We drove 40 mins to come to eat the beef stew pho because my friends are regulars to this place for 10 years. They still come here even after the restaurant owner changed. But honestly when we were there, I didn't think we got a good experience. First of all, the waitress's attitude was cold, and we waited like more than 15 minutes to get someone's attention to come to take order. Second, she got our order number wrong and forgot one more bowl of pho, the owner was a bit mean and unfriendly. When he gave us the order he showed some attitude, which was strange. We are here to eat , not to receive some animosity for no reason. But the food was great, in the end we didn't led the atmosphere affect our eating experience, just hope it won't happen again. Horrible place! The wait is so long and the waiters are rude, the lady I encountered seemed like she hates her job !! Came in and sat and waited for a good 30 minutes to get my order taken I was furious and mad because the lady kept saying has table 17 been helped yet and they all looked and said no ! Wow c'mon people get it together if your going to open a business be on top of your customers and be respectful!! I've been here many times since I was a child and the taste, price and flavor has not changed at all. This is a really affordable restaurant with really great food and taste. Customer service is not the best but it is doable. Same with cleanliness. Overall highly recommended if you're looking for a cheap place in Modesto that also has really good pho! read more

My husband and I always stop by after coming back to Merced from a long day of work in Stockton. I normally order #1 and the prawn with mixed vegetables. My husband's favorite dish is #56. The food is always consistent and delicious. The customer service is still poor although it's way better than the last owner. I would suggest that they check around every once in a while to fill people's water cup. Because of the food and portion, I'll leave it at 5 stars. read more

Perhaps the only place in Modesto, I've tried with mostly authentic Vietnamese food. My favorite is the all meat pho soup. Splendid with the sprouts and fresh spices. The place itself could use remodeling, but the service is fast and the price seems fair. I usually can never finish. What's even better is it's right up the street. Don't let the look turn you away. This place with the new owners have gone hella bad. Service is the most awful one. When my coworkers & I came in & sat ourselves, nobody acknowledged us until after 15 mins. later a couple of customers walked in & they got served right away. When the worker saw us, that's when she realized we didn't get our menus yet. When she finally came to our table with the menus, I told her that we were in a hurry. She got sassy & said, "So what do you want?" My coworkers & I looked at each other and told her we needed to look at the menu. Finally, she came back to take our orders without writing them down. 10 mins later, my coworker's order came. Another 5 mins later, my other coworker's soup came. I waited over 20 mins & mine never came after she said mine was coming soon. It came to the point that after 30 mins of waiting, I told her to cancel it. read more

3.5/5 would be a more appropriate staring label I would give this restaurant. The food is good, except that is the problem, the food not the pho. The pho is just sub par, tasting like it was made in a clear broth soup, rather than slow cooked over night from the extracts of bone marrow like every other pho place seems to have done. The taste is very unfamiliar with the typical "pho" broth found to be known and loved by many people. The grilled pork is what has saved this restaurant it is particularly good at this pho place. They offer grilled type pork that seems to have a great taste, with the portion of sauce they give you to dip it in. The sauce sees to be vinegar to an extent adding for grilled pork that is like any other. I was skeptical trying it because I love the sweet taste of Mchenry Pho's pork however it has showed me that Viet pork does not have to be sweet to taste good. It also comes with a salad that tastes ok, I am not much of a salad person, however feel that vegetables should come with every meal such as this one does. The pork at this pho as to grow on you, upon initial reaction I did not enjoy the different taste. The people there are friendly. One of the waitresses during the afternoon time is cute, and the male recognizes his usual customers and knows when you do and do not need a menu. It is relatively clean, and I have never found any thing other than food in my food lol. The styling is a little dull inside, and the chairs like the tables seem old. The environment is sub-par to say the least. The food and people are what make this restaurant a great place. There is one guy in there that smiles forever though, he creeps me out. My third time here, ordered lemon grass chicken vermicelli. Noodles mushy and over cooked, staff don't smile or engage very well. Lemon grass chicken was heavy tasting like chinese stir fry,was expecting simething not greasy. Had to ask for sauce to get the mushy noodles down. Flavors were kinda flat. Uninspiring interior. there are three places that i would rather eat at than anywhere else in the world, and they all share a common theme: dirt cheap food, ridiculously awesome food, and they are absolutely total dives. 1) fish tacos at the taco stand in Ensenada, Mexico. 2) Tony's Taco's taco truck in Salida, and 3) Pho Viet on Kansas in Modesto. Pho Viet was my first ever exposure to Vietnamese food and is still the standard that i compare all my others experiences with. the pho is great, the vietnamese dishes are fabulous, the selection is awesome. however, what really kidnaps my imagination and drives me crazy is their Kung Pao chicken. it's perfect. not too salty or greasy (though it's not grease free). it's nice and spicy, and is, in my oppinion, a perfect meal. Pho Viet is lacking a lot of things: the staff are friendly enough, but aren't overly inviting. The decor is just aweful. The tv is small and in the corner. they only give you one free refil on your sodas. they only take cash; no cards... but to me, it's perfect. we have had many family occasions there, including announcing to our parents that we were expecting for the first time :-D try it, you won't regret it. especially if you order the Kung Pao. read more

Service is quick & efficient but not indulgent . . . you'll have to ask for a water refill and go up to the register to pay for your meal (cash only). New to the area and was trying to find a good Pho place. This wasn't it. Spring rolls were just ok. The sauce they had to dip the rolls in had too fishy of a smell to it. I prefer the peanut sauce. I ordered the Beef stew and my son had the #8. Both our noodles looked like they were overcooked and had been sitting in the broth for days, really sticky. Service was quick, prices were good. This place reuses the basil and bean sprouts that they put on the tables I watched her bus a table and pick through the leaves that were good and throw away the used ones, while the plate was inside the bussers plastic container. The food is great but the service is terrible. If they got rid of the waitresses and have an order station, it would be much more efficient. The most frustrating thing about this restaurant are its waitresses. The waitresses don't refill the drinks, check on the customers, or pick up the check. It gets old having to flag down one of the two waitresses because the orders didn't come out correctly (peanuts in a dish for someone allergic to peanuts), request a bigger table (because they decided to seat five adults at one table that seats four), ask for water, or ask for clean utensils. With larger groups, the waitresses don't serve everyone at the table at the same time. We had four vermicelli bowls and one of them came out after every one finished eating; that vermicelli bowl didn't have any special requests-- the one that did, came out first. The waitresses have no sense of timing. They'll drop off the bill after the order is placed, whenever they feel like it. I barely got my food and I'm starting to eat, and they swing by to drop off the bill. It's rude and feels like they want to kick you out as soon as you get your food. read more

Found this place on yelp. I was a bit nervous because it was my first time coming here and the reviews gave it 4 stars. I was really craving some pha beef meatball soup. Turned out to be awesome! The broth was flavorful and delicious. The prices were cheap and definitely got more then what I paid for. My sister ordered a chicken rice plate and that was amazing as well. The staff was friendly and fast service. Over all I would 100% recommend this place and definitely bringing the whole family here. Enjoy ;)! read more

Currently mine and my fiancés favorite place for Pho. Love it here and the customer service is outstanding too including the wait time.
