Super friendly service, would suggest keeping an eye on the waitlist if you're planning on a busier time on the weekends. We made sure to join a little early and got there right on time! Sat at the counter and had a great brunch. -Cornbread - was actually not really what I expected. I think I'm always looking for more corny (har har). This was not it for me personally, but I still enjoyed it. -Migas - Really enjoyed it, but it was gigantic. I actually only ate half. The potatoes that came with this were very tasty. Also like the habanero hot sauce they have here. -Guava lemonade - was a little too sweet for me, but I love guava so I didn't mind. read more

This place is great. It's opened daily from 7am - 3pm. It was my first time coming here and the process for getting a table was seamless. You can join the waitlist online prior to arriving. We only waiting 10 minutes or so on a Sunday around 10:30 am. The portions were large. The tator tota were loaded with guacamole, jalapeños and cheese-- definitely meant to be shared. The migas omelet was good and had a nice flavor. Pimento omelet was very heavy, but I probably would have been able to finish if I didn't get the tator tots. Didn't try the sweets on the menu but the French toast caught my eye. The place is casual with indoor and outdoor seating. I would definitely come back. read more

We had a great brunch at Phoebes. Hubs had the chorizo hash and I had the chicken biscuit and we split the Deep fried French Toast. Honestly the French toast was the surprise home run! Super thick and custard-y in the middle, crisp on the outside with mounds of fresh whipped cream. Both our entrees were delicious. This place is super busy so plan accordingly! I am in love with the food here. To put it simply, every item on the menu is extremely well thought out and flavorful. I'm not exaggerating- I've had 4 breakfast entrees now and a few sides, and I don't even know how to explain it! Everything is seasoned extremely well. Yet they seem to rely on ingredients and technique to build flavor properly. The important thing is this: they layer intense, delicious flavors in every menu item I've tried. I think their chef must simply be a flavor virtuoso. Try the migas. Try the bacon. Try the freakin sourdough french toast. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. And locally owned. read more

If you're gluten free this is going to be your go-to spot for brunch in Austin. Let me guess, you've long given up trying to satisfy your craving for fried chicken. Well, look no further. But you'll want to dig further, and maybe you'll figure out the crispy gooey, spicy pleasure of Chunky Monkey, which is their version of a scotch egg - a perfectly soft boiled egg covered by a layer of sausage and deep fried in a crispy gluten free breading, swimming in a spicy sauce sage infused gravy. Insane. And the price is so modest. The staff are super friendly, and there's indoor and outdoor seating. The street is reasonably quiet and there are four tables outside. Inside, you can grab a booth and it's not too loud. I'm feeling a bit conflicted pointing this place out. Please don't mob it. Awesome meal, awesome service. Got the pulled pork Benny with hashbrown casserole. Both were a huge hit for me. Super adequate portion and looked just as great as the pictures on their website. My only issue here is that there are too many great options to choose from!!! My friend was able to replace the brisket in the burrito with bacon and he loved it. We had the following + Mimosa Special + Drip Coffee + Side of Bacon + Chorizo Hash + Biscuits and Gravy + Brisket Benedict + Baked Egg The biscuits were a surprise favorite---very interesting preparation and well-seasoned. The baked egg was our second favorite dish; the egg is baked in a tomato sauce, and the whole dish works very well together. The hollandaise on the benedict was outstanding, although the brisket was just OK---I would want to try a different benedict if we returned. The bacon was very good. The mimosa special was a bit too sweet, and the coffee was acceptable but not good enough to merit charging $3.50. read more

Not sure why this place is so popular. The staff was nice enough but distracted by changing the decorations. The bacon was super thick and undercooked and mostly fat. Not a winning combination. Pancakes were over cooked and dried out. The potato casserole was super bland and needed copious amounts of salt and pepper to make it even halfway palatable. This place was packed on a Friday morning so we new it would be good. We didn't wait since there happened to be a table available and i we were able to sit quickly. The staff was super friendly and everything came out perfectly. I'm glad I got the half order of the biscuits and gravy because it was the perfect amount especially when adding two eggs. My friend had the bacon and eggs and it too was unbelievable. The bacon is what made it - thick sliced, fatty and crisped up to perfection. The food was absolutely awesome at this dinner. I had to order the Brisket Benedict as I was in Texas and it did not disappoint. Full of flavor...this was an amazing brunch dish. Our whole crew who went to this spot loved the service and ambience. The servers were attentive and friendly. I also loved the dishes that my friends ordered which included the Chile Relleno and French Toast. The portions are generous and plenty. If you are visiting in Austin, you should definitely add this to your list if you are in the Capitol and Congress area. It is small, quaint but absolutely delicious! read more

