We just finished our Christmas Eve dinner. We're still not comfortable dining in - not a reflection of the precautions Phoenix City Grille is taking at all - so it was take out. And as with every meal we've had there, it was delicious. Prior to COVID we were regular diners at Phoenix City Grille, and so continuing to dine there using their take out service was a no brainer. For Christmas Eve they had a special menu - we had the ham dinner. But items from their typical menu are always unique, immaculately prepared and served in a graious and friendly manner. We really look forward to the day we are personally comfortable with dining in so we can get back and enjoy the complete, in person Phoenix City Grill experience. read more

Great cozy ambiance, great lighting, interesting menu with lots of variety whether you want a salad, burger, pasta, or steak. Also a good wine list - not too long, and some interesting varietals. The 4 of us enjoyed: black bean soup, black and bleu burger, ribs, salads, and meat skewer appetizers. As first time guests, we were offered a free dessert- we happily chose the chocolate torte with vanilla gelato. Food was great, service was friendly and competent, and the place was pretty much full by the time we left @ 6:45 pm on a Thursday (we stopped in for an early bite after a Spring Training game nearby). I'm probably not PCG's biggest fan but I bet I am close...this place is one of the best restaurants. As always the food is fantastic, the service is stellar and the atmosphere is perfect to enjoy a meal. Today Karla was our waitress and she was so friendly and helpful. Part of the charm and atmosphere of Phoenix City Grill is everyone that works there. Karla did a fantastic job. She made the meal just that much better. Thank you Karla!!!! Cowboy steak was the choice this time, but really, that is the choice most every visit. I have tried many of the other entrees and they are very good, but there is just something about the Cowboy Steak on a bed of chili... Not the chili your mom made, just better!!! If you want a steak this meal will definitely become one of your favorites. I try to go to PCG every time I am in Phoenix. If I lived there it would be more often. This time they gave us the Chocolate Tort and well it was beyond what I would expect for a dessert. The Tort was very light, but add the vanilla ice cream and strawberry puree..it was pretty fantastic. I promise you if you go you will not be disappointed. This place used to be in our regular rotation (about once every week or two for years), but we won't be going back. The food is always good, but the service is mixed at best. The last time we went, we were there with the family (2 school aged kids). Despite having reservations, we had to wait for 45 minutes. Stuff happens, and I would be able to understand except not in this case. Sal DiCiccio (city council) walked in after we had been waiting for about 10 minutes and were told that we were about to get a table. He was seated immediately and we had to wait an additional 30-ish minutes. I have never had anything like that happen to me anywhere else. My friend and I have gone to the City Grille many times, but for the first time I was TOTALLY disappointed. He ordered the full rack of ribs and I ordered the full of short ribs. His ribs were dry and hardly any meat on them and we shared and both thought the sauce was very spicy. I have had short ribs many times, let me tell you this was not short ribs. It was like a piece of chuck roast that had not been cooked properly. Dry, tough, there was no rib bone at all, no flavor. I will say the broccoli was good and the fries were awesome, but at that price, I did not order a vegetarian meal and I could not eat the suppose to be short ribs. I know I should have sent it back, but you know how it is, kind of embarrassing to do that in front of friends and it would of made us late for the Suns game. read more

The event dinner I attended was supposed to be in a room reserved/booked/CONFIRMED for 25, PCG rented out half of our room at the last minute and left us with seating for 15. The food server barely had room to serve the guests dinner. NOT EVERYONE GOT SEATED! Restaurant management did NOTHING to accommodate seating for all of the guests. It was the most ridiculous scene I've ever experienced in a restaurant. From preplanning to execution every detail was coordinated with the lovely Brittnee Reed, who allowed us to preplan our orders due to time sensitivity. We only had an hour and a half to celebrate our employee's retirement, and we had a lot planned. All my requests and expectations of the PCG were exceeded. The orders were coordinated with the chef and the food came out on schedule. Not to mention everything was delicious. On another occasion, one of our group went to the wrong restaurant and we had to relocate to the other restaurant. The staff was patient, attentive, and, again, very kind. You can order an appetizer if you are not hungry. They have sandwiches, salads, pasta, the best burger ever along with steaks and ribs. I have had almost everything on the menu and I love it all. If you love brunch, they have one to order off the menu on Saturday and Sunday. SOOOO good. The servers are all the best and the owner is always there, I think that is the reason for the success. We also had the Griddled Corn Cakes and the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp as appetizers. They were absolutely delicious. For entrees our table had a variety of steaks-all cooked perfectly. I personally had the Eggplant Sandwich. OMG. There are no words to describe the sandwich, but I will say it is probably in my top 20 best things I've ever eaten. I told the server 'if I were a sandwich this would be me'. The flavors were out of this world. Too stuffed to try dessert but I know 100% I will be returning soon. Our service was fantastic as well. Just two of us eating today. Last day of our vacation we were craving some good food since eating out became boring for the last 10 days. This place was recommended by a guest staying at out hotel. I have to say it was phenomenal! I have a mandarin mule which was great. We also tried the queso dip as an appetizer. We had the center cut filet for dinner which my guy likes well done and they cooked it perfect! I like medium well but his steak tasted amazing to me too. We tried several dishes last night - all amazingly good - then could not resist the bread pudding with Jack Daniels sauce as well as the warm chocolate torte with vanilla bean ice cream - so good!
