I've been here before but hadn't reviewed. This place is pretty large and is pretty busy on weekends. I came here on a Thursday night around 7:30 and it wasn't too packed. We ordered some spring rolls and I got Pho Tai Gau.. I've tried a few times and I just cannot get myself to enjoy tripe and tendon. Sorry. Brisket for me please. The portions here are pretty good but it is a tiny bit pricier than other pho places. The broth is flavorful but I've had better around the South Bay. I always ask for more veggies and the woman didn't seem all that happy to give me another plate of sprouts, thai basil, and lime. Service wasn't great. Yes they took our order quickly and yes the food came out relatively quickly, but it took forever to get more water and to get a check. We only got the extra veggies because she happened to be passing by dropping off food at another table. It's a good place but I won't seek it out. If I'm in the area, sure I'll go again. read more

I'm not a huge pho fan. But I do like it from time to time at the restaurant. Today was a chilly morning, so I was cold throughout the day and decided to check this place out with my coworker. This place is PACKED! Luckily we only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated. The food took a while to come out after ordering... but once it arrived, we slurped away! I really liked their spring rolls. It tasted fresh, crunchy and the peanut sauce was perfect. We added some siracha sauce because I heard it was good, and it sure added a kick to the peanut sauce. I was pretty surprised the rolls were huge! I was able to eat a whole roll by myself AND still had room for pho. I usually don't finish all my pho and I didn't finish it this time either. The broth was actually pretty good. I'm used to the "healthier" version of pho (my bf's mom makes some bombdiggity homemade pho at home) but I guess it's good to have the restaurant-made from time to time. A heap of plain vermicelli noodles on top of shredded iceberg lettuce. Two thin dry chicken pieces. Small containers of fish sauce, hot sauce and crushed peanuts. That's it. Where were the cucumbers, bean sprouts, mint? Went back to ask. I was told, "most people don't like it, so we didn't include it". What?? That just didn't make sense. She gave me the toppings with a smile. I gave two stars because she was so nice. Otherwise it would be 1 Star for food, 0 stars for quality. I paid a whopping $65.86 for four subpar meals. Haha, all my friends think this place is good! ... noobs. Pho here is typical stock you can find in 95% of America. Light with a dose of MSG. In that regards, this restaraunt doesn't screw up. And the bowls are pretty big, I'll have to say. On the downside... I am not a fan of their fried rice. It was very white, and I don't think it was fried for very long or well either. Been coming here for the last year and I've grown to love the place. It's nothing like the pho up in Seattle, but it's been one of my favorite pho places in the area (Mountain View). Don't expect too much from service as they tend to optimize on packing people into the store. Once I got my routine down, ordering was a breeze. I basically know what I want and once they sit me down, I ask them to take my order right away. This way I don't get lost in the shuffle. If you want any extras, such as lemons, beans reports, spoon, etc...literally ask for it when you submit your order. They'll bring the item(s) to you eventually, but you must be done with your food by then. read more

Delicious reliable Pho. Don't come here expecting to be treated like a VIP, MVP, or any title with a fancy acronym cause they don't care; what they do care about is serving you yummy food quickly. The menu is actually quite lengthy and I've only got the most simple Pho out there: pho tai...or you can just say the #1 if you are feeling particularly lazy. The broth has tasted the same every time I've been here and consistency especially to me is really important. For 10.50 you get a large and you'll leave very full. The medium is 9.50 but the extra dollar for me at least is worth the extra meat and the overwhelming amount of noodles. They also take credit card (go up to the counter when you are done to pay) and are open on the later side (10pm) so for a late dinner, this is the place to go. Moral of the story, if you are looking to eat with a large group or just by yourself at a place that has great food, quick service, ease of parking, and can pay with credit card, you can't go wrong with Pho Vi Hoa. read more

