was "closed" supposedly because they cleaned it already. I got a large #3 pho and spring rolls. The spring rolls were the fried kind rather than the rice paper kind. The rolls were really hot when they came out, kinda like pizza rolls. I have been eating in this restaurant for the past 2 years and let me just say you will not be disappointed in anyway. I absolutely LOVE the Basil Fried rice as well as Pad Ke Mao. The ginger and scallion is also one of my favorites. This is hands down one of the best restaurants in college park. Took my family here and got the worst service ever. Basically they forgot a family of 4 was in the building. They took our orders as if it was a race, and by the time we got our food we felt like they were then in a rush to get rid of us. My lady who was pregnant at the time was very upset by the service, and we will not be returning. Two of us ate here in December. The restaurant was very cold and we were assigned to a table adjacent to the door (strong wind when people come and go). We were trying to change the table but the servers there didn't allow us to do so because other tables are for four. Though it was Saturday night, the restaurant was not packed at all. The servers there were really rude so we have to sit near the door. We requested to move one of the heaters closer to us. But what they did was move it toward the opposite direction. The servers there became more unfriendly when serving food to us. Indeed, many other tables inside were still empty after we finished. When we receive our check, we were charged for 18% ($4.3) gratuity mandatorily. I asked the waiter whether they always charge 18% mandatorily and she said yes. After we paid our checks, I realized that the check on other people next to us did not have the mandatory gratuity. Apparently, they lied to us! So I asked the menu again to check if they said it on the menu. All what it said was charging 15% gratuity on party over 5. So they were totally discriminating their customers by charging a different amount of gratuity. Even worse, they did not even feel sorry about this and claiming that we were making troubles. In the end, the manager came and gave $4 back to us and we left angrily. The whole point was never how much tip we should pay. We are willing to pay tips for good service. But for rude service, lying to customers, charging more without noticing, what would you do? I'm posting this only to warn you to check your bill if you eat at this restaurant. read more

4 stars for food but 1 stars for service. I'm actually reviewing as I wait for food.. It has been over an hour. I've been a customer for as long as I've been a student and beyond. I had to waive down our waitress who ignored me the first time around and came back only to say that our food was coming. 5 minutes later, still no food. At least give us an estimate or something. Understaffed and waitstaff is mediocre at best. The spring rolls are good. Pad see yew, pad Thai, pad kee mao are all also solid choices. The pho is okay - pretty standard - but not one of their standout dishes. I didn't get a chance to venture into the Thai menu, since I was on a mission to just try the Pho. Granted, this was the first place I tried in College park. The ambiance it's nice, but due to its proximity to UMD campus--some of the customer service is diminished as they have an overflowing crowd of customers coming in for lunch. It took way too long to get seated and once seated as well. The broth was okay. nothing spectacular in my opinion. This place is horrible! First, we were seated by the door and were freezing every time someone entered and brought in a draft. I got the grilled chicken from the Vietnamese menu and it was disgusting--mostly fat and extremely greasy. I could hardly eat it. My parents got pho and seemed pretty happy with it, but there were gnats/flies hovering around our food, which made the whole experience unpleasant. The only thing that was okay were my summer rolls, but they were just average. I'm pretty grossed out by this place. Too bad, because it's so close to my house! When I moved to College Park I was very excited to see a pho restaurant nearby. I order from here at least once a month if not more. I like this place for a few reasons... 1. You can get Thai or Vietnamese which is great because my girlfriend prefers Thai and I love pho so we get the best of both worlds. 2. The pho! I always get a large pho with brisket and round eye steak. I ask for additional meatballs as well. I have eaten a lot of pho in the area and I think that they have delicious pho. The broth is very good and not greasy. They give good portions of meat and noodles although I always wish I had less round eye and more brisket. I also wish they would give more Thai basil. I am always satisfied with the meatballs in portion and flavor. The overall portion is very good for the price. I always have enough for two meals. 3. My girlfriend almost always gets the Pad See Ew. There is nothing special about it but it is a tasty Pad See Ew. It is not greasy and the portion is good. The noodles are delicious. Lately, she has not been getting as much meat as she used to get. She recently got the Pad Fresh Ginger which we both liked but it has a lot of ginger which was a bit over powering. If you don't like ginger you should not eat this dish. 4. We also usually get the spring rolls or garden rolls. You only get two which is a bummer. The spring rolls are nice a crispy and the garden rolls are always very fresh. The dipping sauces for both are generally the same type you get in every Asian restaurant but delicious. The only appetizer we got that I did not like were the Golden Triangles (fried tofu.) I thought that these were dry and bland but my girlfriend loves them (she also really likes bland food.) I have had and made better fried tofu. We have always only gotten pick up from Pho Thom because we are so close by. The food is always ready within 15 minutes and it is always hot when we get it home. The staff is friendly. I wasn't there long enough to be a fan but lord for the time I was there and what I ate, it seems like a pretty okay place to me. I didn't sit down the the decor and atmosphere was really cool. It seems like a place where you can have a nice conversation with a few friends. The hostess was nice so I have no complaints about her. I got the Thom wings. I don't know what kind of sauce it was (it was recommended by a friend and if they swear by it, I try it) but it was heavenly. At the bottom was like carrots and lettuce (unless those weren't carrots at all) and that was covered in sauce as well. I've never had a bad experience at Pho Thom! A quick walk from the south side of campus and I have my affordable comfort food, ready to go. The service is quick and efficient, the food comes out fast and everything I've had tastes amazing. Can't go wrong at Pho Thom! I was visiting my boyfriend, who lives in College Park, but he doesn't have much idea when it comes to Asian cuisine. We decided to come here to get a warm bowl of noodles. I was presently surprised with a quality of noodles that they serve. I live very close to Little Saigon in Orange County, CA, so I am very judgmental when it comes to Pho. Beans Sprouts were so fresh, quality of meats were very high, taste of soup was just right. The price was not bad either as in outside of Little Saigon (yeah, it's 3000 miles away). Good alternative when Ten Ren gets repetitive. The food tastes good, prices are reasonable (exception to appetizers, 6 wings for over $6 is a little expensive). Just a warning, they're very stingy on the meat they give with the Pho so you'll end up getting hungry later and service is VERY slow(tables were only half full). Waitresses had to be reminded twice for bringing over more sauce and never came back to bring us plates for appetizer. We ended up finishing the appetizers before any plates came. read more

