I will say that our waiter was exceptionally polite and generally attentive. Most of our group got an egg dish and were okay with what they ordered. The one who ordered the brisket burrito seemed to like his meal the most. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which I found to taste very strange. It was loaded with greasy chorizo and not enough grits to offset the grease bomb. There were some nice shrimp hidden in there, but their flavor was overcome by the chorizo and other things mixed in. I would never recommend this dish to anyone. read more

The only cons I could say were 1. we felt a little rushed and 2. the strawberry lemonade mimosa carafe was tart and only tasted like champagne and tart. No real strawberry or lemonade flavor. The pros: joined the wait list online and only waited 5 min when we got there. The coffee cocktail was delicious. The horchata in it was a good touch. The food was very good. We started with the fried green tomatoes and they were crispy on the outside. The pimento cheese dip to place on top added a good flavor and creamy texture to pair with the tomatoes. I ordered the fried chicken and grits. Y'all need to get this. The portion was big. The grits were creamy and the goat cheese did not over power them. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was well seasoned and the hot sauce it comes with added a hint of spice without bring too spicy. My friend got the deep fried French toast and I tried a piece. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It is very sweet, reminds me of a funnel cake. This is by far our favorite place to go to for breakfast on the weekend. Also great hangover food as well. We probably go every other weekend, so we have had every staff member and they all have been great. I stop in during the week to get my viatnemes iced coffee and its a great pick-up for my day. As a small business owner, I know how difficult it is to keep staff and train them well and a lot of staff have been there a while so this tells you something about the owners. Came here straight from the airport to kill time until check in to my hotel, and went based off the good reviews. I am CONSTANTLY grateful for Yelp, because the good reviews were well earned! Thankfully it was just me so I was able to get in immediately and just sit at the counter. Which there was a little bit of a line outside, so I was SUPER grateful. We ordered the Phoebes eggs Benedict and the Migas with an order of coffee! Their coffee is amazing and so is their food! Our server was attentive however, because they were so busy, I feel like he wasn't able to check up on us as much...but he was super friendly and still came by to check on us! The ham on the eggs Benedict is probably THE BEST ham I've ever tasted!!! It was smoky and had tons of flavor...I feel like it was smoked and you could taste the flavors so well! However, typically eggs Benedict usually is paired with an English muffin, a bit thinner, a bit lighter, and crispier, but at Phoebe's they used a very thick, dense bread. Almost the kind you use to dip in oil at an Italian restaurant. It just wasn't the right kind of bread to be paired with an eggs Benedict. I wasn't a fan...but the ham and eggs were perfection. I also highly recommend trying the hash brown casserole! It's different and unique! We paid for street parking but if you're lucky you can find a spot in front of the restaurant! We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and saw a good amount of people already waiting outside. However they moved fast and we were seated within 30 minutes. To start we ordered a mimosa carafe (cava). It came with the right blend of orange juice and champagne. For food we ordered the bad ass eggs and bacon, a short stack, of pancakes, and the bananas Foster French toast. They were very accommodating to adjusting items on on the menu. Our server was very nice and made sure to check on us. The bad ass eggs and bacon was great. The eggs were seasoned well without me needing any additional salt or pepper. The hash brown casserole was flavorful and the slab of bacon was yummy. I enjoyed the pancakes as they did not taste like they came out of a box mix. My friend enjoyed the French toast and said it tasted like banana bread. They stay consistent with their food and service. This time, I ordered the Chicken and grits with an egg on top. What a delectable combo of flavors! The goat cheese grits is to die for and the chicken is seasoned and fried to perfection. As a side, I got the brussel sprouts. They were crispy and great but a little too rich for my taste. I also ordered a mule and it was so refreshing to enjoy with my meal. If you ever get the opportunity to eat here, you will not be sorry. I love this place. It's got all of the great quirkiness of an Austin original, and the food is delicious. I got my favorites the Chile relleno. It's gluten free which is huge. The pepper is stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese, coasted in this flavorful, crunchy crust, and served with ranchero sauce and cojita cheese. Side of crispy red potatoes finish it off. It comes drizzled with crème fraîche, but I have that cut. My sons were with me, and both enjoyed their meal choices as well: pancakes with chocolate chips, and a brisket burrito. The service at Phoebe's is always phenomenal. I never once had to flag our waiter down, and I love that they can process payments at the table, especially since we were pressed for time. We only waiting 10 minutes or so on a Sunday around 10:30 am. The portions were large. The tator tota were loaded with guacamole, jalapeños and cheese-- definitely meant to be shared. The migas omelet was good and had a nice flavor. Pimento omelet was very heavy, but I probably would have been able to finish if I didn't get the tator tots.