Terrific little upscale, vibe'y breakfast place. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was great. My daughter's was the best with the spinach, bacon and tomato omelette. My son had his doubts about ordering the French toast but loved it. I had the chili relleno. It was good but I just noticed, writing this, that they forgot to put the ranchero sauce or crème fraiche on it. So no wonder it was dry. I didn't finish it and mentored it to the waiter afterwards. He just kinda nodded a 'hug' to me. Bummer. Coffee was amazing. Maybe real half and half rather than the Denny's style plastic containers?? Anyway, great place. Some attention to detail by the chefs and persons delivering the entrees would make it perfection. We will be back. read more

Austin needs more basic diners, but if they don't have that, I'll take a fun diner like Phoebe's. While they have a few basic things, most of the menu is a little bit inventive. My fiancé took me here to cheer me up on a dreary day of car repairs, and it did the trick! I ordered the baked eggs, which I remember liking from a few years back at the south location. It didn't disappoint. It looks hearty because of the tomato sauce, but is on the lighter side of things. That's what I needed, because I'd already had a small lunch before he decided to surprise me, and I'm never one to turn down a meal out. I wish I had more room because I want to try half the menu! He got the 78704 platter, and the server let him sub a salad instead of the toast and potatoes, so that it stayed keto. He'd never been to Phoebe's and he was impressed! I know we'll be back. Parking could be a pain, but fortunately we were a little after the lunch rush on a Sunday, and street parking is free on Sundays. read more

Phoebe's is our go-to brunch spot in town!! We have come here a couple of times, and ordered delivery as well. Each time is progressively better than the last! There's a reason why there is ALWAYS a line on the weekend!!! Hash. Brown. Casserole...That is all. I'll leave that right there. But seriously, everything here is fantastic!! The food coma is real though yall, like, for real for real. The drinks are great, the service is always stellar, and perhaps best of all, they have yellowbird hot sauce, our local favorite! The fried chicken, the hash, the BBQ, the benedicts, they're all insanely good, it's so hard to choose each time we come here! We have yet to go for lunch, but I don't doubt that it's any less amazing than brunch! read more

Went here to celebrate my sister's birthday and the food was really good. The wait staff was amazing. They were attentive and provided great feedback and suggestions of menu items. It's not really the ideal place if you have a large party as the seating for large groups are at bench tables with very high backs so you can only see and talk to the people at your table. OMG there is foodie hope for Austin. The flavors were so precise and incredible and lot of gluten free options. The fried chicken and goat cheese grits were were bursting with flavor. The goat cheese was perfect. My wife had the beet hash. It was over the moon. Root vegetables done right are so palate pleasing. Talk about service. Our server did not not give us bad advice. My meal however? Loved it. Everything was so flavorful and hit the spot exactly with what I wanted. It's pesto pasta. It's a classic. I appreciate the pomegranate seeds on the guacamole because it's original, it's clever, and it's different. We also ordered a special soda drink for our son, and it had a small black bug on top. I had them take it back and replace it. I kind of expected a "Listen, we apologize for the bug. Here's half off dinner," or something, but nothing. Service was fine, and it's a decent atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to sit and talk it's a great place, but if you want food or a drink go somewhere else.

The fries were also underwhelming--poorly seasoned and pretty forgettable. Based on this experience, I probably wouldn't come back for the steak frites or another steak/meat entrée. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful and very vibey, and I could see it being a great spot to grab a cocktail on the patio.

