Ever since finding out about this restaurant, my husband and I eaten here many times. On our first visit, we were amazed at how the quality of the atmosphere, food and service far surpassed it's simple name. My only complaint is that in light of our current awareness of plastic in the environment, I expect a high profile restaurant to at least ask customers if they would like a straw in their water or soft drink. On my last visit to Phoenix City Grill, a water glass with a straw was plunked down on the table before I had a chance to make a request. I had a dinner date there. Doesn't look too pricy till you get there and you're there in an atmosphere which makes you want to spend a little more and you see their specialty drinks. I've been here several times and have always had a good meal. I wanted salmon today... but I'm always reluctant to order salmon out. Even at upscale restaurants it tends to be way too fishy for my taste. I went out on a limb and ordered the salmon skewers over arugula and roasted beets. It honestly might have been the best salmon I've had out. It was cooked perfectly - with no fishy taste whatsoever - melt in your mouth good. The salad was wonderful as well. I ate every yummy morsel. I will definitely be back for lunch and this will be my go to. read more

The staff from the planning to the day of the event were most responsive, efficient, friendly and met our every need. Brittnee was terrific to work with! She accommodated our every want and need! She responded to all of my questions in a timely manner and clarified whatever I needed. Upon arriving at the PCG on the day of the event, Sheldon greeted us and made us feel welcome. The staff, Katelyn, Tony and Ryan introduced themselves and explained their roles and clarified when they could begin serving the salads. I've often ordered whatever was a special of the day and never been disappointed with that, either. I'm sorry so much of the shopping center is empty, but it does make it easy finding parking. For many years, PCG has been the favorite restaurant of my wife and myself. We have gone for lunches, happy hours, dinner, or just stopped in for drinks or coffee and dessert. The ambience is elegant and inviting. The food is wonderful to taste and artfully presented. The service, either at table or at the bar, has never been less than superior. The prices are moderate - some of my friends have suggested prices are on the high side, but great food and drinks with terrific service is not cheap, and I have never had reason to complain. We regularly dine at a number of the restaurants that have opened in the North Central area in the past several years, and while each has unique and positive attributes, PCG has become our benchmark, against which all others are measured. The food here is delicious, I had the ribs last time I went. The one thing is is I went on a Thursday at like 8pm and quite honestly I had never seen so many elderly people in the restaurant. Don't judge it by that at first I thought the food was going to just be meh but my ribs were absolutely delicious; and also for an appetizer try the bacon wrapped shrimp also one of my favorites. We went to Phoenix City Grill for Christmas Eve Dinner. It was busy but not rediculously so. The hostess staff were helpful and friendly. We had a reservation for 6 people and we were seated promptly. The waitress was attentive and friendly. We ordered off of the special Christmas Eve menu and off of the regular menu. Ate here recently while on vacation in Phoenix. The food was great, as was the service. Everything we had was delicious. We sampled the eggplant bites, hummus and the grilled skewers (beef and chicken) off the appetizer menu and they were delicious. The blue cheese lettuce wedge (made with bib rather than iceberg lettuce) was as good as any I've had. Both the black and bleu burger and the traditional cheese burgers looked great, and were raved about as well. To finish we sampled the seasonal cheesecake and the crossaint bread pudding. Don't leave without trying one of these decadent treats! I'll be back for more the next time I'm in Phoenix! read more

My wife and I just attended another Phoenix City Grille Sipping Event... this time tequila. It was exceptional. The food was some of the best we have ever had. The tequila was great and the education was amazing. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The earlier Rum Event was incredible and we didn't think it could be topped. It was and we are looking forward to the next Event (although I'm sure we will be at PCG many times in the interim). My only regret is that I forgot to order the braised ribs to take home. read more

I specifically went here for the pasta dish I had eaten here several years ago, closer to the time they had opened. I remember having ordered it a couple of times and thinking it was one of the better pasta dishes I'd had. The PCG Pasta I had the other night was good, but definitely not what I remember from back in the day. Not that chefs aren't allowed to change things up, but if they can archive the recipe from 2010-2011, it would be so much better! This has been a staple since I moved to Phoenix and has never disappointed. From the service, which is always informative, patient (and kind, as my dining companion is always ponderous over the menu) and thorough. No detail is left out. The food is consistent, flavorful and diverse. Best black bean soup in town! I recently revisited after a brief hiatus and discovered, to my delight, their Wedge salad that I donned with beef tenderloin. It easily disappeared in record time. I only stopped to take sips of my filthy vodka martini. I am always reminded that this place can fit any occasion, from a romantic dinner to a night out with friends. My wife and I were here for Happy Hour. We have been talking about coming here for years. We sat at the bar (which had a gorgeous granite!). The decor in the bar area was very tasteful, with a lot of dark wood and slate floor tiles. Our server/bartender was very helpful and informative. We tried the Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Aioli, Grilled Chicken Skewers, and Green Chile Queso Fundido. All three appetizers were very tasty, with good portion sizes. The Grilled Asparagus had a distinct smoked flavor (maybe pecan?) that added extra depth to the taste. The Chicken Skewers were moist and meaty with a nice marinade. The Queso Fundido was creamy and not spicy at all (which was good for my wife). Our Fundido had a nice surprise at the bottom, where there was a layer of green chile puree that guaranteed green chile flavor down to the last bite. Drinks and apps were all reasonably priced. It took us years to finally get to the Phoenix City Grille. I'm betting our next visit can be measured in days. read more

Surly, poor service - we spotted a couple of thick gray-white hairs floating on top of my girlfriend's wine. After scowling at us for bringing it up, the new bartender from Flagstaff poured out the wine and then informed us that these were tiny strands of cheese from our con queso, which my girlfrind didn't touch and was about 2 feet away from her. It is obvious when you have hairs in your drink! In attentive service from that point on, but when we left after awarding the bartender the 5% tip (more than he deserved) he pursued us down the sidewalk to the south, outside the building by walking along the plate glass windows on the inside, banging on them alongside as we walked. What a weird experience! Been going here for years and years, some of their dishes are quite good, others not so hot; wine list pretty indifferent and slipping. But this kind of behavior is a game changer. I will never go back. read more
