I was initially elated to find out a local pho spot was opening up. My first impression was so-so. Perhaps, it had been an off day for the chef. I have been looking for an authentic bahn mi and pho spot since we've moved away from all the amazing pho places in the city on 11th street, and this is the closest to the real deal (in terms of flavor) that we've found. Pho Viet Hao has a really pleasant space. It is definitely more modern than it is authentic. The Pho was really tasty and the coffee was strong. The Bahn Mi didn't use crispy bread but they tried to make up for it by toasting it. Not a terrible hack. read more

Traveling to an unfamiliar place. Went to a different pho place but it was closed (forgot it was Monday)and this one was open. Decided to give it a shot and I have to say I was happily surprised. Summer rolls were fresh and the P11 was delicious! The waiter was also very polite ans attentive. I will be back before I head home. PS - I overheard the owner trying to appease 2 Americans who had traveled to Vietnam and was looking for a dish they had had over there. I came here with my grandma to spend time together and have a good meal. This place ruined that because of the rude staff, unsanitary produce, and high prices for mediocre pho. I've come here in the past but only because my grandma likes their vegetarian pho. As time goes by we are the last people to get water or food behind people that came after already sat down. The owner/manager brings another plate of what looks like unwashed basil,I pick it and a giant worm falls out onto the plate. The owner grumbles takes the plate with no apologies and I hear him talking about us to the other worker. I felt uncomfortable and still had to eat. Waiter steered me towards a great grilled pork bahn mi was great! Meat was flavorful with a great balance of sweetness and spice. Bread was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. My husband and I decided to dine-in on a Saturday. It was around 7pm, so we were expecting a lighter crowd. It wasn't too terribly busy, so it took about 8 minutes to be seated. Upon being seated, we waited 15 minutes for menus. No, they didn't notice us and bring menus. My husband flagged down the owner (?) and asked for menus. He brought us some and told us to let him know when we were ready. We ordered pho with eye round and a pork banh mi. After about a 10 minute wait, the items came out literally on top of one another. We bit into the banh mi to find that the pork was primarily fat. There was very little meat to be found. What meat WAS edible was good. Would have been a tasty banh mi had it not been inedible pork. The pho had lots of noodles, which was a good sign. The beef was tasty and flavorful. The broth, however, lacked any real depth of flavor. There is a LOT of pho competition in this area and "Pho" Viet Hoa is not one of the top ranking. We paid about $40 for 2 bowls of pho and a hoagie. Not impressed and will not be returning. There are a few places within a couple miles of Pho Viet Hoa that have exceptionally flavorful broth and a cozy atmosphere with GOOD service. read more

Originally we had always gone to Pho' & Beyond but quickly learned they didn't survive covid, which was a total bummer. We had a birthday event with 7 people that were hungry & we all wanted Pho' so googled the area & it took me to this place. I read the reviews & it had some good ratings so gave it a go... but what a mistake it was. To make this short (1st)All the soups came with raw meat, ice cold noodles, never had experienced getting any pho' raw in my life so that was a first & a pain because we didn't have the pots needed to cook all 7 soups & took even more time to make it ourselves! all (2nd) the 4 soups that were supposed to be prime steak & meatballs was also raw & they were any kind of balls other then meat! They were rubber balls of processed cat or dog no one could tell & had balls of fat that you could squeeze out & it looked like Dr. Pimple Popper was extracting someone that had 20 large cysts out of someone's back which was so nasty & gross; (3rd) none of the sauces were labeled hot or mild & someone didn't realize that & poured hot sauce In their soup & it was inedible afterwards! (4th) the 2 coconut shrimp dishes that came with noodles came hard as rocks & couldn't be eaten either! The entire evening was a flop & ruined & will never ever go back here! If you're an OG pho eater then you're probably gonna love this place. I was super excited to see that a pho restaurant was coming in literally of walking distance from my house. My family and I went in on their grand opening day and was surprised to see that the owners are our good friends and owners of Pho Hoa on Adams ave. When pho hoa closed like five years ago my family and I were so sad. Ever since they closed no pho could compare and we were always left comparing new places to pho hoa. The pho is still great and the portions are still the same if you got a regular at their original store. All of the pho has a flat rate. The Spring rolls were great and the Banh Mi was flavorful and priced very fairly around 5 to 6 dollars, it was also pretty big and the roll was excellent. 5 of us came for lunch today (1/27/17). Food was alright, nothing special. Meat in pho was thinly slice which is great, but no pho Dac biet (everything) which is a no go for me. Bowls size wasn't big. When we were finished, asked for a separate check for each, they split the bill evenly by 5 and not by what everyone ordered. What's that all about? When we asked for separate check, we expected it by what we ordered, not down the middle. If that was the case, we have calculators on our phone to do that ourselves. Luckily, my coworkers and i weren't pricks about the split bc they were all closely price, but you need to listen to customers or get a new workers that listen. The best part of it all was after they split the check, when they saw multiple cards placed down, now you mention $15 minimum for charge. How bout mentioning that somewhere 1st? A solid 4/5 from me. I had lunch here on a Monday afternoon around 12 pm. As I walked in, I first noticed the clean cut interior, simple and straight to the point. Tables were very clean, as expected of a newly opened restaurant. I could tell that the staff were enthusiastic. After I entered, I stood there taking everything in as I waited for them to notice me. After a few short moments, the manager noticed my friend and I standing there. At that point, he quickly finished his conversation with a table in order to bring menus and seat us. But wait, one of the servers beat him to it and was already speed walking toward us with two menus in hand. Maybe next time, manager! Service was quick, we ordered Pho for lunch and it took just a little under 10 minutes for it to come out. I ordered Pho with steak, flank, and fatty flank (P9 on the menu). I thought the soup broth was a little salty at first, but not overly so. I liked the texture of the noodles, not over cooked, but just right. The overall portion was good too. The amount of sliced meat was more than adequate for me. Overall, I enjoyed it, no complaints from me. With the grand opening of this place, we now have yet another pho restaurant in the area! Competition is a good thing. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The manager was also friendly and had a little chat with me as I went to pay my bill. I recommend checking this spot out, maybe it'll be your new go-to. One quirk to note, if you are going to split the check, be prepared to pay for it split evenly and not by items ordered. This is probably one of the best pho restaurants on the East Coast I have tried. It's a surprise that a pho restaurant north of Philadelphia could beat any pho restaurant in NYC. It's a rare sight to not only see a clear pho broth, but also in a clear brown color, not to mention the very LARGE portions provided. (Yes, I do mean it, it's huge!), with a hefty amount of noodles and cuts of beef. Plus, the Vietnamese sandwiches were also good, albeit on the smaller side, but still good. I also acknowledge the complementary side of shrimp chips with fish sauce--a good combination. The spring rolls were also great, with a crispy exterior, although not rice paper, but nonetheless stuffed with meat and vermicelli. I also liked the pork chops, but rather go for the large portions of pho. For the drinks, the Thai iced bubble tea was good, as well as the Vietnamese iced coffee was good as well. We were so full by the end that we didn't end up eating the banh xeo that we ordered, but even after a few days after we got back, it was still good. Even with a detour from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, this is well worth the price and quality, and it could beat out any NYC pho restaurant, with its large portions of pho.