I came back here after more than a year away and will never come back again. 1) They raised their prices yet AGAIN!!! Small bowl for $11.50 across the board, and $12.50 for a large. Just threw my cc down at me (ya ya i know a lot of people do this, but it's freaking America, have some common courtesy; and seriously, I haven't noticed anyone else do this to me before). After paying, no thank you, nothing. 3) The pho - holy crap it's horrible. Bland ass soup (got the #8), the noodles were all clumped together in a brick, the meat was way overcooked already, and sriracha couldn't save the flavor no matter what you do. Poor poor execution. Horrible pho. Only redeeming factor is that it's next to Teaspoon so i could get some boba to wash out that trash pho flavor they serve. VEGETARIANS: There is a reasonable selection of vegetarian menu items. Basically there is a vegetarian version of everything they offer -- vegetarian spring rolls, vegetarian noodle soup, vegetarian egg rolls, vegetarian rice, vegetarian chow mein. The vegetables are mainly bok choi with some napa cabbage, mushrooms, and carrots. The vegetarian broth was mild, but not bland. The selection of meat is huge. I ordered a lemonade soda, and it came with powder in a glass and a can of club soda -- not bad, but probably not worth it. We also ordered a Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, which was rich and strong -- good, if you like strong coffee. We ordered a couple minutes after sitting down, and our food arrived less than five minutes after ordering. The seafood broth was very strong and slightly too salty, and, again, the vegetarian was average. The noodles were good but not spectacular; both soups came with a decent amount of vegetables/seafood. I also ordered vegetarian spring rolls, but they were mostly noodles and tofu and I would've preferred if they had more vegetables. It was hard to get people's attention though - we didn't get service until we flagged a server down. Food came out fairly quickly after ordering. MENU: big choice of pho bowl combos in addition to chicken pho, seafood bowls, rice plates, and spring rolls. Prices were decent - large bowls of pho were around $10-11, small bowls were $8-10. TASTE: + S01 rice noodle soup w/shrimp, crab leg, squid, fish cake - same noodles as pho! They had a great texture and tasted great w/sriracha. Soup was light and seafood-y. This is the closest Pho place to Stanford campus, so usually when I'm craving Vietnamese food, my friends and I go here. PHO - I'm generally not a big fan of pho, so I usually don't get it at Vietnamese restaurants. I have tried the pho here, and I would say it's okay. The broth isn't too flavorful or fatty. Since I think what makes a good bowl of pho is good broth, I don't come here for the pho in particular. BUN - So I come here for the Bun dishes. Bun is vermicelli noodles. I usually get the Bun Cha Gio (with eggrolls) until recently when I found out I have a shrimp allergy. Now I get the Bun Ga Nuong (with bbq chicken), which is pretty good! I think they give a more than adequate amount of noodles and the Nuoc Mam (fish sauce) isn't too strong or light. I would recommend against the Bun Thit Nuong (pork bbq pork) because the pork is very bland and dry. Overall, this place is A-OK! read more

It's been awhile since I've found a good pho spot. Unfortunately, I live in Southern California and happened to be introduced to this place during my San Fran visit. The broth is very wholesome and flavorful. The rare steak was a bit tough but I haven't had Pho in awhile with tender beef. I also got it with the meat ball. The meat ball was like any other pho spot I've had. The Spring Rolls were very fresh. The bean sprouts were crisp and there was no browning on them. The egg rolls were the best I've had. You can tell that they do not reuse their oil. They were very crispy and clean. I definitely would recommend their egg rolls. Overall, we had punctual service and the food was great. I would definitely go back to this Pho spot if i'm in Palo Alto again and need a hangover cure. read more

A couple months ago we were sad to see that our favorite Vietnamese food restaurant was closed. Eventually we tried a couple different options that were well regarded on Yelp, but were ultimately disappointed. Fortunately, driving by recently we noticed they had reopened, hurray! Just ordered takeout tonight and were excited to find that it tasted excellent as ever. Tasty pho, crispy egg rolls, well seasoned marinated pork... all excellent. I did encourage them to take payment online rather than having to insert a credit card myself. Ditto the option to have orders brought out rather than walking in for pickup. (Yes they marked socially distanced spaces for waiting.). For now, it was quiet enough not to be a concern, but as more and more people realize they are open again it may become a challenge. They have leather seats for their booths, and nice, clean restrooms (actually had a toilet AND a urinal, so you don't have to wait for one guy to poop)! We went here for lunch on a Friday and were seated right away. It's fairly large, so they seem to get people seated quickly. The menu has - of course - pho, but also rice plates and noodle bowls. Although a little pricey ($13-$15 for most dishes) the servings are generous. For $1 more I got the large bowl, and had plenty to take home. The pho came with a dish of fresh-looking mint, jalapenos, and bean sprouts to add to the soup and there were plenty of condiments to add (chili sauce, Hoisin, Sriracha, soy). Unfortunately, the service here was basically nonexistent. We were seated quickly, they took our order quickly, and the food came quickly. But after bringing our food, we never saw a server, and none even came close enough to flag down. I found myself rationing my water about halfway through the meal, because it was kind of obvious that no one was going to refill it. And I do not think they bring you the bill - I think you have to go to the counter to ask for it. I shudder to see how big the large is! The pho's broth was good and the noodles just soft enough. The cafe sua nong had the right consistency and not watered down, so I was extremely happy about that. Since there was little people, the service was good and I got checked-up on often.
