I have not eaten here in quite a few years but there is are reasons why. When i was still a student at mjc and wanted to grab a quick lunch in between classes I always called for pho. Each time i came here, the waiter was very unpleasant. I would always be given a quick 30 seconds to scan through my menu and he would prompt me to order as if he wanted me out of the way. The pho here is not even quite tasty, the broth is mediocre if anything, and the portions of noodle is a little on the skimpy side. The last and final time I ate here, my friend found a strand of hair in his pho, he told the waiter, and they did nothing about it. A simple apology, and that was it...um okay. So I haven't been here in a long time so decided to try it out. I got the #2 and Egg Rolls. The broth with the Pho was flavorful but not a lot like other Pho shops I've been to but not a big deal. I also had egg rolls that were nice and fresh and crispy. They give you enough dipping sauce which is good. The customer service was good for it not being too busy since it was still early in the day. Last time I went here, the bowl was a bit bigger I think and it was filled with broth and the necessary ingredients. Overall, it wasn't bad for my first time going back to this place. Well I think this place is just great! The food is awesome and the people are friendly. There really aren't any other places around Modesto that serve Vietnamese food so this place takes the cake. I would definitely recommend it if you are coming from the Bay Area and looking for some authentic vietnamese food that you are familiar with. I will also add that you may want to avoid the lunch rush as it is often tough to get any seating. Everything I've eaten here is good although that's only the #14 and #18 pho and the one Bahn mi that they sell. I'm not claiming to be a pho expert but how can you go wrong when it's huge portions, cheap prices, tasty food, and good service. To me that's reason for returning! They are also one of the few restaurants like this who don't give you the look of death if you ask for extra things. I love the crispy onions so I ask for extra and usually get stared down but not here! So friendly and nice. Although when asking for extra you should always be prepared and willing to pay more which I am! I have to get out of my comfort zone soon and try some of the other items because everything I see pass me while I wait for my to go order smells amazing and looks great too! Very rude and got hung up twice when speaking to them. I understand that there are peak time, but you do not hang up without proper communication. There are many restaurants out there so having no customer service skills will turn your customers away no matter how good your food is. Very bad customer service. read more

The food was delicious and the employees were super kind and attentive. They do need to work on their organization skills. I am usually not picky when it comes to how clean tables are, because you can just wipe it down yourself. I did find the soup spoons were a little too dirty for me, there was still some rice stuck to the spoon. Who needs a soup spoon though, not me :D. The portions were so over the top, you may want to share with someone ;D. The food, drinks, and the server were so good that that is why I am giving them three stars (I tried so hard not to type "that that", but I think all that food messed with my brain). I've had a good experience before but this most recent time the service wasn't great. The waitress that helped us was a little rude and seemed as though she didn't want to be working. There is another waitress that I'd rather have because she's kind and very helpful. I don't know her name but she's tall and has tattoos. I enjoyed my food however, I ordered a mocha boba that tasted like bad chocolate milk. I've previously ordered it and I liked it. I was looking forward to it this recent time but was disappointed. I thought it tasted off because I didn't mix it well but I mixed it several times and even shook the cup a little and it still tasted off. It was very powdery and not good. read more

Best pho and chinese in one spot. The family that runs it is lovely. Of course it's rather plain inside, but you gotta adventure through the worst hoods to find the best eats. I'm from Hayward, I get it, Modesto's no gem of a city either ;-) so don't complain about it being in a bad neighborhood I feel like 50% of this town is intimidating. It's the same trip over there. The food itself is really good. On the chinese side, nothing's too bready and over fried. The guy in the back perfectly balanced. The Viet's great as well. I could complain that I haven't gotten a little piece of fat at the bottom of my pho, but I'll deal with it. It's traditional, affordable, and I don't see myself grabbing a bowl any where else. This place is alright, the girls were kinda stand off ish at first. I always start a conversation with anybody because I can't stand ignoring people and plus I like to learn about different things and people. The guy waked in after a few minutes took my order , made me, feel welcomed, more friendly and helpful. Cooking was ok...can't brag about it, place is older with a little, smell to it plus I don't like pinesol or, anything that smells loud while I eat. The pho is great there. SO YUMMY! The bowl I got was HUGE! I couldn't finish it at all lol. My husband loves Asian Food, he is skinny but he eats a lot, and he couldn't finish bowl either which is rare. D: it's worth your own bowl though its really cheap and super tasty. Only thing i didn't like was the spring rolls sauce because I prefer peanut sauce with my rolls. Not a big fan of the fish sauce with peanuts. Customer service the guys are nice but quiet. Loved this place. The staff seems like family and are very friendly. The food I had, a spicy noodle soup, was delicious. First time going to this place ever. I don't know the owners and they don't know me. I placed a phone order around 7:35 pm and they close at 8 when I got in my car I remembered I desperately need gas. So I got to the restraurant a few minutes past 8 and they ATM machines were down for the day. They VERY kindly offered the food without me paying and are going on my word to pay them later. I ordered the shrimp pho. It was really good! The service was not the greatest by far, but you could tell they were slammed. It was obvious that there is no system. Customers walk in, employees look around the room, see an empty table and point and say go sit over there. All the employees were running around with no sense of direction. Very unorganized, but to me that's the lack of training and structure from management. It took us 10 minutes to get seated 15 minutes to take our order And about 30 minutes to get our drinks and 10 more minutes to get our food. You could tell People were very irritated by the lack of customer service and long wait. Employees yelling to each other across the dining room, it was just so unorganized. But my food was fresh and the broth was perfect. I'd probably go again, hopefully their service can improve or they can hire more staff to handle the volume of customers. 3 stars is for the experience overall but I personally loved the food I ordered. Truly a jewel find! I'd like to say its the greatest pho secret eating place in Modesto but its always busy! The word is definitely out among the locals so go ahead and wait for a seat. It's worth it. Try the pho and egg rolls. Shrimp, pork - who knows! I just know that it competes with the top level "gourmet" pho restaurants that I have been to in NYC and LA but with a lot less ambiance and cost. Best pho noodle soup in town. Best broth and noodle quality. The meat is not as good as Phoenix's, but overall, it kicks some serious a$$.

This place I believe is under new management because I don't understand how it is rated that high. The place is super sketchy looking on the outside as well as the inside. The inside looks dirty which makes me question the quality of the food. The spring rolls were poorly made as well as the peanut sauce.