So there is this most delightful young lady whom I had the pleasure of meeting upon heading to the restaurant by foot due to my vehicle having been totaled just 3 weeks ago. I have quite literally in that time been traveling by bus but mostly on foot. In turn becoming homeless until this very day when I ran into miss Anna ,my server, while carrying approximately 250 lbs of luggage wrapped precariously in my doordash bag a rolling bag I found that is fine but has my toiletry and health bag, my art box and Easel, as well as my backpack; most of which is my possessions that I gave to homeless people freely without the expectation of receiving just to pay it forward. Along the way they fed me and gave me more hope in humanity then most. Fact is if you are kind and act out of brotherly love or gods love for fellow man then you will receive ten fold if not more just because you did not expect a single thing back. This last week was a huge eye opener. It was amazing to see just how very generous the homeless and poor have become to all people! The attitude of gratitude is key and being thankful every waking day is how I wake no matter what happened the day prior! For crying out loud I've walked over 110 miles no joke in the last week and just gave most everything away. I must advice the ownership upon arriving at the establishment there was a female head manager that quite literally judged me based on appearance alone and it's Sunday the sabbath and I'm a practitioner and realist in all faiths but claim Catholicism as my firm faith! And here is why I am an artist, musician, writer, and composer as well as buldier of my own destiny and reality as we all are. But the assistant or manager or GM was very rude! I quite literally had no charge to my phone had to plug it in and this real snooty rude supposed manager whom I thought was initially my server gave me a very cold and negative feeling upon taking my order. I even asked her to give me the quickest option possible and just order that with the twenty some odd dollars I had then I was given to miss Anna. Whom helped me so very much and I'm grateful and thankful for her kindness cause on my way to the restaurant while was only a half mile I figured I'd walk cause it was a flat straight and narrow path but my luggage was not in a proper suitcase. I was given plastic cups cutlery and foam coffee cups instead of regular silverware until I was given over to Anna whom was the one and only beautiful and kind individual I ran into after having caught a 5 dollar Uber I tipped 25 bucks through Cashapp only which is where I had gotten to finally charge my phone cause I had no charging box myself from all the turmoil . Hence Anna was a very kind friendly sweet amazing and I suggest someday she be put in a management spot . Wholeheartedly that is the girl here who's gonna blast this business into more than you believe it is or could be guaranteed. My name is Joshua David Williams and here is my art work.... All I wished to do was relax eat and draw while fully charging my phone but the rude inappropriate judgmental condescending and quite frankly cavalier bitch of a manager I had told me my demeanor was out of line just giving you my truthful two cents! To whom it may concern in the general manager position or owner and soul proprietor of this business or I guess I should state many potential businesses under and llc..... that manger needs disciplined. Phoebe's is a quaint little diner just a stone's throw away from the Capitol building in Austin, TX. With its charming ambiance, it's hard not to be drawn in by its allure. I decided to try something a bit adventurous on my visit and opted for the deep-fried French toast, paired with a scrambled egg, and an order of pancakes with a side of bacon. The French toast, though unique, turned out to be a bit overwhelming for my taste. The towering 2.5-inch thick slices of sourdough bread made it a heavy choice, and the whipped cream on top was unfortunately broken. It's possible that I misjudged the dish more than the restaurant's preparation, so I'll take some of the blame there. Now, let's talk about that scrambled egg. It may seem like a simple dish, but Phoebe's managed to make it extraordinary. I've found myself thinking about that scrambled egg several times since my visit; it was that good. Moving on to the pancakes, they had a slight mishap. The bottom of the pancakes seemed a bit burnt, almost as if it were intentionally concealed. I think a redo might have been in order here. However, the flavor was still good, and I appreciated the effort. But the true star of the show was undoubtedly the bacon. We stopped by Phoebe's Diner today, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The food was excellent, with great flavors throughout, and the service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, and our food came out incredibly fast. The chicken biscuit was moist, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. The slab bacon was also fantastic--thick, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The condiments were interesting. They weren't all my personal favorites, but I can definitely see why many people love them. I especially enjoyed the apple butter. It had a pleasantly tart flavor that I thought was unique and delicious, though I could also see it being a little different from what some people expect. I started with the Chicken & Grits, but the grits weren't to my liking -- they just didn't hit the mark. Also, I found it odd that a single slab of bacon was priced at $5.50 (my 3-year-old wanted it), and it was mostly fat. I ended up switching out the Chicken & Biscuit for the Chicken Biscuit, and while I managed to eat it, it wasn't something I'd want to order again. Overall, their twist on diner food just wasn't for me. The ambiance was okay, but not enough to make up for the food. While Magnolia Cafe is a longtime South Congress staple and a beloved Austin spot, my visit didn't quite live up to expectations. I met a group here for a pre-show meal and appreciated being seated promptly upon arrival, even though my entire party had not yet arrived. I ordered the chicken caldo soup, which was not served with avocado. The waitress did not check in with us immediately after the food was served but when I inquired about it I noticed there was an up charge on the bill for avocado. I recommend allowing the substitution of the tortilla chips with avocado in the future for a healthier alternative. However chicken caldo traditionally cones with avocado. I also tried the Mag nachos, with tortilla chips topped with black beans, cheddar/jack cheese, jalapeño, tomato, green onion, avocado and sour cream. These were very tasty and unlike the caldo, was served with avocado. The food took a while to come out and the service felt slower than expected. Magnolia has a great reputation, so I was hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations.