I've been here twice and had thai food both times (Pad Kee Mao the first, and some kind of vegetable fried rice thing the second) Both dishes were really good, though I prefer the Pad Kee Mao out of personal preference. Its a fairly small place, but there is plenty of seating and since its a little further down route 1 it generally isn't too full (at least not in my experience). The only issue I have with this place is the service. Its slow. There's no debating that. However, its definitely worth the wait , just be warned and don't go here if you are in a rush to get anywhere afterwards. Also try out the Vietnamese coffee. Not a bad find in College Park. Atmosphere is clean and comfortable. The food overall is acceptable, however it's a little bland and not as spicy as South Asian food should be. I think they're trying to appeal to a wider audience. Pho is solid. With that being said, I've never had a meal here and the food comes out very fast. The decor is nice, with green accents, bamboo, and other little things. The service is usually decent, but can be slow if it gets crowded. Seems like they only have two girls doing it all in the front of the house: hostessing, waiting tables, filling drinks, bussing, running food. If they compensated for busier times it would be a nice improvement. If you're in College Park and you're looking for this genre of food, eat here. If you're willing to drive a mile or two to other similar places, you will find better food and service options in my opinion. read more

For a Vietnamese restaurant located in a college town, this will be consider a good place to eat. Not totally authentic, but can fulfill the appetite of many hungry college kids on campus. The atmosphere is very nice for a Vietnamese restaurant. And the service is not bad for the price you paid. The spring roll was good, but I feel they can put more stuffing in it. The pork vermicelli was okay, the pork was very dry in the inside and greasy on the outside. Consider this place a predominantly Thai food place--avoid the pho at all costs, as many reviews have previously recommended. My main concern with this place concerns service more than the food. It's the little things that they don't do that really leave a dissatisfied feeling with you. The food is a bit pricey but not unusual in the CP area. I ordered a salad to go once and they didn't put the dressing on the side, so everything spilled out of the bag, and I wasn't given utensils. Granted I guess it was my fault that I didn't specify the dressing, but it's that kind of thing that makes a customer hesitate about going a second time. Also in the same visit I ordered a fresh limeade. It was an extremely sweet drink that tasted fresh, but more than that, they gave it to me, 2/3 full of a 16oz cup, when it cost $4 or $4.50... A great place in College Park if you want some good pho. Although this isn't a 4star in NYC, it's definitely a 4star relative to the other offerings in College Park. The restaurant itself is quite nice and one of the classier offerings in College Park, so it's great for a date night or catching up with some friends. The service however, is a bit slow at times, but the food usually makes up for it. My favorite dishes to get are the Pho(relatively cheap, and much fresher compared to Pho D'lite), and the fried fish.
